  1. Ok guys, I think we have enough of a consensus here to predict the way this would go even if 1000 people voted. We'll switch back to the old way of doing this. I will work on it this weekend.

  3. I have been on a tear as of late! I pulled my dream rifle out of layaway in February and I am almost complete with the build. The last piece of the puzzle will be ordered next week. Which is a Knight's Armament Company 762 CQB QDC suppressor in FDE. Knight's Armament Company (KAC) SR-25 EMC - Leupold Optics Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS H27D - BT10-LW17 V8 Atlas Bipod - Magpul ACS-L Stock - Magpul MIAD Gen 1.1 Grip I went to the Outpost Armory last month to purchase a bipod for my rifle and I walked out with a Romanian SAR-3 instead. Last September, I got the itch to purchase a FAL. I scratched that itch by purchasing an Imbel parts kit + Imbel gear logo receiver. I sent my parts in January to Mark to Arizona Response systems to assemble and refinish my rifle. I received my FAL back from Mark at Arizona Response Systems after patiently waiting nearly 6 months. To say that I am pleased is a gross understatement. His work is first rate and worth every penny. Capitol Armory squared me away on a Surefire SOCOM RC2 5.56 suppressor

  12. All too true for me my friend. I tried to play with the big dogs here, but I'm headed back to the porch and trying to recover. Truth be told, I just went overboard when my workman's comp and SSD claims were settled during my fun days of leukemia and lymphatic cancer treatment. Company insurance said they'd overpaid me and I'd have pay a lot back after getting the SSD set up. It turned out that I had been underpaid instead. So I went a little crazy, I guess. Didn't know if I'd be around long, so I tended to do whatever I wanted and the consequences be damned for a time. I guess it was a normal reaction. Anyway, I have really made an effort these last several years to think more longer term than back then.

  15. We had a portable 8 track player that my mom got with S&H green stamps. Yeah, it was that long ago. I used it, some, even into early high school. It was probably, oh, 10 inches to a foot square - best I remember - and was yellow. It had one speaker built in to the front of the player and a 'plunger' made in to the top to change the track (track had to be changed manually.) Mom and dad also bought a huge Curtis Mathis television/all in one entertainment center kind of thing back in the late 70s. It was long, about like a dresser. The television screen was in the middle and was flanked by a speaker on each side. There was a 'lid' that could be raised on either side of where the screen was. Under one 'lid' was a record player and under the other 'lid' was an AM/FM radio tuner and an 8 track player. That 8 track player would change the tracks on its own.

  16. I have always been one to say, if it ain't broke don't fix it and I didn't see much if anything wrong with the old system so I voted to go back. I also am not buying or selling as much as I once was so I can live with it either way so what ever you decide on will be fine with me...............

I took him up and introduced him to Steelharp at Sumner Gun and Supply and he also was glad to meet MacGyver so it was a double hitter for sure. Great guy and enjoyed the visit for sure.......................

  22. The suspects were not great shots, thank god. Of the 81 rounds they fired at police, only 1 hit an officer. He lived. They were not bad shots at the Christmas Party, reason being they were shooting and killing defenseless people. That was alot different when they have incoming hot lead. It kind of makes it a lot harder to hit your target when your dodging hot incoming lead. It does sound like the police officers do need more range time but it also sounds like the bad guys didn't stop shooting after they had been hit if they each we shot 15 times before they went down.

  27. True, but THIS Predators fan has supported the team since the beginning, participated in the "name the team" vote in 1998, attended their first open house event at Bridgestone in the summer of 1998 (then simply the Nashville Arena), and still sports a first generation jersey. I can't believe we FINALLY get to see a banner hanging over our home ice. "Stanley Cup Champions" will look better than "Western Conference Champions", of course, but after almost 19 years since the first puck dropped, I'll take what I can get.

  28. Yes, that would be ironic to see National Championship for a cold weather sport won by a team from a very warm weather area. And at a considerable less cost than the Titans have spent to get only one half the way to a Super Bowl.

As long as you stay with Hi-point mags and keep the them in good shape, it runs like a Singer sewing machine. Stay away from the Pro-Mag 15 rounders though! They are garbage. 32. I see folks paying a LOT for food that has extremely long shelf life. Why? Do you REALLY want to buy this and store it away for half a century? Now don't get me wrong, I have eaten WWII C rations in 1967 in a disaster area, and DARNED glad to get them. But do you WANT to store food for that long? Here is what we do: When we hit a sale on canned goods, we buy extra. In the pantry, we scoot everything forward and store the new ones in the BACK. We constantly USE what is in the front. By buying extra every time you shop, you build up a stock of canned goods. By constantly rotating them, you do NOT NEED those special high-priced decades-long storage items. An additional benefit is you are eating the SAME food every day that you will be eating when the feces encounters the rotating ventilation device. There will be no shock to your system caused by switching from Green Giant canned corn to your MRE's. Pasta, rice, beans - all are stored in air-tight containers and ROTATED so they are constantly being used. The hard part is meat; make sure to stock tuna, chicken, salmon, SPAM, etc., and use it occasionally to keep the stock rotated. Talk to your Morman friends; part of their doctrine is to have a years supply of food on hand, and they can be a valuable resource of advice on how to properly do this.

  33. I was very excited about going forward to a more in depth classifieds system, but since the majority of users are not embracing it then I don't see it as being worth it. Examples: 1) The "make an offer" function seemed neat. Nobody has ever used it, still sending PM's instead 2) Since a classified ad duplicates as a discussion thread, I had people contacting me weeks after I had marked an ad as sold because they were looking at the discussion thread and never realized it was already sold. End result, a seller has to now mark two separate things (the ad and the discussion thread) as sold 3) The image upload function does not correlate to Tapatalk at all. I suspect it is a permissions issue behind the scenes. Personally, I love Tapatalk because it streamlines all of my forums into one sleek app. 4) Since the new forum software has a certain number of required fields, it makes listing groups of items difficult/impossible and for certain items the selections simply do not make sense. I think most everyone around is so used to the way we were doing things that the old way of doing classifieds would be warmly welcomed. Also, seems like it would be less overall work for you:)

  35. I liked the politics section as well, there were some funny things said and not so funny things being said but I did enjoy reading it. The political cartoons were a hoot! I don't care which side of the fence you sit on, there were some informative links scattered in the threads of discussion and there was enough of information to really make a person think.

  36. I have had a few folks ask me about my avatar so I guess I will explain it. That is an actual picture of a female Doberman giving the fireman a kiss because he risked his life to go back into a burning building to rescue her 5 pups that were less than a month old and when he layed them down beside her on a blanket and sat down she came up and thanked him with a kiss and a reporter caught it and shot a picture of it. People said dogs are not to smart but she knew what he did without any doubt in my mind anyway...........

  38. Took my permit class, many years ago, with a Sig 226 in 40. I liked it, but just didn't love it. After the class, I retired the 40 and went to a 9 almost exclusively. Had a G22 for a while, trade it for a 23. Then sold the 23. I just didn't like the 40. Then somehow, I acquired a G24 and found I sort of liked the 40 again. That...and your comments about the PPQ in 40 have me wondering. Maybe someday... a PPQ in 40? Hmmm.

  40. I for one, really miss the politics section. It was usually the first forum I visited, followed by General Chat. I know this is a gun forum, but those are my two favorite forums. I think part of that is, because this is a gun forum, most of us are like-minded and share the same interests. I just like hanging out with a bunch of other guys that for the most part, think like I think, and like what I like. Sure, there were some posts that I didn't like, or agree with, but I have thick skin and realize people have differing opinions, and I can respect that, as long as others can respect my opinions too. I actually like the discourse, as it gives me a peek into the way other people might think, and gives me a different perspective on an issue. It probably won't change my belief, but at least I can get an insight as to why someone might think that way. One of the trends happening now all over America is, if someone doesn't like what you have to say, then they shut you down. In a way this feels a bit like that. That forum was a great place to vent. I am a conservative that lives in a world of liberals. My work is filled with them, my main hobby is filled with them, and my family is all liberal, so I generally just keep quiet around them all. For me, the forum was a good outlet. I really like the idea of a politics section not showing up in the new posts feed, but think making it a paid members only section will limit differing points of view.

  42. Personally I think the Hive should come back. This is America and its going through some turbulent times. We aren't being well represented by the political class and aren't being fed reality by the media. The pulse of the people is how one should judge the state of things. Censorship is merely a tool used by those wishing to control the conversation, for their purpose. Not saying that is going on here but I think we are/were extremely reserved as it is. Reality is a bitter pill at times, no need to sugar coat it. If we have members that are truly offended by our conversations, well, that says a lot about their character to me. If they don't have the self control to stay out of threads they don't want to be a part of, perhaps responsible firearm ownership isn't in their skill set either. Like it or not, firearms and politics are tied together, if we don't keep it alive we are helping to suppress reality. This is my .02 and I certainly don't expect to sway anyone, just wanted to add my opinion. As you were!

  44. Even though the politics section has been eliminated, political threads will continue to pop up whether it be under general discussion or any of the other possibilities. The heart of this forum is firearms and like it or not politics will always be connected to our ownership and use of them. I too get a little frustrated with the rants that go on in these threads and they do veer off on tangents but such is the nature of any group of people gathered and having a conversation. Once politics or religion is mentioned, some people get quite riled and start spewing. I am in favor of keeping a political section but make it a benefactor only option. My other suggestion would be to make sections like members if it is even possible. We have the ignored user option under account settings so we don't see their entries could we do this for an entire forum section?

  45. Though of course firearm specific related topics are the primary reason for its being, the great thing about TGO was also in being a "one stop" to discuss most aspects of life for us Tennesseans, and in a quite civil fashion compared to many other venues. Obviously state/federal politics beyond mere gun law affects all our lives directly, so that was cool too, and that forum kept the majority of that topical matter in one place, so quite easy to avoid if you weren't interested. But que sera sera and all that. - OS

  46. I'm with Garufa. Look around at most people.....If something that catastrophic happens lack of meds and medical care will kill more Americans than lack of food will. Then disease outbreaks and loss of sanitation will take a whole lot more.
