This is the kind of men our President says is unfit for duty and is forcing them into early retirement I think that this Marine could make a good president...We need more of these guys...not less. 16 best quotes from Gen. James Mattis, who retired on 22 May 2013 after 41 years of service. BY: Washington Free Beacon Staff Gen. James Mattis, known to his troops as “Mad Dog Mattis,†is retiring after 41 years of military service. The Marine Corps Times is calling Mattis the “most revered Marine in a generation.†Mattis has been commander of the United States Central Command since 2010 and led the 1st Marine Division into Iraq in 2003. According to reports, President Barack Obama decided to force the Marine Corps legend out early because he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way, and forced them to answer tough questions regarding Iran. Mattis was an inspirational leader of men and his powerful words will go down in history. Here are some of the best words that the “Mad Dog†has had to offer: 1. “I don’t lose any sleep at night over the potential for failure. I cannot even spell the word.†2. “The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event. That said, there are some a$$holes in the world that just need to be shot.†3. “I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you screw with me, I will kill you all.†4. “Find the enemy that wants to end this experiment (in American democracy) and kill every one of them until they’re so sick of the killing that they leave us and our freedoms intact.†5. “Marines don’t know how to spell the word defeat.†6. “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.†7. “The most important six inches on the battlefield is between your ears.†8. “You are part of the world’s most feared and trusted force. Engage your brain before you engage your weapon.†9. “There are hunters and there are victims. By your discipline, cunning, obedience and alertness, you will decide if you are a hunter or a victim.†10. “No war is over until the enemy says it’s over. We may think it over, we may declare it over, but in fact, the enemy gets a vote.†11. “There is nothing better than getting shot at and missed. It’s really great.†12. “You cannot allow any of your people to avoid the brutal facts. If they start living in a dream world, it’s going to be bad.†13. “You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.†14. “I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.†15. “Demonstrate to the world there is ‘No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy’ than a U.S. Marine.†16. “Fight with a happy heart and strong spirit†And one final quote for returning Veterans: Anybody surprised Obama forced this guy to retire early? Oooorah!!!6 points

The good, the bad, and the ugly, wish we could see them all as good. “You get paid, pay your bills, and there’s your money. It’s gone,†Carlo told KTVT-TV. “I said, ‘it was either feed my kids or get my registration done.†The officer wrote a citation and handed it to Carlo, who couldn’t believe what he saw inside. “Opened it up and there’s a $100 bill. I broke down in my car, what else could I do,†Carlo said. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/12/14/texas-cop-writes-struggling-father-a-traffic-ticket-with-a-100-bill-wrapped-inside/4 points

Today the judge signed adoption papers for the three rug rats we've had in our home for the last year. My wife and I now have a 10 year old, 3 1/2 year old, 2 1/2 year old, and a 1 1/2 year old. My baby girl is now a big sister. It's finally over.4 points

This. It takes practice and training to have a solid grasp on defending yourself with a blade. I'd pick up a cheap folding knife, probably a single blade in the 2" range. Look at the rough rider series. Super cheap and decent little knives for the money. I carry a 3 blade case stockman everyday for work and I dont think the biggest blade is over 2". If you need a knife much bigger than that, you really need a fixed blade. And either keep it sharp or if your worried about him getting cut, then it needs to be completely ground dull. Like the edge is flat and incapable of cutting. A knife in between those two doesn't cut well so it requires excessive pressure which then leads to accidents and cuts. And a ground out edge won't cut anything. If you decide you want a fixed blade for him let me know. Ill make him up a little 2.5" fixed blade that would work well. Free of charge of course, cause every young man should have a good knife. Like this Tapatalk ate my spelling.3 points

None of the children were related to us. DCS dropped them off at 2am about a year and change ago. The only information we had was that they were siblings and the little girl was blind. After we found out their back story we knew they were not leaving our home. Now I have a German wife one bio child and three Italian kids. Watching Discovery Channel on the anniversary of D-Day might get interesting.2 points

Ten four on that Tartanphantom! I'm not complaining, as a ride in the country is always relaxing to this ole country boy, that was raised on a farm, with game just out the back door. OK Corral would be worth the five bucks, if you only went out there and ate a sack lunch, and listened to the sounds from the woods. F...r...e...e...d...o...m! This my favorite of all the ranges I've been to. Hope it lasts forever.2 points

If you wish, here's a link to the proposed changes..... you can also place your comments - (look on right side of page). If you have a constructive comment, by all means place it!! ... no BS stuff please as this will just hurt the cause. May not make any difference but you can at least voice your opinion. http://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=ATF-2013-0001-0001 As far as what this will do to the pipeline if it goes effective, NO one can tell you that right now.. even the BATF. We're just going to have to ride it out. I have had a slew of folks, thinking they'll be grandfathered in, buying stuff on trusts these last few weeks .... possibly ... but it would not shock me either if they threw these all back and requested the additional artifacts. Keep in mind, it's taking months now for forms to even go pending. I'm telling folks to 'assume' the worse and that this will become the new norm... understand though even if, trusts will STILL be valuable tools for multi-ownership, probate streamlining, etc... If you're thinking about getting one just be sure you're ok with the possibility they may do nothing for you in regards to signoff, prints and photos and base your decision on the other fruits they afford. jcoosi, what cans did you get? I know it seems strange but I bet you'll enjoy the 22 can the most... It will give you the biggest WOW factor.... I STILL, after all these years, prefer shooting 22s suppressed. The other cans will be tools you find useful and enjoyable but that 22 is going to be the one you show off the most to others ;o) Welcome to the dark side! Forever will it be your destiny!2 points

SInce we have had problems getting bullets to shoot as many SASS cowboy matches as we shoot It was good to hear of a new bullet maker in Tennessee. I previously posted that on a Sunday Customer Service of Falcon Bullets took just minutes to respond to a question. I don't know for sure if my query prompted or sped up their new line of bullets but I'm happy. They sent me an email saying the dies to produce 200 grain RNFP in .452 were in so last Saturday I made my order. It was delivered on Friday. I have shot Missouri Cowboy #4 for years but they now have a backlog of orders. Visually the Falcon bullet doesn't show any difference from the Missouri one. I spot checked about 25 from each box of 500. There were no air holes, no cracks and the weight was consistent at 199.7, 8 or 9 grains. I see no difference in the bullets at all. Lube looked the same. Cost was $3.50 more per/500 but Falcon could actually ship when I needed them so that's a plus. Missouri also gives a discount to our club so that reduces their cost even more, but doesn't ship bullets they don't have. They also don't have to pay Tn sales tax. I have everything I need to cast my own but I haven't gotten that desperate yet. Besides it's too much like work. I'm set for a while but I will probably order from Falcon again. Here is their website - http://www.falconbullets.com/ Cherokee Slim1 point

I've fought with some tough filters, but this sounds extreme. A screwdriver through the side with enough leverage should either turn the filter or tear the metal. A good strap wrench should get the job done, the worst I've ever had them do is crush the sides of the filter in. You aren't reusing the filter, so who cares? Crush the sides in, tighten the wrench up, and keep going until it turns or comes apart. If all else fails, you can do what Spots suggested. Take a chisel to the sealing edge of the filter and tap it in a counter clockwise direction. That should get it to break loose. Only problem might be having the space to get a hammer and chisel in there!1 point

I doubt it matters if we "like it" or not...we are living in a technological revolution that is and will have just as profound an effect on this country and the world as the industrial revolution or the renaissance did...there is NO stopping it. If you tried to name just the parts of our lives that have changed because of technology in the past decade I doubt you could remember them all...remember "flip phones", Compact Disks, dial-up modems, AOL, or cars without more CPUs than the Space Shuttle? Kids born in 2000 and later have no idea what a "record" is or that the interned hasn't always existed or that we can't just talk to our phone or our car and have it do something for us. Do any of you have young children or grandchildren that have walked up to your TV and tried to change the channel by swiping the screen because they think it's just a big iPad and a "remote control' is a foreign object to them? Twenty years ago a futurists said that we had seen more technological changes in the past 50 years than in ALL OF HUMAN HISTORY up to that point but we haven't seen anything yet. The truth is, technology is neither good or bad...moral or immoral...fair nor unfair...it just is. Facial recognition can be used to spot a known terrorist that DHS thinks is in the process of planting a bomb at a public event or it can be used to spot a "dangerous" patriot who doesn't trust the government and has spoken out about it. We can try to insulate ourselves from it...avoid it...but the truth is that technology has done a lot of good for us. It makes our lives easier; in some cases a lot easire and it some cases, it's the only reason we haven't yet taken that big dirt nap. What really matters when it comes to technology is what we do with it. Most of us don't trust "Homeland Security" because we tend to not trust anything the "government" does...I understand that...but I don't think it makes any difference whether we like it or not. The best we can hope for is to try to put good people into power who ARE moral and good and fair.1 point

I can honestly say that in 5 years the only people I saw not get their mags seated were normally female Marines. And I coached on the range on and off for 4 years. Like I said, just my opinion. I'll take the take the 2 extra rounds and just make sure my mags are seated right. Tapatalk ate my spelling.1 point

He's right, but wrong. I do teach / subscribe to the "28 in a 30" practice (and now my Dept does too), but only for one reason. Reloads. Reloading an AR15, with a closed bolt, is usually much more positive with 28 than with 30. This goes for the vast majority of AR mags out there. I've been to numerous training classes where there is someone who insists on loading 30, performs a closed-bolt reload, and attempts to fire...only to get a click and have the fully loaded mag drop out of the gun because it wasn't locked in fully. 28 creates less spring tension and makes it less likely that this will happen under stress...whether it's a timed drill or a fight for your life. Load the mag already in the gun with 30 if you please (if two rounds are that big of a deal to you), but I'd suggest keeping the reload mags with 28. Spring life has nothing to do with it.1 point

TV cop shows have been preparing us for this all along. They give the impression that this is just good police work. After this is installed you can be located and identified anywhere there is video cam (traffic cams, ATMs, etc. The excuse is that this helps them get "Bad Guys" but they will be determining who the Bad Guys are. (Maybe wrong political affiliation, wrong religion or wrong color?) I'm for helping the LEAs as much as the next guy, but this is getting into "Big Brother!"1 point

Mark i honestly don't see any difference between the two. they are in for themselves. I really don't care who wins. Sad isn't it? Carr might go to DC with high hopes but give him a term or two and he will be like the rest. they are all more equal than the rest of us.1 point

Rand Paul and Obama are in agreement on the issue. It would be more cause for concern if he was willing to change his positions just to take a pot shot at the sitting President. I would put this much more in the "Rand Paul acting like an adult" column.1 point

While I disagree with his 28 rounds in a 30 video, I like a lot of his other stuff. If a mag is designed to hold 30 then that's what should be in it and if a 30 round mag doesn't function properly with 30 rounds then its a poor design. I don't know if I would want to carry them anyways and the whole spring tension argument, it's been proven time and time again that keeping a spring compressed doesn't shorten its live, it's cycling the spring that will weaken it and eventually lead to magazine failure.1 point

There will be more folks unemployed then employed by years end or there will be more part time people working then ever before in this country's history...........jmho I heard on Fox today that many large corporations are cutting everyone's hours back and many of them hiring to begin second and third shift all with part time people. The Oil companies are all cutting back and going to the part time programs so no telling what is going to happen to fuel costs. All I can say is the man promised change and he is keeping his word. I hope everyone that voted for him is happy. That is all I'm going to say on this cause any more and I will get booted off the site.1 point

Eh... I mean, to be fair they could have just as easily posted a headline saying that Obama is a bi-sexual wrestler. I didn't see any hard facts in either of those articles. Just accusations. Is it plausible? Well, duh. But it's also plausible that it's a smear campaign because they're not happy with the Obama Administration. And I'm not even a fan-boy.1 point

I've bought a good bit over time from them at gunshows. Only thing that didn't work out so well were some .38 and .357 cowboy loads. Couldn't hit crap with them from revolvers, but worked fine in my Marlin rifle. Finally decided powder was just too slow burning out of short barrel, acted like bottle rockets. -OS1 point

After 83 posts, I'm a little surprised that Sergeant York has not been cited as an outstanding war flick. Gary Cooper won his first Oscar for his performance as the former hillbilly rabble rouser turned Christian and later Medal of Honor recipient. I also encourage members to take a day and visit the York historical site in Pall Mall.1 point
