Hey guys. I got some good news to report - I'm officially a college graduate as of yesterday. I took my leave from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Athens yesterday, with my Machinist I diploma in hand. After 20 months of turning handles within the walls of Machine Tool Technology, I am now certified. It's a pretty proud moment for everyone around me, and myself as well. When I started the course in January 2013, I never thought I would even make it this far; but I have, in what seems like a few days' time in retrospect, 20 months has cruised on by. But it paid off. I graduated with honors (my grade average has never been below 97; for the past year it has been 100 across the board) and perfect attendance for all 20 months. It was a pretty emotional event, in a way, last night. The yearly ceremony was held at Athens Middle School. It was tough to go through, knowing that I had to move on from several very close friends and co-students, as well as my instructor; but through the magic of email and transportation, it is not good-bye so much as, until next time. Now I await my next move - getting into a good job. I already have a good lead; I hope it leads to something great. I want to become a top-class machinist, and a hard-working American's American like the great folks here on TGO. Anyway, hey, thanks for hearing my spiel, fellas.4 points

As to the "headline" I wonder who will be sued. The guy responsible already paid with his life so can't blame him. Certainly the business will be sued by the parents. Who's gonna charge the parents for incredible foolishness and irresponsibility in allowing a 9 year old to shoot a fully automatic weapon?4 points

Towards the end of a round of golf, Dave hit his ball into the woods and found it in a patch of pretty, yellow buttercups. Trying to get his ball back in play, he ended up thrashing just about every buttercup in the patch. All of a sudden, POOF! In a flash and puff of smoke, a little old woman appeared. She said, 'I'm Mother Nature! Do you know how long it took me to make those buttercups? Just for doing what you have done, you won't have any butter for your popcorn for the rest of your life... better still, you won't have any butter for your toast for the rest of your life... As a matter of fact, you'll never have any butter for anything for the rest of your life!!!' Then POOF!... she was gone! After Dave recovered from the shock, he hollered for his friend, 'Fred, where are you?' Fred yells back 'I'm over here in the pussy willows.' Dave shouts back, 'DON'T SWING, Fred!' FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T SWING!!!'3 points

Which department filed charges first and which department filed the second charges? If the ex just shopped around to a different LEA then I suppose the only difference is she got her stories more detailed and rehearsed before approaching LEA number two? And I suppose if they drop charges on this one she'll go to another LEA. God help this man if he ever goes to another county with his daughter. She'd just go to the police/sheriff and say he raped his daughter in their jurisdiction. Considering folks accused of rape are guilty until proven innocent (and often remain guilty even AFTER they are found not guilty) what does she have to lose? This happens a lot. But so does rape. I don't know what happened, but I've grown accustom to not believing sensational headlines, and I'm almost always right for doing so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

You assume too much, The way I keep up with this is the way I did the LG101, The first post in this thread is always updated with who paid for a knife, that is what really matters here. Things happen and some folks who at the time were on board may not be able to afford to do this now, on the other hand some may have the means and want to get more than one now, there is NO way for me to know until they actuality become a customer and Pay. Having said that the only thing I get out of this deal is a free knife, so I am buying 3 additional,If everyone who has shown interest in this commits, I am sure we will get enough orders to make this happen, Dave and the Pro Tech guys just think it is really cool that they get to do forum knives for a Group of Gun guys in Tennessee and I love supporting a company like them who still has Integrity and morals and are making their products here in the United States and do not outsource to other countries for their manufacturing,2 points

I disagree here. IMO, this shill argument falls apart when you are talking about storing an otherwise legally-owned firearm in your vehicle. I can understand (not agree with, just understand) the argument with regards to CARRY IN THE WORKPLACE, but to extend that fear to a situation where the employee would first have to leave his work station, go to his vehicle, then return is stretching it too far. Sounds like an creation straight outta MTAS... But, following that argument for a second just for s***s and giggles: if you, Mr Employer, cannot trust that employee YOU hired any further than that, then why on earth should I trust him to execute a transaction with your store...hmmm?2 points

best thing to do is keep it to yourself. Always. Don't ask and don't tell. I guess if I did not need the job I might walk away, but then if I did not need the job why would I care if down the road I got fired for having a gun in my car?2 points

Triggers are smooth as silk on these two (after very light polishing of internals with mothers mag polish) and both have custom grip panels. They shoot great! Tried a bunch of different grips but keep coming back to the factory rubber ones. Would like to add a Smith to replace my model 19 nickel I foolishly sold though. But they are nice revolvers. One with darker grips I've had since 1992 and the lighter grips belong to a 2014 model. thanks for looking! I1 point

DOLAN SPRINGS, Ariz. (AP) - A 9-year-old girl accidentally killed an Arizona shooting instructor as he was showing her how to use an automatic Uzi, authorities said Tuesday. http://www.wkrn.com/story/26377047/officials-girl-accidentally-kills-gun-instructor1 point

Stuck out here in CA, but had to see some guns and found a nice shop. They had a killer selection of CA complaint AR's in there. HK's LWRC's R.E.P.R, and on. Very well stocked with AR's. :yes Didn't take pics inside, but they had a couple rides out front, so I snapped pics of those. With the opening of a new BPS here in Bristol, one of my son's friends applied for and was offered a position. The last day of training, they were reviewing store policies, and the new employees were advised that they cannot store an otherwise legally-owned firearm in their vehicle while parked at the BPS - to do so will be grounds for immediate dismissal. He questioned his understanding of the policy, and was told that he did understand it correctly - and that this was BPS's corporate policy. He politely handed his "uniforms" back to the manager and told them that he would not be taking the position. Hopefully, the Cabela's that is building a store just 6 miles up the road will have a bit more common sense.1 point

Years ago I had my nefew shot quite a few 22s from a Marlin model 60 when he was 10 then he really wanted to shoot my SKS, the first mag I had a grip on the forearm, I could see he could handle it okay but I still stayed close by his side for a while. Build them up slowly to the bigger guns.1 point

But what if the parents know absolutely nothing about firearm safety ultimately and was unaware if the possible dangers with the Uzi? I mean after all movies portray automatic fire as something that never ends, never hits innocent bystanders, and is always on target and easily controllable. Since they were paying the instructor I am assuming I feel 99.99% of the blame falls in the deceased. Sucks for him but it was his fault.1 point

Beautiful guns. An amazing pair actually. I'm kind of envious of them. I picked up a GP100 a couple of years ago when I stopped in a gun shop off I40 at the Carthage Exit. A little place, but I'd been wanting to stop in anyway after several times going by it. Anyway, not a huge selection of guns. More a store for accessories for the hunters and shooters. But in the case...I saw the GP. I'd passed one by a few months earlier, and this one was not getting away. I talked with the owner a while, and got it for 430 otd. I think I made a good buy. It won't replace my 2 Smith 19s, but I really like it.1 point

It was a mini Uzi at that. Way too much gun to handle. And the instructor was in a horrible position. He know the gun will climb, he shouldn't have been standing there. Video in link. http://www.myfoxdfw.com/story/26368466/girl-accidentally-shoots-instructor-in-arizona1 point
Start them out shooting alot of .22's first to learn the basics of shooting. A full-auto Uzi is just too much for a 9 year old girl. Stupid tragic accident and in no way is the little girl to blame for anything. I hope they keep telling her that over and over so she believes it but i'm afraid she's scarred for life from this.
Agreed. I should have worded it differently. I meant when you are going to intruduce them to a full auto. Not their first gun.1 point

Not only Ca, but riverside to boot. :p sorry. Little known tidbit, Riverside was the original setting planned for Breaking Bad. Due to filming costs they opted for NM. If you want some cheap entertainment, start asking the locals about the "secret tunnels" connecting Mount Ruby-do (sp) to the hotel. Don't tell them the building on the mountain is just an old pump house, it spoils the fun. Oh and if you see my uncle Bob tell him I said hi, you can't miss him, he's usually got a beard but sometimes shaves. Have fun!1 point
You don’t need to be armed to get shot. Very few details other than they were responding to shots fired and when they ordered him to the ground he grabbed at his waist. His brother said he was pulling his pants up. He had a warrant for probation violation on felony robbery. Maybe Obama will call the Chief and tell him to be "transparent" with this investigation. Or maybe he can send Holder to tell BS stories about being harassed by the cops.
"..he grabbed at his waist. His brother said he was pulling his pants up." I'm more worried about ball cancer than I am about meeting AQ outside of their stomping grounds. Of course they'll try to attack us again and probably succeed to some degree, but the chances of being a direct victim or being in a position to intervene is about as likely as Jennifer Anniston showing up at my door to service me and make a sammich. Not saying that I don't fantasize about that happening, and keep hope alive that it does, I'm just realistic about the odds. I carry because it is my duty to protect my family, and a firearm is more effective than a broadsword, although not nearly as fashionable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I like different hot sauces for their flavors and what it adds to the food. I like to "enjoy" my meals and do not enjoy the pain that some hot sauces are made to inflict! I think those evil "burn your face off" sauces are made as novelties. No way can anyone enjoy eating something that will destroy your meal and your face! Dave1 point

For years I thought synthetic was snake oil, a gimmick to get your money. I finally made a home test, and just based upon fuel economy principals alone, its worth the premium to use synthetic. Mobil1 is my choice, and I use 15 quarts every 10K miles in my diesel truck. It costs me $120 per oil change. Change it yourself. There are just some things men must do, pee standing up, do not use GPS, and change their own oil.1 point
