Before anyone goes and gets their panties in too big of a bunch, I didn't know this was ever in question? The Founding Fathers were extremist insurgents who at times engaged in acts of terrorism (Boston Tea Party!) by the modern definitions. The ideas of personal freedom and individual liberty are extremist ideas when you look at the larger picture of man's historical involvement with its mortal enemy, the state. The notion that a person is the best determiner of how to live his/her life and that the role of the state is only to protect the ability to live by those choices without forceful infringement by others is a wholly and completely radical idea. Those who will compromise and not proudly wear the badge of extremist in the defense of liberty are not your friend, they are your enemy.6 points

Dolly is building a $300 million resort soon in sevierville. Employing 2500 or so people. I'm going to apply at the funnel cake booth, I love me some funnel cake. I'll settle for kettle corn though. Go where the money is at, the big buck corps know where they will make more money.4 points

I haven't found a bad place in Tennessee, save for Memphis. I'll give you a bit of advice. When you come here, forget everything you think you know as it relates to politics, religion, and "the way we do it in New York". Also, do not comment on anyone's southern accent. We don't like that here. If you insist on "doing it the way we did in New York", stay in New York. Tennessee is a different place in every way imaginable. I guess the area depends on whether you prefer mountains, hills, or billiard table flat land. We have it all from mountains in the east to flat land in the west. If you enjoy sneezing and sweating in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter, Tennessee is for you.3 points

I understand what you are saying, and I agree that nobody should stereotype all blacks based the actions of few. To do so really makes one no different than poverty pimps like Jackson and Sharpton. However, I believe it is a mistake to not recognize race in this situation when taken in conjunction with recent black on white crimes. The reason I believe this should be acknowledged is for decades the media and political class have suppressed personal accountability/responsibility and promoted victimization within the black community. Their actions have led to poor parenting, 72% out of wedlock births, and a staggering 1:15 incarceration rate of young black men. Tragic. In years past, most of the crime involving blacks (I refuse to use African-American, because I do not believe in hyphenated Americans. We are all Americans.) was black on black crime and was concentrated in lower income urban areas. Thanks to the actions by the social engineers within the political class, they caused the crime to spread to more affluent and typically lower crime areas (see my thread on HUD's recent proposal). When white on black crime occurs, they shout racism and demand justice. When opposite occurs, it is almost total silence. I believe people are getting sick and tired of the blatant double standard. I would also argue that whitewashing the latter is very dangerous in that it obscures the underlying cause of the problem, which is an overreaching federal government. I have no problem recognizing race in this situation in addition to recognizing it in numerous other black on white crimes. I don't do it out of any bias or prejudice. I recognize it solely as an acknowledgement that the government's vile and down-right immoral actions the past several decades have created a disaster, especially within the teenage/young adult black community. It is my belief that we will never see any improvement until society accepts that fact. As a side note, I want to post an excerpt of Dr. Bill Cosby's speech he gave at a 2004 NAACP convention. I enjoyed his speech, and thought he was right on. It was unfortunate that he was criticized for his remarks by so many. Accepting personal responsibility and getting government out of people's lives is really the only way this will ever be fixed.3 points

So, I'm walking around there today with the Caracal in a futile attempt to sell it. Today was why I decided to keep it. Literally, only ONE dealer even knew what it was. The frustrating day was full of this kind of thing: (ala Steve Martin, Saturday Night Live): "What the hell is that?" Me: It's a Caracal. "A carry-WHAT?" Me: A Caracal. It's a 9mm pistol. "Who makes it?" Me: Caracal makes it. It's made in the United Arab Em... "AAA-rab??" Me: The United Arab Emirates. "What's it called again?" Me: The instrument of your impending death. ---------------- "Whatcha gittin' on yer Steyr?" ---------------- "What kinda Glock is that?" ---------------- "Never heard of that. Give ya $200 for it."2 points

I happened to be listening to Beck's radio broadcast one morning when he found out about it. He was carrying on about the Trevon Martin case when a lady from Knoxville called and talked about this. He had no idea, as he isn't in Tennessee, and the story never made the national news. During the next break, he read about it on the internet, and when he came back, he went off! What doesn't get reported in the news is much more telling than what does get reported in my opinion.2 points

Even I forgave Metallica after the whole Napster thing, and I loved me some Napster. I can still enjoy their music (it took me a few years) even though they are a bunch of whiners. The Dixie Chicks are a different story for two reasons: 1. They went to another country and badmouthed our President during a concert. I don't approve of that. Therefore I think that anyone who buys their music or pays for a concert ticket is contributing to their political campaign. I will not contribute. 2. The way that Americans responded was by not purchasing their music and asking their radio stations to stop playing their songs. The Dixie Chicks responded with righteous indignation, saying that their freedom of speech was being violated or something. Apparently they believe that we are OBLIGATED to listen and buy their music, and that their "free speech" is separate of that, even though it is their music which is providing them a soapbox. It is no different then sending money to Al Gore to listen to him talk about Manbearpig. So the Dixie Chicks can STFU. They hate America and the basic principles of liberty so much that I can't understand why they are still here. I can't believe there are country stations that still play their crap. Luckily for me I don't interpret a situation based on the emotional reactions of "the other side" in a reversed situation. I just don't see how JJ and Sharpton's race baiting means that I automatically have to make assumptions as well about all blacks when a couple of black guys beat a white person to death. Maybe it is racially motivated, but so what? Why should that change anything? The guy is still dead. Who do I have to be mad at other than the little monsters who did this and the breeders that raised them? Trust me, if the state of Washington asked me to be the executioner on this I'd not hesitate to get my hands bloody delivering justice, but I have no anger at anyone except for those responsible. Making this about race is just as bad as the race baiters. The moral high ground has better fields of fire. That's where "our side" needs to be.2 points

Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Being retired and arising out of bed at 8:00 A.M. to a gorgeous day in the country, as my feet hit the floor I'm trying to decide the order of the day? I have chickens to tend, 3 acres of grass that really needs cutting, 2 acres of pasture that hasn't seen a bush hog in a year, and a bushel of green beans I picked yesterday that need canning but, I have to take the wife grocery shopping first, before I get all dirty, hot and sweaty working around here for the day. After I drain my four gallon bladder that completely filled over night and make the bathroom habitable for the wife with my flatulence, I stumble down to the kitchen and start to make a pot of coffee for us and hit the on switch. It will take about 15 minutes for the coffee to brew in our old coffee maker so I'll jump in the shower and it will be finished when I get clean and shiny. Get in the shower, adjust the temperature and hit the shower gizmo and start washing my hair first as usual. Man this feels good, hot water pouring over my body and I'm coming to life. Then... The water pressure begins to drop rapidly as I'm trying to get the shampoo off my head and face. I don't know if Prell shampoo burns the eyes but, I don't want to find out! There was just enough water pressure to rinse the shampoo off my head and face. Great I'm thinking, what a time for the well pump or well pressure tank to take a dump! I dried off and was getting dressed when the wife finally got up. I told her the coffee was ready by now and I'll join her as soon as I finish. I really wanted to shave but it would have to wait until I figured out if it was the well pump, pressure tank or electrical problems. Heard the wife yell up that the coffee was not even started and she hit the switch a couple of times and nothing. Then she noticed the microwave and oven didn't have the digital time displayed, hit the light switch and nothing, then yelled up to me the power is out! Thinking to myself, GOOD! It's not the well water pump, pressure tank or electrical, just a short power outage. For some reason around here the power has hiccups every month or two and the alarms clocks, microwave and stove start flashing midnight when it comes back on, but it's all blank now. Well, I'll just have to occupy myself so I sit down in my recliner and grab the television remote and suddenly remember, I hope the wife didn't see that! Sitting in my recliner thinking how stupid that was grabbing the remote with no electricity, I was looking out my front window at the road. Normally only maybe a dozen or so cars travel my country road in a day. I counted 57 cars in just a matter of ten minutes? Is this a parade or something on our little country road? Oh well, there must be a large yard sale or liquidation sale close by and dismissed it. I ask the wife if she is ready to go to the grocery store so I can get my day started. As usual, I get the standard I'm doing my hair and makeup crap. So I know that will be at least an hour, if not more! So I boil some water on my propane gas range and pour it in the automatic coffee maker and have a cup of patience, no two cups of patience! Finally with little daylight remaining the wife says she's ready to go but first would like to have a cup of coffee also. I've learned many mango seasons ago that if you needed to be somewhere at noon, you told the spouse you absolutely had to be there at 10:00 A.M. Finally, after a man's eternity we are in my old Dodge diesel truck and I fire her up and trek the ten miles to our local IGA store. On the ten mile trip things are so very abnormal, for a Wednesday morning there's twenty times the traffic on these country roads as there ought to be. Must be some special event or something I'm not aware of I'm thinking? As we are approaching our local IGA grocery store I notice the parking lot is completely filled and people are rushing about in what looks like a panic and are tossing their stuff in their vehicles instead of the normal packing it? I'm nervous and thinking, what's going on? The wife and I begin to talk about it and if we should even try to park and attempt to go in? We elected to not compete with the mob and started to head home. It wasn't imperative we do our grocery shopping today, it could wait until whenever? Talking we suggested that it must have been one hell of a sale or three fer and sort of laughed at it. Upon arriving home my closest neighbors of ½ mile away were there to greet us? As we were driving up our two hundred yard driveway they appeared anxious and stressed? Not even ready to exit the vehicle they were shouting, “did you hear, did you hear Hear what I exclaimed... The point being, whether it's an economic collapse, nuclear war, EMP, major solar coronal mass ejection, multiple terrorist attacks, major earthquake, or whatever... If you wake up one morning and things are amiss, are you prepared to survive an extended period of time when you wake up and don't smell the coffee?1 point

Got a call today from 281 741 0311,someone out of Texas, who announced that he was with the police and troopers foundation that provides funds to the families of fallen and wounded police officers. He told me not to worry as no one is in trouble but the foundation needed my donation to help fallen officers. After I asked him to fax me a copy of his 501c he said ok and hung up. The number he called from is a Comcast number. Houston PD is a pain to get through to but I figured posting this might save someone from being ripped off by a con artist taking advantage of compassion. There will always be "lapdogs" in government willing to toady up to any regime; no matter how idiotic or despotic in order to curry favor and advancement within that regime. In the east tennessee vernacular; "...they are anybody's ole dog that will pet them...".... . That is the nature of the standing army and bureaucracy anywhere. The military and the government cabin industry attracts the full spectrum of the society that it draws its recruits from; from left to right, mild to wild, from straight to gay, despotic to libertarian, patriot savior of the citizenry to potential murderer of the citizenry, --- ya get the picture. Remember this, service in the military does not equate to selfless patriotism; nor does "public service" in government equate to statesmanship and selfless "giving back" to the country. There will always be some fraction of this bunch that will gladly do the bidding of their political masters in order to curry favor from them. Take the time to google the details of the "Bonus March" of 1932 and take a look at some of the names of those who took action to suppress this "mob" of people. My bet is that you will be dismayed and saddened. You are what you are... . Your deeds will surely follow you; be they good or evil... . leroy the amateur philosopher and student of the human condition1 point

I can make coffee all kinds of ways if I take time to heat the water, that's not an issue. Have perc, squeezer, drip, etc besides actual electric one -- heck you can just boil it like the cowboys did and let grounds settle some, or dump in sieve and pour hot water through, whatever. I agree. In my opinion, if the black community wants to be viewed in a more positive light, they first need to begin by promoting the idea that it's perfectly acceptable - even encouraged - to become someone other than those often described in hip-hop and rap lyrics.1 point

There is nothing I disagree with there. I'm sure at some point I've said very similar things. It is not as if I don't acknowledge that racism exists in black communities. Jesse Jackson wouldn't have a job if it didn't. I can also see that all the recent racial discontent being sown by this administration by getting involved with cases like Zimmerman is stoking the fires. It reminds me of the stories I heard from Iraqis in regard to how Saddam kept the Sunnis and Shias hating each other. They both saw what he was doing, but they couldn't rise above it. I do believe that there are crimes being carried out on whites by blacks due to race alone. There is the perceived victimization by whites that many blacks are raised to believe. It's only natural that once males arrive to the testosterone age that they would start lashing out at what they believed to be their enemy. Even though I can see all that, I still can't bring myself to make this a race issue. It is an ignorance issue. When we call something a race issue it means we apply it to all people of that race. I certainly don't believe that the black folks I know have any intention of involving themselves in a race war against whites any more than I would want to hurt them in a race war against blacks. I just don't get that part. Jesse Jackson gets up and says racist comments such as "white people are blah blah blah". That is an all inclusive statement. If he was only referring to white racists he would simply refer to them as the minority that they are; folks who are racists against blacks. He doesn't though, and that's why he is a flaming racist. I don't see how it is different for a white person to suggest that "black people hate whites" because that is also all inclusive. We could say that there are racist black folks out there, and there are, but condemning an entire race to be "their side" is not something I could be on board with. Plowing through a crowd of protesters blocking the interstate, well now you're getting into something I'm on board with. Executing people who kill innocent old WWII vets.. yeah, all day long I could swing that ax. Blaming blacks as a whole?.. not so much. If I was black I'd want nothing to do with these types of people and would be pretty pissed if someone suggested that I am partly responsible for not policing up people who share my skin pigment.1 point

While they may not have layed down cash as a purchase cost, it has already and will continue to be a great cost. Figure the $ the Gov spent to purchase and transport to? and how much the gov spent to bring it back so that they could "give" it to MPD and now there's maintenance and fuel that never would have been burned if it had never been "given" to MPD. And all that will likely pail in comparison to the 1st lawsuit that will come from a Leo getting a little to excited in their new tactical vehicle. There is no reason for local law enforcement to be cruising around in something like this. I understand that it came at a much lesser charge than word another option but the citizens of Murfreesboro that fund all of MPD employee's aren't doing so to me overlooked and intimidated. My guess is that this truck WILL be misused sooner or later and I hope it doesn't end badly for someone.1 point

News flash from al jazeera : the 2 teens that were arrested and released after killing a WWII vet, were found today bound and gagged in a abandoned apartment in Sanford Florida. Next door to the local VFW.The two were apparently killed when someone inserted industrial soldering irons into each of their lower extremities plugged the irons into a wall socket which roasted the suspects from the inside out while they were bound and handcuffed with rusty barbed wire.... They took the site down after I found this.1 point

So, how long has it been since there was an increase in the tax on being a jackass politician? I am thinking that is where we need to set our priorities. More and more I understand the ammo hoarders. Not the folks buying to resell but those who have multiple pallet loads of ammo. I have a small - very small - 'stash', I guess, but I am not a hoarder. If I had the cash to invest, however, I just might be. Not even so much because of an expected TEOTWAWKI event or some, other SHTF scenario but just so I would know that I would always have ammo to shoot my guns if some Arschloch of a politician ever manages to pass one of these back-door gun control 'limit the ammo they can buy/afford' bills.1 point

I hear for the updated 2.0 version that releases in 2014 will have electrodes to give you a "tactile stimulus" for when your round count gets low. You know ... for when you're too busy aiming and shooting to be bothered by reading the digital display. The shocks will come at ever increasing levels starting at 7 rounds left. Just a fair warning ... you DON'T want to shoot the last round out of the 2.0 version. 1 point

Sorry, Lumberjack, but they weren't somewhere young white kids shouldn't go. They were at a condo complex on Washington Pike. This is true.
