  1. On behalf of myself and the rest of the TGO Staff, I want to wish all of you an early but very Happy Thanksgiving. I am sure that I will be online some tomorrow but, like many of you, I hope to be spending more time with family and food and less time with the Internet on Thanksgiving itself. I hope that each of you have an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. If you are working, I hope that you are in the company of people who you truly enjoy being around. If you are alone, I hope that it is by choice. Regardless of which situation you find yourself in, I hope that you will spend some time thinking about the blessings you have in life even if it is just the continued breath in your lungs. Oh, and if you're out and about on Black Friday, please be a decent human being and turn your phone horizontally if you video-record any riots for cheap televisions and other garbage that people don't really need. Nothing is worse than watching a video recorded in portrait mode.

  3. Ditto that one. Go after the law abiding citizens and take them away a little at a time until they get them all. It's always easier to go after the people trying to obey the law than going after those trying to break it. Makes his job easier.

Williams / @WE_Williams / November 21, 2018 / 72 Comments Fox News personality Tucker Carlson is one of the numerous recent targets of left-wing harassment. Pictured: Carlson at the 2017 Business Insider Ignition: Future of Media conference in New York on Nov. 30, 2017. (Photo: Lucas Jackson/Reuters/Newscom) COMMENTARY BY Walter E. Williams@WE_Williams Walter E. Williams is a columnist for The Daily Signal and a professor of economics at George Mason University. Much of today’s incivility and contempt for personal liberty has its roots on college campuses, and most of the uncivil and contemptuous are people with college backgrounds. Let’s look at a few highly publicized recent examples of incivility and attacks on free speech. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and his wife, U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, were accosted and harassed by a deranged left-wing mob as they were leaving a dinner at Georgetown University. McConnell was harassed by protesters at Reagan National Airport, as well as at several venues in Kentucky. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and his wife were harassed at a Washington, D.C., restaurant. Afterward, a group called Smash Racism DC wrote: “No—you can’t eat in peace—your politics are an attack on all of us. You’re [sic] votes are a death wish. Your votes are hate crimes.” Other members of Congress—such as Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., and Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Rand Paul, R-Ky.—have been physically attacked or harassed by leftists. Most recent is the case of Fox News political commentator Tucker Carlson. A leftist group showed up at his house at night, damaging his front door and chanting, “Tucker Carlson, we will fight! We know where you sleep at night! Racist scumbag, leave town!” Mayhem against people with different points of view is excused as just deserts for what is seen as hate speech. American Enterprise Institute scholar Charles Murray discovered this when he was shouted down at Middlebury College; the professor escorting him was sent to the hospital with injuries. Students at the University of California, Berkeley, shut down a controversial speaker and caused riot damage estimated at $100,000. Protesters at both UCLA and Claremont McKenna College disrupted scheduled lectures by Manhattan Institute scholar Heather Mac Donald. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education has discovered so-called bias response teams on hundreds of American college campuses. Bias response teams report to campus officials—and sometimes to law enforcement officers—speech that may cause “alarm, anger, or fear” or that might otherwise offend. Drawing pictures or cartoons that belittle people because of their beliefs or political affiliation can be reported as hate speech. Universities expressly set their sights on prohibiting constitutionally protected speech. As FIRE reported in 2017, hundreds of universities nationwide now maintain Orwellian systems that ask students to report—often anonymously—their neighbors, friends, and professors for any instances of supposed biased speech and expression. A recent Brookings Institution poll found that nearly half of college students believe that hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment. That’s nonsense; it is. Fifty-one percent of college students think they have a right to shout down a speaker with whom they disagree. Nineteen percent of students think that it’s acceptable to use violence to prevent a speaker from speaking. Over 50 percent agree that colleges should prohibit speech and viewpoints that might offend certain people. One should not be surprised at all if these visions are taught and held by many of their professors. Colleges once taught and promoted an understanding of Western culture. Today many professors and the college bureaucracy teach students that they are victims of Western culture and values. Benjamin Franklin wrote, “Whoever would overthrow the Liberty of a Nation, must begin by subduing the Freeness of Speech.” Much later, Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart said, “Censorship reflects a society’s lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime.” From the Nazis to Stalinists to Maoists, tyrants have always started out supporting free speech, just as American leftists did during the 1960s. Their support for free speech is easy to understand. Speech is vital for the realization of their goals of command, control, and confiscation. The right to say what they please is their tool for indoctrination, propagandizing, and proselytization. Once the leftists gain control, as they have at many universities, free speech becomes a liability and must be suppressed. This is increasingly the case on university campuses. Much of the off-campus incivility we see today is the fruit of what a college education has done to our youth. COPYRIGHT 2018 CREATORS.COM

  14. One small caveat. Just because somebody is doing it, doesn’t mean that it’s something that should be done. Today I discovered that there is one company that is doing it. They have a suppressor with a rail welded to the bottom. This is dumb. Very very dumb.

  16. Yeah, I came here simply to say this: If it isn't something that is being done, it is probably for really, really good reason. I mean, you could do something awesome like an SBR with longer hand-guard that envelopes the suppressor. I mean, that's the right way to do it:) EDIT: MAYBE NOT, I THOUGHT DOING SO WASH KOSHER BUT MAYBE IT ISN'T.

  21. Depending on how much you shoot, suppressors get hot. Very very hot. It’s the same reason you don’t generally have light mounts that attach directly to a barrel. You’ll cook your light and burn your hand trying to actuate it. There are other reasons this is a bad idea, but this is what I would say is the primary one.

  22. Prayers to the victums family and I really hope they catch the SOB that did this. If it's some kid or kids they will talk about it and someone will tell police. If it was an adult I doubt they will catch them. I know the individual who ever it is needs to be off the streets and locked away for ever............JMHO

  23. This wasn’t a case of gun violence; this was a case of domestic violence. It shows just how deadly a person having emotional problems can be, even willing to kill innocent bystanders on their way out. I have no doubt that this man had made up his mind he was ready to die. And once he pulled that gun, the only thing that was going to stop him was a second gun. Luckily for those in the area cops were there and engaged him quickly. Unfortunately he killed one of those Officers engaging him and an innocent woman getting off the elevator. This was a 32 year old grown azz man that was ready to kill because of a failed romance. Not just ready to kill her, but ready to kill anyone in the area. He had no criminal record and whether or not he obtained the gun legally; it appears he would have been able to. So was he a law abiding citizen? Absolutely not. He had a FOID card, carry permit, and at one point was a licensed security guard. However while training at the Chicago Fire Academy he was fired for his aggressive conduct toward women. He threatened to shoot the place up if he was fired. Officials were aware of his remarks but did nothing. Not even an entry in his record. Police were not notified. He chased a neighbor while armed with a gun. His ex-wife got an order of protection. Again, no arrest. The victim’s attorneys are going to have a field day with this and the citizens of the state will get to pay the bill. Two cases of threatening people with deadly force and no arrest. I was a Police Officer many years ago and we would have made an arrest in both these cases. Would it have changed things? Who knows, but it might have. When will we learn, we don’t need more gun laws; we need to enforce the laws we have. Threatening someone with a gun in Illinois is Aggravated Assault; a felony. This man should have been a convicted felon. Normal people don’t make threats to shoot a place up or to kill someone. Those threats can’t be disregarded as an emotional reaction or that they didn’t mean it. Arrest them, charge them, remove their guns, and if they didn’t mean it let a Judge or jury decide that and decide how it will be handled. Or…people can continue to call this “gun violence” and try to take the guns away from innocent people that need the ability to protect themselves, their families and the innocent people around them when one of these nut cases that the system has failed to deal with acts out.

  24. There won’t be a buyback. They’ll give a date by which they’re to be turned in or destroyed, after which possession will be prosecuted as a felony. Compliance will likely be similar to Connecticut’s ban on assault weapons. Maybe a little higher - but still low double digits. I’d expect the feds will gather as many sales records as they can. They’ve likely already issued document preservation orders. Many of the companies - who are looking to avoid liability or who find themselves in receivership after bankruptcy will willingly comply. There are certainly paths to persue legal remedies to all of the above, but it’ll take deep pockets. And, since the NRA has already abandoned this issue, you’d risk financial ruin fighting it. Pay attention. This won’t be the last you see of this.

  32. I have no problem with what the media is calling assault rifles in civilian hands. I have owned a mini14 in CA in 82. I have a few things now that you are insinuating I think should be outlawed. I left the west coast to escape the gun grabbers. Wrote lots of letters to my Representatives and tried to vote them out year after year. I think the ATF is ridiculous on most things. They owe bump stock manufacturers money IMO but... You seem to be irritated with me because I don't think it's a huge stretch for the general public to think a bump stock =machine gun. The general public is against machine guns in civilian hands I'm guessing. So basically I'm not surprised bump stocks are verboten now. Not agreeing just not surprised. Reagan was a mixed bag. So is Trump. The other side not so mixed on 2ndA issues. I know, I was surrounded by them and they are unified on anti-gun issues.

  35. .223 or .243 or 6.5. .270's and bigger thump pretty good, especially in a light weight hunting rifle. An accurate hit with a small bullet beats a miss with a big bullet every time.

  39. Ruger 10/22 10/22 10/22 77/22 96/22 GSG-5pk SBR Single Shot bolt action that I can't remember the manufacturer of right now. AR-15 with dedicated 22 upper. That doesn't seem like all of them. I'm pretty sure something is missing from that list. And I've had several more that I sold that I wish I hadn't. Man I love 22s.

  41. Interesting. I think it's wishful thinking that you would have time for more than two shots during a charge, but it would certainly speed things up if you did need a reload. It's a beast at 13+ lbs and after 10 miles in the hot African sun I think I'd hate this gun... a lot. I also have questions about that bolt handle being down that low by the trigger... seems like it would be a knuckle buster on a .416. Still though, a clever design... perfect for a cull hunt. For that matter, I've been close in on a few herds of two hundred plus Cape buffalo and the extra firepower would have been welcome. I'll have to go take a look at this bad boy during the SCI convention in January.
