Him and his wife are probably the most damaging people to gun owners. The both of them, and the Brady Campaign, are responsible for more damage than anyone else. Not in their legislation but in them pushing that guns, and gun owners, are a bad thing to the public. Had he died from his wounds that day we would have been in a better place today. I have zero sympathy for him, his wife or anyone who supports their agenda.   I heard on the news this morning the left are going to try to use his death to renew interest in a nationwide ban on assault weapons. They are saying that a ban on assault weapons would be fitting way to honor him.

Don't go too small. If it says 2-person, assume it will comfortably hold one. But just to try out camping, get a "bargain" type. Get your wife a nice thick sleeping pad and a good sleeping bag. Those are more important than the tent, IMO. I spent most of one summer sleeping on a cheap inflatable pool float. Very comfortable, but it eventually started leaking. BTW, I don't consider Coleman to be a high-end brand when it comes to tents and such. Not in the same class as Kelty or North Face anyway. Its been a while since I've slept on the ground though, so some things might have changed.

  Using not so subtle racist language like that is about the fastest way to get ignored and ridiculed in my book.  It tends to show the authors true colors.   The poor white Christian males will be just fine. White trash can put a pit bull in the backyard just as easily as any other race can.  But hey, why not assoicate it with the political assention of minorities to keep people outraged. :rolleyes:

Wow...thanks for the outstanding quick and informative information everyone.  I can see this is shaping up to be a great forum!   I'll definitely shop around local and see what's available.  I won't bother asking where to start on that front...I'll do some searching on the forums here and see what folks have already I'm sure recommended on 100 other threads.   Much appreciated!

  You forwarded (or in this case posted) it with no commentary, as a stand alone work, so that can make people assume you agree with it.  Silence equals consent.    If you didn't agree with all of his points, you could have pointed out disagreements and counterpoints before or after it without any edits.    This is the danger with chain emails and the like. The echo chamber effect and the ease of using the forward, like or share button have stopped people from looking at the whole body of work and asking themselves, "do I agree with the sentiment and tone of all this?"    Conservatives have plenty of actual issues to disagree on the President with.  I'll respect those disagreements even as I argue against some of them.  But when anybody tries to disguise in racist jabs that are little better than dog whistles, I'm going to call BS every time.     No kidding.  My cousin and I were texting about those adult responsibilities and problems we have now and I fondly reminisced, "Remember when all we needed to pay for ourselves, were the beer and liquor we weren't supposed to be drinking?"

To paraphrase a lot of what Nick says, the "good old days" were back before you had adult responsibilities and problems.  Ask your parents if you're fortunate enough to have one or both living.  I bet your "good old days" weren't theirs because they were busy worrying about buying groceries, paying the mortgage and raising you.   There are things I miss and things I wish weren't the way they are and as such I long for different times on occasion.  I think it's just part of the aging process.  At the same time, I think it best to be careful when talking with younger folks to not always be negative with them about the state of the world.  In doing so, you may be taking away their "good old days."

Like Bersa, I think there are some good points here, but the underlying theme here seem to be IMHO "Things aren't the way they once were. I want things to be the way they once were." I'd agree that there are a lot of things these days I'm not so crazy about, but the idea of wanting to plunge us all back as a society into the 40's - early 60's seems really stupid to me. I also can't help but wonder about these messages when I get them. It strikes me funny that so many people in their 50's and 60's want to go back to the way things were in the 50's and 60's. I think there's a lot of folks this age wearing their rose colored glasses looking back at those years. One thing to keep in mind while reminiscing, if you were a child in a given decade, odds are strong you're not remembering all there was to it. Case in point, I look back fondly at the mid-1980's as a simpler, safer time where kids could play in the streets unsupervised till past dark, there wasn't so much crap in our food, people were nicer, air was cleaner, etc. It's all about perspective. I'd also invite the author to spend some time outside of a city more often. Little bits of the Norman Rockwell American dream are still spread out all over this country.

As a general rule in my book... everything is the governments fault ;)  It has the added benefit of normally being right ;)   Take a $400 a week drug habit and turn it into a $4 a week drug habit and you're talking a lot fewer crimes to feed their habit though.   Bad people will do bad things, nothing we can do will ever changes that...  we lock up those bad people and keep them separate from the rest of us...   But, how many people in your career did you arrest who were trying to steal to feed their smoking or drinking habit?  How much of our property crime is really related to cost of tobacco and alcohol?  I'd estimate it to be a very small fraction of said crime.  More importantly, when was the last time you saw Marlboro men do a drive by on Joe Camel's men over a street corner?   Maybe we trade a 10-15% increase in violent crime due to some more folks becoming addicted to drugs...  but in return we drastically reduce violent crime by moving the sale of drugs from the streets to stores, along with reducing petty and property crimes by drastically reducing the price of the product...  drastically reduce law enforcement costs, K9 units, asset seizures, questionable searches, no knock raids, shooting of family pets... etc.     It's not some utopia, those don't exist, but it's clear to any rational person that the war on drugs is much worse at this point, than the drugs themselves.    

Are those the scenarios? I know the Russians have subs off our coast; they always have had. We do the same to them. What do you think those subs will do? The Islamic centers will be dealt with locally if they become a problem. And unless posse comitatus is repealed (and it will be some day) the border is not a military issue now. I’m not making any arguments for cutting military spending; I just don’t understand how anyone would think that would lead to an invasion of our country.

  Keep ethanol gas away from those things. Biggest killer of engines (especially two-stroke) I know of.

  Very much this. Consider also storage space for your gear. For two people, you'll want either a 3 or possibly 4 person tent.

You can try newegg.com , I used to buy a lot of computer parts through them when I was building computers. Not sure how cheap they are now, but would be worth the look...

Shop local before you buy the lower. Reason I say this, for a lower you may find a good deal on one and that is great, until you go pick it up and add a $25 or $35 transfer fee to it. Ask me how I know lol.

Having a pretty lucky day so far. Drove to Sevierville to do the Bass Pro/SMKW/Bud's tour this morning. I walked into Bass Pro and found a pound of IMR 4227 on the shelf along with a good selection of projectiles. Then went into Bud's and found CCI Subsonics, which I haven't seen on the shelf since Sandy Hook.   A quick review on Buds: I was really impressed. Great selection, friendly staff who could actually talk about guns and shooting. Lots of rifles and handguns, even a Saiga 12 at pre-hysteria pricing. They had some droolworthy items too: a Sako Finnlight in 6.5x55 and several Guncrafter No Name 1911s in 45 and 9mm. Tons of ammo including 22lr and 22mag and a decent selection of accessories. When they finish stocking up and get their range open the place is going to be incredible.

As some of you are aware from Cap's thread http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/80608-jon-graham-gmt-ss3-razel/ a lot of people are pimping their Jon Graham Razel midtechs. Well, today was the day I got mine pimped out. I am fortunate enough to have a friend who is friends with Jon, so I got to go up to Graham's shop and watch him pimp-out my Razel exactly how I wanted it. He is a really great guy with some amazing skills. He anodized the scales green, stonewashed them, and then came back with a bronze anodizing. He also bronzed the clip, standoffs, and screws. He then acid washed the blade, stonewashed it, and put a razor sharp edge on it. I have already cut the crap out of myself with it. Here are the results. I think it turned out pretty awesome. This is the first, but not the last Graham knife in my collection.

I need to quick being a slacker and get my arms around some reasonable method of water storage.

Pour it from the case into the pan of your scale if you want to check the charge weight, and you'll need a funnel like the one above to put the powder back into the case. You could also pour it in the top of the expander die while belling the case mouth, but I never do it that way.   Don't you have a reloading manual?

Because it doesn't protect us in anyway shape or form here at home where it matters?  Nobody is going to invade this country...  the civilian population if too well armed, and if we'd repeal the Hughes Amendment we'd be ever better armed.   Here is one example of how you cut the military by a lot and not impact our ability to fight anybody who attacks us.   * With the exception of Pentagon, training commands - basic, and AIT, shutdown the entire active duty Army.  Move all the BCT of the current Active Duty Army and Reserves into the National Guard.  Remove the obvious overlaps...  Add 9-12 BCT's in addition to the Army/Reserve migration.   * Again with the exceptions of the Pentagon, NORAD/Space Command and training commands, move all Air Force, and Air Force Reserve units into the Air National Guard.  Removing all the overlapping commands.   Move dedicated CAS aircraft to the Army National Guard.  Move SIGINT/JSTAR/AWACs to the Navy, and Special Operations aircraft to JSOC/Navy.   * Double the size of the Marine Corp, closing down the Marine Corp Reserves in the process.  Move all fixed and rotary wing units to the Navy.   * Keep the Navy for the most part as is..  add 2 or 3 carrier groups to the current roster.   * Move JSOC into a true fifth branch of the military, move all JSOC attached units to that command and cutting the strings back to their home services completely, remove all overlapping training commands.   * Closed down all bases outside of US territory, create a limited number of joint bases with the Navy/Marines/host country.  The host country will provide the land/port free of charge and we'll build the infrastructure, and keep a complete war fighting package at each joint base to quickly respond to any threat.  Create 2 in Europe - Probably German/Poland and Italy/Turkey..  1 in Asia - South Korea, 1 Middle East - UEA/Qatar, 1 Africa - Djibouti, 2 Australia, 1 South America.  And no other bases Naval, or land base allowed without approval of congress.   * NG and ANG units would pull a 1 year tour at one of the above bases every 6 years to provide maintenance and security, Naval, Marine and JSOC units would be permanently stationed at these bases as well.   That closes over 900 foreign military bases, and drastically reduces the cost of the military...  and in no way shape or form reduces our ability to protect ourselves.   If we're attacked at home, we'd have plenty of training NG troops to engage the fight while we spun up military training of the civilian population..  If we were attacked here at home, but had to respond overseas, we'd have pre-positioned military assets, and a small force already in place ready to go until we could move forces from here to those bases and onto the war zone.   FYI, this plan would cut the cost of our current military by more than half.

Question:  How big of a military do we need to protect us at home?   Answer: A lot smaller of a military than we'll have after these cuts.

  The LEO who is truly a professional and is genuinely trying to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens knows he has a hard job, but he doesn't use that as an excuse to violate those citizens' rights, and we shouldn't accept it as an excuse either.

  So basically you are advocating a LEO threatening deadly force against a citizen who is committing no crime and had made no threatening actions, right?

In which case he should be looking for a new job. I am always on the lookout for potential threats, too. That doesn't mean I whip out Ol' Roscoe every time I see a gun on someone I don't know.

That is a HUGE no no (for me)! I will flat out return the sweet tea over that because I always ask and repeat "No lemon". I love lemonade, and love sweet tea, just separately.

It is about money. The war is winding down. Each Army  division is loosing one Brigade Combat Team. The loss will be replace by a NG BCT that will become attached to that division for practical purposes. The war is winding down. A large standing Military cost money. The Reserves are cheaper.. This has happened after every war.   Majority of the worlds militaries or defense forces are small with a large reserve if needed. 

Its just like the Clinton purges from the mid-late 90s.    Back then it was to "right-sized" the Army for the "peace dividend" that was suppose to pay down the national debt.  We know how well that money was spent! 

Of course he is removing as many high ranking military personnel as he can as fast as he can because he is scared to death of our military and any possible plans he has for our country in his last 2 + years in Office. He knows for a fact that most of or about 95%+ will not follow any orders he may give against the Civilian Americans that goes against any part of our Constitution or their moral aspects so he must find younger and more manipulative lower ranking officers that he can still brainwash into doing his deeds. All in all I think he is going to be hard pressed to find very many real men at all that will follow him when push comes to shove...........jmho

As much as I love the Old Muscle, you can't deny that today's performance cars are leaps and bounds ahead of that great era of the 60s and early 70s.   Example - - - The new 2015 Mustang GT's 5.0-liter (302 c.i.) engine produces 435hp and 400 lb-ft of torque while getting a combined 20+mpg.   AND you don't have to adjust any solid lifters, clean & re-gap the plugs, or set the points before every weekend! 

Well, it appears that Troy industries is implementing a version of this device into their AR's now. Fortunately this company understands their customer base is too stupid to count higher than 1 so they simplified it: . . . . . . . . . . :D

I think that's the best way to watch them because you can watch 3 or 4 episodes at a time. Watching from week to week always leaves me wanting more at the end of each episode.
