Personally I think TGO has beat this into the ground. I'm also pretty sure that were I him, I wouldn't necessarily want my info out there on the Internet. I'm not e-famous the way he is, but it's been done to me because of TGO and it really pissed me off. Not that the information about either of us isn't readily accessible to the people who want to dig, but when people on TGO, blogs, Facebook and other social outlets just beat the issue to death, it does nothing BUT draw more attention to it. You guys might as well light up a spotlight and swing it on his house at this point, because that's effectively what all of these threads are doing.11 points

I bought a 40 because of advice I was given in 2004 to carry what the cops carry, because of the case of Harold Fish (Google it if you don't know). Since then I have had many friends give me MANY MANY rounds of 40 ammo. Because I have free ammo, I have several .40s. I have Glock 22, 23, 27. Sig p229 and its little brother p224. I enjoy shooting them all. My Sig 229 was originally a .357 sig, but I went to a gun show to get a barrel for .40 and ended up trading for a new Sig 229 Elite 40 for less than the cost of the .40 barrel. 357 sig just costs too much for me to shoot proficiently. I really feel it is a better round, but being prepared and well trained is more important than having the best round. I have no issue with the round or the weapons I fire it from. I kind of chuckle when people call it a trade off, since ALL weapons and ALL rounds are a trade off. I also chuckle when people say that the new technology 9 mm is better than old .40. Guess what? When they improved the 9, they improved the 40. I know that all of the defensive calibers of handgun ammo perform so similarly that which I choose is functionally meaningless. Since I have so much 40 and so many 40 weapons, I will not be changing any time soon, if ever. and feel no need to do so. These are my opinions and are not intended to incite ANY debate. Just telling why I do what I do on a forum intended to do so.3 points

There's also Topless in Tennessee based out of Dickson that seems to be doing things right. I'll add them to the Mule Town Jeepers that Glowdot recommended earlier. The group that torpedoed Tennessee Jeeps is Jeeps and Wrenches. I'm sure it has grown beyond the core group that started it now and some of their members are fine folks, but that core group was some of the nastiest, most spiteful, back-stabbing bunch of people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. They ruined my enjoyment of the "sport" are one of the reasons why I no longer have Jeep of any kind. I sank a lot of time and money into the local Jeep community and for a while there we were doing some really big, well organized things, and then that group got greedy, selfish and ruined the whole thing. There's a few of their founding members that I'd seriously punch in the face if I saw again anytime soon because I firmly believe that people shouldn't be afforded free-range to be nasty and hateful the way they were.3 points

NRA's Wayne LaPierre to respond to President Obama on Wednesday, Jan 13th. That's the next day after the State of the Union. Again I will say that being proficient with whatever platform and round you choose (assuming we are talking about typical defensive rounds (9mm, 40,.357 sig, 45 ACP, .38 special, .357 Magnum) is more important than WHICH of those rounds you choose,2 points

Prices will not keep me away. There are several things to consider besides just the price per hour. I live about 8 minutes from here. If I want to shoot outside for free or at a cheap range I am at a minimum 45mins to an hour away. Each way. I would much rather pay for a short shooting session rather than take 2.5-3 hrs when i have other things to do. I will probably also use the rifle range to sight in my rifles when I need to. The convenience for me is worth the money. Plus it is a lot easier to get my wife to go to a range to shoot verse going out in the woods. :2cents:2 points

Sam, be aware that you will need different adapters for a fixed barrel gun (like the mp5) and a tilt barrel gun (like most semi-auto handguns). Many suppressor a only come with a recoil booster adapter (for tilt barrel guns). You would have to buy an adapter for the fixed barrel gun. See this blog entry that explains adapters: http://blog.silencershop.com/mounting-pistolcaliber-suppressors/ I agree with the above that buying online doesn't save that much money and may take a slight bit longer. If a local shop has the model you want in stock for a similar price, probably a good idea to buy it local.1 point

I love the .357 Sig round, but I gave it up when I got tired of spending more $$ every time I went to the range. I personally believe(my opinion) that the .357 sig offers the best advantages of all the defensive rounds, but I personally feel that the increased training time that I get from shooting 40 will benefit me more than shooting the better round, less frequently. My favorite platform for the .357 Sig is the Sig 229 Elite with the SRT trigger. It is also coincidentally my favorite platform for 40 and 9mm. I love that weapon. I just got the Sig Extreme p224 in 40. I love that little guy, too.1 point

I don’t think any changes to the forum would help much. The people that are pushing the envelope know who they are and have decided to take that risk. This isn’t something new; it’s been going on for a long time. The BATF appear to be a patient bunch. I’m sure if they target someone they will have printed copies of all the sales hey have tracked and would probably even make buys themselves. Most of the time (that I have seen) when they get involved in busting someone for selling; an incident or complaint started that ball rolling. It’s not right that people choose to break the law, but it’s also not right that we don’t know what the law is. I suspect you will see a number put on it. With technology moving as fast as it is I also except to see a time when you can get on-line and submit a background check yourself. Maybe not to get information on a person, but to get an “approved” or “rejected” for a gun purchase. The main problem I see with this is the Feds (or the state) getting access to medical information. Will someone that is seeing a shrink or someone that is prescribed depression meds lose their gun rights? That means many people that need help; won’t get it.1 point

Here are a few more thoughts. I didn't really communicate my message well yesterday with my first post on this thread yesterday. I really meant to say that I feel sure that Runco got the idea after a couple of folks said that he shouldn't have posted Hickock45s name and that further agreement wasn't needed. I'm guessing that we are all correct to various degrees. I get the feel that the success of the videos, having the ability to profit from the and becoming a public figure is a new experience for him. I'm about two years in with my business and the way I position us in the marketplace has changed and evolved a lot. As with anything a person hasn't experienced before, there are mistakes, changes in direction, etc.... As the videos have grown, he's become somewhat famous. Think about Hollywood and Nashville's country music. Many, many folks want to hit the big time. A few do who then come to live in a fish bowl where anything they do is exposed to the public. They don't like it, though it comes with the territory. So, here is where I am now. I won't use his name because he would rather that folks don't. I'm happy for him that his videos have done well. I will be the first to say that there is nothing bad whatever about him making profit from the videos. I'm also happy for him to have this new adventure, which can probably be fun, exciting, invigorating, confusing, frustrating, etc.... all at the same time.1 point

If someone sold it here, they obviously placed an ad in the "firearms classified" for sale. I'd bet a dollar to a dog turd the NSA has a record of those ads and all others on the Internet, feedback records or no.1 point

Louisville is next weekend. It is usually a good show. Not a great day trip, but if you don't mind staying a night, you can make two days out of it pretty easy.1 point
-
Exactly. Hickok does not advertise his name so there really is no reason for anyone else to, regardless of whether it's out there or not.1 point
-
I think the idea here is that Hickok45 himself does not spread his name. You list two sites which divulge his identity. Great. But those aren't Hickok's site. HE isn't going around telling everyone who he really is where he lives, and when is the best time to stop by for a chat. Can you probably look around and find the info? Absolutely. Is Hickok the one providing it? No.1 point

In general, I agree with you. But so many people now seem to believe these "celebrities" have some better knowledge of the world and what's happening in it. Or maybe they just can't think for themselves(most likely option) and want their idols to make choices for them. It's like Parrohead said, being famous seems to grant genius status to some actors and singers who couldn't function in the real world.1 point

Not my forum, but there's a difference between offering an open exchange for lawful transactions and possibly abetting felonies by removing data, just sayin... Now that is admittedly almost certainly an overblown statement in reality, but the real point is that nothing has changed since Hussein made his comments about the legality of selling firearms, either federally or in the state of TN. What was legal and illegal before is still the same now. Besides, there's also the WayBack Machine and whatever other public archives too ya know .. so it's not like all this sort of stuff actually gets totally nuked anyway, can always look back to various dates if anyone really wants to research. Not to mention whatever the hell the NSA archives and whatever. Wouldn't surprise me if essentially the entire freaking internet weren't crawled and stored every day from that data center in Utah. - OS1 point

It took me 4 hours of trying to get online with the atf to finally be able to file another form 1. After the morning rush I got on and it only took 10 minutes or so to file. Now the hard part, waiting. Thankfully I already have an SBR and some suppressors to keep me warm at night. major Kong, I asked that same thing to the ATF when I did my first SBR, he told me to send a letter into the atf with whatever configuration it maybe, that way you can change out uppers and be legal. So, when I filed for my 300blk, I sent in a letter at the same time about the 223 upper. Now I'm just making an sbr for the 223.1 point

Go and handle a Shield and a Glock 43 at a gun shop. I have both . Both work great for me . For me the Glock 43 is smaller and more thinner since it doesnt have the take-down lever sticking outwards. I pick the Glock 43 . You can't go wrong with either. I will add this : Take a Shield or a Glock 43 . put each of them in an IWB holster and you wont even know they are there. I carry each of mine in an Alien Gear IWB holster and I have to check just to make sure they are they. They are each great guns . Mine eat factory ammo and my own reloads like candy .1 point

   Gotcha! Flashbacks from this same weekend in late 2012 early 2013. This was right after Sandyhook and in the middle of the day on a Friday, it was another 3 day weekend gunshow. How long would a constitutional challenge take, days, weeks, months.............years? My crystal ball or tin foil hat says on the 3 year anniversary of Sandy Hook, Dec. 14th, which is this Monday, he will roll out a EO. He will use the San Bernardino attack as evidence that if laws were in place this would not have happened. Which is a joke. Reminder its 406 days to go, and lot of BS can be made in the next 406 days.1 point
