You might consider putting a narrow black band around it before you sew it on. That might make the intent more clear, but I don't see anything wrong with what you suggest.4 points

LOL, My goal is to have so many cool knives with our logo on them that it makes the Knife forums I belong to jealous, for a gun forum to do that would be quite impressive I would think4 points

From what I've seen in recent years, you probably get a better education through home schooling. At least someone cares about your education. You would, though, miss out on the liberal indoctrination that occurs in much of the public system. I know there are many public school teachers that do care about their students, and that's probably why they're teachers, but I still see a lot of young HS graduates without basic math and reading skills.3 points

Great Weekend !! A balding white haired man from Naples, Florida walked into a jewelry store this past Friday evening with a beautiful, much younger gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring. The man said, 'No, I'd like to see something more special.' At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. 'Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000, the jeweler said. The lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, 'We'll take it.' The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the man stated, 'By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds, and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon.' On Monday morning, the jeweler angrily phoned the old man and said: 'There's no money in that account.' 'I know,' said the old man…. 'But let me tell you about MY WEEKEND!!!'2 points

go with the metal. it will last longer. i grew up in a house with a tin roof. my dad grew up in the same house with the same roof. the house is still standing at the farm with the same roof. does not leak. the last time it had any paint on it was on 1970. so it does not look good now. it is rust color. i was up on it last week and it is still solid. so the metal roof over the old roof is the way to go. they got several colors now that will make your house look good. a there is nothing like sleeping in a house with a tin roof when it is raining.2 points

Of course, IANAL but I doubt very highly anyone makes an issue with it. Aside from the possibility that it is department property (and even then I would be willing to bet money they would approve wholeheartedly) I can't see it being any kind of legal issue unless you try using it in a manner that would lead a reasonable person to believe you were acting in a LE capacity. I think that's an excellent way to remember your friend. Sorry for your loss.2 points

Perhaps add an "In Memoriam" tab underneath so there is no doubt that you are not impersonating an officer.2 points

Channel 5 News Investigates did a report about this sometime back and did some interviewing with some of the street corner beggars and I was shocked t see how honest most of them were. They spoke with a couple guys that actually admitted that they make more money per day just asking for money than many people do working an 8 hours day. There was a few of them that have made it their life work and have developed a system of rotating locations so same people don't see them everyday. They move around to a select set of street corners by riding the city bus and when asked where they sleep and eat they say, the Mission or one of the homeless shelters. 3 different guys admitted they can make as much as 150.00 to 200.00 a day. i had to laugh at one guy that I use to see on a street corner. He would hold a sign that said Vietnam vet, please help. I finally asked him one day how he was doing and he said I don't do well at all and don't know why. I said let me help you out. Find some new cardboard and make you a new sign that says Desert Storm Vet needs help. He said why would that help and I told him because son, you were not even born when the Vietnam war was going on so how can you be a Vet from it. He looked at me and said gosh sir thanks and he walked away. I figure if he is going to make a living bumming he should at least be good at it..... :2cents:2 points

I would go with metal if possible. When i shop for anything involving a warranty, I buy the one with the longest warranty, not for the warranty but it will likely be built better, no manufacturer wants warranty claims.2 points

I see very little difference between this and someone on a bicycle. They're both road hazards. Just the other day, in downtown Nashville, I was on Broadway turning left onto 12th Avenue (by the McDonalds), and out of the corner of my left eye, I saw an IDIOT on a very expensive bike (in full biking regalia) who was passing between me and the car waiting at the light on 12th. He almost got his clock cleaned, and I sat down on the horn. No acknowledgement that he had done anything wrong. I had my window down and when he turned left on the next street, I let him know what I thought about it. Flippin' moron.2 points

I bought a air soft pistol for my daughter last year to teach her the firearms fundamentals. She liked it and did well with the safety concerns so I picked her up a SR22 this week off Arms List. The first shot was dead center from 15 ft. You could not wipe the smile off her face. After the first mag. she said " wow that was fun" we spent the next half hour working on stance and the trigger reset. She is hooked.1 point

Back when i operated my automotive repair center i could care less about an applicants education per 12 years of education. My only concerns was is the person honest with no criminal record and does he have experience hands on Auto repair training and how many years. I can think of two times in my 35 years of operating a business that I knew i had hired a person with little schooling in book learning but both of them were great mechanics and I never regretted hiring either of them. I did regret losing them as their lives changed and they moved on. I was never one to care about who they knew but what they knew was very important and in many cases what they didn't know I would teach them..................jmho1 point

When I was in high school (graduated in 2008), we were taught to take and pass tests. Most of the homework was nothing but exercises focusing on test material. Teacher's curriculums were based on standards, if I recall correctly: set by the government. I think this all started when I was in middle school, and became more and more severe every year. By senior year, school was a joke. When I was in college, this wasn't as much of an issue. The bigger issue was the teachers that would push an agenda on you. This wasn't as big of a deal for me, because a good chunk of my classes were online. In the classroom it was more apparent. Some legitimate questions I had posed to some professors was met with redicule rather than any serious consideration of answering said question. Another problem with college was the lack of meaningful application: more what and how, but seldom why. I quit college with an A.A.S., and I was four classes shy of a bachelors. But after putting up with all the bs involved in getting a degree, I just didn't see the value anymore. College is nothing but a business these days. The school system is nothing but sham, too. I don't care that people see me as a selfish nihilistic bastard for my views on formal education. I just think the fact that so few people see through the B.S. that comprises formal education today, that participation in society is almost disheartening. Yeah, there is a tiny chance that I "could" have gotten a subjectively "better" job if I stuck out four more classes... but that is so superficial to me, it's maddening. But for some reason, I wouldn't take the choice of going to college back. I feel like if I didn't experienfe all of that tomfoolery first hand, I'd still be a sheep that thinks the government and corporations only have people's best interest, like I was taugh in k-12. I'd probably still believe everything reported on the news was true and not manufactured. I'd probably still be walking around with blinders on as it seems so many Americans do. My entire world view and philisophical views have devoloped far beyond what I ever cared for. Some people think I'm crazy, and that makes me smile. Some people think I'm a total asshole, and that too makes me smile. I just don't see how home schooling could be any worse. Wow...that escalated quickly...sorry to anyone who wasted two minutes of their life reading that.1 point

I think the key to metal roofing is to ensure you have enough screws, especially around the edges. And then use the correct screws that have gaskets without over tightening the screws. My wife and I installed our own roof over the course of a few days. It wasn't easy but it wasn't that difficult either. The only time we have had a leak is when we hired a contractor to add an addition to our house. That area leaked like a sieve 2-3 times until they got it fixed.1 point

Well, lets see. Last time I was asked to provide proof of my high school education by providing a diploma I told the potential employer that I had not seen my diploma since about a day after I receive it. I hung it on the wall of my parents home and while I was in the military they sold our ranch and moved twice during the time I was out of the country and you are the first company that has requested to actually see a copy of my diploma. The man said no diploma no job. I said ok and I went to the high school I graduated from in 1966 to get a copy of my diploma. Guess what? The school I went to is no longer a high school but a middle school and I am told that all the records of graduates from William James High School had been relocated to the Dickson County High School. I drive to the Dickson County High School and ask them for a copy of my diploma. Guess what? They cannot find a record of me ever attending Dickson County School. I explain to them that back then it was White Bluff High School and school name was William James High School. Back when they began re arranging all of the school systems and making all these stupid school levels like Grammar, middle, Jr High and High Schools all the records from all the schools in the existing schools were moved to the main county High school for safe keeping and now they tell me they can't find a record of me attending a Dickson county High School or graduating and I said well , lets see if you can find my diploma for my lawyer. I also learned that every person in my graduating class was having the same problem and none had a copy of their diploma because they didn't want to fight them. Well I love a good fight, especially when I can show a county just how stupid they are about their record keeping and the future of many peoples lives. My Lawyer contacted the Dickson county School Board by way of a written request demanding that the Dickson County School system produce a copy of my Diploma and all of my school grades and records. He gave them 10 days. The 10 days came and went with no reply. I guess they thought I was going to go away like the others did that asked for theirs did. Nope , my lawyers next move was to get a court order served on the Dickson County School Board Superintendent to provide me with a copy of my diploma and the judge only gave them 10 days also. We ended up in Court about a month later and they said they told the court that they had no records of my ever attending a Dickson County High School And the judge ask them if they could provide proof I did not attend a Dickson County High School? And they said if they have no record of my attending a Dickson County High school that should be proof enough. The judge did not accept that and he then requested that the Dickson County School board provide any and all records of the William James High School of White Bluff Tennessee since they are now the operators of said school in a middle school level. They ask for time and the judge gave the 30 days. In 30 days they came back to court and their attorney had to admit that the Dickson County School Board had either misplaced or destroyed all of the records from William James High School during the transition of the county's school reorganization program. The judge calmly looked at the attorney and said you and your school system have lost or misplaced the papers and records that could effect the outcome of hundreds or maybe thousands of High school graduates futures. Sir, that is unacceptable. He said this cases is in recess for 2 hours in which I will make a decision as to what course of action the court will take on this issue. (Now remember this all began because 1 guy at 1 company said he would not employ me as a mechanic without a diploma) Back in court the judge had made his decision. He issued a court order demanding that from that date with was April 10th 1976 to the year 2025 the Dickson County School System is required by law to provide to any applicant requesting a copy of their diploma that attending the William James High School between the years of 1950 and 1980 a Dickson County High School Graduation Diploma. 1980 was when all of the records from William James High School were transferred to the protection of the Dickson County School system for safe keeping during the school reorganization. I found out later that three of my class mates actually sued the Dickson County School System for money due to the damage they had experienced because they had been denied entry into higher education programs because they could not provide the grade point averages required to enter the college to further their educations once they learned they could receive diplomas. Yea, I admit it, I'm a trouble maker............ :stir: :stir:1 point

A lot of 'charities' take subsidies from the government. Guess where the government gets the money for those subsidies? That's right, us! The problem I have with that is that I don't have a choice as to how much I give or where it goes. In my perfect world, the government would hand out zero subsidies and I could keep my money to give as I see fit. That's how it should be. Taking taxpayer money just to redistribute it, in my mind, leaves less money in the hands of citizens who could and would otherwise use it for good things, like stimulating the economy or giving to charities. Plus, if the charities knew they had to work harder to get citizen's money instead of from the government, maybe they would use it more efficiently.1 point

If you have any reason to believe someone is already in your house (in which case you failed to have adequate security measures in place), you immediately get yourself and any loved ones to the safest place possible (such as a barricaded locked room behind proper cover), and then arm any adults that are properly trained / equipped, and then call 911. Inform them of your address, describe the situation (including location / description of all family members, and who is armed), and you wait on the phone while guarding your safe room entrance(s). You don't go searching the house looking for trouble, and you don't leave family members unprotected. You also don't go outside or move through the house unless you can establish it is safe to do so, as additional or unknown threats may be waiting. If a threat emerges or advances near your safe room, you call out loudly that you are armed and will shoot to defend yourself if needed, ordering them to leave immediately, and that police are on the way. If the threat persists or escalates then you do only what is necessary to defend your lives, not to protect property or chase them out or advance on them or capture them.1 point

Be very careful if you decide to carry without a round chambered... If you do a press check to make sure there's no round it WILL effect the feeding on the next round in your mag. I've tried this at the range a couple of times. It did repeatedly fail to chamber a round after a press check. Had to drop the mag and let the round fall out.1 point

Have you tried out a Beretta Cougar (now marketed & built in Beretta's Stoeger faciltiy in Turkey)? IMO they have better ergonomics than the 92 models & are more fun to shoot. They're still a metal gun with some heft, but are a bit more compact with slighty smaller grips. They're also available in 9mm, 357sig, .40 & .45 acp. 92FS & Beretta Cougar 8000 (9mm)1 point
