Well, Happy New Year to you as well. I'm going to hunt in the morning, maybe all day if I don't get something early. If I do get one early, I may go do some shooting if I can find a place open. Or I may go home, eat a cheeseburger, and call it a day :up:2 points
How is WalMart "corrupt" for trying to enforce some sanity in ammo purchasing? You don't have to be a rocket scientest to know what they are trying to accomplish with the limits. Next time you want to skirt the intent then don't show up as a happy throng all wanting their limit. After the past year with people's bitching, complaining to management or corporate, employee shenanigans, playing the "push the limit" game, and inconsistent policies from store to store, I would not be surpirsed if WM just said to hell with it all. No more ammo or gun sales.
Dude, did you even read my post and reply or just the title? I'm guessing you just read the title and replied..... What frustrated me was that he knowingly sold ammo to a family, 3 per customer... Ok... That's their policy... 3 per customer... Not 3 per family or. Group. That's some made up and unpublished policy. So my wife and I were deemed a group and not sold the 3 per customer. That clerk knew damned well that that Gomer and his 2 sons were related and sold them the published policy 3 box max, but would not sell my wife her 3 boxes.. Pretty simple. Would you like to get pulled over for driving a certain colored vehicle and cited for it? That's a made up and unsubstantiated law or policy... Double standards is corruption... That's hat frustrated me. We had a great Xmas and this is all history.... But it did frustrate me at the time.2 points

Charities are fine and all. Hard to argue with the results St Jude's produces, but I prefer to do most of it myself. Is not hard to find someone who needs help. I have three rules I lay down before I help someone in need. One, don't talk about it. Two, when you get on your feet, go help someone else. Three, DO NOT TALK ABOUT IT. Be sure and read the 6th chapter of the book of Matthew. There's some good guidelines on the subject there. Its a good practice even if you don't believe in God.2 points

I send a check every month to the Sumner County Humane Society or just go buy several big bags of dog food and deliver it their door. I try to buy puppy food, adult dog food and adult cat food each month. I don't think the employees eat the food so I feel it goes to the animals. They may take some home for personal animals but if they are going to steal they will steal..........jmho2 points

First, Happy New Year to all TGOers. I'm going to do what I've done the last ten years, stay home, have a few drinks, watch the neighborhood fireworks and wait till my next door occupier gets drunk and shoots up all his ammo in his back yard while his wife screams "STOP IT DONNIEEEE" at him. Just wondered if anybody else is as big a dud as I am.1 point

My wife and I have been supporting Fisher House ever since we saw them building a house at Bragg back in the mid 90s. http://www.fisherhouse.org/ A new Fisher House just opened in Murfreesboro on the York VA campus. WWP will NEVER get so much as a dime from us. I once had soldiers who needed some help with some family travel. My CSM contacted WWP and was told that No Direct Funding is ever provided to service members, but programs to support them are available. Try asking WWP to define what they mean by "programs and projects" and you will find out that they include events where Vets are used for fund drives. WWP is big on providing 'retreats" for wounded or injured soldiers and their caregivers like fishing and sport events (and WWP makes sure that the cameras are rolling and WWP staffers are also along for a free ride....). So, I don't Like WWP. But here are the facts. Below are the links from Charity Navigator that ranks the percent of the charity’s budget spent on the programs and services it delivers. Fisher House is at 96.6% http://www.charitynavigator.org/inde...5#.UqJzWj-A270 WWP is at 57.9% http://www.charitynavigator.org/inde...2#.UqJztD-A270 In other words, give a dollar to Fisher House and 97 cents goes to support soldiers and their families. Give a dollar to WWP and only 58 cents gets to a wounded warrior. And In Closing...... Fisher house is also one of only three military charities given an A+ rating by the American Institute of Philanthropy’s Charity Watch. http://www.charitywatch.org/toprated.html#veterans1 point

I don't use one, but its personal preference. They are much slower about bucking. I use a semi-chiesel chain on everything except ripping with the alaskan mill. Here is why. Quoted from wiki Full chisel chain has a square cornered tooth, splitting wood fibers easily in the cut for fast, efficient cutting in clean softwood. Semi-chisel chain has a rounded working corner formed by a radius between the top and side plates. While slower than full chisel in softwood, it retains an acceptable cutting sharpness longer, making it the preferred choice for dirtier wood, hard or dry wood, frozen wood or stump work, all of which would rapidly degrade full chisel chain. Losing my health insurance plan. Got a letter from my insurance in late October. Then another in December informing me I can keep it for another year. One more. Still losing a perfectly good plan that I budgeted for. This pushed me into my current support for anarcho-capitalism. I no longer hold a belief that it is requisite for a group of people to control the lives if others. Sent from somewhere in the cosmos using magic...and bacon.1 point

I disagree OS - and I've had the same argument with some liberal 'friends'.. I think the more conservative candidates fail because they are not getting support from the republican party establishment, which instead chooses 'middle-of-the-road' candidates they hope will win over some independents or democrats. I think a true conservative candidate, possibly one from your list, that really had republican support behind them would energize the base and get them out to vote. I can't tell you how many people I heard say that they didn't bother to vote in the last election because the candidate wasn't conservative enough.1 point

Yep, suspending their hunting rights is an effective tool for sure..... I've never liked the idea nor have I ever approved of it. Loss of firearm, jail time and restitution is the route to go! That usually gets their attention! Dave1 point

One can debate rights all day long but if someone is pacing the front of my work/ kids school/ public building that reasonably appears to be doing something that is out of the norm that reasonably presents the color of risk where cause of injury is inevitable,I want to see that person validated as safe or high risk. Trolling for cops w a firearm is just stupid....someone's right? Yeah but utterly stupid.... What is there 'left to debate? The style of takedown?? If he pulled that crap in other cities his funeral may have passed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.1 point

Well, I don't think he's a danger to the public... I've said repeatedly that the provision they used to revoke his permit should be taken from TDOS because in every case we're aware of it has been blatantly abused. How could this set us back decades? Current case law in TN says that just the fact you have a firearm does not give the police RAS or PC for a search, that they must have some specific to that individual firearm that it's being possessed in a criminal manner. So I see the search being upheld as constitutional as a huge setback for firearm rights in this state. How does this impact normal people? Lets say you're carrying a firearm in the back of your car while driving, or sitting inside your home against the doorjam... Does that man just because an officer sees a firearm he automatically gains RAS for a search of that firearm? Today the answer is no, a bad ruling in this case could change that. Second, it's likely that state law requiring one to produce federal tax records to local law enforcement violates the supremacy clause... Since federal law says that tax records can only be given to states with a valid court order. ATF forms are included in that law today... If the police can demand these tax documents on the street, where else and what else can they demand that you provide? Can they come to your home and demand you produce federal ATF paperwork because they have reason to believe you have an NFA firearm? Again it doesn't matter what the container looked like, the fact that he was carrying a firearm under current case law is not RAS/PC to detain or search the firearm unless they can articulate something specific about that firearm that makes them believe it's illegal. He's facing felony charges, and my guess is they'll offer to drop the charges the day he agrees not the file suit against Nashville PD... but it's costing the taxpayers a lot of extra money to keep doing this... from a pure cost perspective, it would be much cheaper to dismiss the charges and agree to pay him $10k for his trouble and be done with it... but because the DA wants to make an example out of somebody who likely didn't break the law, Nashville residents are going to pay $75-100k in legal costs.1 point

I have always been one that will try and help people that are truly in need. Been a long time now but shortly after coming from Service and close to Christmas 3 different families with about 11 or 12 kids of all ages suffered house fires and lost everything. These fires were all on same night and all within 10 miles of each other. I heard about it on the radio on my way to work at it just seemed like I could do something to help. As I drove onto work parking lot it hit me cause my boss was a U-Haul Rental Service along with operating an Exxon Station. As I went is and got a cup of coffee I asked the boss if I could rent the biggest truck on the lot and he told me yea and because we are a dealer we can get a dealer use rental. I pulled the truck up on the corner of the lot and called the radio station and all I told them is that the truck was located at the address of the station and if anyone wanted to help the families they could bring things and put them in the truck. The radio made sure the ages and sexes of all the kids was known. I had a 24 foot truck almost full by noon and not with any junk but all nice stuff including almost new appliances nice furniture and lots of nice clothes. The radio station was hammering it home all day. By about 2 o clock I had to move that truck and put up another. U-haul call the Shop and told my boss to just write the contracts on both trucks up as dealer use and would not cost us anything. There was several folks that called the station wanting to give appliances but had no way to haul them so yet a 3rd truck was out now picking up all the stuff locally with to guys from U Haul doing the work. That night the radio station managed to locate all of the adults from the 3 families and all three trucks loaded with everything they would need to replace almost everything they lost except for the personal stuff lost. The Nolensville Community Center was opened up and that is where everything was put until the families could arrange to get a new house to move the stuff to. The Gates Rubber and tire manufacturer in Goodlettsville brought full wrapped Christmas Presents and it was a delivery truck full of gifts and each gift was marked with boy or girl and the age the gift would best suit. No , I didn't go to deliver the stuff. I let U Haul and a few of our station employees deliver the stuff and bring the trucks back to our location. i did what I set out to do and once the trucks were full my job was over and I went home. The only thing I required of the radio station was my name was to never be mentioned. I was just called a good person that cared. I don't figure it matters much now since it was Christmas 1975. In all honesty I thought I might be lucky to get anything in one truck. I realized that day what it really meant to be an American and just how much being an American means. Many times I find it hard to believe I still live in that same America................jmho1 point

Why line the pockets of charities and their CEO`s and such..? Why not help out a family in need.. ? there are many local people who need your help. And a good perecentage of them are Vets.. Ask a church or a local hospital.. Or , you can also give to local shelters ( that included animal shelters) Animals cant speak or fend for themselves .. give them a chance also.1 point

Total Having a court ruling that you are a likely danger to the public is a specific documented disqualifying event. If it’s not then let’s let both the Feds and the state know that they need to shut down background checks all together because they obviously (according to you) don’t have the authority to keep firearms out of the hands of nut cases. Maybe you will lose some of what you perceive as gun rights if you plan on dressing up as Timmy Tactical, strapping AK across your chest and walking through a park where families are trying to enjoy the day with their children without some nut case putting everyone in danger. Or open carrying your AR downtown thinking cops should be afraid to stop an obvious nutcase. Yes, if you think either of those things are okay then your rights are at risk. That will lead to concealed means concealed. I don’t open carry, but I don’t particularly want to see it banned; but being a nut case will lead to that.1 point

After carrying a 1911 for many years (including as my military side arm) IMAHO the Glock 30 is the all-around best carry pistol - a really nice combination is a G30 for on-body carry with a G21 for off-body/in the vehicle (since you can use the full-sized magazines from the G21 in the G30 and two guns are always better than one!). 1. A Glock is damn dependable; it will send a bullet down the finery death hole just about every time you pull the trigger (I'm not saying they never hick-up but round for round, they are simply dependable) 2. They are simple to use 3. They are likely what the cops in your area carry (which can be important should you ever be on trial following a SD shooting as is using similar ammo) 4. They are accurate (especially at normal SD shooting range) 5. They are relatively cheap (cheap is an important consideration because if you are ever involved in a SD shooting you are likely going to find your weapon in police custody for a while and I'd rather have a $500 Glock being held than a $1,500 1911 (or an $800 1911 for that matter). The fact that they are cheap also means I don't worry if they get a nick or a scratch or holster wear or anything else that would bother me with a 1911 or similar, more expensive pistol. To each his own of course.1 point

i reload and make my own cast bullets. have been for many mango seasons. i shoot my reloads in all my glocks. i do use after market barrels. i have many different brands of barrels, i.e. kkm, efk fire dragon, lone wolf, and bar sto in 9 mm, 40 s&w, and 45 acp. i do know that the first glock 40 s&w barrels did not give good case support. the newer one do. as for factory cast lead bullets i have shot some through the factory barrel. these loads were down loaded some. factory cast lead is harder than wheel weight cast bullets and when down loaded some should not lead the factory barrel. i have never seen a problem with someone shooting cast lead in a factory barrel, i have hear about the problems, but not seen any.1 point
-
Unless you think you may shoot more than 10k lead bullets through the same gun I wouldn't bother to change the barrel. The lead left behind easily comes out with a brush. I do reload 9mm but it's questionable if it's worth it. Now if you were to cast 9mm would make a lot of sense, roughly 50 9mm come out of a pound of lead.1 point

woohoo, voldemort thread. These are my 5th most favorite TGO threads. Just for those curious my order goes 1. anti Obama/obamacare threads (they are always full of pictures and memes which keeps it simple for me) 2. pro gay-anti gay-can we please stop talking about gays threads (come on, you all know you love them) 3. AR vs AK threads (haven't seen one of those in a while, maybe i should start one) 4. Glock vs 1911 vs whatever threads most of the threads are pretty decent, but those 5 have a tendency to result in some hilarious posts. Honestly, i just commented to make it easier to follow.1 point

That's been there forever and it's the same info I could pull about you or anyone else thanks to the fact that Tennessee's HCP records are public information. He's been trying to bait me into a legal battle for years but I honestly couldn't care less which is what makes him completely powerless. Sooner or later natural selection is going to strike and he'll be a statistic. When it happens, I plan to visit his grave and take a nice big dump on it.1 point

Funny how a cleverly worded, warm and fuzzy ad can cause amnesia isn't it. I agree and disagree with your prediction, "The People" that are right now PO'd will still be PO'd and will vote the same way once election season rolls around as they would if the election were held today. Here's where the sad part happens, the votes of the engaged people that are paying attention year round will be diluted and/or washed out by the votes of the well meaning people that are just "to busy" to watch whats going up until election season when the ads are hard to miss. The group of well meaning people will happily run down to there local polling place and cast their vote for the folks they thought sounded best in the aforementioned ads without spending the first minute researching to see if the candidate that they fell in love with's voting and activity record even resembles the way they depicted themselves in the clever ad. Now it would certainly seem as though "The People" had forgotten how PO'd they were earlier in the year but in reality they are just out numbered by the uninformed hipster voters that eclipse them at the ballot box. As if this weren't bad enough, due to the TN insanity that allows Democrats to not only cast votes for their man (or woman) but also allows them to vote for which one of our men (or women) they would most like to see run against their Democratic candidate. Unfortunately the Democrats and the well meaning group oftentimes vote for the same man (or woman)to run on our sides which for all intents and purposes makes it impossible for us to get the right man (or women) for the job put in place. I almost have to laugh just to keep from crying.1 point
