1. It is all coded in Federal Regulations, not ATF policy, so it would take a lot more than just a petition. Heck if the President himself wanted to remove anything from the NFA system he could not do it. Even if the ATF wanted to do away with NFA registration they could not because it is Federal law and that requires legislation to change. Changing the Federal Regulations would require the full support of both houses, as well as the President, to make it happen and that will NEVER happen. You can't get both houses, and the President, to agree on something as serious as a budget. That alone makes me think they would never come together on something small like this. I am glad they have not raised prices to current inflation since 1934. I did the math once and it would be close to $10K rather than $200. Personally ownership of inanimate objects should not be regulated at all. What should be regulated is the person owning the item. That is if I can legally own a single shot 22 I should be able to legally own a 50 BMG machine gun in the same manner. If I want to own a tank, hand grenades or a fighter jet I should be able to if I can own a 22 and if I can afford it. As far as who should be regulated it should NOT be broken down by felonies and misdemeanors. It should be broken down by violent offenders regardless to whether the crime is a misdemeanor or felony. If a person has been convicted of committing a non violent felony they should not be barred from owning a firearm but if a person is convicted of a violent crime, even if it is a misdemeanor, they should not be allowed to own a firearm. The reason is those who have a propensity for violence also have self control issues. Even if the person were sentenced to several decades in jail for a non violent crime they should be able to own a firearm once they have completed all of their sentence including probation. But if a person was convicted and sentenced to a day in jail for a violent crime. even if it is a misdemeanor, they should not be allowed to own a firearm. As far as the mentally ill it should also be about violence. If someone with a mental defect has never shown a propensity for violence, on or off medication, they should be allowed to own a firearm. Those that have been violent, even if it is currently controlled by medication, should never be allowed to own a firearm until they can live medication free without being violent. And what medication a person may have taken in the past should not be preclude ownership, only actual actions should determine it. There are a lot of people who have been committed for evaluations that will not be allowed to own a firearm even though they were never violent. Imagine loosing a child or a loved one, a lot of people would require some sort of medication or possibly counselling to come to terms with it but were not violent and those imdividuals should not be prevented from owning a firearm. Now those who are banned from firearm ownership should have a means to restore their ability to own a firearm. It will not be quick or easy but it will be possible. And the first criteria should be living as a model citizen for at least a decade after they have completed their sentence. And finally, illegal drug use. The use of illegal drugs should not keep you from owning a firearm unless those drugs are making you violent. Even today there are people getting denied on the background checks because they have been prescribed medical marijuana and then try to buy a firearm. The reason is because marijuana is an illegal drug according to the federal government so when a person, who is using medical marijuana, answers "NO" to the question asking if they are an unlawful user of marijuana they are lying on the form. Until the federal laws are changed any person using marijuana, even for medical reasons, is breaking federal law and that requires a person to answer "YES" to that question. I personally think any and all drugs should be legal so long as it does not affect anyone else. What I ingest in my own home should be my business and no one else's.

 6. If you're easily offended, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!!!!!!!                                     O.k., you were warned.....     Instead of whining about the government, and blaming everyone else because you don't have everything you desire, why not form a plan and do something about it?   While the economy isn't the greatest right now, and our government leaders suck, many of us are still thriving and climbing the economic ladder. You can join us, or keep blaming someone else for your shortcomings.   If this makes you angry, good. Perhaps it's the kickstart you need to figure out how to produce a product or service other people desire, and you have a genuine interest in.   To be more successful than the next guy, you have to either be willing to do things most will not, or you'll need to know things others don't.   Your employer nor the government is holding you back. IT'S YOU!!!!

 19. It's the Craft Intl. Skull minus the crosshairs over the right eye. As far as a sticker goes, I didn't have one so I pulled up a pic online and went with it. If you space out where you touch the wood burner to it to where you're only hitting it every quarter inch then you can go back andfill in the gaps in a rounded fashion. You can also draw it on with pencil (at least that what a guy on another forum said) and then just burn along the lines once you have it drawn on the way you want it. I do try to pattern my shipping after the ultra timely PSA !

 21. Most of their vision is stated in the Constitution. I don't think that they envisioned judges being more concerned with revenue-collection than justice. I don't think they envisioned judicial or prosecutorial misconduct. I don't think that they envisioned bankrupting an innocent person to preserve a conviction rate. But I also don't think that they envisioned letting criminals walk on because of the lack of a Miranda Warning being given.

 26.   Thanks for the link.  It never ceases to amaze me how far some people have their heads crammed up their backsides when it comes to what a legal gun owner will do vs. what a thug criminal is willing to do.  Case in point, this quote from the new police chief in Chattanooga, from the article:       So, then, before this bill went into effect criminal gang members who did not have an HCP never carried loaded guns in their cars?  Really?  I mean, Fletcher sites 'criminal gang members' having loaded firearms in their car as a result of the bill as being a potential problem so he is basically saying that such criminal gang members wouldn't carry loaded firearms in their vehicles if not for this law.  Why do so many people - especially, apparently, those in law enforcement careers - seem to fail to grasp the meaning of the word 'criminal', as in people who break or ignore the law?  The only folks who will carry under the provisions of the new law who weren't doing so, already, are people who do not wish to break the law - i.e. non criminals.  The old smoke and mirrors trick of insinuating that such laws will have an effect on criminals' behavior is a load of horse manure.

 27. Peperoni, Pineapple, and Bacon.  Light sauce.  Extra cheese is a given and shouldn't count as a topping IMHO.  A little spice, a little salty, and a little sweet.  Then drizzle on some Siracha and pour a cold pilsner style beer and you're in business!

 32. He doesn't mind it, but he has the "Look! Squirrel!" mentality. So I enjoy the minute or so of cuddling while I can before he sees his brothers or my daughter and jumps down. A neighborhood cat hangs out on our front porch a lot, and he and Roman have become buds. When Roman started getting bigger, I hoped I wasn't going to go out one day and find him whooping that cat (or vise versa). But to this day, we will walk out and they are laying beside each other in the grass like they are getting sun tans  See?

 37. Went out shooting today, very happy with both rifles. Dialed in the red dot at 50 yards, the ALG ACT trigger is very nice for the $60 range. I may throw a scope on top and see what this barrel can do, but I am pleased with how it shot since it is a 3moa dot and was shooting unsupported. I knew my 18" barrel was a shooter, and throwing the Geissele trigger and Magpul STR stock on just make it a lot better. 7 shot group at 100 yards, front end on a sandbag, shooting 69gr Nosler CC over TAC. I called the 2 low shots, so that is 5 in about half an inch (0.723 - .224 = .499). I need to throw this rifle on my Caldwell steady rest with a couple of sandbags to weigh it down and see what it can do.

 44. Glad to see that in the article that they were talking to a guy like Ernie Langdon.  Heck of a shooter and a great trainer.  We exchanged a couple of emails last month discussing my old Beretta Elite that he built for me back in 2001.    In regard to a newer handgun...., Well it looks to me like we are going down the same path that we did earler.    Early into the latest unpleasantries, I was one of the Army's five combat arms Directors of Training and Doctrine and therefore a part of the selection voting group for the Joint Combat Pistol program. I trust that whatever new effort in this area takes place, they will look hard at the selected handgun that we picked back then, the FN FNP .45acp Tactical.  15+1 in .45 ACP, I still can't figure out how they got that many rounds into such a slim profile grip.    Although it sounds from the interview that Ernie thinks that the .40S&W is the way to go, I would still pick .45 over .40.  In our testing we found it easier to train everyone (male, female - - - I reckon now also GLBT) with the .45 over the .40.  The .40 S&W just seem to have more snap to it than a push in recoil like the .45 ACP.  A lot of folks where surprised that the 'smaller hand" people felt that the .45ACP had a softer recoil.  The biggest upside for the .40 was capacity and the FN guys had matched that with their .45ACP Tactical.    I still don't know why that earlier program crashed and failed.  I do know that the USMC had a hard-on for another 1911 and even with the Army being the DOD proponent for small arms, make no mistake about this - - - the Marines can mount a very effective and successful lobbyist effort on the Hill when they want (or don't want) something.

 45. The AP rounds that the military would have access to that we do not, they most certainly would penetrate armor, they were designed for it. The FN fiveseven had 100% one shot stops when hit either center mass or headshot from the Ft. Hood shooter. The limb shots had severe tissue damage. I believe if the army wants to think about the future of warfare, adopt the 5.7 or at least somebody do some extensive field testing. Otherwise, the army cant have everything they want. They want a deadlier caliber, retain high capacity, and have it fit everyone's hands from Tinkerbell to Sasquatch. You cant have it all. Assuming that we dont violate the no JHP rule, most logical option I see is the FNX-45, it wont fit the smaller hands, but neither will any double stack 45. It holds 15+1 of .45 is an accurate DA/SA pistol with a rail, currently available threaded barrel and the slide is milled for a red dot. .357sig isnt more powerful enough to warrant an entire platform change. Army is too pussy to adopt 10mm. .40SW would be ok but you would have a 9mm sized gun with reduced capacity to hold the 40 and possibly have longterm reliability issues. What else is there caliber wise? I dont think they are gonna go back to revolvers.

 46.
My friend is a LEO for a small department outside Knoxville. Recently, he admitted that he has no idea what all the laws are surrounding the carrying of firearms. He also stated he hates open carry. None of which was surprising.
He'd get an education when he attempts to have someone charged with a crime that doesn't exist. I've heard many stories first hand and here on TGO regarding officers who warn lawful carriers they are breaking the law. I'm not one to lawyer from the side of the road, but if an officer tells me it is illegal to do something that is actually legal, I have no issue informing they don't know the law. I'm surprised when I hear stories of officers telling people they are breaking some law in regard to carry, yet they don't cite or arrest the individual. That tells me the officer either isn't confident enough regarding the law, in which case I would educate him and provide him with reference, or the officer knows the law but doesn't agree with it, in which case I would encourage the officer to call an adult to the scene or take me to jail. There was one I was reading not too long ago where an officer insisted that having a round in the chamber (of a pistol) was against the law (for permit holders). The officer unloaded the weapon and returned it to the driver. I would have told the guy he was wrong, then informed him that I will load it as soon as he walks away. If a cop wants to take someone to jail for a made up law it will only inconvenience me for a few hours. He has a lot more to lose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He is the problem because the second regular people see ammo on the shelves regularly they will quit buying all they can. The scalpers are driving normal people to buy all they can too.   It is not against the law to take pictures of anyone in a public place.
