Unlike most people on this thread, I was actually at the Everything Weapons store this past week to pick up some ammo and a couple mags. Their Armscor 22LR price is at $55/500rds now. Also, there is a 10% discount on everything in the store except guns. So they're paying our sales tax, which I think is great. Finally, as I am a poor college student, I used to buy guns online at Buds or cheaperthandirt and have them transferred to EW because their transfer fee is reasonable and they are very helpful with any questions I have and don't ignore me like other gun stores around town. But last week, I noticed that most if not all of their guns are match priced with buds! I don't know how a storefront retailer can afford to do that, but they obviously manage. I appreciate having a place in town like EW and I will continue to visit the store, regularly. I'm not going to condemn an entire locally owned and operated business just because they had a high price on ONE particular ammo. Like other people said, who knows what their cost is? If you can find it elsewhere cheaper, then good for you. But some of us, who don't want to get up at 4am to stand in line at walmart for substandard Winchester 333 that won't even cycle in my 22, will go to EW.
Interesting choice for a your first post on TGO.4 points

There is nothing wrong with thanking someone for a job well done, be it a police officer, a sales clerk, or a street sweeper. When a person who is in a given position expects the rest of the world to bow down and kiss their feet I certainly have no more respect for them regardless of whether or not they have any authority. I've needed and received police assistance before, I was always thankful and let the officers know it, but like I previously mentioned I'm glad to thank anyone who did their job which resulted my benefit. Heck I usually thank the minimum wage employees in the drive through that hand me my food, it's polite.3 points

I just flagged an ad on Armslist for overpriced .22 ammo and got the "the community has spoken, this ad has been rejected" message. Choke on it, reseller scum.2 points

Not bad for $38.50. Price on the Gold Bullets was $11.27 That's .05 per round. I was never a fan of the old GB's and I'm hoping they really are "New and improved. My local WM has removed the 3 box limit on everything but .22. The girl behind the counter tells me the hoarders and re-sellers are becoming less.2 points

I haven't read all of this. Too much bickering and whining. I just got home from vacation. On that vacation, the widow of a close friend spread his ashes over the mountains of East Tennessee. She is a young widow because her husband was doing his job to keep the people travelling through Jackson Mississippi safe. As he was putting a gas grill someone had dropped on the interstate into his cruiser, he was struck and killed by an inattentive driver. I will say this, there ain't a lot of a chance that I could get killed in a similar fashion doing my job. Though anything is possible. What I do have to say is a simple 'Thank You,' to anyone and everyone who does something to put someone else above themselves. No matter the profession.2 points

Well, all in all I am glad that I was able to get a lot of attention to my post anyway. It also enabled me to learn were many folks minds are. They are for the most part on two items with guns being one and a little blue pill for another................ :biglol: :biglol:2 points

I think far too many people over value themselves and their professions. Romans 12:3 A man who provides for his family and is content with the choice and agreements he has made doesn't need to pander for reinforcement, compliments, gratitude, or favor. Service only counts if it is selfless. Stuff like the above, while meant to be in thanks, demeans the server and the service. LE is a job. If they don't like the hours, pay, benefits, etc then they can choose to do something else just like any other job and that goes for any profession. When I hear this kinda of stuff that tries to makes any one sound like a saint and claim some noble service, I have to ask would they do it for free? That is true service. Thanks for a job well done, but no saint hood for taking a good paying job. Regardless of the job.2 points

My daughter has her own dog, my wife has her own, and I haven't really had my own "my dog" since I lost my pit bull Princess when I was a kid. She died from heartworms and it destroyed me! This little American Bulldog mix reminds me a lot of Princess minus the color scheme. I named him Roman and lemme tell ya, I LOVE him and he LOVES me! :) :) :) As you'll see, he loves to sleep right now at a tad over 5 weeks old. And he doesn't care if it's comfortable for me or not, I just have to deal with it LOL. Edit: The older he's gotten, I believe he's just a standard pit bull. Not really sure except for appearance on how to know for sure, but I am not going to get him tested, as it doesn't matter to me, I love him because he's my dog.1 point

Not gonna look for documentation, but it exists that navigable waterways are fine, same as a street or road. (there is also the blanket exception, admittedly gray, of being "incident to lawful hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, sport shooting or other lawful activity") Also documented somewhere that both TVA and COE have at least an informal policy of honoring permits at ramps/docks, even though some TVA parking areas at same are posted no guns. I think you can assure your own self just by the simple fact that you won't find any news of anyone being arrested for carrying handgun with permit in those situations. Open carry of course draws attention, and perhaps YMMV for being hassled doing that, couldn't say but know of no cases of an open carrier being arrested either. (IANAL, my legal opinion is worth what you paid for it) ;) - OS1 point

They DO care what number you use but they record what you put in 4g NOT 4h. Using the original serial number IS acceptable and is the norm, not the exception. But you can issue a new one if you so choose. Serial numbers are not unique. It's manuf, model, caliber and serial. I would not suggest duplicating serials for multiple guns that YOU make but as long as all 4 parts are not identical it will fly. Point being the serial number they'll place on the registry will come from what you put in 4g and what you put in 4g had better be on the gun. If you took original gun serial 1 and when you filed you put serial 234 in 4g, 234 had better be engraved on the gun. You could have made reference to serial 1 in 4h if you like. As far as honor, you can do what you'd like but I'd highly suggest you have an approved form 1 (copy is fine) with you when you shoot if you're carrying a NFA weapon. A little to your point, you can legally put a 16" barrel back on your gun and it is no longer a SBR. You can carry it interstate legally and shoot somewhere else. Come back home and reinstall your short barrel.1 point

Imagine if law enforcement turned into a hard line business with no compassion, enthusiasm, and was ran like a bank or business where policy and procedure is adhered to in a rigid manner? Kind of like banks, insurance companies and investment firms?? Imagine if an officer told someone sorry I don't do CPR for strangers. The law says I don't have to, or call us after you call every person you know before reporting your child missing because we don't respond to speculation. Ask a banker at a higher level to flex policy or procedure they'll laugh at u while taking a million a year home for a job their frat brother hooked em up with.when someone tells someone who works in public service o find another job that pays more money and move on I say fuck off. Most adults in public service enjoy helping others to a degree. Some help beyond their minimum expectations. That's the reward. Crap pay is a unwanted evil that goes with helping others for a living. unless of course you're one of those dirtbags that claims their with a public safety organization. They collect a million bucks over the phone and get to keep 2/3 of it to help the public servants that need financial aid. Most of us in mid tn know Lloyd Poteet, who does hire officers for security and other needs. Most in public service work second jobs because there is a desire to live and not just survive on the shit wages paid. Public service folks usually deserve a lot more than the pay at hand. Does that banker deserve a million a year for showing up to perform menial a tasks? Or does a complete stranger giving mouth to mouth res to a 6 mo old baby or 90 year old woman deserve it?? Everyone needs to earn a living but generally speaking le pay is Crap. Teacher pay is crap as other service jobs are agreed. I don't think any officers fireman or ps folks are looking for anything except a simple thanks once in a while and money at the end of the week. Was it the guy who was building those short barrel 870 pumps as Any Other Weapons? And...... To Get Back On Topic - - - THIS THREAD NEEDS A PICTURE!!!!! Here is my AK-74 with some of that evil 5.45X39 loaded up into those wicked 30 round mags that we have been talking about. This is one of the $399 "Truck Guns" that TGI was selling back in 2009 right after they got into a fix with the ATF over the import (by mistake) of some full auto AK flats. Got to love that Soviet "Plum" stock, forearm, and mag. I have found a matching grip since this photo was taken.1 point

Well your friend did the right thing by trading his Kimber for a Colt.If you ever get down my way shoot me a PM and we can meet at one of the indoor ranges and I'll bring the ammo and the 1911's I own and you can shoot any of them you want to. I apologize if I said anything out of the way but I've owned just about everything from Glocks to H&K's and sold everyone of them because I just prefer the 1911 platform, it works for me but might not work for others.1 point
On that note, why don't we thank the school nurse, or the janitor, or the dog catcher, etc.? They all work hard and provide someone a valuable service.
Hell yeah! I celebrate those folks who make very little but do much for our community. We have a great Animal Control in our community, with paid employees and volunteers who are compassionate and facilitate the adoption of neglected and abused animals. I love those people and my wife and I go out if our way with donations and foster assistance to help them make mission. Teachers? I love me some teachers. Doesn't pay much, but they do it anyway. There are some real heroes out there who spend a career in teaching making squat. Nurses, janitors, coal miners. Lotta jobs out there with folks that don't make much but deserve our respect. Sure, they do it to make a living, but those are jobs that service each of us and a job most of us aren't willing to do. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

Then don't do it. I will say though that the last deer I gutted was with a useless Frost knife. I kept it in my backpack as a backup. Good thing because I didn't have my good knife on my belt that day (Yeah, Murphy plays games with me :) ). It did a fine job, sharpened up nice and still rides as a backup in my backpack. The buck it cleaned didn't complain at all. I have no regrets for spending that $10. YMMV I will also say that I am not endorsing their quality. I know they are cheap, and you get what you pay for. I merely stated that the passage of this law makes me want to stop there (I pass their retail store everyday) and buy a big (over 4") cheap knife to keep in my truck (probably the toolbox).1 point

There are a heck of a lot more of us than there is of them. Pick your them. If we all had sense and stood up on our own hind legs with our courts and our legislatures and our properly chosen executives, we wouldn't have to put up with this crap and could return to a documented constitutionally ordered government once again.1 point

Reason number 2000 i'll will not visit that city, wont spend one dime there to support their economy. Pretty much the same reason I wouldn't have visited Paris during the Nazi occupation. If we ever elect a halfway decent real leader and the voters of DC kick out all the traitors to America, restore freedom like the founding fathers intended, then maybe i'll go. But as for right now, no way in hell will I step over the DC boundry.1 point

Not a thing wrong with being thankful for cops. Most of them put more thought into their career decision than the average 18 yr old who joins the military. Yet, we don't have a problem thanking the military for their service. So, why not thank cops and other civil servants who take life threatening jobs?1 point

Well luckily it seems the dog was wearing a standard collar. So even though the leash was being pulled it wasn't cutting off his airway completely. I'm sure it was uncomfortable and scary for the dog and owner, he seemed fine afterward. Seems the owners hand may have been injured worse. (Possibly dog bite) the video doesn't show.1 point

Meh, for the most part, using modern defense ammo an assailant who is shot with a 9mm is just as shot as one that is shot with a .40 or a .45 - and vice versa all over the place. If we were limited to ball ammo and expansion weren't a factor then I could see an argument for the 'bigger' .45 bullet being superior but we aren't, it is and I don't. It isn't like any of them are a .357 magnum :pleased: (sorry, couldn't resist.) Being that I believe 9mm to be just as potentially effective as .40 or .45 on any, given assailant (which means any of them might stop a threat with one shot or any of them might fail to stop a threat with several shots), I can't bring myself to accept that .45 ammo is worth two or three times the price of 9mm. With .40, ammo is more expensive than 9mm but not as expensive as .45. Further, if one were buying their first pistol I could see an argument for .40 in that so many LEAs have gone that direction, meaning ammo might be easier to come by at times. Beyond that, given that I don't think companies will stop making 9mm any time soon I don't see any reason to abandon the 9mm I already have in favor of a .40.1 point
