  1. I think wcd just invented a new word:   snoob noun - derogatory 1. a person who is new to the shooting sports yet insists on the need for high-end professional firearms and gear. 2. a person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur of firearms despite limited experience.   Origin 2014 First used on web forum Tennessee Gun Owners by member wcd. A combination of "snob" and "n00b".   Examples for snoob After shooting skeet for the first time with his boss, Jerry sold his kidney in Mexico and bought a Krieghoff K80 Competition. What a snoob. That snoob shot his cousin's Ed Brown 1911. Now he thinks he's too good for my blinged out Taurus 1911 with the gold trigger. A snoob says: "You can't use an AR with an HBAR to clear rooms. I went to a class in Vegas and that's what the SEALRangerGreenBeretDelta instructor told me."

  2. Evidently you just can't make some people happy. It was a crap shoot and everyone knew it. Crying about it is just silly. What happened online is no different than what happens at any retailer who offers that good of a deal whether online or in person. At least you got to stay in your underwear fighting the crowd at the cyber door, instead of getting trampled in the cold ;-)

  3. Bought a gun (don't remember what) from Walmart, went through background check and then waited 30 min for a csm to "carry" my gun to the front door. On the way I asked why, she said company policy, "don't want anyone loading a gun in the store", I told her that gun was safe, it was protected by the 2 I had on me that were fully loaded. Should have seen the look on her face, I thought she was going to crap a brick.

  6. Yeah I've got one of those in my head too. Mines three words and can't be printed here since this is a family friendly forum, but the third word is "yourselves", and the first word is "go", so I'm sure you all can piece together the rest.

  7. Could be a build up of calcium in the tank. I have seen it build up all the way to well above the lower element. This robs the tank of water and also wastes energy heating up the crud.

  8. Unless you plan on playing in bar tournaments I would look at 8 ft tables (if you have the room); your guests that are pool players will appreciate it. The slate and the cushions are the key to the materials. The assembly of the slate and the level of the table are the key to the installation. I would think that a company that makes their own tables would have a good install team; but that’s just a WAG.

  9. Got lucky today and took this eight point. I've hunted a little spot a few times the last couple weeks and haven't had any luck. I went in mainly to call and kill coyote. I've soft called a couple times but haven't had any takers. A few grey fox showed up but season wasn't open yet. I decided to take the muzzleloader in after noticing that a rub line had been hit in the last couple days. The woman that owns the property asked that I kill coyote first, don't shoot mom or baby deer, and only take big bucks. Since Sept. I've seen zero coyote, 12 or 13 doe and this buck.

  12. Shooting with the general public can be exciting enough as it is, I'm personally glad that most ranges won't let John Q Public practice yanking their gats out of their clipped on uncle Mikes with me and my family in the next lane. "Rapid fire" rules do suck for those of us who are capable of both walking AND talking at the same time, but it is what it is.

  13. Agreed. I got a Dremel as teenager and if anything I did during those years counts for anything today, I can wield a cutoff wheel with authoritay. ;) I'm having hard time picturing the problem though, is the actual scope itself that's hitting the rail, or the lens cover or what? Second, is the rail got some kind of unique mounting scheme or hole pattern? Short sections of weaver rail are cheap, in fact I have more than I need if it could work for you. Any chance of some pics of the issue?

  14. I don’t know what a gun snoob is, () but the express is a $300 shotgun for those that want cheap. If you want better fit and finish look at the Police or Wingmaster models.

  15. there is a blind hole/slot inside the trigger.  The small leg of the spring goes in that hole.  I thought the spring was held in place by a pin, but it sits in the half moon cutoff right by the blond hole.  I had to put the trigger in a vice to hold it in place and use a hex wrench to compress the long leg of the spring under the pin on the hand.

  16. I haven't used them, but I just looked at their website. That is definitely what you're looking for and is very similar to the place here in Chattanooga I bought mine at (All South Billiards), and who installed mine originally and then moved mine when I changed houses. they do it all the time for a living. Also, I saw they charge $350 for moving with original felt. That's dead on price wise.   One more thing. Most places will have a variety of cloth for the top and rails. I went cheap on mine, but it only lasted about a year. Next time I went with Brunswick Centennial felt. It's amazing. Expensive, but amazing. It takes spin very well, has great speed, and you could spill a coke on it, wipe it down with a paper towel and keep playing. It's made with teflon coated fibers. It puts Simonis in the shade. LOL

  17. I have one and have had it about 10 years. All 8 ft tables are now made with a 3 piece slate system. Slate is the only way to go. Craiglist is an excellent source. I do use the heck outta mine, but most people don't. They buy it and it sits after a few months. If you buy one from a retailer, make sure it's a reputable game table retailer and that the price includes moving and installing. If you get one on Craigslist, be sure to add $350 or so to have it professionally moved. Disassembly is REQUIRED for a 8 ft 3 piece slate table or it can be damaged. you don't want the slate to crack from moving it assembled. I've had mine moved once and had it done by a pro. It took them about an hour to take it down, then they moved it to my new house, then about 2 hours to re-assemble reinstall the felt and level it correctly. I would NEVER try to move one without having it taken down and re-assembled. You're looking at about 700+ lbs for a good quality slate top table.

  21. The title contains the question I heard while pumping gas on my way to North Carolina today. Man next to me noticed my full sized Beretta, then laughed as I told him it was a 9mm. Then asked me if I was into "dat Springfield Ahr-moo-ree ex-deeee-esss" It is not the first time I've heard this. People seem to think that large calibers always mean large guns. I wanted to tell him that I don't need a 45 to make my dick feel big, but my girlfriend was standing near me and she's been trying to make me less mean to people I don't know. So, I just told him to enjoy the grip zone and I moved on.

  22. Asking a question for my son. He has an aluminum turkey frying pot that he uses to cook home brew in. After the last batch he washed it with some type of homebrew equipment sanitizer. When the pot dried it was black inside. Whatever he used etched the metal. Any ideas how to restore the pot, or any ideas if the black surface will affect the next batch. I always used the old blue granite wear pots but I'm dumb and old fashioned!

  24. You might want to take some sort of ibuprofen to cut down on the inflammation in your ear until it calms down.   If you have the money, a suppressor would not be a bad idea either.  I have seriously considered a suppressor to protect hearing.  It is a shame suppressors cannot be bought over the counter same day because they do reduce hearing damage.

  25. Went to Wallyworld yesterday afternoon [ Black Friday ] just to see if I could get my butt kicked by some little old lady with a shopping cart. As we [my wife and I] went past the sporting goods counter I asked if they had a 870 youth. Need it for my grandson for Christmas. The lady said they did and it was $309 less 20%. That's over $100 less than I could get my son with an FFL to get it for me at his cost. Needless to say, I jumped on it like white on rice. Only problem was that they do all their 4473's on line. One terminal, one at a time. You fill out the form on line and they send it in on line. There was one lady in front of my waiting for TICs to get back to  them. An 1 hour and 45 minutes later she got cleared. After I filled out the form on the computer I had a 2 hour wait for mine to get back. Earlier I had promised my wife that I'd take her to the Texas Road House. That was before I bought that shotgun. I caught flack for the next 3 hours over that. My only saving grace was that the Road House was open 'til 11pm. Never again, NEVER AGAIN.

  26. Funny I did the same thing to demonstrate how weak a 22 lr round was to a know it all. Shot a steel case 223 casing with my Henry the weak 22 lr drove the 223 case into the 2x6 that was set in front of it. Me I would go with the 10/22 besides you can always use two or three of them. I have been eyeing the synthetic stainless model.

  29. Lessee, yer almost right. I wore the barrel locking spring out join my Franchi O/U 12 ga. I had an old 20 ga Damascus barrel SxS that was so worn out it rattled. My old '37 Stevens 311 SxS  wore out it firing pin springs.    I would't consider owning a used Rem 1100 being a snoob. I've owned 4-5 of them over the last 40 years but I tended toward SxS and O/U's. I hope that doesn't make me a snob though. The most I ever sold my used one's was for $275 but I hear they might be up to $400 or so used. A friend went to Indiana as was on a shooting team and they got ahold of Remington to let them test some 1100's. They sent them some and told the team shoot try and shoot one to destruction. They shot non-stop for a little over 24 hours, putting well over 5k shells through the gun without cleaning it.  No issues. My own 1100's never really failed me except for  one I bought used had the rubber o-ring. If i remember right I bought 5 for a few bucks. Other than that they never broke.....ever.   You might think about one of those.... You may never have a need to buy another shotgun and they have little recoil since they're semi's. Lp    Edited to add you might spend a month checking the local pawn shops for 1100's. They're normally older and have wood stocks (pretty)... and unless someone dented up the barrel they will run forever.  You can probably find one in the $300-400 range in 12 ga,  and if you get lucky you might find on in 20a for the lil lady although the 12's really ain't bad with recoil. A lot of the high school shotgun teams gals use them.

  36. I had been out 4 days, and only seen a coyote, a bunch of squirrels and chipmunks and one fat little woodchuck. I had finally decided to come out of my stand about 5 minutes before I couldn't see and there they came, by the sound of them there had to be at least 5 or six of them. I kneeled down to get one in the scope hoping it could gather more light but nope, only managed to see a tail before I lost all the light. Still, snuck away with a smile since just earlier I didn't think mother nature would share her bounty with me. Went back out again today, perfect temp, a bit breezy but not bad. I usually stay in my stand till noon before I break for a bite, today I had decided I was going down at 11, but just as I was getting ready I glimpsed a doe going down the hill into an area I could not see into. I decided to use a bleat to see if she would reappeared, took about 5 or 10 minutes till two reappeared. I put the scope on the closest one but she had her vitals behind a tree so I used the extra time to slow my breathing and waited for her to present me a shot. Seemed like forever but she finally gave me a quartering shot. I dropped her with what turned out to be a lung shot, cocked for a followup (reflex, never used one) and seen the second had gone 10 yards and stopped with the opposite quartering shot so I dropped her too with a heart shot. Both were DRT though the second flinched a couple times. I guess mother nature is generous after all. [emoji7]

  41.   ??? Where you get that from TICS? Meaning, there is no limit for number of guns on a 4473. Why would TICS limit it to 3, it's still just a single check regardless of how many guns. And there's only place for a single approval on a 4473.   No saying it ain't so, and I've never bought but two at a time, but I've just never heard this before? Seems to me that TICS would have to be compliant to all terms called for by the 4473 itself?   - OS

I have tried gar, octupus, eel and many more. I actually like to try new foods that may have grossed me out as a kid.

  43. It’s never been disputed that there was a fight and at least one round was fired in the car. I’m sure Wilson was scared to death. I don’t care if Brown was trying to surrender somewhere between round 3 to 5; he was an immediate threat and he was killed. The race issue was BS. However, I was amazed to hear Wilson gave a TV interview. That was ignorance beyond belief. Obama and Holder are still after him. I can’t believe any reputable attorney told him a TV interview would be okay.
