  1. They are really beating that PE and DQ for almost breaking a rule on the IDPA forum. Can't say I blame em, it's like getting a ticket for speeding finally because 3 cops clocked  you doing 69 in a 70.

  6. Not to get into it again but my personal property rights (ie Vehicle) are not trumped by someone else's property rights (ie parking lot) simply because they come into contact with one another. The law simply allows both property rights to be exercised and used in conjunction with one another and not at the exclusion of one over the other.   Of course others like FedEx and some on this forum disagree.

  7.   It was great till the writer strike, then it seemed to just wander off for awhile. Overall I was happy with the show though. At least the space combat was well thought out.   Defiance... I tried one episode and I just couldn't get into it.   I just wish Firefly would come back. :)

  9. Exactly. They seem so intent on not being USPSA--that they are making up foolish rules.   Here are three easy ones. Wear concealment. Shoot from cover if available. Slice the pie. The pie is sliced(no need for cover)when every target is shot at. If you are in the open be moving--either shooting, reloading or getting to cover.(Or fixing your malfunction)

Dont think so...   why are his proud parents not paying to fly their innocent son home? its their child..they pay for it..if they dont..they should have no say on how he gets disposed off.. he doesnt deserve a funeral .he does not deserve to be mourned. he belongs in the ocean..to feed the fishes.

  18.   In World War Z, the 10/22 was standard issue for some of the military units. See the section about the gal who had to climb a tree when surrounded. She just sat up there and kept killing them until there weren't any more so could go on her way.   Carrying lots of ammo would be much more important than the horsepower of the round.   - OS

  19. Several features of the new rulebook proposals--DQ for getting NEAR the muzzle safety point, requiring all cover points to be announced during the walk-through, some of the mindless requirements of SOs, requiring flat-footed reloads--remind me of a tv show about back alley coathanger abortions.  The difference is that this monstrosity may actually live.

  21. Honestly, I wanted something along the lines of a hand forged Kabar, in application more than design. A fighting and utility knife. I used a traditional style tanto tip, not the Western tanto that is a bastard design that I dont really like, with a flat grind and convex edge for slicing and dicing. Paracord is easily field replaceable and provides good grip, and the blade is soft back tempered for a tough springy blade, with an extremely hard edge for excellent edge retention. 23. After getting flooded in 2010, my wife and I get rather nervous at the mention of heavy rains.   By the 2nd day of rain, we're thinking of leaving.   At the third day, stuff is off the floor in the garage and we've gone to the inlaws.   But you can't live like that for long, just have to accept what might happen and rool, or float, with it.   And get Flood Insurance.

  24.   A better analysis is that it was all about BHO winning the election, and not having his "we've neutered Al Qaeda" message rebutted by actual fact. Would take the luster off the "General Motors is alive and Bin Laden is dead" mantra. It was also an "inconvenient truth" that couldn't interfere with a very important fund raiser in Vegas the next day.   It's also sounding like maybe O and Hildebeest were together drunk or something when it happened, as both seem to have been totally MIA.   You realize that the poor sap who made the Excuse Vid is still in jail for a simple (and quite minor) parole violation (that took a well televised swat team to bring in, yeah right) but they've given bail to the Boston Bombing accomplices -- and yet not one of the actual perps has even been hunted down. Yet one purported principal was "found" and interviewed in a cafe by a tactical newsman.   Hell, the first US team didn't even hit the site till almost a month afterwards. It was said it was "too dangerous". But of course it wasn't too dangerous for the embassy folks to have been there in the first place, and newsmen were picking through the rubble within 24 hours.   Whole thing has stunk from the beginning, continues to reek worse, and none of the malfeasance at the least will be punished, except maybe for singling out a whipping boy or two way down in the pecking order. And by the time Hillary is officially anointed, it will be ancient uninteresting history.   - OS

  31. I do not particularly like Mark Sanford, and think he represents a lot of what's wrong with our political system. That said, I'll chalk this one up to further proof that the DNC has never met a sure thing that they couldn't find a way to screw up.

  35. On the other hand, R 9.1 and R 9.2 appear to describe the dreaded static reload requirement that was rumored.  This is apparently the trade-off for dumping the round-dumping rule.  Supposedly, the point of requiring flat-footed reloads is to reduce or discourage round dumping.  I think the actual result will be a boost in USPSA membership.  DMark will probably like it, though.

  43. 6.8AR, I understand what you are saying.. We have to start somewhere, Is his approach ideal? Nope it is not. Marching on Washington and trying to get the numbers over the last couple of decades have not worked, either you don't get the numbers or it just falls apart.    After the SF guys submitted their document with the signatures of Active/Reserve/Retired Operators, I contacted them to see if I can use it as a framework for Airborne Qualified personnel. I have yet to get to it, as it causes pain to think I gave 7 years to this nation (bad knees, messed up ankle, and quite possible some other stuff that VA will never recognize) for some pencil Dick in DC to destroy with a whip of a pen or vote. Up until the 2008 election, I was not a registered voter, nor a NRA member, nor participated is contacting my representatives to voice my opinion and let them know how I felt.    Am I frustrated with the system, yes, I am, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go full retard to expose my frustration. There's better approaches, does it take time, yes it does, will we over come the biased media and the libtards, quite possibly but only if it's a unified approached. NRA is working it, some Sheriffs are working it, some States are working it, what we need to do is ensure we don't give the pencil dicks more reason and empower those that are fighting for us continue to do so. Senator X voted for a ban, next election he gets voted out, it might look like groundhog day every election, but after a while Politicians will get it when they are sitting on the side of the curb wondering where the dropped the ball..    Also another item to look at is the industry itself, several companies have decided to stop selling to states/cities, that have decided to play stupid games, until it's 100% complete agreement within the industry, it's not going to move forward. Same goes for LEO, if they don't agree 100% or their Chiefs are just looking out for their next political move, we are going nowhere. When the media continues to bash people who are willing to uphold the Constitution, we are going nowhere. We need to confront them and ask them why, what gets people going that are like that is not arguing with them, but asking them how they came to the conclusion and why they believe that is true. When you do that, they tend to fumble with their thoughts and ideas, and there's the opportunity for learning to occur.    Last item, as some stated, play stupid games win stupid prizes.. Among the group their will be one idiot, that will just being finger fucking his weapon and then it's game on.. And we are going to be back to square 1.

  46. I never loan my guns out, neither my fourwheeler nor my truck.   But a garden tool, or something easily replaced, No problem. Bring it back when you're done.   Thing i was taught by my dad was if you borrow something, bring it back in the same shape as you first borrowed it. Clean it up ( even if it was dirty to begin with) and return it to the same spot as you took it from.

  48. Let me add Jerry Ahern's Survivalist Series. Kinda old and dated now; but pretty good. And the books he collaborated on with his wife Sharon wer even better. BTW, Jerry Ahern passed away last year, so we won't get any more from him. RIP. But at least his Deutonics Pistols live on, sorta.   But for me, one of the best of the genre has to be One Second After. Really brings it all down to a base level and shows what the real people might endure in such an event.
