Went out this morning and did a little coyote calling. 1st stand called in a few cows and a pretty good down pour of rain... moved on to the next place. Called in 3, actually I only saw the one I shot, my buddy said 2 others were coming in from another direction but after shooting the one I ki-yi'd for a couple minutes and turned my curs loose to track him down. (buddy carries a range finder) 249 yrd shot. When I got to where I shot him I looked at my gps (dog collars) they usually have what I've shot bayed up but they were both 67 yards through a fence line. Sure enough there it lay... I called it in with a little buffalo horn barreled call with a hippo tooth tone board I put together a few months ago. I just bought the gun a guess a month ago as a retirement gift to me. Christensen arms Ridgeline in 22-250. My black mouth cur checking him out. My little buffalo horn & hippo tooth ivory call.3 points

I keep mentioning this to people. I want life to return to normal and the easiest way for that to happen is if we vaccinate a large percentage of the population. I'm young, and low risk for covid doing anything serious to me, but I'm still getting the shot.3 points

This thread has been a trip to read from the beginning a year after it was started. The 12 months that have passed were crazy on so many levels.3 points

Well. That title covers a lot of territory doesn't it? Had 2 scheduled checkups and blood draws today. My GP and my Oncologist. I talked with both about the Covid Vaccines and my feelings and health issues relating to whether or not to take it. Interesting conversations from both. Especially the gentleman who actually drew the blood. We covered about everything from the source, the intent, and the possible outcomes of this pandemic. Even got into some of the religion side...Revelation and Mark of the Beast territory. But the core of all this is that my Oncologist's comments were this..."Do it. Do it Now!" You are at major risk. Walking time bomb. Just waiting to be infected. Really said that. Well, it seemed that TnOncology was vaccinating all their patients. And since I was in one office, a call was made and I was quite literally immediately shoved out the door and sent to the one where there were some shots still available. So...in spite of my comments here previously; I received the 1st dose of the Moderna Vaccine today. I do feel rather much a hypocrite right now. But it's done. We shall see what happens.2 points

Since you are vaccinated and impervious to this deadly, scary variation of the common cold, why is it so important to you what the rest of us do regarding a vaccination?2 points
-
So how does an infected person pose more of a risk? Everybody’s favorite overpaid government idiot, Anthony Fauci, said the vaccine only keeps you from developing symptoms, nothing more. I guess “Your papers, please” is the way forward.2 points

For a virus discovered barely a year ago and a vaccine that is only a few months old? Nope.2 points

Haven't schools required children to get vaccinated for years now? I remember having to show proof of vaccinations when I enrolled at UT.2 points

Installed, big shout out to @joe4vol for use of his sight pusher in a parking lot on Bearden Hill. Hope you and Mrs enjoyed a nice meal on your trip to Knoxville. It is always to meet another TGOer in person! My fears of 'ridiculously tight' were unfounded, once @joe4vol fitted the slide in place, a few quick turns on my part, and out it came. I think I will like it, I already have a good habit, from constant carping, I mean coaching from @Cruel Hand Luke of bringing my pistol up into my eyeline; a few practice presentations and voila, there's the dot, every time. Oordered a holster, need to sight it in and decide when custom fabricated suppressor height sights will be added.2 points

Just showing my dogs off here... in my book any kind of hunting is more fun with dogs. They don't help me get more coyotes, but the ones I get are a lot more exciting. These are from various previous hunts2 points

Interesting how some folks like to take positions on things no one ever said - lol. The vaccinated can still carry COVID, and but with the vaccinated, critically, the transmission rate is dramatically reduced . Indeed, that is the whole point of stopping the communicable diseases. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-00450-z https://theconversation.com/can-vaccinated-people-still-spread-the-coronavirus-155095 Nothing is perfect, but we need to do our best to stop the spreading, not just prevent the infected from becoming extremely sick or dying. And to the point: if people don't want to be vaccinated, fine, but that choice should not supplant, interfere, or enhance risk to the rest of society which made a different decision to be vaccinated, overwhelmingly. Honestly, we all want this to be over as quickly and painlessly, but it takes effort from everyone.2 points
-
As it should be. You have the right to make decisions for yourself, but not for everyone else. If you don't want to be vaccinated, fine, but please consider that others don't want to be exposed and risk their lives to the ramifications of your choice. Moreover, it's a public issue that impacts the health care system for the rest of us, which is a major problem We've pretty much defeated the Plague, Smallpox and Polio through vaccination and precaution. This should be no different.2 points

Physical fitness is important, but I'm not convinced it mattered here. I am easily 100 pounds lighter than this officer and I can run five or six miles without much too fuss, but I don't assume I would be able to jump right back up after being shot. Mindset/survival instinct certainly plays a role and I don't know the officer's mindset or training, but I think we are jumping the gun assuming that his was lacking.2 points

Personal feelings about the issue aside, I commend you for being honest and transparent about it. Adapting ones opinions to new and updated information is a good thing. Not being too stubborn to change is a positive personality trait in my book. If my Dr. said "do it now dumbass", it may impact my opinions on the issue as well (tho I doubt that). That being said, I share Greg's fear, that this will be used to control and manipulate the population at large (already is/has). You can bet your bottom dollar your movement and access to all sorts of things will be curtailed based on acceptance of the vaccine.2 points

I've had the first dose too and get the second at the end of the month. Like highpower I was at the doctor for a checkup and he encouraged me to take it. He had it set up for me to take it then if I wanted it. I did ask several questions before I agreed to do it. I went from probably not going to take it to glad I did. He didn't push me to take it but did tell me I made the right decision. I'm not trying to talk anyone into doing it but still believe it's everyone's personal choice and I understand having doubts about it because I sure did. Between being 65 and being encouraged by my doctor, who had it himself, I decided to do it.2 points

I think that salvage operation was in the 50’s. Amazing that they’ve still got access to that steel 70 years later. Seems like those knives ought to have RAF Lancaster air group logos on them. Seems like they hunted that thing for most of the war.1 point

Not a problem if non-vaccinated isolate themselves and thus put in the effort to reduce transmission. Therefore, don't complain if there are restrictions (no sports events; no planes; no cruise ships, etc) placed on those who made such a choice. I'm sure we can all agree that folks need to accept the consequences of their choices.1 point

Water coming into the house is always fixed from the outside. Dry Loc is good stuff, but its secondary protection. Come to think of it, I had a similar problem with our house. It's on a crawlspace and there was no vapor barrier when we bought it. While installing the vapor barrier, I found one corner kinda mushy with just a little mold on the joists. The downspout on that corner was buried, but clogged and not done properly. I went out in the pouring rain and saw water pouring out up against the house. So I dug it up, unclogged the pipe, dug a big hole, filled it with gravel and put the end of the pipe in the hole. It was dry as a bone a month later, the mold was dead, and been fine for the last 13 years.1 point

I am Glad you got your first shot. this virus is not something to take lightly. Some get it with minimal symptoms some get it and die. My Wife (ICU Nurse) thinks it is very DNA related as to the effects one has. Perfectly healthy 52yo runner gets it and dies. 88yo female gets it and walks out of the hospital. If you are immuno compromised or diabetic you Need to get the shot1 point

I've got two... one in 6.5 Creedmore and one in .308. Love them both. Really great platform. I've hunted pronghorn, whitetail and elk with them. The 6.5 is a little light for elk in my opinion but ideal for anything smaller. I don't think Barrett is making them now, but that information is at least a year old so I couldn't say for sure. Once I got these all my other deer rifles became safe queens. If you see one I strongly recommend you buy it. You won't regret it.1 point

If you go to your county health clinic there is no cost. I have good insurance, but the Cumberland county vaccine station didn't even ask about it. Free at some Wal Marche stores as well: https://www.newschannel5.com/news/walmart-pharmacies-in-tennessee-now-offering-covid-19-vaccine1 point

I had my doubts at first. But at my age and condition I have a bunch of different doctors. Seems like I see at least one of them every month just for a routine check up. Every one of them was unanimous in recommending I take the shot. So I signed up as soon as I was eligible. I've had the first and will get the 2nd in the 3rd week of this month.1 point

I went to the Murfreesboro show today.Gun prices were about average,9mm and 5.56 ammo were extremely high.$1 a rd for 5.56 but the shocker was primers.$300/$340 a thousand.Powder was around $80 a lb. I stayed about an hr,too crowded for me.1 point

I have a Holosun 507k on my P365XL. I also ran have Shied SMSc that I had on it before the Holosun became available. I liked both sights. The Holosun has a dot and circle reticle option.1 point

A couple of months ago I sent my G48 slide off to be milled for a Holosun 507k and once I got it zeroed my groups were much better than with open sights. I was amazed at how much easier and faster it was for me to be able to get good hits with the dot. It's my EDC, although after about a day and a half of appendix carry I swapped the extended barrel out for the factory one1 point

But wait! There's more! Under the new rules that the House adopted a few weeks ago all references to sexual identity are banned! https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/article248264460.html The bill refers to transfers between aunts & uncles to nephews & nieces! No can do! They're gonna have fun figuring out how to make that language gender neutral. What a pathetic joke. In sooooo many ways.1 point

With today's market you should probably move forward. If the down spouts are the trouble and often they are, it can take a long time for the moisture level to get back to normal. If you did smell a musty odor you're probably OK. I had to paint some of my block on the inside with that ugh waterproof paint. Did the trick but was a pain to prep.1 point

What's not to like?! Saint John Browning's final design. It's easy to tell older Hi-Powers from the newer series. The slide always tells the story! Older ones until the mid-60's had an internal extractor like a M1911 .45. Later ones have an external extractor visible on the right side of the slide, or you can see the hole for the roll pin that retains it from the left side. Several countries made the Hi-Power. Canadian and Argentina ones are very good. Argentina started cutting corners towards the end and the difference is obvious. for some reason, both countries liked a black paint finish. The Argentina-made pistols are a relative bargain. FN made the dies and set up the production line in Argentina, so parts are 100% interchangeable. If you have large hands, beware of hammer bite. Get one with the round versus spur hammer and that is much less likely. WWII with Nazi markings should be avoided except as a collector piece. FN had a LOT of slave laborers who took shortcuts and sabotaged parts. I almost bought one that had a locking shoulder made of soft iron. I ALWAYS remove the magazine disconnect. It's a dumb idea and I can not think of single incident where someone was happy it was there. An idea that only a bureaucrat or chair-born ranger would like.1 point

If you're in middle Tennessee, metro is doing a big drive through vaccination on Saturday at Nissan stadium and appointments are widely available: https://redcap.health.nashville.gov/redcap/surveys/?s=8N3JDCMKWR This applies to everyone in group 1C statewide. Likewise, here in middle Tennessee, Walmart has just opened appointments as well. Yesterday afternoon and today, they have plenty of same day appointments depending on where you are. Clarksville was trying to give them away to anyone who wanted it yesterday. Cookeville reported this morning that "if you're between 16 and 65 we'll give it to you." https://www.walmart.com/account/login?returnUrl=/pharmacy/clinical-services/immunization/scheduled?imzType=covid1 point

Welcome to TGO. Think hard about being an absentee landlord from 2000 miles away. Plus the real estate taxes out there and the capital gains tax you will have to pay when you do sell if you don't take advantage of the breaks for just selling and buying a different primary residence. Might want to take advantage of the sellers bubble now since you will be buying into the bubble. You will love living in a free state.1 point
