I was in Scottsdale, AZ the other day. I saw a bumper sticker on a parked car that read: " I miss Chicago" . So I broke the window, stole the radio, shot out two of the tires, added an Obama bumper sticker and left a note that read, "Hope this helps.â€10 points

If the networks aren't covering it...you can bet there's a reason other than his popularity. I'd guess to draw the focus away from the content. You know the lowest-common-denominator watchers won't hear of it any other way. So possibly a way to slide it by some.5 points

You're running a heat pump. "Emergency heat" is a backup heat source - generally electric for when the ambient temperature outside is too cold for the heat pump to operate effectively. As an old physics professor of mine used to say, "when I see that light come on, I know I'm going to be eating peanut butter sandwiches..."4 points

I have picked up two air rifles from Essex Bargain Hunt in Franklin. Both are Gammo and shoot great. They have two other air guns in the back at deep discounts. I bought both of mine for less that 40 each and there were more that 120 on amazon. If you are looking for a deal they are a good place to look. They will not have a huge selection, but you can't beat the price. You can call and ask what they have. Bargain Hunt Discount Store 4140 Carothers Pkwy, Franklin, TN 37067 (615) 591-07743 points

I'm curious about this as well. There are very very few apartment complexes inside the city that I would consider a safe area. 48 Hours filmed a lot in Memphis because Memphis has one of the highest solve rates in the country. Be it our "excellent detectives" or our incredibly stupid criminals, most of them get caught. However, your impressions are why the city government kicked them out. They felt that people were starting to look at Memphis negatively and told the show to get packing. As terrible as Memphis is to all the people that hate it from afar or have moved away, I've been here for 31 years and haven't had an issue. My dad lived his entire life here, dating back to 1955 and never had an issue. We lived in a poor part of town that many would consider a high crime area. And yet we were never robbed, broken into or murdered. As has been mentioned before, much of Memphis' violent crime is between people that know each other. Outside of work, I don't associate with criminals. And its working out swimmingly for me thus far.3 points

I'd sell my S&W 29-2, 8 3/8 inch but I'm just too wishy washy. A few days from now I could be persuaded to sell it. Then again...I really enjoy shooting the heck out of it. Recoil is ok, accuracy is outstanding. The trigger is light because i put a spring kit in it. I even have a holster although to draw it can be a pain see'n as how you keep drawing and drawing til the muzzle clears leather. :D1 point

Watch those. Many are no different than soda, just without the carbonation and coloring. I dropped more than 30lbs a few years ago through diet and exercise but the streak was broken by going on a cruise. I didn't gain much weight on the cruise itself but got out of the good habits. Now I'm back where I was and not too happy about it. I was feeling more healthy and starting to look good down at that weight so now I'm trying again. Most of the false starts over the intervening years have been diet without exercise or exercise without diet. I really need both. The exercise is a great motivator to watch the diet since I hate exercise and it just means wasted effort if I eat crap. Sugars and starches really are the enemy which is difficult as I'm a big fan of bread and sandwiches. Also a problem around here as nearly everything is dipped in batter or breadcrumbs before deep-frying. Sweet things I can mostly do without so that's not such a big deal. Two things I found really useful: Eggs (several ways to cook them, easy and quick) and bananas (starchy but only about 100 cals per banana and occupy your attention if you're eating partly out of boredom and very cheap)1 point

If you have a smartphone, I highly recommend downloading an app like MyFitnessPal and using it to track your calories. It has a huge database of nutritional info for just about every food product out there, including restaurant foods, and it even has a bar code scanner that makes getting the data even easier. IMO, one of the most important reasons to use an app like this is that it will help you figure out what foods that you didn't think are that bad, are really killing your diet. For example, putting mayo on your sandwich may cost you 100 calories, whereas sticking with just yellow mustard adds virtually no calories. You'll learn that you can make less drastic sacrifices that allow you to still eat well and lose/maintain weight. Good luck on your transformation!1 point

My pleasure....now about the consulting fees... Addendum...Check the site GrabAGun.Com. I have bought several from them and been very satisfied. But to the point...they are offering the Sig Nightmare now for 799. And in the past I believe had the Scorpion at a similar price.1 point

That's how I felt when I was younger. I used to call it a "speed tax". I got older pretty quick. Last time I got a ticket was over a decade ago, and that was less about speeding and more about me not paying attention to the speed limit in an unfamiliar area, and I was droned out from a long drive. I see no benefit to speeding. The amount of time saved by speeding is marginal, and doesn't make sense when doing a cost/benefit analysis. It baffles me when I meet folks who are my age and complain about being pulled over all the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

^^^^This. Don't overlook the security six line either. You might be able to pick up a used glock and a ruger .357 for the money of a new sig (226/229/220) etc1 point

I'd buy one, they're cheap enough. Might even have to take it to the range every once in a while to make everyone else jealous.1 point

At the least, transporting firearms as per FOPA regs will certainly cover you anywhere in the SouthEast. As I guess you know, anyone not prohibited from ownership may now have loaded firearms in their vehicle in TN. Certainly, no probs in Bama any more than in TN of bringing your TSA compliant-packed firearms for checked luggage on a flight. - OS1 point

i really appreciate all I have received for sure. I know there are some really great deer hunters here and i have many friends that are not in TGO yet and I do mean yet but I am working on them. Back when I was able to hunt and we had the ranch and all the land to hunt we would take about 10 deer a year and two went in the freezer and 8 went to needy families in our community all processed which we did ourselves back then. Had the band saw and boning knives and meat grinders in the ranch killing room used for the ranch at killing time. These days I think a person can harvest about 15 deer in the either sex hunts we never use to have. Ours were always Buck only hunts. I hope that anyone that gets a really good harvest and can see a way to share a deer I hope they do. If I have any more show up here I will be hunting for someone to give it too. I will also be telling the hunter that I will be passing the deer on to someone else that has not been able to bag.one this year. I don't think it would be fair to the hunter not to tell them because all that have brought me deer would be more than understanding...............  I did have 1 guy say he could harvest 2 more in Gun season and he said his freezers are full so he will be bringing them here. If he does I will be passing it on.1 point

Be care what you ask for............. :ugh: All I requested was one but I really do appreciate the others also. I promise not one piece of the deer meat will go to waste. The thing that impressed me the most is 3 of the deer I received came from a phone call of a local processor and he told me I had a deer to be picked up so when I got there I was expecting to pay the processing fee and I was told I did not owe anything. It was already paid for. That happened 2 more times and the one I got today the deer hunter was not a member here and he processes his own deer and he brought it all processed and looked as professional as any I have got so far. I offered to pay him and he would not take anything. So far i have only paid for 1. He said his freezers are full and he still has 2 tags he can fill and I said if you don't have any room bring them here and I will make room. I didn't tell him I just went and bought one of the Haier Apartment size chest freezer and have it in the bait room plugged up and should be ready for meat or other frozen foods tomorrow. Now even though I trust Gallatin Electric Company completely I guess I better start shopping a generator I can afford that will run both freezers if nothing else. I can survive as long as I keep my meat frozen. Never really know what Mother Nature will throw at us. Look at the 15 feet of snow in New York and 12 feet in Michigan. I guess I can't feel bad for those folks and don't really know why. They just seem to attract bad luck all the time. I want to call it self inflicted but I don't think every one in the state deserves what is happening up there...............jmho1 point

And the criteria for evidence to find you guilty is a lot lower in a civil court. It might be harder to convict you in criminal court but you might also loose your freedom. In civil court you are not risking your freedom but it is also easier for you to loose everything. And one more thing a lot of people do not realize is anyone can file a lawsuit for anything and it must be heard by a judge. Someone can bring a civil suit against someone else for any reason and no matter how ludicrous the lawsuit is the lawsuit must be heard before it can be thrown out. And call me crazy but I would NEVER find myself in front of a judge without an attorney by my side, no matter how crazy the lawsuit might sound. Fortunately there are also remedies for those who have been hit with a frivolous lawsuit.1 point

I was wondering the same thing. It sure does have more than a passing resemblance to the wallet holsters. I suppose since it's all integrated then it's OK? On the up side, it doesn't have GRIPZONE embossed on it.1 point

The difference is the ability of the barrel to lock up in the same orientation to the slide every time. Mechanically that is a fine line between success and failure. If you can machine the barrel, barrel bushing, slide and frame to a perfect fit; you have success, but if you tighten the fit to perfect or near perfect you may be in trouble when you apply the coefficient of thermal expansion. Therefore you need enough clearance to repeat but not so tight it locks up or drags when it heats up. Use to be those guns were machined “one off†and hand fitted. Today those can produced in much higher numbers. Will a custom built target 1911 operate perfectly with Bubba doing mag dumps? No. But he will blame the magazines, ammo and everything else before he admits he’s using the gun for something other than it was designed for. The biggest factor is the shooter. People who don’t have the ability or don’t shoot a lot will spend $3500 on a handgun and expect it to shoot 5 shot touching groups at 25 or 50 yards. So what will happen if you spend $3k on a 1911? You will tighten up that group to as tight as you have the ability to do. Is it worth it? Not to me, I don’t shoot in competition anymore. If I did I would probably do it. But that’s your call. So the bottom line is you get the physics, metallurgy, and ballistics that you pay for, the rest is dependent on your skill. Your revolvers don’t suffer from the problem of the barrel and the sights moving separately; so you shoot it better; we all do.1 point

Glad he is ok as well, hope I never have to deal with that situation. Us Memphians tend to be a little sensitive as it seems sometimes people go out of their way to emphasize that something happened in Memphis as if it would be a statistical improbability that same event could ever happen outside our city limits...1 point

I f you ever get down this way holler at me and I'll let you shoot a couple of $3000 1911's I have and then you can tell me the difference.1 point

*some* of the high end stuff can make a smaller group than that at 50 yards -- these are expensive competition guns for professionals, yes. But they can do it, and the small # of shooters who can pull it off need such a gun. What you are paying for is effectively a hand made gun. Its hand fitted every which way, the trigger job is carefully done, and more. Most people don't need all that. Just like most people don't need a $10k competition "sniper" rifle. Just like most folks don't need a 1/4 million dollar sports car. Anyone who has the cash can buy pricy stuff ... whether they need it or not. A few people "need" it ... they get paid to win competitions, its a tool for their job.1 point

As an officer I actually feel relieved when someone informs me of a HCP and them handing it over. I just assume there is a firearm in every vehicle and those that have a HCP are a lot less of a worry to me. I can not think of a single traffic stop where I have given a citation to someone who has voluntarily handed over a HCP.1 point
