sorry forgot to post the pics. i finished the tanning and it came out better than i had expected for my first attempt. sewed it up and made a new winter hat. may still do some more changes but i'm pleased with it fo now. crappy cell pics .

you can cerakote a revolver; wife has a hot pink one.   Its fine, and relatively inexpensive, and usually can find someone in driving distance to do it if not a DYI person.   It looks sharp if its done right, and it gets rid of the rust problem.    Given the price of that gun,  and its general value, it may not be worth it but if you do it and then treat it with some respect it will be good for a lifetime going forward.  Or you can keep it maintained .. oiled and wiped and as someone said waxed, or you can use blue-touch-up pen/kit,  or whatever ... lots of ways to maintain it ... that works too.   Either choice works.

I've posted this elsewhere, but I don't trust Trump.  I sure hope I am wrong about his true intentions, but I don't think so.  You would think if he was serious about running as a republican he would not alienate 3/4 of the voters by insulting Women, Hispanics and Veterans.  The Republican party has had weak support from two of those three groups in the past.  If he happen to get the Republican nomination, he will lose, if the Republican's pick a strong nominee, he'll run third party to make them lose.  Either way its a sure win for Hillary.

Honestly? Leave it alone, its not all that bad. If you want to do some corrosion control put a car paste wax on it and call it a day. I'm all for refinishing a gun when its really necessary but tend to believe a cerntan level of blue wear only defines character.

San Fran is on my personal list, for all the reasons you mention, plus I want to sit out on a boat in McCovey Cove, listen to a Giants game on the radio, and hope to see some home run balls come into the water. I'd also take in a game inside the stadium, as they have a great beer selection from what I hear.

Gosh!!!  A lot of great opinions for sure. As I listen to Trump answer that first question it sounded like he is trying to blackmail all of the republican and conservative voters when he said he will not rule out a third party candidate run. I don't think he wold run a third party because he saw what happened when Ross Perot did it and it cost the party the election. I do look for him to run a full run right up to the point of no return and then drop out and throw his support behind a candidate.At least that is what i hope he does and is not really stupid enough to make a 3rd party run knowing he can't win.   I'm not a Trump guy but would vote for him if he got the nomination. I would like to see more out of Rubio, Carson and Cruz and maybe a little more from Huckabee which surprised me a little from his previous debates and had a more stern sound to his replies than in the past...........jmho

Yep. The copper can tint the water but that mostly looks like mud and silt being washed down stream. Now if that'd been an accidental realease caused by a mine worker a rather large fine and subsiquent clean up would be required. Guys I am not going to mess around here, so listen up:   -- There exists NO retail operation that hasn't let someone down, pissed someone off, or otherwise dissatisfied at least one customer.   -- The Internet makes it entirely possible for one unhappy person to malign a business to financially damaging degrees, just because they have an axe to grind.   -- The retail public these days (you and ME) can be some of the most ungrateful, demanding, whiney-assed babies any of us have ever seen.  What seems like no big deal to 9/10 people may be the end of the damn world for that 10th guy and then he starts grinding that axe (See point 2 above).       When it comes to complaining about not being recognized with a smile, or thinking a gun was priced too high, or ammo was too scarce, or someone didn't stroke your fur the right way, really that is all SUBJECTIVE to the person doing the griping.  But for some reason, misery loves company on the Internet and people are all too happy to jump into the dog-pile and ruin the reputation of a business and hurt the finances of the PEOPLE working at, reliant upon, and owning those businesses.   I'm really just sick of it.   And more importantly, when it comes to a paying vendor who SPONSORS this site, I just am not going to allow it.   If you have a legitimate beef with a sponsor of TGO, take it up with them privately.  If you think a sponsor poses a significant risk to the physical or financial well-being of the TGO members at large, present your case to ME PRIVATELY and I will consider it and take action if it is warranted.   But if you're just sour that someone had an item you wanted, at a price you weren't willing to pay... put on your big boy pants and realize that life isn't fair and a business can charge whatever they want.  It's capitalism, baby!  It's what makes America awesome.         Jeez frickin Louise!!!   Can't even have a nice thread congratulating two of our local shops on becoming an even bigger operation to serve the local shooters.  We've gotta sit around and figure out how we can eat our own.   :rant:

Well if it's a Model 38 then we're talking about an aluminum alloy frame aren't we? If that's the case than the re-bluing option also means finding someone to reanodize the frame. So if its as rough as you say cerakote might not be to bad of an ideal. But before you do anything have the frame checked for cracks and remember no +p rounds. Now if I'm wrong and its a steel frame than a good hot blued finish done by a master buffer is a thing of beauty.

Beach wise, we've been to Hilton Head several times and like it there. It's pretty quiet and comparatively inexpensive. This year we're going to St. George Island FL with my in-laws. We went there a number of years ago and liked it. I'd also really like to travel out west. Fly into Denver, rent a car, and see how much we can see in a week. My wife really wants to go to Hawaii... But that's just not in the budget.

That's a really good price, I bought a 6920 upper a couple yrs ago for $650 I might know a place where you can pick up a few more...

I use a g&g Bootlock holster from optic planet fits perfectly and laces to your boot.

I would personally do the Desantis before the sticky holster...but thats just me. I need something with a hook on it and the sticky holster relies on friction to stay in place so it can move around if you pull a gun out of your pocket. Just my 2 cents anyway...

I probably wouldn't have really cut it off......   The issue with wrapping index finger around the trigger guard is that MOST people who do that , whether they recognize it or not, actually tend to pull the muzzle down with that pressure they are applying to the trigger guard and the way they grip the gun is not the same every time. Consistency in results requires consistency in application and if the grip is not the same the gun moves around. If the gun moves around then the results are....Suboptimal.   Once you "cut out" that bad habit I think you will be happy with the results.

You know I feel the same way on one hand but on the other hand the arrogance of that guy and others on the matter just pisses me off. I can't say I am in the situation or have the resources to be the test case but I dang sure hope someone has the balls to tell them to go fly a kite.   Frankly I think we all have cause to be "offended" by it.
