We had someone donate the entire cost of setup today. !!!!4 points

I've wanted to do this for a long time. I don't even know the total cost yet but I know it wasn't cheap (for me anyway). Build list: Daniel Defense MK18 URG SilencerCo ASR flash hider Spikes Crusader lower receiver Surefire M300c Scout light (500 lumen) with Surefire SR07 remote dual switch and UE tailcap Thorntail SBR scout mount Magpul sling adapter Magpul MS3 Gen 2 coyote sling Geiselle SD3G trigger assembly Trijicon MRO 2 moa red dot American Defense QD mount BCM QD end plate Midwest Industries QD sling attachment Sig SBM4 brace Magpul MOE+ grip Midwest Industries buffer tube assembly Spikes Tactical ST-T2 buffer Seekins Precision bolt catch and mag release button Geissele super charging handle Daniel Defense fixed front sight. Not sure if I want to use the fixed rear as of now. Probably go with flip up rear. Unknown manufacturer ambi safety selector All remaining lower parts were from my stash of extra parts. I don't think I left anything out. I'm really excited to get some time on the range with this setup. The length of the MI buffer tube and the SBM4 brace seem like a good fit for me as of now. I plan on getting a stamp for this lower and leave this setup alone once approved.3 points

Look at that Gawd awful rust. I'd say just send it to me pronto before it spreads to your other guns.....3 points

I am splitting this thread off from the other one. So, I put in a small order for a few samples from the company I have in mind. They won't arrive until mid February. These aren't done off-shore, it was just a condition of the small quantity and taking advantage of an offer they made to digitize the TGO logo for me for free if I didn't mind the delay. That said, I am also going to speak with them about a storefront for TGO. They will do all order fulfillment, which is nice. I'll let you guys know what we need to do to get this rolling after I speak with them.3 points

That's cute. Useless as a screen door on a submarine, but cute nonetheless.3 points

Why spend money at a business that does not believe you have a right to defend yourself with a firearm? Take your money elsewhere.3 points

The FK BRNO is a new pistol that will be imported for the first time in February. The say it is a new and unique concept and design and fires a proprietary cartridge, the 7.5 FK. The Field Pistol is a sporting pistol designed primarily to be used in long-range competitions, silhouette shooting, hunting, and generally any pistol shooting activity and tasks that requires the ability to engage targets at longer ranges, especially with a folding stock , such as (PSD) personal security detail, urban / suburban combat, backup (SBR) short barrel rifle, Air crew survival weapon, mechanised armour crew weapon, among other uses. Of course adding a folding stock requires a tax stamp. It is guaranteed to shoot less than 100x100mm at 100m. That is under a 4" group at 100m. Muzzle velocity is 2000fps with 880 ft/lbs and at 100m is still 1525fps and 520 ft/lbs. There are some interesting videos on their website. They take some large animals (200-320lbs) and do ballistic gel testing. Pretty impressive results. Now for the bad news. There is only one company that is going to import these. There will only be 1001 6" Field Pistols made for the US. The first order of 100 is almost all spoken for. They are accepting refundable deposits of $2500 to reserve a pistol. Price for the pistol is $7500. The ammo is 77.50 for a box of 50 95 gr hp. Don't know why but I really want one of these. If you see me posting a lot of toys for sale on here you will know I have finally lost my mind. lol. https://www.fkbrno.com/the-pistol-7-52 points

I see Giffords took no time to start yapping about more gun control. No idea what the reasons were yet or even waiting for information just start with the political BS. Things like this are what cause more and more hatred in the country. Rhetoric that is absolutely unneeded and uncalled for.2 points

My sister in law teaches there. Sad day. My lady went to Heath. She has been tracking this closely.2 points

What the hell is wrong with the parents. Everytime this happens it seems there are parents that are lacking. It is part of the puzzle that keeps showing up. Not the entire puzzle but an important piece. Sad start for sure.2 points

I'll go in for 2 TGO hats. +1 on the idea to fund the setup. +1 on the SN hats.2 points

While I’m totally in for a TGO hat, just like to drop the idea that I’d also really like to get my hands on an SN hat as I think it might be nice conversation starter. I am constantly traveling all over the country after all. Plus, you just plain did a bang up job on that logo.2 points

Not so fast. The fact that you are offended by my being offended of your offensiveness just means one of us needs right guard! Now there is a memory2 points

Hello, Mike’s wife Lisa here. As I go through and close out and memorize as many accounts as he had, it’s really lovely to see all the condolences here. He LOVED his guns and the community he found here and on other forums. Thank you for all your kind words. He was a great husband, father, friend and Tattooer. He’s so incredibly loved and missed.1 point

We will just have to go try this out when the sickness leaves the house. They look good, and the menu looks even better.1 point

For that money I'll go build a bolt action .338 LM and hit 100×100mm targets out to +1k. I do very much like the looks, just not the price tag.1 point

Not terribly hard to find. Not sure when they went to plastic though. https://m.ebay.com/itm/Dan-Wesson-Barrel-Tool-44-Mag-Nice-/1127662467631 point

Yeah I probably would have jumped on that one if I saw it, very nice. A Dremel tool, buffing wheels and polishing compound will fix the problem areas and you will get the satisfaction of doing it yourself.1 point

7.62x25 Tokarev is what the cartridge reminds me of. I have a lot of time with the x25 and believe it would make one of the best self defense calibers in a modern pistol design. This one is a bit hotter than the x25. If you haven't looked at the x25, take a serious look at it because it will do a lot of what this one will at a fraction of the cost. At one time you could buy drop in x25 barrels for 1911's chambered in 38 super. In order to reduce felt recoil they have to add mass to the gun. It looks heavy so that might be how they are doing it. 880 ft pounds of energy with felt recoil of a 45ACP is a pretty neat trick if they indeed pulled it off.1 point

Thank you to those that responded to the thread and in PM. With a little encouragement, I picked up the revolver during lunch. This is it in its current state.1 point

I am offended by the obviously male arm wielding that hammer. The logo needs to be more gender neutral. Think that is just a silly, off the cuff comment? Nope. Now, I don't watch stupid awards shows but saw an article about this a day or two ago. Morgan Freeman, of all people (who I used to think had at least a halfway reasonable head on his shoulders) received a lifetime achievement award from the screen actors guild. His award was, unlike the standard award, simply a mask of comedy (as in the masks of comedy and tragedy.) The standard awards, however, depict a male nude holding a smaller version of said mask. During his acceptance speech Freeman criticized the award as being 'gender specific'. Oh, please, give me a break. Thing is, if the award depicted a female nude then people would be bitching about it 'exploiting women'. Further, I guess we should go around the world and make statues such as Rodin's "The Thinker" and Michelangelo's "David" more gender neutral.1 point

I'll check them out. I don't discount the energy delivered to a target - pushing a 98gr round that fast is going to dump some energy when it hits something. I question what the shooter is going to feel (and recognize that some of that is going to be subjective.) It's a cool design. I like how they appear to have lowered the bore axis. At first I looked at that beavertail and thought, "wow they're serious about that." But they have to be, I guess. Without it, it would be like the Model 97 of the pistol world.1 point

Right. Agree with MacGyver, gimmick. They have a ton of press, but on other forums it is negative attention with the detailed release. I like that a loophole was found, but the actual usefulness is lacking especially with the costs involved.1 point

I'd want to see some measured data there. That sounds great in a marketing piece - but Newton still has to sign off. And, he's a jerk...1 point

Actually a valid question. It would suck always having to ship it back to Europe if there is an issue. Not sure if there is going to be a qualified gunsmith in the US to work on it.1 point

A neighbor who is very gun-knowledgeable stopped by to help w/my inventory and showed me how to turn on the Matchdot, which he calls red-dot. I am trying to whittle down the collection to guns of easy-to-load magazines. This Ruger fits the bill. I want to keep at least one gun to shoot snapping turtles and my neighbor said I could do it w/this Ruger or my Remington 66 rifle, which also takes 22s. I am hoping a 22 hollow point should dispatch a turtle. My husband used a larger capacity rifle, he wanted to get the job done. My neighbor is very nice, sincerely helping me. That being said, his terminologies are different than how I've heard items described. He calls Glocks automatics, while I refer to them as semi-automatic. When we talk(he is rather a good ole'southern-boy, no disparagement intended) I listen and attempt to learn/remember, as he knows where all releases/safetys are on most any gun/rifle I have.1 point

It’s always bothered me when I unintentionally offended someone. If I offend, I want them to know that, without a doubt, it was intentional.1 point

Bearcats are the dandiest little .22 pistols ever. Never held the Shopkeeper version but I absolutely love my regular one. They really are just pure fun. Not sure what the current prices are and that seems a bit high but I would have that over a Single Seven any day.1 point

That does lead to a good nights sleep. Worked for me yesterday I processed a lot of ammo and slept great last night. Hell, I smiled at someone this morning before I had my second pot of coffee!1 point
-
I think everyone, myself included, needs to go spend an entire day at the range, then spend half the night cleaning guns or otherwise occupy themselves in a way that does not include the internet or television. It’s taken me a long time to realize but bitching about other people bitching does nothing but raise one’s blood pressure just prior to a few minutes of calm satisfaction after enough people have bitched along with you. Then the cycle starts all over again.1 point

It's not just young people. The fact that TGO has had to scrap certain areas of the forum is a good indicator that everyone is a bit too sensitive these days. I see a lot of people acting as though only the "snowflakes" have cornered the market on hurt feelings. That's just not true.1 point

Many of my Doctor offices have no gun signage. Don't see a way around that one, for sure on Medicare like I am. Not a lot of choices with that insurance! Sometimes, not doing business in prohibited areas is not as easy as one might think. Just my Opinion.1 point

Or good taste in inexpensive entry level pistols. That's how I got started...buying Tauri and working up. Now I'm buying Keltecs. lol1 point

Name one ban import ban related to firearms or ammunition that has been lifted? There has been an import ban on Chinese ammunition and firearms, other than "sporting", since the 90's and it will remain that way until well after I am dead and gone. And since then we have had several presidents that could have reversed that but Bush decided to actually keep it in place and I bet the Don will too. If contend that if we can buy other Chinese goods then we should be able to buy all Chinese goods but it is our government who is deciding that stuff related to guns is verboten. They claim to do it in order to hurt them financially but if that were the case then we could ban the import/export of other things, instead of firearms and ammunition, and have a bigger impact. Our government is anti gun and they will continue to chip away, little by little, at our gun rights until we are left with nothing more than our fists to defend ourselves. If the metals market has bottomed out why is ammunition still climbing? Perhaps it is because manufacturers know that is what the market will bear. When cheap ammunition goes that will only increase the price those manufacturers can charge. If our government lifted ammunition bans from every country in the world the ammunition market would tank and we would see prices drop to ridiculously low prices. The exact same thing has happened to the AR market, as startups flooded the market with cheap ARs the prices dropped. The same exact situation could happen with ammunition if those who purport to be our allies would lift the bans in place but I have a better chance of hitting the lottery.1 point
