OK... my first TGO secret Santa and I'm feeling very humbled...read on to find out why. 1- My SS took the time to research who I am on TGO.... even going as far as to pull up a post I made about "Illegal Christmas Gifts for Guys." He used my own post "against" me... :D Exhibit 1 Then, he included an official stocking loaded with goodies as per the rules  Exhibit 2 My "open last" box still pulls at my heartstrings... My SS included the personal note pictured below... Exhibit 3 Under the note was.... Exhibit 4 But the best was yet to come... my SS has gone to the trouble to customize the bible.... Exhibit 5 How cool is that... :usa: I will not post the name of my SS, but I will ask for anybody / everybody to join me in a prayer for his surgery and recovery. TGO..and my SS .... ROCK! :rock:9 points

We are all now dumber for having read that article. The data used to quantify happiness or misery isn't valid. Using commute times implies that a long commute makes someone automatically unhappy, which isn't necessarily true, or high number of unmarried or low number of homeowners. It's bad data used to write a bad article.7 points

A liberal friend (wait, I don’t have any liberal friends) acquaintance asked me after the Paris shooting what I thought he needed to defend his home. He has College Degrees I might add! I suggested as minimum: I advised a 9mm, a couple clips, and a box of shells. A few days later, he sent me this picture and asked how to make it work. any questions?????4 points

My father gave this to me yesterday. Being the ever active tinkerer he is, he decided to put new handles on this one he found with broken handles. It isn't original by any means, but I thought it turned out quite well.4 points

The large blade has "Stainless Steel" stamped at the base. No other markings. I don't figure it to be rare unless it was just dumb luck. My dad probably picked it up at an antique store or yard sale a few years back. It's not something he has had for a loooong time. Still, it's from him and it's "Winchester" so I think it's pretty cool.3 points

My secret Santa went way above and beyond also. This is a fantastic gift and i'm amazed by the craftsmanship in these knives. I've drooled over them on the TGO for a long time. I'm very happy to say i now own one. Thanks again Santa--I hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!3 points

When I was younger, say 20+ years ago, I modified everything. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATV, jetskis, guns, myself (weight, working out, hair styles), and etc, but I never modified women, always kept them they way they came (they usually modified themselves). Anyway where was I, experience has taught me.......................just keep it simple and the way it left the factory. Reliability means more than window dressing and some performance enhancement gadgets. Trust me, it may sound cool, may even be cool, but aftermarket items, and DIY tricks, increase the risk of failure and malfunction. Trust me, I use to hold hands with Murphy a lot, but I noticed Murphy showed up a lot more when I tinkered with something vs. when I left good stuff alone.3 points

i use the dillon ss-600 super swager. many mango seasons ago i did the reaming by hand. i trim my 5.56 brass using the possum hollow case trimmer. i would use what you like the best. the reason i changed was my hands gave out and the super swager is easy on the old body.2 points

Guilty! If monkeylizard was too close, I would have turned on the 'back up' lights... they tend to work very well if someone is tailgating me! There is a slew of us TGOers in Bellevue.2 points

I'm about halfway, too. 5" 40 Pro 40 Fullsize (and 9mm barrel for caliber swap 40 Compact 2 Shield 9mms M&P10 I don't think I'm going to bother with the M&P 5.56 and .22 rifles, as I already have stuff to fit those roles. I also don't care about a .380, but would love an R8! I just got a Smith 638... dunno if I wanna spend double the money on a 340, but they're cool!2 points

Mail truck came today with my Secret Santa gift. Folks this is bad a** to the bone! It's now in my hunting pack where it will remain for the rest of deer season, then it will end up in my survival pack for my canoe and/or 4 wheeler. Thank you Secret Santa! You know it's funny that you bring that up. I was thinking the other day about all of the liberal acquaintances that I have and how every one keeps a gun in their house. Of course most would never dream that it might be a good idea to carry a gun when away from the home. Most all of these people are way under trained and honestly don't have any business handling a gun. I guess it was just nice to know that deep down inside a lot of those pinheads do support owning firearms. I just hope that is in some small way a win.2 points

Well If you take a closer look at the Ruger SR9/40/45 platforms alongside their Glock counterparts you'll understand why they have somewhat of a Glock feel to them. While not a total clone they are close enough to be first cousins. Grip angle and dimensions give the Ruger's an agreeable feel. Additionally for all the ballyhooing of M&P superiority over the Glock platform...follow the same line of though I just mentioned above. In the end most folks who become the biggest fan boy's for a particular striker fired pistol are doing so because that particular grip angle feels better to them. Some though are all about the brand name. Me? I retain the right to change my mind.2 points

They started last year with the Stainless back side and G10 body, they are fantastic knives This is the very first Custom Titanium model though, They are also making a Aluminum handle model that is much more affordable that I will be doing a 2017 TGO model2 points

It was nice to meet you and your better half this afternoon. Sorry I could not spend as much time chatting as I'd have liked, but as you saw firsthand the place was total chaos. You got a couple of real nice bottles, and being a vodka guy you will love the Deep Eddy. And that 10 year old Rip is pretty good stuff too. I hope you come back by sometime! And I don't know what got into the boss this afternoon. About 5pm he busted out all the BTAC we have been holding. We sold it all tonight. Made a lot of people very happy. I did not know we even had it but there was a bottle of Eagle Rare 17 that I sold at about 8 pm tonight. We even put a bottle of Rip on the shelf just for kicks and giggles. It did not last 5 minutes, and the nice lady bought a George Stagg too. Added up to a nice sale. I think some of the best we had was Sazerac Rye and Thomas Handy Rye. When did rye whisky get so desirable? I was able to taste the Sazerac one of our guys bought, it was really nice, loaded with vanilla on the front end and a nice oaky finish. But I have to admit it does not stand up to Whistle Pig. I almost pulled the trigger on a Handy but opted to leave it for the customers. If I would of had a way to post it here I have given all of you a heads up about it. NO chance to use a computer. It was the busiest day of the year. Whenever any TGOer can stop by be sure to ask for me.2 points

My wife and I stopped by Bob's Package Store today and met Mike357. Super guy...glad we finally got to meet. He sold us some Vodka and Bourbon. The Bourbon that we purchased was Rip Van Winkle...can't wait to try it out over the holidays. Thanks Mike!!! B2 points

Unless you have a sportsman license or are hunting under the land owner exemption you most definitely need a type 94 permit to kill does in unit L for the rest of the season.1 point

What's the story? Comms post: Glad to see someone else enjoying 10mm. Get a Gen 4 20 and dont look back. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
The Glock failure photo was in regards to Comms response to SWJewellTN suggesting he get a Gen. 4 Glock 20 . I would say it's safe to say that Comms may be the Number one 10mm Resident Fanboy around this forum. The photo I posted was a random Glock 20 catastrophic failure aka Glock Kaboom or KB of which there are no shortages of Glock KB's on the interwebs. Glock had some major issues early on between the NY trigger saga and catastrophic failures. Glock has done quite well considering all the negative PR they endured early on. Check here for more on Glock KB's http://www.thegunzone.com/glock/glock-kb-faq.html I'm not a die hard Glock hater, more like I drank the koolade and it didn't take or maybe left a bad taste. I prefer my hand guns to be made with metal and wood. I do own a couple of polymer frame handguns and may own more in the future but chances are slim that they will be a Glock. Like I said under the photo on the original post, "I ain't bashing just having FUN". Another one of my failed attempts at a little humor I guess.1 point

Well, I did not have anything else planned today other than a little range time, (a lot of other things I SHOULD be doing), just printed my coupon and finished my second cup of coffee. I'll be there and hopefully score some primers and brass.1 point

mhl6493, my SR45 is the best .45 I've ever owned. It is 1911 slim, with a double stack mag, carries as well as a 1911, and shoots accurately and softly. I have had zero issues with it. If a 1911 feels "right" to you, this is as close as you're going to get in a poly frame .45.1 point

I actually think we are in an auto bubble at the moment...lenders have made it pretty easy to get cars therefore people are paying stupid prices for them and getting stuff they can't afford with huge interest rates. My 2015 Dodge Ram 4x4 "which is loaded from top to bottom" listed at like $51,000...didn't pay that obviously and I had a huge down payment with my 2010 I traded in, but the prices are certainly higher than what I remember from even 5 years ago when I bought that one. I bought a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4x4 for $15,000 with 14,000 miles on it before my 2010 if that puts it in to perspective...it has gotten a little ridiculous imo.1 point

As seen here: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001T7QJ9O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 I know that these earmuffs are a very common piece of kit, and a more than a few of you will either have a pair, or know someone who does. So, why the review? Simple, I've had my pair for over five years, and they've held up fantastically, despite me being an idiot recently. Now, while I do rotate them with a Peltor 6s pair, my Howard Leight's have seen more than the expected use I thought I'd get out of them when I bought a pair in early 2010. I bought them for use while traveling between Iraq & Kuwait, brought them back home and have used them at the range countless times, and even loaned them to others for shooting, but their toughness was recently shown to me. I would have taken them to Afghanistan as well, but forgot to set them aside when movers packed up my apartment, so I had to get the Peltors to take there. But back to the Howard Leight's. I like to wear them with my earbuds on underneath while I mow the lawn. Well, a few weeks ago, I left them outside after forgetting them when putting my mower back in the storage closet outside of my house. Literally left them outside for a week an a half, and those of you in Middle Tennessee know we've seen plenty of rain and temperature changes. When I saw them out there, I thought for sure the electronic features of them were gone, and at best they were just another normal pair...I was wrong. They fired right up, and the noise reduction feature works just fine like before. These things can handle my whoops moment and still keep going. So, while I still use my Peltors as my primary range kit, my Howard Leight's have more than earned a place in my kit bag, and I wanted to share this in case anyone was wondering if they are worth the price. Your results may vary, but I'd give them the BTQ thumbs up.1 point

Mine finally made it to me today with a special surprise inside. It's found a home on my plate carrier, and will be bleeding hogs in the spring. I can't thank Willis and the guys at Protech enough. I'm about to be their best salesman. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

3, 5 and 7 yards. 21 feet is the longest. I don't remember shot break down but it was 50 rounds total. It was very easy to pass, I dropped one shot and got a 99 if I remeber right. You need to register online first, then take that number to the class and they file your certificate electronically. I took the class on a Saturday and had the permit in hand the next monday. ;) But seriously, I dunno in good conscience if I could give her that special consideration myself -- hell sounds like she's spooky enough she might have pointed the damn thing at me if I'd just walked by her. And if I happened to have sneezed while doing it maybe she'd have blown my goober off or something. - OS1 point

I find it difficult to find any sympathy as well. I do hate to see another iconic American name bought up by foreign investors but Colt is just that, a name. Their relevance passed many years ago.1 point
