Church asks boys scouts to leave. http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2013/05/31/dnt-scouts-kicked-out-of-church.wbrc.html You know, if it wasn't for sinners, Pastors would not have a job. In my opinion, pastors should welcome anyone. Of all people they should.3 points

The Staff shot the match today and everything went smooth. The stages are a lot of fun and the SO's are great. Still some slots open for walk-ins. Come on down and join the fun. Three guns on the prize table available for random drawing. Do you feel lucky? For $70 bucks you get to shoot a sanctioned match with 8 stages, free lunch, and a 1 in 30 chance to win a gun, and a much higher chance to go the prize table for some other goodies.2 points

All this fine old pistol needs is to be shot, no need for a gunsmith "good to go, yep it's fine, now pay me" unless you know it's broken, which I doubt it is. Near as I can can make out it is a nazi-era PP made around 1941. It's obviously been left in a holster for too many years, a sad fate for many old bring-backs and other pistols, regardless is looks better and is far more valuable in it's current state than if refinished in some disgusting two-tone or any other spray paint.2 points

Per Dr. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp: "How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual… as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of." Our Governor consistently exhibits a penchant for considering Stalin's Bourgeoisie in need of having direct supervision for most of their requirements, more especially those which relate to deciding who their Judges should be, how and why they are to avail themselves of the Right to keep and bear arms, those niggling issues one would assume that the Constitution of the State's Framers intended to be finalized when they left ink on the issues.2 points

Snozz is gettin ready for a senatorial or national run for something (...prez i would opine...). He has to appeal to all sectors of the electorate. Hence; "haslamspeak" on gun rights and "expanded background checks". Politics at it's worst. He is just like the others. He worships and covets the god of power. I am very happy with the way this particular project turned out. It all started with the purchase of a Yugo Tokarev and took off from there. After my first trip to the range with this weapon, I knew it needed a bit of tuning. So I did a trigger job on it and also smoothed out the operation of the safety. I did a few other tweaks and some action polishing here and there and also upgraded the magazine. It felt so much better. So much so that I thought it deserved to look as good as it functioned. It took a while to decide on the two-tone DuraCoat colors but I eventually settled on Gold and matte black, with a coat or two of clear matte over the basic gold finish to tone the metallic gold down a bit. So here she is. Some may not like the colors but it looks great in person. Next project is a two-tone CZ-52.....Black & Titanium.1 point

Couldn't say it better myself. As a atheist and very straight male I have to disagree with a lot I have read in this thread. If the church as a business does not wish them to be welcome due to their actions is their business just like a companies choice not to allow HCP holders in. If a person decides to live their life as a church goer or as a gay person or even a boy scout concerns me in no way as long as it does not effect me by them trying to push their beliefs and lifestyle onto mine. Saying that, I am deeply saddened to see the true self of some of the people on here spitting their extremely hateful words towards people they do not even know based upon teachings of a religion. Kinda sounds to me like the same as the slander towards Islam claiming they teach hate towards others that don't believe the same as you. I wish I never read this thread and am glad I am not going back and blocking the people that spewed open hate because even if I don't agree with them I still believe you should be allowed your opinion just like I've spoken mine here. I was a cub scout and then a boy scout many moons ago but was not allowed on camping trips for my last year and then thrown out due to me refusing to take the swimming test for the next badge. I was informed if i didn't want to earn new badges and rank higher then I wasn't allowed to participate. I drowned dead as a door nail when i was very young and due to that have a extreme phobia towards water. I don't hold it against the boy scouts as a group due to bad local leadership and enjoyed my time.1 point

You'll have better luck finding a 2 headed flying unicorn that poops silver dollars. LOL Seriously, I've found several guns that have a better trigger OR is lighter to carry OR is smaller. What I haven't found is any gun I like better overall OR that feels even remotely as comfy in my hand. I'm open-minded and optimistic, though, so I keep looking too.1 point

All:_______________ These aint knives; but they are very nice: They were done by a great guy by the name of Steve Liley, Coal Creek Forge, near Alton, IL. Steve doesnt have a website; but he used to post on knifeforums. His e-mail (...which he watches and answers very quickly...) is ccfms@sbcglobal.net; . These are what Steve calls his "plain jane" working hawks. As ya can see they look great. The total time from the first e-mail till delivery wuz 10 calendar days. Very quick service by any yardstick on "made to order" stuff. The hawks are made of old jackhammer drill points (...a very good steel...) and are hand forged by Steve. They weigh about 19 or 20 oz and come with about a 20 or so inch handles. The pictures do not do justice to the great workmanship in these hawks. As ya can see now, im ready to repell borders if i run out of powder and shot. Otherwise, ill just use these great tools to lop of a limb or two when i need to; or just carry 'em around to ward off any potential malingerers or 'neer do wells. Wahoo leroy1 point

This might raise a few eyebrows and skepticism towards me; My wife certainly has expressed ....concern that I like this given my usual taste in music but I'm sorry. This gal can SING! I usually loathe modern female singers but to me, she sounds like something I would hear in a speakeasy, drinking bathtub gin, wearing a pinstripe suit and carrying one of those fancy new [cutting edge technology] Nickel plated Colt Super .38's. Somewhere around 1930, you know, before Chicago became the worlds largest craphole. At the time, it was only like the tenth largest craphole. LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw1 point

Summer of 09 cost spike was the "Great Ammo Shortage of 09" after Obama got elected the first time. As soon as he got elected there was a big run on ammo. By the late spring/early summer there was an ammo shortage much like we have now, but mostly just in the super popular calibers like .380 9,40, 45 .223 and 762x39. Back then .22 was not hard to get and a lot of folks were coming to classes using .22 conversions for their pistols. I think memories of that is part of what caused a big spike in buying this time that started the day after the election last November. Add in the Sandy Hook shooting 6 weeks later, and then the dems showing their true colors and trying to pass a gun ban that was largely targeted at making things harder on LAW ABIDING CITIZENS and you get what you have now. This industry is built around servicing the needs of about 20% of gun owners because that is all that really buy anything on a regular basis. But for the last few months you have had probably 85 to 90% buying all they could find.....so if we go from 16-20 MILLION people actively buying to 70-75 MILLION people buying it creates a huge lack of availability in product.1 point

I've got a fellow I've used a good bit. He did all my interior trim, most of it stained. He's very consciousness and does top notch work. Each door and most window frames in my house required 16 individual pieces he did them all and they still look great. I won't say he's the cheapest, but you're unlikely to be disappointed. For me, it's just hard to accept that a box of 9mm was $5.99 at Wal-Mart in 2004-2005. That same box of ammo today, assuming you can find any, is around $12. If ammo continues to increase at this same rate I will be finding a new hobby. Hell, I can't even find 9mm at a reasonable price now so I'm not even going to the range because I don't want to deplete my stash.1 point

Changing possession in vehicle on school property from a felony to legal behavior seems most significant part to me. I wouldn't be surprised if some case law might come from TN college campus at some point too -- dunno about the employment part, but I'm not so sure at all it's going to be okay to expel a student for complying with state law, and especially one that takes funds from the state in the first place. - OS1 point

What this state doesn't need any more of are politicians who wouldn't know an unalienable right if it crawled into bed with them and bit them in the ass. Apparently, one isn't supposed to fire shotshells from the .38 Special version of the Cobra derringers. I had thought about purchasing one of them just to play around with and use mostly for shot shells and that fact (as per the company website) is a big reason I didn't. Strangely, the 9mm version is okay for use with shotshells (again, per their website.) I have fired shotshells (of the proper, respective calibers) from my S&W 642, Heritage Rough Rider, H&R 9 shot .22LR revolver and my NAA mini revolver with no problems. In fact, I have a sort of odd story about them. The story is a bit long (and, I hope, not a complete hi-jack of the thread) but I believe it is worth reading: Last year, I discovered that at some point a snake had taken up residence in my commode. No, I am not joking - the darned thing was living in my toilet. See, my old crapper had, well, crapped out (developed a crack/leak) and it had been replaced by one that was already on hand and that had been stored in an out building. The replacement had taken place during cold weather so my best guess is that the snake was already hidden somewhere inside it, hibernating. It must have woken up when it found itself in warmer environs. However it got there, I'd raise the lid to use the bathroom and the stupid thing would be hanging down from somewhere under the rim of the bowl - just its head and three or four inches of its body - and it would quickly pull itself back up into its hiding place. As you might imagine, dropping a deuce while knowing there is a snake with quick, easy access to your tender bits is disconcerting, to say the least. The snake had to go (and I mean leave, not, well, you know.) I first tried getting rid of it without harming it. The problem was, while I was pretty sure it wasn't venomous, I still didn't want to get snake bit. I have heard of people getting really sick from non-venomous snake bites because even non-venomous snakes can have some pretty bad bacteria in their mouths and I figured that went double for one that lived in a freakin' toilet. Being that I wouldn't exactly be able to choose where I grabbed the thing, I figured that getting bitten was a good possibility - and that was not something I wanted to explain at the ER. In the beginning, I wanted to try and humanely catch the snake and then release it into the wild. I started out trying to grab it with a pair of channel locks (in the interest of that whole not getting bitten thing) but it seems that a snake can pull itself back into its hidey hole faster than I can do that. I then donned a thick, leather glove and figured I would just 'man up' and snatch it out of there. Nope - the snake was still too fast. At this point, I decided to discard the 'humanely' from my plan to humanely remove the snake. I bought one of those frog-gigging heads that looks like a pitchfork that a tiny Satan might use on the Lilliputian souls in hell and attached it to the end of a short pole. I then went into the bathroom strode bravely onto the battlefield with my frog gig trusty spear in hand. I imagine I must have looked like a latter-day King Leonidas, bravely facing my foe with only the strength of spear and sinew standing between me and certain death or serious injury annoying discomfort. I quickly raised the lid and struck at my foe. To my credit, I landed a solid blow to the beast's serpentine body. To the discredit of Eagle Claw brand frog gigs, rather than penetrating the Wyrm's armored hide, the damn tines just bent (then broke off when I attempted to bend them back where they belonged.) I was almost certain I heard the fiendish snake chuckle as it retreated once again into the recesses of my crapper its lair. Snake 3, Person 0. Now, as they say, it was on. At this point, anger and frustration began to overwhelm caution, reason and good sense. I decided that, as Sam Colt had made all men equal, a descendent of his creation would probably help level the playing field between me and the no-legged bastich that had the audacity to occupy my throne. Yep, I decided to shoot the SOB. Now, I am not a particularly stupid person. I have a couple of college degrees to attest to my relative level of intelligence. Remember I said that my old toilet had just been replaced and that was what had lead to this unfortunate series of events in the first place? Well, luckily the old toilet was still around. Rather than risking destruction of the snake-infested bowl, I decided to test out the snake shot on the inside of the old one. The test went off without a hitch - using the .22LR shot in the aforementioned H&R revolver, the shot did no damage to the inside of the test bowl so now it was time to put the theory into action. I waited until I was sure ol' legless would be hanging down from the rim of my bowl like an anaconda hanging from a jungle tree, flipped the bowl open, quickly acquired my target and fired. Success! Quick as the serpent was, my trigger finger was quicker - nor was the scaly monstrosity faster than a speeding bullet load of shot. Still alive but mortally wounded, the entirety of the creatures body slipped rather unceremoniously from the recesses of my John Ferguson. I cried out in triumph ("Hell, yeah! Take that, you little bast*rd,") and, finally, removed it from the bowl. It was then that I could finally tell, for sure, that it was probably a rat snake (or maybe some variation of chicken snake.) As the flood of adrenalin and the heady rush of battle subsided, I actually began feeling a bit sorry for my valiant foe. Not that I wanted it back in my toilet or regretted going to whatever means necessary to get it out but I did find myself wishing that we could have come to a more peaceful accord. Alas, however, that was not meant to be.1 point

Parts kits from overseas, which is what they all to start with, are few and far between. They used to be in the $100 range and come with a barrel, so add in the cost of a cheap receiver and labor to put one together and $300-400 is what you could get into one for. Now expect to pay $400 for a parts kit, if you can find one, and most likely it also will not include a barrel as they can no longer be imported. Add $100-150 for the barrel and another $100 for a receiver plus labor and it is not hard to see why $800 and up is the new norm.1 point
