I wanted to build a Shughart M-14 because if you’re gonna have one, it might as well be one modeled off the one used by one of the baddest men to wield it. I started with this M-14 clone from Bula Defense. Mounted an ARMS-18 optics rail and an Aimpoint CompM. I then acquired a surplus M-14 fiberglass stock. The army boys sure do love their duct tape. Once I got it stripped down, it was time to paint! As it sits now, it’s in what I refer to as the “movie configuration” ad it’s similar to what was used in the Black Hawk Down film. The CompM will end up coming off and being used on a retro AR build using the original hi-rise optic mount (carry handle gang gang). As of now there are a couple of bits that are either on the way, or requiring a little detailed work to mount. (Waiting on rings for my Aimpoint 5000 and the AIM-1/D needs a tape switch fabricated for it.) Updates to follow as the build is adjusted/completed.

I done did it.... Sig gave us the P365. Then the P365xl. Then the 356 on the xl frame & called it the 365X. Well, I went t'other way. Considering that it's the grip length that makes a pistol more, or less, concealable; I built up an XL slide from parts & installed it, along with a Holosun 507k x2 RDS, on the standard frame. P365L? Recoil & muzzle flip is noticeably reduced, although accuracy hasn't changed at 3,5,7 & 15yds. Not that that's an issue. The 507 is going to take some getting used to. Right now, I'm noticeably quicker on target with irons, but once shooting the dot is much easier to keep on target. Range time definitely needed here. Regardless of name, it suits in an AIWB holster better than the shorter version, has a far nicer 'in hand' balance & all in all, is a far groovier package (that can still take 10, 12 & 15 round mags) If you ever see me selling it, come round & smack me around a bit.....

Dumb question.... well, kinda not so much a question as it is a statement really. Pick a sight. Peep or scope. If you mount a scope, I promise you; in your lifetime you're never, ever going to take it off to shoot irons. If you're going to be sticking to hunting within iron sight ranges, put a freaking scope on it because honestly, it's far more accurate. If you wanna shoot a peep, more power to you. Go with God & ignore the scope entirely. I've been in some ri-DICulous situations & have yet to need to remove a scope. Buy good, reliable glass & it'll last you a lifetime. Or run irons & accept that you're probably not going to 12-ring that 200yd critter.

Official factory information about this gun can be found here I got this gun and holster in trade a while back. It is an extremely accurate shooter with a great trigger. The only blemish I can find on it is in the first picture just under the front site. I have the .22lr cylinder but not the 22 WMR cylinder. FTF transaction meeting in Murfreesboro or Madison. Blew my gun trading stash, but we out several miles on them today. Well worth it.

I understand that there may be a way to not have to go through this, or at least lessen the severity.

I'm saying put them into perspective and realize we don't have a problem to unduly stress over. Between government stimulus making it rain on individuals/banks/business, all those sectors of the economy starting to rev up again after shutdowns, a labor force with a lot of transition, and supply chains that are to inflexible to adapt easily, inflation is the symptom and not the disease for the moment. COVID is going to take probably the rest of this year and a good bit of the next to get over in the real economy where people have to make things and provide services.

Two of my buddies and I drove down to Texas on Saturday, hunted from 8:00 pm till 3:00 am, slept 4 hours, and drove back. Ended up with 25 pigs in hand

July 31, Aug 1?

Yesterday I was giving my ATV some lovin. Oil change, new air filter, adjust brakes, and most importantly I replaced the recoil starter rope that broke almost 4 years ago. I was doing this work, with special attention to the starter rope as I'm planning a 3 day solo trip to my hunting lease next weekend. The lease is big enough that if I were to have a battery or starter issue I could be looking at a several hour walk back to camp with no way to get the ATV out. I get everything done and go to start it to pull back into the parking spot and it's got nothing. I'm thinking that's very ironic since I literally had just installed the back up starter rope. I go get the battery charger and start to hook it up when I realize that the positive terminal is loose. Tighten it up and I was good to go.

This guy insulted every new gun owner out here, and I reckon he insulted those of us who are long-time gun owners as well. Most LE that I've spoken with are staunch proponents of legal gun-ownership. Biden couldn't have chosen a worse nominee for us!

It was a good show, as shows go these days. Next one in Lebanon,tn is this weekend, July 21/22.

Yeah there ya go! That Hog Hunter fits my vision of a perfect general “do-all” rifle for a man to have. I always loved the look of a bolt rifle with a scope and old fashioned irons. Here’s where I confess to the fact that a CZ 550 FS .308 or a Ruger RSI .308 are my dream guns. Nice porker in the other picture too. Looks tasty.

It's been a while since I was in there, but the army surplus store off Collierville square had surplus metal mags a while back. May be worth checking out or at least calling them.

You are free to take all the meat you want. Most of them get plowed back into the ground. They are usually piled up in the field and the farmers are notified. We have brought some home, but think of them as 200 lb coyotes.

My wife was a few blocks away from this shooting when it happened, having drinks with a friend. Everyone on the patio ran inside and hid. That video was wild.

Many years ago a citizen came in for repairs with an authentic Confederate 36 caliber revolver. When he picked up the gun he had the original holster. The gun was a family piece. He shared that he was to have this handgun chrome plated. The point was that it would ruin the value. The value. in this case, was historical. The citizen replied that he had no plans to sell the gun. I am of several minds on this issue. With that particular revolver it was, an atrocity. I had several Syracuse Lefever sxs shotguns refurbished. Those guns had zero finish remaining. The Lefever family was still in business refurbishing shotguns. Point being is that it all has to do with what's going on.

I think I’ve put a bunch more rounds through that Hi-Lux and it’s still going strong.

There used to be an IDPA club that shot monthly matches at Terry Walden's range just outside Manchester. I shot a few matches there when I lived closer to Manchester. I bet if you called him -- (931) 728-0223 --he could tell you if the club still shoots there. Cheers, Whisper

Not so dumb of a statement at all, and I get where you’re coming from. I’ve never had to remove a scope either......well there was that one time when a rifle came with a cheap scope on it and it failed......and I smashed it right there. But other than that, I’ve never had a good quality scope fail me and likely never will. This is a short, light, handy, general purpose rifle that I’m putting a Leupold scope on. I know I’ll likely never need to remove the scope. So I’m aware that there’s no need whatsoever for what I’m doing. But, do you ever just do something, knowing there’s no realistic need for it, but you still just want to? Probably the same reason I ride motorcycles I guess.

Hmmm, I have a Sportster, a BMW sport tourer, a Ducati 1098 Superbike, a kinda rare 89 Yamaha RD-350YVPS, and GasGas trials bike. I'm pretty sure I'll find another one I need, though. I have a brand new set of Toomey pipes and the RD is sitting on the work bench waiting for them. Just a matter of finding the time. Anybody have the rear grab bar for sale?

I'm don't subscribe to a deity, but I did spend some time in a church as a kid without it catching on fire, so I learned a little. I can't help but compare people in dire straits who haven't gotten the vaccine to that story of a man on a rooftop during a flood who had a weather report, a rowboat, and a helicopter that could have given him safety at different times, but he sent them all away because he felt God would protect him. Then after he died in the flood, he asked God what happened, only to learn God had sent the report, the rowboat, and the helicopter. I hope all of them come out okay, and I hope anyone still hesitant considers what we're seeing.

Most of the drivers in that inflation was year over year increases for things that were at a virtual standstill this time last year (airfare, rental cars, hotels, ect) because of COVID. Used cars are spiking because new cars are in delays for the semiconductor crunch, and appliances are stuck in a global shipping backlog. All these things lead to inflation for their specific areas, but they aren't pushing overall inflation up in a way that a rising tide lifts all boats, just causing some funky numbers. The math on the pay cut you reference does not hold up. Inflation and the CPI are two different things, and both are imperfect for a whole lot of reasons.

Can't say definitively, but I think my position is as good as most on it. I have now joined the growing list of those who have lost family and friends from this. Far too many over the last 3 months to not affect my past perspective and future commentary. Reaction to the Covid-19 from my family, friends, ex coworkers and even those of us here...has been varied, to say the least. From acceptance to hysteria and to total denial. I've been the black sheep/total waste/whack-job of my family all my life, and generally regarded as a lost cause. So if I give you pause to think with some of my wild-assed opinions and comments, I've done my part to open a few eyes I hope. Now a little less morbid comment. We seem to have reached a middle ground now. Most agree that it is real, no matter its source and origin or purpose. But we are searching deeper into its birth. That may yield a few surprises yet. People have died from it. Fact. Politicians, World Leaders, The CDC, and the UN have made use of this pandemic to further a mad power grab. So far it seems to be working quite well for them all. Whether we as individuals, as a nation, or as a world...will survive and return to "normal" is still to be seen. Removal of the current leadership is a must to achieve it. For my money, it's a poor chance in front of us. Yes, I am a borderline pessimist. And getting worse by the day. But I believe everything I have written here. Whether you agree with a little, a lot, or just think I'm a fat old fool. It's your choice. Just like the vaccinations...it's all up to you. Now as to "Uncle Phil" Valentine, for many and varied reasons; I hope and pray he recovers from this. Because I like him, and will be looking forward to hearing his observations and opinions now. Ok...done. Yeah, I'm a long-winded sort. Even when typing. If you read all this, I thank you. Agree or not. Just my own opinions.

Well after a 10% first responders discount and a $30 off clearance price I found a cheap but well known and well made pistol for $359 ! Pretty good score in my opinion. I have the same pistol in. 45acp and it's great. Enjoy the picture. I will give Taurus a chance later when problems seem to calm down and cease or level out. I pulled 7 supers off today and extracted about 15 gallons of honey. I probably had another 3 supers worth of partially capped honey. I will pull honey off again late July.
