  1. They've dropped "Washington" from their name because it's too embarrassing.

  2. Ya'll do realize that the majority of folks are centrists who are extremely ticked at the polar gridlock that's gripping our government. That's the reason for "Govern from the center" philosophy started. I'm pretty much convinced that the chances of you getting "Truely conservative" candidates elected to POTUS rates at about an icecube's chance in hell.

  8.   Just getting rid of Harry is cause for a happy dance. Besides, the Republicans HAVE done a decent job of holding Obama back.  I get the feeling that they're going to dick slap him for the next two years now. He needs it, and they really really want to do it.

  9. Ok,here she is mounted up. 6oz I weighed it when it came in. I know dolomite wanted to see this. It wouldn't take a full length low mass JP buffer, had to make a short one w leftovers. Works great! Booyah!

  10. This is the real takeaway. The Republicans won the Senate in spite of themselves. The greatest asset the Republicans had in the election were the Democrats. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  11. Always dug the looks of monolithic uppers, but not a fan of keymod.  Seems like there would never be a comfortable/controllable place to put your hands unless you mounted a rail section to put rail covers on?   As far as price, going apples to apples, a quality name stripped upper, quality hand guard, barrel nut, etc. when added up, gets closer to a mono.   My Noveske Chainsaw upper was $125, Daniel Defense 12" Lite Rail was $375, so there's $500 right off.  Could I (or HAVE I) used lesser expensive pieces and created a functional upper?  Absolutely (to both).   Isn't the AR the Lego Platform for adults?  Do what you want with it.   Mac

  12.   Well you don't have to dig far to see who the next prez after Slick Willie's impeachment was, eh?   106th Congress (Clinton's last year):   Senate: 46 dem 54 rep House: 210 dem 222 rep   107th: Dubya's first term   Senate: 50/50 House: 211 dem 221 rep   So, all due respect to Charles and all, but seems clear the only real loss was the 4 seats in the Senate. The subsequent disastrous loss of both the House and Senate would have to be properly credited to the ongoing behavior of the Republican President and Congressmen over the next 8 years.   Hell, Hussein himself (and Pelosi) gave the House back to the GOP, the Republicans couldn't take it on their own.   - OS

  20. This guy tested 46 different lubes/CLP's etc. The test is very long but I'll post the summary for those too lazy to read it. http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/showthread.php/141077-Results-of-gun-care-product-evaluation In regards to Lubricity, Odor, and corrosion prevention the top performers are Hornady's One Shot, Frog Lube, and WD 40 Specialist. He did have doubts about Frog Lube's cleaning ability. I know some people have been unhappy with it but after seeing this test I will continue to use Frog Lube or switch to One Shot at some point. Please note his comments on WD 40 though "With this evaluation behind me, I an unlikely to consider the WD 40 specialist as a gun care product because it wasn't marketed as a cleaner (not meant to be a cleaner so I cant knock for that) and it didn't rank terribly high for lubrication but I will be using it for many other outdoor applications and tools where I want to delay corrosion."

  21. A while back I acquired my grail knife, a double-Ti bolstered Todd Fischer Archangel XL in S90V with a skull crusher backspacer. I loved the knife, but I was never all that wild about the sheep horn scales that were on it. It just so happened that one of the scales started to bow a little and I could see a small amount of separation between the scale and liner, which was killing me. Sheep horn is a natural material, so it can shrink, expand, etc... with a change in weather and humidity. It is an easy repair with a little heat and soak in oil, but since I didn't care for the scales anyway I opted for a replacement material. I had originally spoke to Todd about some moku-ti scales, which would have been badass, but he talked me out of it. While they would have looked great, the moku-ti scales would have just added too much weight and would have been way too expensive. I guess the moku-ti would have also pushed the knife more towards a legacy/presentation knife than a user, which is not what I want (no safe queens), We finally settled on silver lightning strike carbon fiber, and that turned out to be an excellent choice. I received my knife back today, and it is just down right mean with the new scales. Here are some pics. How about this for some absolute rock solid early lockup?

  23. I really don't think that gun rights, or gun control was the big issue for either side.  The candidates paid lip service to whatever cause their base sided with, but this election was all about President Obama and his policies.  Since the Democrats had more seats to defend, they took the brunt of the steamroller this election.   But that won't stop the NRA and the other orgs from trying to tell you they were the reason as they ask you for more money.

  25.   Not sure.  I read No Easy Day back in 2013, and I already knew then that Bissonnette was the writer's real name. On 60 Minutes, he may just have wanted to conceal his looks.  O'Neill's name has been rumored out there for a while as "The Shooter."  Not really sure if SOFREP originally outed both of them, but O'Neill hasn't exactly kept a low profile regarding previous DEVGRU operations.

  28. I spent 15 years in the dodge parts business. Parts manager at a dodge dealer. Cummings is the way to go. I have had many a customer come in to order suspension parts for their 10 year old Cummings with 400000+ miles on it. These were heavy work trucks in the boring and trenching business. The 24 valve Cummings through the early 2000s had some injection pump issues(change fuel filter regularly) and don't run farm diesel. I have heard great things about the 7.3 ford, but stay away from the 6.0. My FIL whose dad retired from Ford after 52 years and he has a 6.0. Had to have a complete rebuild in the first 2 years. Seems to be a solid truck since then but he doesn't drive it daily. Only uses when he needs a heavy truck. JTM Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  30.   FDR. He failed on the 1920 James Cox/FDR ticket to the Warren Harding/ Calvin Coolidge ticket, then won POTUS in 1932. I'm pretty sure he's the only one to ever do it. Prior to 1856, the Veep wasn't part of the POTUS ticket, so we can't really compare prior to that.

  31. I hope they don't squander this opportunity to something good for the country. Forget Obamacare-let it fail on its own when more people realize We The People can't afford it. And forget impeachment--he's broken no laws and you can't prosecute stupidity. The process will tear the country further apart. And, do you really want the idiot Biden? Get the economy on track, reinstitute the Constitution in everything that is done, and curb government meddling in our lives as well as stop abuses by the Administration, DOJ, IRS, EPA, etc. Or else we'll be back to square one in 2016

I haven't been able to hunt yet this year but will be staying on property Friday night so that I don't have to drive Saturday morning. I'm not easily excited but I am extremely ready for Saturday morning. My weeks typically fly by but this week seems to be turning into the never ending week!

Then again....it does come with a free raptor charging handle!   EDIT: I see that it's one seemless peice and not just a rail mounted up to an upper, so I give it extra props for that, still tooo much though, and I'll never use keymod anyways.

  40. According to reports, the officer was not actively in pursuit.  He was on his way to backup the other officer in pursuit.  Since this is a one car incident, I suspect he lost control of his car when he exceeded the safe speed limit for the road he was on.  Though I too feel she should get prosecuted for the DUI and evasion, his death should not be used as a mitigating factor in sentencing.    Edit: speeling

  41. One thing I don't think was mentioned. Our anti-gun friends got their asses handed to them as well. Piss and moan about Repubs all you want. They won't seriously consider ANY gun control measures.
    1 point
  42.   I actually don't think that is a good analogy to be honest, it only refers to one side.  For me, it is more like there is a dog in between two people.  The first person pulls out some chicken and the dog starts to run towards that person.  The other person then pulls out steak and the dog turns around and runs towards the steak before he gets the chicken.  This goes on and on back and forth as each person keeps pulling out more food.  In the end neither one gets the dog to come to them and both are pissed because they think the dog should like chicken or steak more than the other.   What they should have done was both go towards each other and give the dog some steak and some chicken and everyone can be happy.  Instead, no one is happy, including the dog.  I am not sure this is much better than yours, but I simply made it to point out that there are two sides.  You can believe there are plenty of people who have more reason to not be happy about the results than you today if they really believe in the liberal way.     In the end, I wish more people would focus less on what they perceive as negatives and focus more on the positives.  Many don't want to do that because then they can't hear themselves bitch.

  44. It won't. they'll all put on a show at capitol hill, and go get drunk together at night. Business as usual. In two more years, the American people iwll be pissed off at the Republicans and vote Democrat again. It's a never ending cycle. The only real losers are the taxpayers.   As long as you don't have a dem or rep majority in ther house, senate, and presidency at once, nothing much will get done. On the odd occasion this does happen, bad things get done.

  47. I would like to have a law passed that would make CCW permit holders exempt from background checks (NICS) since the permit already verifies that we are able to own a firearm.  Since the NICS is only supposed to be a verification of legality to own and no other purpose, then a CCW permit makes it obsolete.   Thoughts?

  48.   Enfield said a mouthful here...   Remember this... There are three kinds of lubricants... Petroleum based (...mineral...), fat based. (... .animal lard/soap...) and synthetic... They all do the same thing...   A good one should do two things... Lubricate and displace moisture... Some do better than others... Balistoil, for example, will not do a good job of displacing moisture (...i know, i use it on our cap and ball revolvers; so i wipe them down with WD40 or something handy, then finish with Balistol...)...   An ole buddy of mine who is a world class gunsmith told me one time when i asked him "what was the best lubricant for guns":..."...The one on sale at Brownells..."...  I think he is right...   Buying lubricants for your cherished smoke pole is a lot like picking your favorite beer, beer wench, girlfriend, or wife; it's a personal choice.... Pick the one you like, and don't be too worried about the "next best" one to come out...   It's all marketing hype, man....   leroy
