With the opening of a new BPS here in Bristol, one of my son's friends applied for and was offered a position. The last day of training, they were reviewing store policies, and the new employees were advised that they cannot store an otherwise legally-owned firearm in their vehicle while parked at the BPS - to do so will be grounds for immediate dismissal. He questioned his understanding of the policy, and was told that he did understand it correctly - and that this was BPS's corporate policy. He politely handed his "uniforms" back to the manager and told them that he would not be taking the position. Hopefully, the Cabela's that is building a store just 6 miles up the road will have a bit more common sense.3 points

I have read on the internet (so you know it must be true) that light bullets going very fast are purported to be the problem. 110s and 125s at max speed are to be avoided according to lore. That is one helluva carry piece! Congratulations.2 points

Did you notify anyone at the church of your wife's condition. Sometimes we take it for granted that they know of our problems. You may want to give them a call. Just saying2 points

I prepare and maintain preparedness in order to protect the prescious lives of my loved ones. Protecting my own life (being able to partner/provide as a husband and instruct/love as a parent) is a part of that. I don't want to be in a situation to have to employ deadly force; I would much rather Avoid, Evade, or Escape. "Engage" remains the last option on that short, comprehensive list. Gunfights are a nasty business, and there is nothing in me that needs to prove anything to anyone by choosing "Engage" when one of my other three options remain. That's why Situational Awareness is my first defense employed... always.2 points

I agree with the above. Just built my first pistol and like it mucho!2 points

I'm not preparing for anything.....I'm already prepared. I carry a handgun for the same reason there is a jack, spare tire, jumper cables, and flashlight in my truck. Just in case. If I have reason to believe there will be trouble, I'll be somewhere else, or else I'll have a rifle.2 points

Picked up 8-11-14 from Tennessee Gun Country. Picked up some Federal white box ammo, 230gr ball. Shot it right after purchase, liked it, got dies, brass, primers and some Hornady 230gr XTPs and Magnus 215gr LSWCs. Been reloading and shooting some more Federal white box to get more brass for reloading. The Magnus bullets make me really happy, they make such neat "big" round holes in the target. I have found another caliber to reload, I am having so much fun with this Glock! Tennessee Gun Country gives LEO, Military/retired a good deal plus the Glock discount. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!1 point

Picked me up a Barnett Wildcat C5 a few weeks ago. Shoots great but I decided to re-fletch some of the bolts it came with. Stripped the old 4 inch vanes and replaced them with 2 inch blazer vanes. Shoots even better now.1 point

Thanks, the 3" k frames are awesome. They are the smallest and lightest guns I care anything about shooting magnums. I shoot some magnums through my 640 but it is just for laughs. I have some dies if you want to borrow them.1 point

lightweight full magnum loads are also trouble and can gas-cut older smiths. This is not a good gun for the 90 grain +P load, in other words. In all cases, its NOT the bullet weight, its the combination of the load data. A 38sp powered load in 90 grains won't gas-cut. A modest load in 180 grains won't crack anything. 38s are plenty for punching paper and save wear&tear on both the gun and the shooter... I recommend them over a steady diet of magnums.1 point

For some medium 357s, or maybe 38+p++ if you will, I really liked a 158gr and Bullseye. I have no hard documentation as to why I thought it was so great, but I just dig that combo. Not a hot, blasty 357, but more than a little cap-gun 38.1 point

I believe it's a SIG MPX pistol. Which I guess is an AR, just a piston driven one. http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductList/sig-mpx-sig-mpx.aspx But you can do the same with direct impingement ARs also: - OS1 point

Not being armed, does not preclude you from being shot by police. Now I haven't read the story or know the facts of the situation. I just hate the "he wasn't armed" defense. Because that's not necessary to justify a shooting1 point

The need creates the basic locations. I was part of starting a BCT Brigade at Ft Bliss, TX in fall of 1965. We were all sent there from the First Armor Division at Ft. Hood. A bunch of tankers walking around going "Are they crazy?" (We didn't know about WTF) Little did we knowthat the 1st Air Cav would be in Vietnam in a few months and it was on big time. The draft would eventually reach 44,000 a month-200 new companies a month!1 point

Like Patton says... Heavier bullets.... I like 13.5 to 15 grains of 2400 and anybodies 158 grain hard cast semi wadcutters with standard primers and a real heavy crimp.... leroy1 point

Cops won’t search your car unless it’s an investigation into a criminal offense. Having a gun in your car is not an offense. The store can ask to search, you can refuse and they can fire you. I’m sure this all driven by the lawyers and insurance companies.1 point

I would venture to say no that it will not fix it. However, I would give it a try to see if it is a fix. Glock has been really reluctant to admitt that any of the later model Glocks have an issue. I bet they get a couple of hundred complaints a day about BTF.1 point

Note that the primary purpose of the crown is to protect the rifling from damage should you whack the muzzle on something. A flat muzzle that's square to the bore and deburred will function just fine. That said, you don't know if it has accuracy problems until you shoot it.1 point

I'm more worried about ball cancer than I am about meeting AQ outside of their stomping grounds. Of course they'll try to attack us again and probably succeed to some degree, but the chances of being a direct victim or being in a position to intervene is about as likely as Jennifer Anniston showing up at my door to service me and make a sammich. Not saying that I don't fantasize about that happening, and keep hope alive that it does, I'm just realistic about the odds. I carry because it is my duty to protect my family, and a firearm is more effective than a broadsword, although not nearly as fashionable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Yep, they are super nice at MCTS. There is no point in wasting a day just watching when you could be shooting! It isn't rocket science, and as long as you are safe in your gun handling you won't have any problems... but you will have LOTS of fun!1 point

My best friend's son use a .22 Hornet to take a Michigan doe. He made a neck shot at 50 yards and it went right down. I've taken deer with .221 Fireball and .222, always a neck shot, always dropped in its tracks. Those little varmint rounds are deadly with the right shot placement, but you have to have that perfect shot scenario. That's why my NORMAL deer caliber is a 7/08. With it, I can poke 'em anywhere in the frontal body cavity and it's brown on the ground.1 point

Love mine. :pleased: I'm saving my pennies for an Aimpoint T1/H1 right now as this little sucker is simply begging for it. I plan to pick up one for an AR pistol build (have the pieces and just haven't put them together yet) and put a 300 BLK upper on it as a "next year" project...Money, you know? I really like Oh Shoot's concept and will model after that.1 point

Totally worth it IMO. As KKing mentioned, a KAK or equivalent tube is a good idea to maximize the value. Terrible pic, but here's my ransom shot. It has a K2 grip on it now. Aside from being a bit too thin in profile I like it. I'm going to keep it on for now and see if it grows on me 100%.1 point

I still like Hunt For Red October even though Baldwin stars in it, i'm not going to let the fact that he's an idiot off stage ruin a good movie for me. after all his ranting and raving about moving to Canada if Bush got re-elected, at the end of the day it made no difference whatsoever, Bush got re-elected and he didn't move to Canada. All it accomplished was to make alot of people laugh at him.1 point

I’ve recently learned of the Huey P. Newton Gun Club demonstrations in Dallas, TX, where a sizable group of black gun owners are protesting police brutality while they open carry. More information here (Reason.com) and here (BearingArms.com). I’ll be perfectly honest here: I’m downright excited about this. While I don’t share their seemingly leftist views, I support their right to open carry in a peaceful demonstration. I don’t need to agree with someone’s politics to recognize their 1st and 2nd amendment rights and support their exercise of these rights. And I’m hopeful that this gun club goes viral and spreads across the country, inspiring other black folks to educate themselves and pursue legal and responsible gun ownership. I couldn’t find a thread discussing this particular topic, so I thought I’d start one. What do you all think? Would you support a peaceful open carry demonstration started —or inspired— by the Huey P. Newton Gun Club protesting police brutality in your town/city?1 point
