So you stick to your "right", and then the cop may feel he then has reasonable suspicion to mess with you more. Can make for a miserable evening. And unless you have deep enough pockets to go for a civil rights suit, your only practical recourse is to file a complaint with the department, which of course will almost certainly see it as a quite trivial matter indeed. Or you could simply show him your ID and tell him why you're walking up the friggin road. Hell, he might offer you a ride home. - OS7 points

Luckily I have never been in the situation, but if I ever am, I am going to take the hard way out and fight for my rights. I don't have anything against cops per se. I do, however, have something against any government agent, regardless of their uniform, trying to stomp on my rights. I am just not going to sit idly by and let them do it.5 points

From that AG opinion... The person approached, however, need not answer any question put to him; indeed, he may decline to listen to the questions at all and may go on his way. He may not be detained even momentarily without reasonable, objective grounds for doing so; and his refusal to listen or answer does not, without more, furnish those grounds. It takes enough citizens standing up for their rights to keep them. If the police are giving rides and booking people for refusing to show ID, that needs to be challenged. My 4th Amendment rights matter to me just as much as my 2nd Amendment rights or any other rights do. I just wish more people would fell the same.5 points

For whatever service Jesee Venture did for the country he has my thanks as does Chris Kyle as do all who have taken the oath and worn the uniform but I suggest looking at what each has done after their service... When I look at what Venture has done after that service I see a no-talent actor, narcissistic conspiracy theory nutcase of a man who seems to enjoy filing lawsuits (this one was not his first)…a man who has said that he has lost his patriotism and that "I will never stand for a national anthem again. I will turn my back and I will raise a fist". He has also vowed to apply for Mexican citizenship so that he can live there more months of the year. Apparently his loss of patriotism and disgust with America does not prevent him from trying to profit from America’s court system When I look at Chris Kyle after his service I see a man who poured his live (and lost his life) trying to help other veterans. His book, in which Venture claims he was slandered, was written to fund Kyle’s charity (and as I understand it, that is where all the profits have gone). A man who, at least outwardly, exhibited true concern for others rather than how to enrich himself. Even if everything Venture said was true and he was slandered, only an asshole of ponderous proportions takes it out on the widow and child Chris Kyle left behind - continuing the lawsuit after Kyle’s death was a childish and reprehensible thing to do no matter what Kyle may or may not have done/said. I’m not suggesting that Kyle is perfect; I’m not even saying Venture wasn’t slandered (although I will always think it childish of him to file a lawsuit) but from my perspective, one is a little boy in an old man’s body who cares little for anyone or anything but himself and the other is a man, perhaps a man with many flaws, who tried to live a life of service to those who needed it. Unfortunately, it’s only the dirt bag America-hating narcissist that is still with us which is pretty sad.3 points

After what has probably been several years of debating I have finally decided to get a trust. The first thing going into it will be my newly purchased M85 PAP as I turn it into a Krinkov replica. Then I start the expensive process of transferring the rest of my NFA items into the trust. What prompted me was several things but the biggest is not having to deal with our newly elected sheriff. Another big thing was how painless getting the trust actually was and I can thank John Wells for that. Within 30 minutes of first contacting him I had all my trust documents, which were personalized to me. He definitely made it quick and painless as well as answering all the questions I had regarding the trust. If you need a trust, or just want a trust, I would strongly recommend John Wells.2 points

Anyone, including cops, can ask you anything. When I see people on my road I do not recognize ask them who they are looking for. I have also been known to ask what their name is as well as if they have an ID. Doesn't mean I am going to get it but I have every right to ask. If nothing else it shows those who might be interested in doing something illegal on my road that people are aware and watching. I can say, without a doubt, that any questions asked by LE is them looking for a criminal offense you have committed.2 points

As a teenager I walk a lot, one night a county LEO stopped, asked what was going on. I told the truth, I was heading to work, he said a neighbor called and reported that someone was walking the road. So he was sent out to check it out, just doing his lob. He asked for ID, I gave it to him. He put me in the back of the car, carried me to work. He let me out at the door, we said our good byes, and I thanked him. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow, it is up to you. Just do not lie. LEO has a hard job, one I do not want. They do try to "prevent" crime. Yes some LOEs do get a bit pushy, but for the other 99% are really good people.2 points

I've rented vehicles for work when the company pays and for pleasure on my own dime. Here are my quick thoughts... I'd imagine a van would be cheaper to rent than an SUV if you aren't out for style points Be ready for sticker shock regardless, holidays are peak times for rentals with all the travel Check now if your personal vehicle insurance covers rentals; insurance can be a rip off from a rental company Note any scratch, dent, chip or imperfection you find on the checkout inspection- that goes double for the interior- as a safety precaution Do the math if they offer a pre-pay for fuel option; it seems convenient, but it's not always a great deal Don't bother paying for a GPS in the rental if your smartphone has a good map & directions app2 points

I shoot my Hawkins .50 cal probably once every two weeks and once a month in competition. The first thing I did when I bought mine was get a globe front and rear aperture sight for my tired eyes. Easy to mount and now I can see and hit what I see. The next thing I did was buy two hot shot nipples, size #11 and swapped out the original. The hot shot has a small hole drilled in the side of it up by the tip when expands the spent cap. The cap usually just falls off the nipple when you bring the hammer back to 1/2 cock. I always have a spare with me and I keep the original as another backup. My powder of choice is 777 as I find it's pretty clean. Loaded? The first thing you do is make sure your rifle is unloaded. That's easy to do by sticking a cap on it and pointing down range fire it. The next thing you do is take another primer and stick it on and point the rifle with the muzzle a few inches away from the ground (read dirt here) and fire it. The cap will have enough power to move dirt around a little bit. Now you know for a fact that the rifle is empty. Now you take out you ramrod and stick it down the barrel until it hits bottom. You will feel/hear the ramrod hit bottom. Take a knife and scribe a line around the ramrod right where it exits the barrel. You now know if you have an unloaded rifle or not. When you do load the rifle then stick the ramrod back down the barrel and scribe a mark for it being loaded. Now you know the right depth of seating or if you forgot to put a charge in, or double loaded the rifle just by checking with your ramrod. Cleaning: In competition I clean between shots. That consists of running the same cleaning patch down the barrel between shots. I use #77 Muzzle Magic Cleaner. A pint bottle runs around $6-7 and The last one I bought was almost two years ago and I'm about 1/2 through it. I transfer somer to a small squirt bottle that I take to the range. All you need is the cleaner, patches, a cleaning jag, a nipple wrench, a tooth bruch, some oil (I use 5wt synth car oil) and some cheap pipe cleaners you can buy at wally world. Take a patch and lay it over the muzzle then squirt some #77 on it and ram it to the bottom of the muzzle. Give it about 5-6 full strokes then remove and replace it with a clean patch. Repeat the strokes and the new patch should come out clean. You're done with the barrel. Take the tooth brush and squirt a little bit of #77 on the breach/nipple area and clean it with the tooth brush. It should come clean very quickly. Wipe off with a rag. Remove the nipple and put a lil #77 on a pipe cleaner and clean the inside of the nipple out. Use the pipe cleaner and clean out the threads and breach plug channel. Re-install the nipple and the cleaning is about done. Just lightly coat a patch or a rag with oil and wipe down the barrel/breach area. Take a lightly oil coated patch and run it down the barrel. I do this at the range after every shooting session and take a clean rifle home. Shooting: When I show up at the range the first thing I do is take the rifle to the firing line and charge it with a cap and fire it to confirm the barrel is open. My powder charge is determined using the correct length tube connected to the powder horn. Mine is brass and has a button valve on it. I then dump that into a powder measure and dump it into my loading tube, down the barrel. NEVER dump the load directly from the horn to the barrel, It may and probably will dump a huge load by accident. Let's not have any accidents. Once the barrel is charged with powder. I take a tiny rubber hammer and tape the rifle around the breech area to ensure the charge also fills the the channel. I then take a pillow ticking patch which I wet in a small tub of water and squeezed out then lay it over the muzzle and center a ball, sprue up, over the patch and start it using my .45 cal pistol ramrod. Once started I use the pistol ramrod to push it 6-7 inches down the barrel then switch to the ramrod and ram it home. Two firm pats on the ramrod ensures the ball is rammed home. You can confirm it because the ramrod has the charged line on it. I leave the caps on the shooting table when I walk up to shoot. That way they're never near my rifle while I'm loading it and they're right where I want to shoot. After my shot I gently blow down the barrel and look for the smoke to exit thru the nipple. That tells me my breech channel is not clogged. You need to get ahold of some 4X powder. It is considering a face saver just in case you get into a conversation with someone and forget to put some powder in the rifle prior to sticking the ball in. If this happens you will not need a ball remover. Just pull the nipple and charge the breech channel with the 4X. I will hold around 4 gr of 4X. screw the nipple back in cap it and shoot the round downrange. The ball will pop out and go around 10-15 ft.. A list of supplies. Hot shot nipple (for Hawkins) #77 BP cleaner as noted above. I use a small squeeze bottle from Hobby Lobby. 1 old very large aluminum arrow with a funnel glued to it Nipple wrench Gun oil or substitute 777 powder Powder horn with a valve to measure a load. Powder measure. #11 caps Pipe Cleaners Cleaning patches Pillow Ticking (washed 3-4X to soften it up then cut into 1 inch patches). Balls (shot). Try .490 or .495. My .50 likes the .495. 1 small rubber hammer 1 .45 cal wooden ram rod 1 cleaning jag. Some 4X powder A small water tub to wet the patches. Use lubed patches for hunting, not water wet ones. A pint sized water holder to carry the water to the range. My rifle is set up for target shooting using 35 gr of 777, FF. Very accurate and will knock over any silhouette. Any more powder for target shooting is pretty muh a waste in my rifle but you will need to try 30-35-40-45-50 grains until you get the group size you want,. I can take and send pics if you want to see my setup. It all fits in one plastic large ammo box except the ramrods, lol Hope this helps. I forgot to mention I get most of my supplies from track of the wolf http://www.trackofthewolf.com2 points

Dude, seriously, run! Let the other dude have her. "Fight" for her? It's one thing to compete with another guy for that initial attention from her, but you don't marry someone when there's still that "fight" going on, PERIOD! She either loves you or she doesn't; end of story. This is coming from a man who's been married to my one and only wife for over 35 years. We got married when I was 18 and she 17. Mike, I sat and watched that video tonight with my wife and my middle daughter who is 5. As she was looking at the kid in the spacecraft, she looked at my wife and said, "mom, that's like the school bus you made us!" Earlier this summer we got something in a big box and my wife helped them make a school bus and let them paint it themselves. They've played with it all summer. How do you know it was hard hitting? Did you chronograph the loads or do any ballistics testing? Have you even shot a water jug with it? I bet because it was LOUD you equated it to hard hitting. There is not a hyper velocity round on the planet that will outperform a standard velocity round when it comes to penetration. And penetration is ALL you have with a 22. BTW, the CCI Triple Shock ammo is even worse than the Stingers.1 point

Had ~$11 or so and used the difference to purchase a Belkin Conserve timer. Plugged the tumbler into it and routinely use it to run the timer for 3 hours simply by clicking the top button on the timer. It's great and was "free"! It bugs me that Ebay Bucks expire so quickly so I figure I may as well purchase something $3.46 or under. I don't want to throw any money with it unless I can figure something I would purchase anyway within the next month.1 point

There are plenty of douchebag SEALs who are up their own ass. Thing is, the type of people who occupy these meat eater jobs are also the type of guys who will shut down a person who is running their mouth, especially if that person is a fellow member of that community. That isn't odd at all. For Jesse Ventura to sue this guy and keep the lawsuit going after his death is beyond douchey. Everyone already knows JV sucks. Want to hear about not awesome. I was not planned and probably not wanted. Up to that point my father had been travelling and living it up until he knocked up my mother. Six months later he did the right thing by marrying her but that didn't mean he liked or even wanted me and it shows. My first memory, when I was 4 or 5, was of my drunken father laying me over the armrest of an old brown recliner as he beat me with a belt. Why was he beating me? Because I wasn't able to count to 10 in school. So he told me I had to count the hits. I would make it about 1/2 way and just to make it stop I would say 10. Then he would say it was wrong and start over. I bet I was beat for 20 minutes as I figured out how to count to 10 but it wasn't about me counting, it was about having someone to vent his rage upon because my mother had left my father a few months earlier because of his drunken, abusive antic and because he didn't have my mother to abuse anymore he took it out on me. Over the next couple of years I was beat by my father, my mother and my mother's boyfriend. And honestly those years are a blur. But I do remember being drug around by my arms, feet, hair or whatever they could grab a hold of as they beat me. A few years later my mother and father decided to get back together and that is things really got bad. I was beat with all kinds of things, daily. My father liked using unusual things to punish me and would find odd things or make things to beat me with. My mother's favorite thing to use was a straightened out metal coat hanger that she used to wail away on the backs of my legs. My father, for as long as I can remember, was ALWAYS mean to me. As I walked by he would grab the skin around my waist and twist it until it bruised. He would push me down or trip me then point and laugh. Anything I did that I was proud of he would destroy then laugh as I would cry. He would use locust limbs, with thorns, to beat me as he made me low crawl between the house and barn. And all this was before I turned 10. Oh, and my father's father was with us for a few years and he did pretty much the same thing so here I was, a 7-8 year old boy, being beat and tormented daily by those who are supposed to love and cherish me. My best memory of my childhood was waking up before they did so I could watch the Stooges without being afraid. By the time I was 13-14 I was away form home a lot. I was getting drunk almost every day, being mean and fighting. But the biggest fight I had was to avoid going home because I knew the second I walked through that door I was in for a fight I could not win. The way it normally went was I would come home and my mother would lay into me, then my drunken father would start beating me and my mother would stand by and watch. My father would throw me through doors, into radiators and even loosened teeth by punching me in a drunken rage. Then my mother would come in and tell me it was all my fault that it happened. Even to this day she blamed me for when my brother tried to kill us. She said it was my fault for not giving him money for his drugs. It was only after I was bigger than my father that things quit being physically abusive and things seem to settle down but I was still getting drunk all the time. They were still abusive but in a different way, they started using words and controlling behaviors. So again I would be gone with friends doing things I should not be doing. The vast majority of my childhood friends are in jail or have been in jail. And I should have been right there with them because I was drinking, fighting and just being a person no one wanted to be around. I was mean in my younger years, not just mean spirited but probably one of the meanest people I have ever met. And it is a struggle not to go back to being a mean person. And that is why I do not drink. It is because I say and do things that a normal person would not do. Most people who had an upbringing like mine do not turn out normal. I will say that I am far from normal and do have quite a few quirks and skeletons but all my adult life I have fought because I wanted to be one thing, not like my parents, and that fight goes on to this very day. There are people on the board who have seen first hand how my parents act towards me and how insane they are in their actions. Something else, I do not remember my father ever saying he loved me, ever. And when I was getting ready to go overseas I went to visit him and when I tried to give him a hug goodbye he walked away and didn't say a word, no goodbye, no see you later just a cold shoulder. He cannot stand me and probably has more hatred for me today than the day my mother squirted me out. He probably sees me as the person who ruined the plans he had made for his own life. My parents have done nothing for me other than try to make my life miserable but they did do one thing, ensure I would do everything in my power to not be like them. I do not say these things to trivialize what you are going through. I say them as proof that anyone can overcome anything as long as they work at it. And I am sure there are plenty of members here who have their own stories of adversity where they worked hard to overcome them. Your story is not new nor it is unique but you can overcome it. Trust me when I say you can be successful, it just takes some effort. It takes work, sometimes work where you don't get paid in money but work none the less, to get ahead in life. Personally I do not know you nor do I honestly give a crap about whether you stay with her or not but at this point anything you decide to do you need to do for you, not her or anyone else. If I had not decided to do something for myself I would probably be drunk and poor living in a singlewide trying to figure out what happened to my life. Instead I worked hard and got ahead. If life were meant to be easy what fun would it be when you win at life. As far as what Sam said I am not as bad off as it could have been but I am worse than it sometimes appears. I piss myself every day, it is a fact of life since my accident. I spend most days laying in bed. My wife helps me get bathed and dressed. I sometimes have to walk with crutches but I also understand it could be a lot worse. My legs randomly quit working, if I am lucky the fall is a soft one but most cases it only makes the other things worse. I am still having issues from a fall a few months ago. I had a friend out this weekend. Spent a few hours helping him out and fought every second trying not to show how bad my back was bothering me. After he left I felt a sense of relief because I could finally get off my feet and go back to bed. And the other hope was that maybe he didn't see the pain in my eyes. I spent the rest of that day and the next two days in bed. It was only yesterday that I finally was able to finally feel well enough to get out of bed. I will tell you that I do hate my crutches, hate them more than anything in this world, because they are proof I am weak and I try to avoid using them until it is unbearable. Some days that threshold is minutes and some days I might get a few hours without them but I will ALWAYS need them. You do not know pain until you have someone else put your underwear on for you. I could belly ache about all this all the time but it does not good. I have tried wallowing in my own misery and trust me when I say it doesn't help at all.1 point

So you've been dating for 10 years, since you were both teenagers. How long have you been engaged? If more than 1 year, bail. Neither of you has the commitment necessary. People who want to get married get engaged, make wedding plans, and get married, typically in less than a year. People who aren't sure stay engaged for a long time and talk about getting married some day. Both of you need to go live life for a while (at least a couple years) and learn what its like to be an independent adult. Maybe you'll get back together later after you've both grown up a bit, maybe not. Counseling is a waste of time/money at this point.1 point

One more thing I do is mark my ramrod with a small notch or marker where it comes out of the end of the barrel with a charge loaded. Just a visual and tactile check to be sure. Sometimes if I don't get a shot that day, and I'm headed back out in the next morning, I'll leave it loaded and just pull the cap. Just don't bring it into a warm house and then back out in the cold again. Condensation and such.1 point
