What I cannot figure out is why the northern people come down for our culture then start trying to change it by complaining at all the board and commission meetings! We actually had one say in our county commission meeting that we should be like where she came from. Our commissioner suggested that she go back where she came from since it already had everything in place for her. The look on her face was hilarious!!

  What "hate" are you speaking of?  No one that I'm aware of is living in the past thinking there will be some great repeat of the of that war.    The simple fact is there are still significant cultural differences between the South and the north.  I am one of those that lament the decreasing uniqueness and individuality of my culture.

Well I just had to like a few of those posts. God forbid we show any pride in our heritage or joy for the rebirth of the economy of the south. I don't feel anyone wants another civil war, but the scars of that war run deep and tend to escalate emotions in southerners that many cannot understand. But in the end we should remember we are all Americans , and we can all be proud of that. :)

Well I have been doing some reading and it looks like the South is winning the war this time.  So far the Yankee unions are not allowed in the any Auto plants south of Mason / Dixon line and ahve to get in all of them and to date the Yankees have lost at least 5 Firearms companies to South or southwestern States. Don't look to good for the Yankees right now huh? They also didn't get into the Boeing Plant when they tried to force their way into South Carolina Boeing Plant  .......................jmho

  It's an expansion, not a move. That gives them lots of flexibility. And you gotta figure too, these manufacturers shop several different states so they can get the best deal to offset capital. Picking up and moving a plant, complete with lapses in production is a whole nuther animal. The little guys are doing it in some cases, but not the big boys.   From what I've read, they're opening this new plant in Hunstville. That means there's a local pool of engineers and top notch machinists that you don't find in most places. I'm going to guess that Remington knows what they're doing, and will pull it off without even getting bruised. When it comes to the folks left in NY, it won't be the first time a bunch of liberal politicians killed a bunch of jobs. I remember the mass exodus out of Michigan in the late '70's. The smart ones left.

I never suggested Yankees are dumbasses, I just want them to stop moving here and bitching about southerners. If you don't like it stay the hell out. I've been to New York. I didnt like it. Thank you everyone, it was a fun day with the wife and we had a very good time at the gunshow. Parking was only $5.00 and our entrance cost us $8.00 each. Now to the good stuff! About halfway down the first aisle was a large shelving unit filled with powder but unfortunately not the variants I was looking for. Very fortunate though was the large selection of primers and especially the big crate of 9mm fmj bullets. As I was tallying up everything I wanted I noticed a young lady working feverishly to help as many folks as she could. As she hurried by I quietly said, "Are you Samantha?" She locked up like a bird dog on point and turned to find out how I knew her. I explained that she came highly recommended on the TGO forum and I was a member. Suddenly for just a few moments, my wife and I became the most important people at the show! Between the great deals we got and the personal and friendly help from Sam, you can be sure this will not be our last transaction with these great folks. Thank you, Sam. I look forward to loading my 9mm's. If you're looking for reloading components, then like most others here on the TGO I recommend you check these folks out. You'll be pleased.

You have otherwise law abiding citizens of CT sitting at home minding their own business...  and some statist gets a wild hair to violate the constitution and turn them into a felon...  And those citizens are supposed to wait around until the government shows up on their front door and tries to take their freedom or their life...  all the time minding their own business?   Frankly I think the citizens of CT have shown great restraint...  I'm half surprised in the days and weeks following the vote on this unconstitutional law a dozen of those legislators didn't end up face down in a ditch, or hanging from a light pole.  I suspect if word gets out that their going around to peoples homes looking for banned firearms, that restraint may well falter...  And some days I wonder if that shouldn't be the reaction a lot more often...     To paraphrase Norquist...  It might not be a bad idea for the government to worry the people might get unhappy with them one day, and drown the government in the nearest bathtub.     

If I have one that won't come out, i put both hands on my hips and say: if you don't come out I will beat you like a child in a Chinese sweatshop! Pin comes out w zero effort ;) All fun aside some kroil or pb blaster may soak through and help, If it won't come loose try heating the block w a hair dryer or heat gun on low. I've had easy and ugly. It gets ugly when it's older easy when new. I use snap on pin punches w a dead blow hammer to get the most force to the fastener. Hope any of this helps.

At some point in the future I will most likely be murdered by agents of the state unless I choose cowardice and accept the chains of slavery the state wishes for all of us. Some folks will wear them gladly, some folks will die by exercising their last inalienable right, the right to an unfair gunfight. To be clear on something I think you may be misinterpreting me and I want to ensure that I am 100% clear. I am not speaking about simple, petty crime. I am speaking about the civil war that I think has already begun much like the War Between the States began long before Fort Sumter. At the point anyone engages in that last unfair gunfight, their war is over and their battle was with the wrong people. The government agents who will come knocking in the early morning clad in black like the assassins they are aren't the real enemy. The real enemies are the politicians who send them and their media lapdogs who sell their lies to the masses. They are the ones who are deserving of the citizen vote of last resort now that the ballots are meaningless. When they understand that the wages of their sins against the people are a few dozen grains of lead to the cranium then they might begin to reconsider their crimes. I'm admittedly not very eloquent in making my case for right of armed response to the crimes of the state. Well the burden of what to do with it is now off my shoulders. I gave it back to him after I learned that his youngest son Casey had been hoping someday his father would pass the rifle down to him. Butch called me this morning and asked if he could have it back because he found out that Casey wanted it but never would ask him straight out for it. I was more than glad to give it back to him so he could pass it down to Casey. I think he is going to take it over to Casey's home soon as he left here. Problem solved and no ones feelings hurt I hope. Thank all of you for your help in identifying the gun and it's origin. Now if I run into an opportunity to get another one I will at least have an idea what I would be getting...... :up:  :up:

Moving that plant will be a massive undertaking; I doubt it will happen quick. I love Remington products and own them. I think they make the best bolt actions rifles in the world and their user lists prove it. But I would be disappointed if they turned their backs on the employees who have made them what they are today. I know a lot of them won’t want to make the move, but I would think they would want to keep as many of their good people as they could. Their employees didn’t cause the problems they have.

I dont see as a north and south thing, more of a way of life thing. If you dont learn from your mistakes you will repeat them. They all work mostly the same for cleaning IMO. The real difference lies with the ability to lubricate. I give the nod to balistol as the best all purpose CLP product. It cleans as well as anything, safe on pretty much any material, and does a pretty good job staying put as a lube. Grease maybe better if you use the right kind, but balistol works for me. I will sometimes open a jar of Hoppes just for the smell. B)

The most negative comments I see are from those that are supposed to be pro-gun and pro-carry. Comments on why this won’t pass or why we can’t get this through. You are from TFA and it is my understanding you is a lobbyist. The TFA wants money; for what? For someone to come in here and tell us why this can’t pass? I apologize if I don’t understand the politics in play here, but are you saying we are wasting our time trying to get carry passed for all citizens? Sorry if I sound harsh, but I am not accepting that this legislation can’t pass. I don’t care how it got there, and for you to make the claim that it was proposed by at risk candidate who won by 4 votes sucks. Tell us what we need to do to make this happen.

The sad thing is about this 'adult' game of snatching up every last .22 round on the planet, is that the kid's suffer. The .22 rimfire is the number one kid's gun, period. It's what our children cut their teeth on whether at the range or backwoods, plinking some coke cans. How many dad's and grandpa's are feeling the pinch of rimfire availability, to where its tough to take the kids out for an afternoon of burning a couple hundred rounds? A lot would be my guess.   The hoarders who think they have to stockpile 50,000 rounds of .22s for the end of the world ... well ... I'd call that a bit obsessive. :2cents:

Garufa, oddly enough after reading Daves' post I got the sudden feeling that medical marijuana might have a purpose after all.   Don't take it wrong, Dave - I really feel for what you've been through and you have my sympathies.  Cynicism, no matter how well earned, is one of those reflecting pools that you can fall into and drown.  Have a little faith, baby.  It's a motherlovin' beautiful bridge.   Besides, the whole southern attitude towards Yankees and government is the only bright spot I see in the future of this country.

I messed around until the last minute on my permit renewal. I would rather get a colonoscopy from a Pakistani intern than go to the Driver's License place, so I took my chances by mail. I mailed my application and money order on 12-02, and got my temporary letter late last week. My new permit showed up in the mail yesterday (12-16), two days before the old one expired.   I know you can't count on it every time, but I sure was tickled.

I'd go to the Hodgon website and see what the recommended start load is. Or look in your loading manual.   I just went there. http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle   They show a 43.7 start load with a 150gr bullet, so the 40gr load sounds safe enough.

And to muddy the water further, the opposite is true of .308 and 7.62X51...

Well, get you some Ramsey!  I will be on that team, but, you might want to check and see where his PAC is at dollar wise.  He has the backing of Big Business and nobody is going to challenge him in his home district, but by all means form a group, announce your intentions and we will see how that goes.   My vote is Vance Dennis, he is low hanging fruit that can be taken.  Those who have watched the actual machinations of the legislature will know that he is Establishment through and through, and is no supporter of firearms Rights.

It is annoying when people from up north make fun of people from the south for being ignorant and stupid. Even more annoying when they move here and say it. My in laws do it all the time and it drives me nuts. I'd be cool if folks from up north would keep their happy asses up there in their perfect Utopias. Gosh!!!!   I really didn't want to re-fight the Civil War when I made to post. I just thought it was kind of unique that after all these years of listening to how great things were in the north and how backwards things where in the South according to the Northerners there sure are a bunch of them wanting to get below the ole Mason / Dixon line really bad these days. I also grew up my 1st 17 years in Illinois Dave and yep, I hunted and fished and did all the same things I and most folks do down here. I will even say this. I have a friend that still lives up there and we hunted and fished all the time while growing up and we took loaded guns into the small town we lived in. During hunting season for Rabbits and Squirrels and other small game we could shoot with 22's we even pack single action six shooters in western style fast draw holsters tied down on our legs like gun fighters and went to town with them loaded. I had a Colt with bone grips and Dave had  Ruger with wood grips. Not one person said a thing or thought anything about it. Everyone in town knew we hunted and many folks got free wild game from us cleaned and ready to cook. In case anyone is interested back when Dave and I were kids we did a lot of hunting and the pistols were for shooting rabbits that were setting tight and we could shoot them without filling them with lead BB's Even the police chief would get rabbits from us to make his Hausenpheffer(spelling) rabbit dinners with. He knew the pistols were loaded and never said a word. So yea I grew up with guns all my life, Even up there. I think I mentioned that i am a half breed. Half Yankee and half Hillbillie and was proud of it but it was never an issue. We came down ever summer for Vacation and stayed with my Grandpa on his big ranch and my father always said he wanted to retire down here near my mothers people and in 1967 we moved South and lived in a beautiful Log home that was built in 1850 that was located on the ranch. The only thing I missed and to this day still miss is my buddy Dave from up there. I speak with Dave often and he said I would not recognize our hometown now. It is a suburb of Chicago. He finally moved to Streator Illinois near the rest of his family when he retired. Point is I didn't plan on starting a major North South Feud but thought it was kind of funny that the North had all this great stuff going in their favor with manufacturing and had the Auto Workers Union and all the Iron and Steel Workers unions and everything else they could stick a  union in and control and they bankrupted all of them and now they are driving the Firearms manufacturing  out with their stupid laws and now all the people in the North want to come down here. I don't mind if they move down here but don't expect me to change my way of life to suit them cause that ain't happening. I still throw my hand up and wave when I am out in the country and pass an on coming truck or car and normally they wave back. I also honk at friends on their front porches in the summer time down home near our old ranch. Country is still country down there.  If I cross a line i should not have cross i am sorry...............but it's jmho

I've got a couple more projects going in the house (one of them being an overhaul of the upstairs, new sheetrock and all) but as soon as they are finished i'll be installing my security system in my shop so that I feel comfortable moving my man stuff out there.
