  1. Well I'm an old dog and I use cbd products. For me it enables me to get a full night's sleep for the first time in years. An no you don't get stoned on it. Trust me, if you did I would know. I enjoyed the 70's. But seriously, I take a 15 mg gummy at night and sleep better than I have in 25 years. They're legal in TN. https://hempbombs.com/product/hemp-bombs-60-count-cbd-gummies/

  3. Then they need to educate themselves with testing or listen to the observations/descriptions of those who have been in or observed those situations and determine if they sound credible. My observations are that too many people don’t do that. Everything is application driven, and no one round is good for all applications. Sometimes you have to pick a lesser round due to recoil, concealability, or capacity. The .45ACP, the 9MM, the .40S&W and my personal favorite the 158 grain .357Mag have all, at one time or another failed to stop an armed attacker and he has shot the victim to death. On the other hand .22’s have dropped people dead like a switch was turned off. I’m not armed in my house the same way as when I carry outside the house. Different applications. Simply shooting different guns/calibers and training gives you a better idea than what you read. Especially if you shoot something besides paper. Basic Physics is the other thing. Mass/Surface Area/velocity are the factors. That hasn’t changed in my lifetime or yours. Even though the youngsters on here try to claim it has.

  4. Yea, he was the one everyone else in the family gave up on and said he would never amount to anything except his Grandpaw. He developed ADHA at age 3 and became a holy terror and was out of control a lot. The doctors finally put him on Ritlin and at age 5 he was almost zombie like. He had a doctors appointment and I told my daughter I was going with her. She had her say and the doctor said there was no other treatment and I got my time with the doctor and I asked him if he ever actually spent time talking to him or was it easier to just shove pills at him. That kind of caught the doctor off guard. Someone was challenging him decision. At first he wanted to argue but he thought better or it. He instead took Matt into his office while I sat there and actually talked with Matt and found out Matt could carry on a conversation for a 5 year old. The doctor wrote a different prescription. With in about 2 weeks we could see a difference in him. He didn't get mad at everything he was told to do such as pick up his toys and when he did I told my daughter to whip his butt but just enough to get his attention and tell him he is going to listen to you when you talk to him. I also told her not to every yell at him. He is my step daughter's son but I claim all them as my kids. Any way Matt was able to go to school and maintain a normal grade level. He had a little sister and a little brother. Because of his ADHD he is considered handicap but they have advanced so much with it since he was young all he needs now is 1 shot a month and he lives a normal life. He got s scholarship and went to a Technical College and now works in Computer Technology. So yea, it was tough going when he was first diagnosed with it but by my never giving up on him the rest of the family was not allow to and it turned out alright.

  5. The old Gallatin Gun Club is now the Middle Tennessee Sporting Association. We have a new location that we own and invite you to join as member of the range. We will have a 30+ bench rifle shed for 100-400 yard ranges, 2 trap stations and starting with 5 pistol bays. All the ranges are separated from each other with no overlap. Rifle ranges are on schedule to be completed by December 2018 with completion of the pistol bays and trap ranges by spring of 2019. IDPA, USPSA, 3-gun, ATA, high power, small bore and bench rest chair persons are planning events. These events will be slow starting at first because of ongoing construction. Stay tune for developments. We are planning on range improvements and adding new facilities in coming years as we grow. Oh yes, an Archery range is also in the works. Dues are a $200 one time application fee and $200 the first time then $200 per year after that. We have open spots, join with us as we grow. NRA membership is required alone with a clean record. ( It is a gun range after all) Contact Shawn Dorris at 615-452-5894 or shawndorris@comcast.net Mailing address is Middle Tennessee Sporting Association, PO Box 8846, Gallatin TN 37066 Range address is 319 Dry Branch RD, Dixon Springs TN 37057. This is just off highway 10 south of Layette TN.

  6. When my wife was going through a stressful time at work I bought her a bottle. She said it really helped. I couldn't help but notice I was the only customer in the shop under 60. One woman was so old and frail I had to help her up from the couch. Apparently word is out, CBD does wonders for a lot of people. I'm convinced if they legalized weed these same old folks would line up for something stronger. We would probably all be a little nicer to one another too.

  7. The letters that they wanted excluded were pertinent the firearm above. The pistol the guy built had a cheek weld receiver extension, not a brace. There was a letter about that. The extension was modified by adding a cane tip to the end. There is a letter about that. Those are the letters that were excluded. The cheek weld was also modified to extend and I don't think there is any letter about that. And most well educated NFA people believe that specific modification is what caused this case.

  8. That line from that story says it all. You need a weapon and a round that is capable of making an armed gunman unable or unwilling to fire his weapon at you. That is something very different than studying shooting victims. Our reasoning is based on our experiences. The only person that has to be happy with what you are carrying; is you.

  9. Is the cost estimate for Vetsulin, which is a veterinary-specific insulin? It is also a 40 Unit insulin rather than a 100 Unit insulin. So if it is a 10 ml bottle of Vetsulin, then a dog getting 18 Units twice a day would go through that bottle really quickly (11 days). If it is a 100 Unit per ml human insulin, there are more choices, but they may not work as well. The two types of human insulin I have used are both NPH insulin. The two brands are Humulin N and Novolin N, the latter being the cheaper option at Wal-Mart. In general, in an average diabetic dog, Vetsulin tends to work better in both terms of potency and duration of action. Occasionally a dog can take Vetsulin once a day, but the majority of patients take it twice a day. I have never seen a dog take NPH insulin once a day and be controlled. Some dogs can do fine to adequate on the NPH insulin, but I would only use those if cost created a decision of any treatment vs. no treatment. Dogs get the type of diabetes that requires insulin, so diet and weight loss helps control the blood sugar, but they generally always require insulin. Other things to consider are that the starting dose is not necessarily the dose that the dog will be on for life. We usually start low and work up to the final dose using glucose curve to guide the dose change. Also, other causes of inflammation, such as dental disease or urinary tract infections, will affect the ability to control diabetes. One last thing--all diabetic dogs get cataracts eventually, no matter how well the diabetes is controlled.

  10. Man, I'm sorry to hear this. Sounds like you've got some options to buy him a little more time. The best advice we got with our lab was to make a list of the 5 things she liked to do the most. When she could no longer enjoy those - or lost interest - we'd know her pain was taking over. Labs are so stoic - it's hard to know when they're really suffering. Ours wanted to be with us and please us until the day she died.

  18. I forgot to add, all dogs with arthritis should be on a glucosamine supplement and an omega fatty acid supplement. The specific brand of glucosamine I would use would be Cosequin or Dasuquin because the manufacturer uses quality control methods equal to a drug manufacturer. The fish oil-based omega fatty acid supplements have the most research validating their use. With both supplements, it takes 6 to 8 weeks to see an effect. If arthritis is severe, then we add a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain medication (many different brands). With long-term use, the liver and kidneys need to be monitored. There are several other supplements which each act on a different part of the inflammatory pathway. There are other pain medications that can be used. Also, acupuncture can help many dogs.

  19. I don't have a dog in this fight and won't put myself in a position to fight it. The question is how many able bodied shooters bought a brace to be used as designed? My guess is not many. Letter vs. spirit I know and agree legal gun owners don't do bad things with SBRs, taxed and tagged or otherwise. Adding in the double standards, supression of information, supporting docs, or evidence, I dont have a few thousand extra to pay an attorney (for federal charges!) to play a game I shouldn't have to play.

  20. I have a diabetic dog. First you need to get on grain free food. Yes always twice a day for shots, vetsilun runs me $43 a bottle. I have a 36lb schnauzer. So with special food, insulin, needles. It cost me about $100 a month total. Of course bigger dog will cost more. And as stated above she is now blind but gets around good.

  26. If you like to deep carry a Spyderco, you owe it to yourself to pick up one of Casey Lynch's clips. http://www.lynchnw.com They're hard to come by. He's almost got that Peter Atwood thing going on, where he makes a batch of something, releases them to his list, and they're gone almost immediately. That said, BladeHQ usually has some in stock.

I'm pretty sure something is missing from that list. And I've had several more that I sold that I wish I hadn't. Man I love 22s.

  32. I figured this would happen, so when I bought my AR Pistol I decided against a brace. Unless things have changed the BATF doesn’t make laws; they give opinions on them. DA’s and Judges are not bound by those opinions.

  45. Sad that these are no longer cheap and plentiful. I had an M44 about 8 years ago. Paid I think $140 or so for it. It was in great condition, and a blast to shoot. Wish I had kept it.

  46. Do it. As someone who’s made a few knives with a hacksaw and a few files, you can do a lot with a little if you’re willing to invest some elbow grease. If I wanted to do it on the cheap, I’d probably use some hardwood charcoal (or coal) and a cheap blower motor. The hard thing with a railroad spike will be heat treating and getting a durable edge with mild steel. If it were me, I’d practice on a spike or two, then buy a piece of 3/4 square bar stock of 1085 or something that could be properly heat treated.

  48. I seem to be the perfect height so that I've broken more than one clip over the years on the FRN models by catching them on door catches as I walk by. But, Spyderco has always replaced them, and it's been years since they used the FRN clips. They've been metal for years. Regardless, you'd be hard pressed to find better customer service in the industry. They've sent me screws and a variety of replacement parts over the years. Give them a call.
