  1. The rifle posted below was a build on the verge of completion that belonged to a dear friend of mine whom was only 22 and was killed recently in a motorcycle accident. I was going to make an offer to his wife for the rifle because I would keep it as a last piece of him and because she had no real interest in firearms. She actually asked if I would finish it for their 4 week old son to have when he came of age. I was shocked and was already a bit in tears so when she asked me this I looked one of those gals whom just got done watching the Notebook and was sobbing. Well this is it in its final form ready to be passed on from the father to the son. He always was a cheapskate so I upgraded what would be Magpul sights to Troys and got them a bolt carrier group, like I said, he didn't need much. I take pride in the fact that they asked me to do this and wouldn't hear of them paying for it, it's my last gift to him.

  4. I traded for this with another TGO'r last week. It already had the Boyd's stock and had the trigger spring out and I think some minor polishing. Anyway, measured with my Lyman digital trigger scale and it is a crisp safe 1lb 2oz. Shoots like a dream. Oh yeah, it is a Ruger American Rimfire Compact with a Boyd's stock. The stock hooks to the barrelled action in two places so isn't as prone to movement as the 10/22 might be. It uses 10/22 mags which is useful.I actually like shooting this better than the CZs, older Mossbergs or other bolt .22s I have had.

A friend put this on my Facebook.  To good to not sure.  I am sure many of you will find many number 1 rules that you have personally dealt with.   AT LAST A GUY HAS TAKEN THE TIME TO WRITE THIS ALL DOWN FINALLY, the guys’ side of the story. (I MUST ADMIT, IT’S PRETTY GOOD.) WE ALWAYS HEAR ‘THE RULES’ FROM THE FEMALE SIDE NOW HERE ARE THE RULES FROM THE MALE SIDE THESE ARE OUR RULES! PLEASE NOTE. THESE ARE ALL NUMBERED #1 ON PURPOSE! 1. MEN ARE NOT MIND READERS. 1. LEARN TO WORK THE TOILET SEAT. YOU’RE A BIG GIRL. IF IT’S UP, PUT IT DOWN. WE NEED IT UP, YOU NEED IT DOWN. YOU DON’T HEAR US COMPLAINING ABOUT YOU LEAVING IT DOWN. 1. CRYING IS BLACKMAIL. 1. ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT. LET US BE CLEAR ON THIS ONE: SUBTLE HINTS DO NOT WORK! STRONG HINTS DO NOT WORK! OBVIOUS HINTS DO NOT WORK! JUST SAY IT! 1. YES AND NO ARE PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE ANSWERS TO ALMOST EVERY QUESTION. 1.. COME TO US WITH A PROBLEM ONLY IF YOU WANT HELP SOLVING IT. THAT’S WHAT WE DO. SYMPATHY IS WHAT YOUR GIRLFRIENDS ARE FOR. 1. ANYTHING WE SAID 6 MONTHS AGO IS INADMISSIBLE IN AN ARGUMENT. IN FACT, ALL COMMENTS BECOME NULL AND VOID AFTER 7 DAYS. 1. IF YOU THINK YOU’RE FAT, YOU PROBABLY ARE. DON’T ASK US. 1. IF SOMETHING WE SAID CAN BE INTERPRETED TWO WAYS AND ONE OF THE WAYS MAKES YOU SAD OR ANGRY, WE MEANT THE OTHER ONE. 1. YOU CAN EITHER ASK US TO DO SOMETHING OR TELL US HOW YOU WANT IT DONE. NOT BOTH. IF YOU ALREADY KNOW BEST HOW TO DO IT, JUST DO IT YOURSELF. 1. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, PLEASE SAY WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO SAY DURING COMMERCIALS. 1. CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS DID NOT NEED DIRECTIONS AND NEITHER DO WE… 1. ALL MEN SEE IN ONLY 16 COLORS, LIKE WINDOWS DEFAULT SETTINGS.. PEACH, FOR EXAMPLE, IS A FRUIT, NOT A COLOR. PUMPKIN IS ALSO A FRUIT. WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MAUVE IS. 1. IF WE ASK WHAT IS WRONG AND YOU SAY ‘NOTHING,’ WE WILL ACT LIKE NOTHING’S WRONG. WE KNOW YOU ARE LYING, BUT IT IS JUST NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. 1. IF YOU ASK A QUESTION YOU DON’T WANT AN ANSWER TO, EXPECT AN ANSWER YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR.. 1. WHEN WE HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING YOU WEAR IS FINE…REALLY. 1.. DON’T ASK US WHAT WE’RE THINKING ABOUT UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO DISCUSS SUCH TOPICS AS FOOTBALL OR MOTOR SPORTS. 1. YOU HAVE ENOUGH CLOTHES. 1 .. YOU HAVE TOO MANY SHOES. 1. I AM IN SHAPE. 9. BarBCutie has always been pro gun. The Donelson store put up a gunbuster sign about 10 years ago. I went and spoke to the manager about it. She said it was just to keep bad guys from carrying. She immediately took it down and has been CCW friendly ever since. The one here in the 'Boro is not posted either.

  15. I saw this last night on FOX. Is her name really Krystal Ball? Anyway, the plane shot down is a sad tragady for everyone who was killed and their families, and the guy MSNBC interviewed is a low life scumbag for making fun of it but I certainly don't feel sorry for MSNBC at all. Those idiots should have a delay in their broadcast to prevent this, I thought all news broadcasts had some delay to protect interviews with someone at the controls at all times. Of course everyone knows MSNBC is a liberal political propaganda organization but to take an interview from someone who claims they saw something and call it an exclusive without checking them out first, or checking out a few facts like the US embassy in the Ukraine is hundreds of miles from where the plane was shot down is very sloppy, lazy and unprofessional reporting. Go for the ratings over the truth I guess.

  17. Well, I did it. I was coming home from Chattanooga yesterday and stopped at the Outpost Armory. They had one standard Gen 4 Glock 19 left, so it went home with me. Looking forward to putting some downrange with it. I may have to go back and get that Kahr CM9 I fondled before the end of the month.

  18. Stopped in tonight as my wife and son are visiting my mother inlaw. Low and behold the was a plaque on display from the Nra thanking them for their support. Seemed like a really nice place food was good a little spendy but I would rather support a chain that is not anti Gun.

  19. I consider myself a good judge of character, however, recently I placed my faith in several seemingly good people and did some very big favors, only to be screwed hard by those people. Adding insult to injury would be several other events occurring over the past few weeks in which I had no control over and had depend on folks to do the right thing, only to be let down big time and suffer the negative consequences. Understandably, I have been pretty upset, and have rapidly expanded a few peoples' vocabulary and tossed a few nuke rounds in recent days. The end result was making a pact with myself that I will never, ever put myself out there for a stranger again, nor will I trust anyone who is not verified. Up until now, I've used my keen sense of a person's character to determine who is worthy of my trust. Now I've resolved that close friends and family are the only folks who deserve it. Then yesterday, a series of unforeseen events unfolded at exactly the wrong time, which seems to be a trend this month. I found myself in a catastrophic situation in a place far from home and far from those I depend on, and I required immediate assistance from a stranger. Much to their inconvenience and potential hazard, a good person stepped in and gave me a hand. It was something they didn't have to do and could have easily gone past, but they didn't. What bothers me today is that I never had the opportunity to thank this person, due to the circumstances. I wish I could thank him for not only his help, but also for restoring my faith in people. If not for this person I would have been in a very bad situation which would have become much worse. Afterward, I thought about if this person didn't exist and no one came to my aid. We live in a society of growing indifference to our fellow man, and I believe my recent declaration has made me part of the problem. If roles had been reversed, would I have done the same thing? Before, absolutely. Now, not so much. So I'm recanting the pact I made, and I owe some serious karma to my fellow man, even if it means assuming risk. If I get screwed, I'm gonna be okay with that. We shouldn't let those that would take advantage of us change who we are, or stop us from doing the right thing. I know I'm more cynical and callous than the vast majority of society, but I'm not gonna let that affect my decision making. Now that I'm finally home with my wonderful wife and kids, the unbridled rage that I've had toward those that effed me doesn't seem to burn hot anymore. The only things I want to remember about the past few weeks are the people who helped me, and why that is more important than the people who screwed me. Sorry for being so vague, but I didn't want to type a seemingly endless bitch session about all the wrongs in my world. I hope this helps a few folks out who have lost faith in people, and I hope there are a few others who will find inspiration to perpetrate some random acts of kindness. 22. Back in February, we bought a house in the country, and for the first time ever we had a respectable sized garden. I've already made a dozen jars of pickles and a dozen jars of relish. The pickles are a bit sour, so may have to find a new recipe next year.   I've got about 3 gallon sized freezer bags of green beans and one or two of squash in the deep freeze.   We have a thornless backberry bush that has produced over a gallon of berries, and is still going strong, I froze them, and have been adding a handful of them to my oatmeal every morning.  :yum:   We just got a pressure canner, but have not had a chance to use it yet. We are going to have more tomatoes than I know what to do with, so I guess we'll be using the canner on them. We probably have 15 tomato plants, and they are so full and heavy with tomatoes that they are falling over.   We also planted a whole row of pumpkin. Why didn't someone tell me that is way too much pumpkin? It practically took over the whole garden. Fortunately we planted it next to a gap we left unplanted. It consumed all that space, and crept out under the fence. I guess we'll can some pumpkin, but I don't even like it all that much.

  24. well, I did say that I would report back after the few issues that I had with the fresh build I had with the 300blk.  Come to find out that I did not have the shoulder set back far enough Dolomite as well 173rd indicated that might be the problem, and that is exactly what the problem was, it take several frustrating hours to get the die set just right and several stuck pieces of brass as well.we did get er done.  The rifle shoots just fine I now have about 50 rounds down the pipe and painstakingly cleaning between each first few rounds then after a series of rounds.  The only thing to do now is make some upgrades as time and money allows before deer season, and figuring out where to find some lancer mags as the new G.I, issue and the new magpul that I have would not feed properly after the 1st few rounds so the saga continues.  see ya'll

  25. Frozen bell peppers, squash, and sweet corn. Soon we'll have pinto beans and black eyed peas to freeze.   We've canned blackberry jelly, dill pickles, green beans, salsa, and tomato sauce.   It's been a very good year for the garden here.   A few more months and we'll try to put up some more deer burger, sausage, steaks, backstrip, and jerky.

  27. Canned Green beans, potatoes, and strawberry jam so far. Will make some pickles, salsa, and can some peas in a couple weeks. Might can peaches if I get a deal on peaches. Got some tomatoes in the dehydrator right now making sun dried tomatoes. I'm gonna run some squash and zucchini in it while I have it out too. Wife read that shredded and dehydrated it's good to add to soups and stews. Like most I got plenty of squash to experiment with, lol. I try to only put deer and other meat in the freezer. But did freeze 3 or 4 dozen ears of corn, a couple jars of pesto, and some strawberries so far.

  33. Back in 1976 a close friend asked me to find him a Marlin 336 in 35 Remington caliber for deer hunting. I found him a like new rifle for a really low price (even then). Fast forward to about 5 years ago he and I were talking about hunting. He explained all he is hunting now is turkies. I asked about the 336 and he still had it. He brought it out of hiding and it still looked new. I offered to buy it but he refused. Instead he GAVE it to me and refused to accept any payment. However, he said he was searching for a short shotgun for home protection (in addition to the various handguns he owns). A short time later I presented him with a Remington 870, 20" barrel, matt finish, black synthetic furniture. He claimed it was exactly what he had been trying to find and asked the price. I answered "You can pay me........exactly what I recently paid you for a Marlin rifle." He answered with a slow, sly grin, then turned and put the 870 in his storage room. Isn't friendship fun. 34. I have been in a position in life where I was doing better than some others around me and I helped them out when I knew they couldn't pay it back but I could tell they needed it and I couldn't not do something. I honestly thought it was done at that point. Nope. Couple years later I was in their position needing help and thankfully there were people around to help me when I truly needed it. So if I am able to help someone, I will. You never know what the future holds for you.

  38. What the hell good are we if we can not help each other out from time to time. That said, my good will has been abused, I will not abuse some others.   Last month I gave a man some money for gas, he was on the side of the road out of gas, he did promise to send the money back, not seen it yet.   Give more than you get, you will get more than you need. This is true for the good and bad you do in life.   TMF, it all works out in the end.

  45. Something I purchased a couple of years ago came with a free 1 year subscription to RS.  Having never really read the magazine I was wrongfully thinking that it was a music publication not a rag piece for the Liberal agenda.  I was happy to see my subscription end until I started getting the "This is your last issue"  issue every month.  My subscription ended over a year ago but  I still get that trash delivered to my house weekly.  Needless to say, it goes straight in the trash.  I could call them and try to get it stopped but it gives me a little satisfaction knowing that it cost them to pint and mail it to me every week just so I can trash it.
