  1. I have been wanting a nice O/U for a while. I sold some guns and saved my pennies and bought this Zoli. Took her out and shot some sporting clays today.

  10. I have no use for a .380, but those Micro 9s are mighty tempting. Their early bad reputation was concerning, but one of my brothers has one and it runs like a sewing machine, and is inexplicably accurate.

  13. When I did what I was supposed to she busted a lot of clays. I have been taking a few lessons and this was my last one. This small clays course was great for working on a lot of different presentations. Thanks. I really like her.

  15. I miss him being around. He was a nice and helpful guy, and a wealth of firearms knowledge. I want to think he'd had some health problems in the past. I hope he's doing well and just retired or moved on to other interests.

  16. Yeah got mine back in Sept and have not shot it yet. Need to slug the barrel for sizing my cast boolits and load some up. Life sure gets in the way of having fun sometimes.

  17. Ditto on the good wishes. I last saw them at a show in early '18 where I picked up some 22 and 9mm. Nothing heard since. As you, hope everything ok with them all

  18. We've all pretty much decided long ago to remove Dick's from our shopping list. I haven't been in one in over 10 years, I know, that's before the big blowup, but I experienced several things previous to this that made my mind up. They can all rot as far as I'm concerned.

  19. I not much on Facebook and such, but as I recall David's daughter was running a FB page for him. I googled it and it looks to have not been active since May 2018. Their "Magnum Materials" website is down it seems. I hope he/they are doing well.

  21. I have only been in one Field & Stream, but I don’t think I have been in a sporting goods store with more gun & ammo inventory than it had. It’s a shame they are considering destroying it over the politics. I’m surprised the board and investors is letting them get away with this. Isn’t your hatred of guns and gun owners something you would have taken into consideration before starting this business? My WAG is that some big shots in the company will be axed; and the business will get back on track… if it isn’t too late.

  24. They make the SP101 in .327 federal now. New price looks to be between $550 and $650, 6 roundd and can be had with 3" or 4" barrel. Can go from mild .32 long loads to close to .357 magnum.

  25. I agree that the long term effects may not be worth the connivence, I'm to old to have grown up with it, but was an early adopter. Created my first web page in the mid 90s after hearing a presentation on this new thing. Total number of web sites at the time was measured in the hundreds. There was actually a site you could go, that showed you all the new sites that came online so you could check them out.

  26. Let’s go back to the Armscor M206. What was she not happy with about it? It’s going to be in the weight range of a steel J-frame Smith or Ruger SP, the only real options for something with some power to soak up some of the recoil. @Grayfox54 is right on with suggesting a Smith 30 (or 31, the square butt version). Great weight, balance, and smooth actions. They might only be .32 Long but you do get six shots and recoil is minimal. If you can find a pencil barrel Smith Model 10 or equivalent (K frame) it might be the best option. Anything heavier like a bull barrel K or any L frame is absurd...the woman is 70 years old after all. There’s only one problem though. The S&W’s just mentioned are longer made but are quite plentiful on the used market.

  29. Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Absolutely the best deal on a Garand going. Get your paperwork in order and make a little road trip down to the CMP South Store in Aniston, AL and pick out your own. That's what I did for my first M1 back in 2007. Its well worth the trip.

  30. K-Frame Smith! Can she handle a DA trigger pull? Can be a bit heavy to some. If it is not a carry gun why not go with a 4" barrel. A decent used Model 10 can be had for less than $400.

  33. My mother is of a similar age and due to arthritis can't really manipulate a pistol or revolver well. OTOH she can handle a Stoeger coach gun w/ no problem. The larger shotgun shells and easy break open action don't require much in the way of fine motor control. She sleeps w/ it next to the bed. It's only two shots but I pity the poor fool who tries to mess w/ her.

  37. I have updated our "code of conduct" (Rules) this afternoon to add one new one. This comes on the heels of a conversation with a former Vendor / Sponsor of TGO who had expressed some concerns to me via email about our advertising program. Specifically, they voiced a concern that I have long suspected existed because of the amount of latitude that we have historically allowed our members when it comes to airing grievances. Folks, it is vitally important for our continued existence that TGO have sponsors who are willing to pay to advertise here. We need their patronage! Further, it is usually very beneficial for our members when we have sponsors because those sponsors generally go out of their way to provide perks to TGO members. When things work smoothly, we have excellent mutually beneficial relationships between TGO, Vendors and Members. However, the speed at which and distance to which verbal attacks on a person (or in this case a Sponsor) can spread on the Internet are staggering. One person with a chip on their shoulder can slander the reputation of a business or individual from the relative anonymity of their keyboard, and do terrible financial damage. It's one thing for that to happen in the wild wide-open of the Internet. No one can really protect against that. But it is another thing entirely for it to happen within the confines of a community like TGO, and made even worse when the Sponsor is helping pay for the service that makes that slander possible. Think about it for a moment. Why would YOU want to pay to make it possible for someone to trash your reputation? Legitimate, reasonable complaints against a vendor should be taken up with them PRIVATELY and them be given the chance to resolve the issue. This has always been my stance, however it was never codified into an official rule or policy on TGO. I have addressed that short-sight in this new rule. Your cooperation, if not your understanding, is appreciated. As always, you can read all of the TGO Rules (all eight of them) at this link: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/guidelines/ Rule #8.) Absolutely NO Vendor / Sponsor Bashing Bashing our Vendors / Sponsors in the open forum will not be tolerated for any reason. If you have a problem with a Vendor or Sponsor of TGO, contact them via a private message (PM) or email them directly. If they do not help you after you contact them via PM, let one of the site administrators know and we will check into the matter. Anyone bashing a Vendor or Sponsor in the open forum will be subject to being banned. The length of the ban will be up to the administrators. We have yet to see a forum sponsor fail to help a member with a complaint if the complaint is legitimate and reasonable. These folks help keep the lights on around here and we will not be party to biting the hand that helps feed us.

  38. Items not selling? Irritated because no one looks are your stuff? Wondering why someone else can sell the same item for more then you? 1. ALWAYS HAVE PICTURES (can't stress that enough) 2. If its a long gun always take a picture with the mag/clip/etc installed...looks 100% better...most long guns and sub guns just look strange without their magazine in. 3. Be honest about the condition of the gun. 4. Be honest about the round count(I never keep track so I always say I don't know) 5. Make sure there is good lighting in your picture (quit taking grainy cell phone pics) 6. Take a picture of the whole gun...half and half doesn't cut it 7. Starting to understand the importance of pictures? 8. Clean the d*mn grease and your grubby fingerprints off before you take pictures 9. Price the gun properly...check gunbroker(I don't care what anyone says...its pretty accurate...the books don't adjust enough...once a year doesn't cut it). If you paid too much your stupidity isn't the next person's fault. Also google can be your friend. 10. Subscribe to your for sale thread so you can contact people back in a timely manner...if it takes you 3 days to respond to someone they probably either won't get a good vibe or the emotional part of "i gotta have that" will have faded away.
