He then got really aggressive. I remembered this thread and simply ignored him. Life is too short to get worked up over someone's driving.

So here is some pictures of my idea of Glock perfection. My 21 , 17 , and 30 . Going to do some annual cleaning and calm my nerves LOL . That G21 is a beast and I love it. No finger grooves and just a sweet shooter. Glock at it's best. My G17 is the 2-pin early model. So simple and not at all complicated. People say they are ugly but their reliable function makes them look better than most others. Ballistol and Mobil One is in the air

  7. Hey gang... Seeing as how some of you really "love" change (haha) I thought that it might be a good idea to go ahead and start talking about some upcoming improvements and changes to TGO that will occur this month. There are some things coming down the pipe that I think the majority of you will really enjoy, and there are some things coming that may be a bit of an adjustment to some of you as well. Rather than write a really long preamble about all of this, let me just dive into the specifics. New: Image Gallery I have purchased the license to use the Invision Power Image Gallery system. Because Amazon's S3 storage is so cheap, I am finally able to offer you all the ability to host photos of your gun collections for everyone to enjoy, right here on TGO. In actuality, the Image Gallery also has the ability to host videos, but that is a feature I will have to give some thought to enabling as we move ahead. For the time being we will just allow photos. New: Articles and Reviews I have also purchased the license to use the Invision Power Pages system which allows us to host articles and reviews written by TGO Members and TGO Staff, in a nicely formatted, easily searched library of material. Basically it will allow me and the Staff to chose posts that you are already writing or have written, and promote them to either an Article or a Review depending on the content. One of things that has made TGO so successful over the years is the amount of knowledge amassed within it because of you. This just allows us to organize it a little better for everyone's benefit. Uncertain Future: Real-time Chat As I had mentioned previously, Invision Power is discontinuing their real-time Chat feature that some of you enjoy using here on TGO. I honestly don't understand why they are doing this beyond the explanation that they have offered on their support forum. Namely, that it is not a popular product within their portfolio and maintaining it draws away resources that they want to focus on other things. Bummer. I will be continuing to look for a replacement for the Chat feature. So far, the prospective replacements have not been very good or very exciting, but I have not given up. The current Chat system will expire at the end of April, 2017. New: Improved Classified Ads This is a big one and honestly is the one that I am most excited about. One of the things that has kept me from adopting a more feature rich Classified Ads approach on TGO has been the popularity of the Tapatalk mobile phone application. In a nutshell, Tapatalk doesn't show you the whole "TGO Experience" and only shows you the basic things (threads, posts, private messages) and only in the Tapatalk format. If it doesn't fit inside their carton, it doesn't get displayed on their app. Also a bummer. I have purchased a new Classifieds add-on for our forum software that not only provides you with an experience similar to Gunbroker or any other number of sites that allow easy upload of product photos, but it also creates a new thread inside the forums any time that you post an ad, so that folks using Tapatalk can participate as well. Some of the features this thing has are: Central area for you to view all of your ads, including expired ads, and manage them. People can make offers (bids) on an advertisement if you have set the ad to allow it. Ads are integrated into the IPBoard activity streams and show up as new material. Ads are searchable within IPBoard like any other content. Ads can include Google Maps if an address is provided by the person posting the ad. Ads can be added to a "Wish List" by members. Ads can contain photos, easily uploaded to the ad from within the system. Ads can be marked to allow questions and answers. We will also have a special section of Ads just for our TGO Vendors to showcase items for sale! I will be making the new Classifieds system available to you as quickly as possible. I have already begun setting it up and hope to have it ready for use within the next week or two. Uncertain Future: Mutiple "Themes" for Viewing TGO I had to save the bad news for last, I guess. Maintaining multiple "themes" for viewing TGO is a real pain and takes a lot of time. Whenever a new version of the forum software is released, I can end up spending hours to make the various themes work with the new version, and unfortunately my free time for this sort of thing is going to be extremely limited in 2017 as I focus on going back to college for another advanced degree. My free time for a lot of stuff is going to be limited because of that. I know that some of you really prefer the Dark theme and find it to be easier on your eyes, but I am honestly not sure for how much longer I can keep that available to you. If I find an easier way to provide a darker version of our main visual theme, I will gladly jump on it, but at the moment I just cannot make any promises. Hopefully those of you who prefer the darker theme will be able to just bump down the brightness on your computer or mobile devices, and stick with us. Well, that's the long and short of it all. Feel free to ask questions or discuss. I'll be glad to offer whatever additional information that I can.

I like to take off for a day or three from time to time. After all, I'm supposed to be retired. Still waiting for FFL.

  14. Technically you don't fly a drone, it flies itself. A quadrotor on the other hand, can be fairly enjoyable to fly. I'd suggest you start out with one of the indoor only versions to get the hang of it. Dual rotor helicopters have the same controls as well. If you get an outdoor one, you have to register with the FAA, which isn't a big deal.

  18. Well done. Thank for sharing! I've done some academy training. I know it's not Military, but I can still relate. Some of our DI's were former military, so I got a little experience. The training is fun when you're in shape. I just feel bad for folks who go in after sitting on the couch for years drinking sodas, and eating pizza and ice cream all day. They're the ones puking their guts up after a little PT in the heat. lol

  23. Mechanically, wheel guns are all ways more prone to velocity variance due to the nature of the beast. The most prevalent reason is the barrel cylinder gap. If you have a good set of feeler gauges, measure the gap at each cylinder mouth with the hammer at rest. Even the smallest difference will give you what you have. you should see .005 +/- .001 for a good gap. Once you find the gauge with a slight resistance, hopefully that same resistance will be found on each cylinder mouth. The loser will be your low vels. Cylinder concentricity with the barrel bore is the second item that can effect vels by a tad also aside from being the cause of flyers as most all ready know. One other area that gets overlooked is the forcing cone that makes up for non true to the bore cylinders. You would be surprised to know how many wheel guns have out of center bore cones and are within factory specs. Just the slightest out of center cone will try to force rifling into only one side of the bullet way before rifling is available on the opposite side of the cone. This to is a pressure consideration. Those 3 things are the foundation of performance center built wheel guns.

  24. The Sears in Kingsport Tn and Bristol Va are closing and that leaves very little left in the malls. Kingsport has a man with sign that says UP TO 30 % off. Starting in late Nov.I needed to replace a 9/16" ratchet wrench that wouldn't ratchet .they still hadn't restocked any wrenches or sockets after Christmas I thought they were going under.

  26. Eight to eight and a half grains of Unique and anybodies hard cast bullet 250 grains and over will shoot just fine... These guys are a bit more expensive, but their bullets are great... They are good and soft, so they will upset in the barrel... Very accurate shooters ... http://rimrockbullets.net/index.php If ya really want ta have some "authentic" loads... Load these bullets with black powder, but read up on the loading procedures first... We used the rimrock bullets with the black powder loads... They are great... Big "kaboom" and plenty of billowing white smoke... Real old time stuff here... leroy Black powder is fun. But cleaning is a lot tougher.

  28. We have one guy at work that has a personal one and he has one for our survey crew. They use your iPad, iPhone, or android phone as part of the controller. Seems really fun. They use the work one to do aerial shots of job sites and to get building pictures where you can't do it by hand. theose are much better than the $20 one my son has. It is fun, but has a very short battery and is not as stable. Some of the nicer ones have a return to home feature, a follow me feature, and a hover unattended feature.

  33. Maverick 88 shotgun in 12 gauge. Identical to a Mossberg 500 except the safety is on the trigger guard, a better place, and it is only $200 new. Shotguns are pretty versatile because of the different types of ammunition that can be found EVERYWHERE. They are also easy to maintain and use. If I wanted to stand up a group of people that is what I would buy them. It is also less likely to be outlawed by any type of gun grab legislation. Shotguns are pretty low powered cartridges so you could easily load them using black powder.

  34. Absolutely. That would be a big improvement to our situation because it is not just private businesses that can put you in a pickle. You can also come across these 'posted' properties when visiting local and state government owned buildings. People can say just conceal and not worry about it but honestly what is the difference between that and how folks used to just carry without permits? You used to just hope you didn't come to the attention of the one oddball police officer that would make a big deal out of you illegally carrying. Most police did not care as long as you weren't causing trouble and then it was an add on. But as a pro gun group we should be pushing to be legal when carrying in as many places as possible and one way to do it is remove the weapons charge from the signs. We know that the legislature does not want concealed carry without a permit so at least we should try to get more for our money out of these permits. The whole "Am I legal at XYZ location" question comes up all the time so why not fix that? We just had folks question their legality in carrying at the Chattanooga Aquarium. Fix the problem and then folks don't have to worry.

  35. Yeah, they can bite you. My middle finger on my right hand is crooked - bent a little to the right at the second joint - because my pocket knife closed on it when I was cutting open a present my dad got me for my 18th birthday (I am 45 now.) I kept my knives literally razor sharp (still try to, mostly, but had more time to keep them that way back then) and the knife had a fairly long blade. I don't think a person is supposed to be able to see the bones in his knuckle but I did that day. I'm not quite sure how it didn't cut my pointer finger, too, but it didn't. I guess I sliced the tendon or ligaments or something on one side a little so that they were weaker than the other side but all they did at the walk in clinic was sew it up and send me home. At least it doesn't pull sideways so much that I periodically have to pop it back into place anymore. That was when I really started becoming a fan of lockblades and fixed blades although I never really completely quit slipjoints. I also like being able to open and close a knife with one hand which is something I really came to appreciate when I was doing more fishing than I am right now. If a fish I want to release swallows the hook and I need to cut the line in order to avoid injuring or killing it then it is a whole lot easier to use a one-hand opener while holding the fish in the other hand. Having a pocket clip also facilitates quick and easy access in such situations. Another factor, for me, was that my favorite slipjoints were made by Schrade when they were still an American company. For a carry/using knife I liked them even better than Case although the Case Sodbuster and Sodbuster, Jr. were and remain a favorite design. When Taylor Brands first bought the name the knives in the Schrade line were garbage and I quit buying anything from them. They have improved over the last, few years and I have bought a few of their fixed blades but still haven't gone for a slipjoint, yet. I guess the last, big factor, for me, is that the majority of fixed blades [edit: meant to say 'slipjoints' not 'fixed blades' - stupid typing fingers] that actually seem worth a crap any more are more expensive than the 'budget lines' from Kershaw and others. I don't tend to spend 'big money' on pocket knives (or knives in general, for that matter) because I have lost too danged many pocket knives to want something expensive in my pocket. For the same price as I would pay for a not-that-great slipjoint I can often get a decent Kershaw but they tend to be single blades with thumb studs and liner locks. Decent, economically priced slipjoints are also a little harder to find in local brick and mortar stores. All that said, I am really coming to like the Rough Rider line of very economically priced but pretty good quality folders and those may well get me more interested in slipjoints, again. I have a fairly large, single blade from them with white bone handles called the 'Deerslayer' model. I also bought my two nephews and one of my nieces one each of their knives for Christmas and picked up a Trapper model with glow-in-the-dark handle scales for myself. Some of them have minor fit and finish problems, however. If I could get to Smoky Mountain Knife Works more often so I could 'hand pick' them I would probably own a lot more. I have a Victorinox Swiss Army knife that I keep in my EDC bag as a 'backup' pocket knife but the main blade on it has a liner lock so I don't know that it technically counts as a 'slipjoint'.

  36. I have a few very old ones that belonged to my dad. They are not very collectible to anyone else because he used them everyday to cut off a chew of tobacco, clean his fingernails, shorten a gas line on the old car or boat or even cut a tomato for his sandwich. They are priceless to me however.

  40. Has anybody else had this problem? Just purchased a new Sig P938, I go to shoot it and it consistently shoots to the left. I am by no means the best shot ever, but I can get a good group going. I looked at the sights, and noticed that the front sight is ever so slightly to the left of center, and the rear sight is quite a bit to the left of center. Is this normal? Something that should be sent back to Sig? Or should I just get a brass punch and do it myself?

  42. I purchased my first Egyptian rifle yesterday. It was a very unexpected purchase, my friends. My dealer called me yesterday to inform me that my Childers receiver had arrived. As luck would have it, they took in the Egyptian MAADI (Intrac) in a deal hours prior to my arrival. I inspected the rifle, we came to terms on a price, and the rest was history. In addition to the rifle, I recieved the original 5 round magazine, 30 round East German, 40 round Chinese flatback, operation manual, + final inspection certificate. I have decided to liberate this rifle from its post ban configuration. Therefore, I am in seek of a MAADI brown grip + matching MAADI lacquer wood stock. Please let me know if you have any of the aforementioned pieces for sale or have a lead. Without further ado, I present to you my Egyptian MAADI (Intrac)!

  43. All the ballistics data in this thread show bulk manufactured 10mm is weak and a G29 is no better than a G35 with standard ammo. If you don't reload Underwood is the king of 10mm. If you buy the G21 you can buy 45acp cheaper than 10mm range ammo, add a full chamber barrel to shoot 45 super to be on par with 10mm. Add barrel and comp to shoot hot 45 Super to 460 Rowland which is low 44mag ballistics. Or barrel swap for 40 super for woods and still trump 10mm and have 45 acp for normal use. See old threads on block talk. Nothing wrong with g20, just the 21 is better.

  46. I’m kinda surprised that I see many stories of how you can buy parts or skirt the law on machine guns by people that would wear out Google on any other law. I have friends that know my machining skills; they have asked if I could convert an AR15 to fully automatic. My answer is “yes”. When they ask why I don’t do it my answer is “Prison”. However, I have no desire to own a fully auto weapon; I can turn cash into empty brass fast enough without one. And I sure don’t want the expense of defending myself in court if I win, or going to prison if I lose. I can’t think of anything I need or want that I would pay the government for the privilege to own; the costs are ridiculous. I feel that someday suppressors may be legal to buy without the Feds involvement. If that happens the price will drop to where it should be.
