  1. So this is our new pup Gus. My wife went and picked him up today. He is a Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog, say that three times fast, and was 7 weeks as of Thursday. Him and Lilly are already acting like best buds already too. First thing she did was bring him her prized toy and drop it right in front of him.

  3. I usually get 10% off my bill at Krogers using my plus card and I don't have to deal with Walmartians. On another note, it's a private business. They are under no obligation to give discounts to specific classes of people. I don't think that makes them "greedy". Operating a business right now is tough. Everyone is having to cut back here and there to deal with the crushing weight of our bloated gov. I'd say it's more greedy to feel entitled to someone else's money. If they offered a veteran discount then recanted it, I wouldn't have heartburn. It's up to them. If they can afford it then great. If they can't it isn't my place to say they "owe" me anything.

  4. TFA is the most pro-freedom group in the state.   The whole Fedex argument about private property rights is illogical.  It's your car on their parking lot.  Just because you bring your car into their lot doesn't mean that they have the right to dictate what you have IN your car.  Your car is your property.  The interior of your car does not become Fedex property when it is parked in their parking lot.  By Fedexs reasoning, they can ban you from having a bible in your car.  They could also prohibit any Ford car or truck, or decide that any shade of brown vehicle is forbidden on their lot.  You see how stupid that sounds when you apply it to things besides guns?   There is a reason that unlicensed carry is called 'Constitutional Carry'.  It's because there is nothing in the Constitution that says that government can require a license for someone to exercise a right.

  5. You asked homeskillet, they gave you a response, no reason to get uppity. Most, not all but MOST, of law enforcement are all for responsible citizens and their second amendment rights. I suggest looking into county ordinances on the matter.

  11. The only people who take these elitist windbags seriously are people who have already made up their minds and are just looking to be validated. We got the same nonsense on the conservative side of issues. Don't worry, it'll be summer soon and they'll be back to global warming with some kind if El Niño, La Niña, polar vortex, heatwave-mageddon, unprecedented temp nonsense.

  13. So bad for the thug, so sad for the shooter that he may have to defend himself and have legal fees. Under the circumstances of the shooting, the shooter shouldn't be investigated at all, whether he was carrying legally or not. He saved no telling how many lives. Stuff like this just makes me sick.   Dave

  19. http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Bill/HB1667.pdf   "As introduced, protects the right of a person to transport and store a firearm or firearm ammunition in a privately owned vehicle; prevents any owner, lessee or manager of real property from taking adverse action against a person transporting or storing a firearm or ammunition; creates a civil cause of action for damages"   Expands the definition of personal property to "mean any item that is lawfully owned or possessed by a person and includes, but is not limited to, firearms or firearm ammunition."   States that "An individual who is lawfully in possession of a motor vehicle or an occupant of a motor vehicle may transport and store in such motor vehicle any item of personal property."   Hopefully, action on McCormick's inferior measures will be delayed in the House until this one can be considered.

  21.  Well I'm bringing this thread back until Wed. or Thurs. Another TGO member and myself have traveled to FL (we're staying with my grandparents and hunting land that my family settled way back when) to work some deer over and possibly some hogs if we're lucky. We got down here late last night and went out and hung stands for this morning. I saw nothing this morning and Tim had a doe sprint out of the woods, make a turn and never checked up. I took one this evening as we were headed in from the blind so we won't be coming home empty handed no matter how the rest of the trip goes. We'll hunt here tomorrow and again Monday morning before leaving to meet Tim's dad at a deer camp 45min - an hour east of here and hunt there until Thursday. My goal was to come home with at least 4 deer between the two of us so hopefully we'll meet and (fingers crossed) exceed that goal. Cell service was poor(actually non existent) and my cell battery was dead but i'll try to do better taking pictures of anything we a fortunate to take.   There are hogs getting really close to my family's property but so far have only been spotted once on a trail cam so I figure as fast as they multiply we'll be seeing them with some sort of regularity in the next few years. My cousin has killed a few within 2-3 miles of here so they are awful close and part of me is excited to get the chance at them but the other part dreads it because of the damage they are responsible for. The place that we are headed to on Monday has hogs move through often but is not overrun with them so i'm hoping we get a chance to take a couple while we're there.

  22. I also try to be aware of my neighbors. I generally shoot during the weekdays and quit before 3pm. Most neighbors, the ones I don't hate, are at work during this time so they don't hear a lot of shooting. But even when I talked to them they said it didn't bother me.   The only neighbor that had an issue with me shooting has a problem with guns. He doesn't live up here but visited his property every couple of months. I caught him trying to look in our house with binos. I walked in and then back out to look at him. He didn't appreciate the fact I was looking back at him with a scope. A few weeks later I was showing some kids how to shoot and he came on our porch cussing about all the shooting. My wife asked him to leave and he caused a big stink. My wife said she was going to call the cops and he said that isn't the way to treat neighbors. We told him we don't care because he came up cussing. I even gave him my number and I told him to call me before he came up and he would never hear another gunshot. His response was that people should not be shooting those things anyways. I told him that the shooting wasn't going to stop and he said he would see about that. He said he was going to call the cops and tell them I was shooting illegal machine guns, which I don't have or shoot. After that he would honk his horn any time he was on his property and I was shooting. After that we put a metal gate up across the driveway and after that he would spin his tires and honk his horn when he realized he couldn't come back on our property. He even decided to shoot in an attempt to upset me as I was shooting. I just chuckled. There is a lot more to the story but I am not going to go into more detail.   I have even had to shoot some big stuff in the middle of the night and the cops never show up.

  23. Unless I felt threatened by her for some reason, I'd prefer to take my chances with her rather than the "authorities" you suggest reporting her to.   I usually don't enjoy talking to someone with a badge pinned to them.

  24. No, not in Tennessee. You resist an officer attempting to make an arrest and you will be charged. You address greivances, such as an illegal arrest, in the courts.

  28. I thought it was a good show, but goodness was it ever crowded! I sold an old model 10 Smith and bought a model 28 Smith. Also found a box of 30-30 projectiles. I haven't seen any of those for sale in a while. I think David has lost a lot of weight since I last saw him.   I actually saw several guns priced realistically. That was a breath of fresh air.   I would like to have met some of you guys. We should paint our faces wear name tags, or something.

  31. Yea that's a bummer! In addition, there's a high tax rate on food here and if I drive the short distance to Murray, KY., there's no sales tax on grocery food. It was worth the trip, now I'll have to weigh any savings.

  32. I have an Aldi's as close as my Kroger and Walmart. I tried them a couple times and bought some of their canned vegetables. What very disappointed in them. They were almost 50/50 water / vegetable mix. Had to use two cans to get a normal amount of vegetables for a meal where I use 1 can with other stores. I guess I should not complain. I live alone, just me and the old dog and I actually spend more money on her food items than I do mine sometimes. Some friends have told me I am crazy for spending that kind of money on a dog but she is my very best friend and if your going to have a dog it is your responsibility to provide for it just as you would any family member but that may only be my way of thinking. She loves to go riding in the jeep and back seat is all hers and the few times I don't take her like when I go fishing and take the bass boat and going to be gone a long time she has to stay home and guard the house. She pouts but then she gets rewarded when I get home with some Jacks Turkey Jerky and I am forgiven.......lol. I have to go to Sams once a month and buy her Turkey Jerky as Sams has the 1 pound bags you can't find in retail stores and they are only $8.98 a bag. Compared to the cost of real dog treats I can by Jacks there cheaper than dog treats made in China. Plus I can eat the Jacks jerky and can't eat the Chinese Dog Treats. I might look at Aldi's again for some other products like Bread, Milk, and odds and ends stuff.

  33. If I saw someone walking in the mall with what looked like a AR-15 on his back I would not call the LEO unless I new for sure he was doing something illegal or going to do something illegal.  I do not assume because he has a weapon that he also has bad intentions. The same way I would not call LEO on someone that I noticed CCing. I may make sure I am not in harms way if something bad happens but I am not getting LEO involved just because he has a weapon.

  42. I think most people that have an HCP would keep it, and I doubt the state would pass up that money. I don’t expect to see in my lifetime the Feds telling a state what they can or can’t do with carry laws so an HCP would still be needed to travel.

  46. I fully agree, but ... :)   the anti-open carry folks are, by and large, gun people who would not actually support laws or enforcement against open carry.  I sure don't.  I think open carry is a bad idea, but that is simply my own opinion.  I would not support any laws against it.   For the record, though its been a few years, I have heard complaints about concealed carry too (no honest person would do that, they would wear it openly, people have said that).   The 'but' that worries me are the people in power who say "I support the 2nd but you do not NEED XYZ and those things are scary lookin"   --- the current theme being plastic rifles, but before that it was magazines, and at one time it was any pistol esp smaller ones, and so on.
