That is a fair price. Glad you found a good deal. They seem to be fewer and fewer these days. Unfortunately I hold a grudge for a long time. As far as I'm concerned Dick's can choke on themselves.4 points

I have had the TGO lower sitting in the safe look at me every time I open the safe. I was at the show this weekend and found a builder there that built me a pistol upper for $275 otd. So I figured it was time to use the lower. I headed to another vendor that had complete blemished pistol tube and buffer for $20. I did not pick up a LPK because I figured I could find one for the same price at a LGS. I was running out of time so I passed on that and went home. I had some free time so I went to my new favorite shop and picked up a RRA LPK. I got home and was a little tenitive to start on it because I had 4 kids to take care of and I usually only have 15ish mins before the Screams of daddy start. This was my first ever lower assembly, I figured it would take me longer my first time. I started by following a write up on how to assembly it, before I knew it I was done! I did learn 2 things: 1 take off rings before starting. 2. ARs are insanely easy to build! I can't wait to start the next one. I will have pics up in the next day or so.3 points

Picked this up a while back and forgot to show it off. It reminded me of the 9mm my father carried as a police officer, so I bought it. It fits perfectly in my hand and has a nice weight to it. I still need to hit the range to try it out....but here it is: I added the grip since I have larger hands and it feels perfect. Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee3 points

The problem is additional cost of buying commercially available targets. Commercially sold "tannerite" is ~$5 a pound while the components to make your own is well under $1 per pound. Last time I bought some AN, which was about 4 years ago, it cost me $17 for 50 pounds. The aluminum powder is $5 per pound. So for $12 you can make 20 pounds of exploding targets. That same 20 pounds is $170 through a popular retailer. Another HUGE problem I have is the unnecessary regulation of things that should not be regulated at all. If I can legally own the firearm to shoot the exploding target then the target itself should not be a problem. No matter how heavily they regulate it, or how illegal they make it, as long as it is used as fertilizer it can get into the hands of those who are going to do harm using it. It is perfectly legal to make your own explosives, regardless of what the ingredients are, so until it is proven that I should not be allowed to buy it then I should be allowed to buy what I want and in whatever amount I can afford. I am tired of legislators, and lawmakers, deciding the best way to protect myself from myself. These are the same people who tell me what I can't have yet demand that they are allowed to have the same items I can't. There are all kinds of things that are regulated that should not be in any way shape or form. I should be allowed to ingest anything I want in my own home yet those who control us only allow us to have the freedoms they give us permission to have. Our freedoms are being taken away daily in the name of protecting people from themselves and this is just another instance of taking yet another freedom from a law abiding citizen. BTW, if they made the sale of AN illegal to the general public the criminals intent on using it will still be able to steal it or obtain it legally with a few, easy to obtain, licenses. I would like to hear about the last time "Tannerite" type of explosives were used in the commission of a crime. I am not talking about those who were arrested for exploding a target deemed "too large" by LE either.3 points

With a broken face/eye socket and being winded from H2H just seconds prior, I'd say that even if he fired 15 rounds with only 6 hits we shouldn't judge.3 points

Dave, In my first post I said "I don't think the office did anything wrong". Why is that hard for you guys to understand? I even went on to say that the department many not even issue tasers since they can't even afford dashcams. You guys coming after me makes about as much sense as the NRA attacking the GOA. We're in the same boat here.2 points

Good news guys, I shot the company owner an email and said there were a bunch of people bummed out over missing the deal so he put another one up today! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G6I14Y6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407900948&sr=1-1&keywords=hot+wing+sauce "DOLLAR30" is the code for the next 100 people. Same deal, knocks price down to $12 points

Ok guys, good news, bad news. Today I brought the pup back into work with the idea that we could go to the humane society during lunch. I put her outside in our closed lot this morning to do her business while I took care if some things and she bolted. Apparently our gate has just enough give that she was able to squeeze through. Not good. So I went off in search down the alley and sure as day come across her back in her real yard being pet by her owners looking happier than a pig in waste. They were scolding her when I came up, but she looked ok and want shying away at all from them. I yelled through the fence and asked if it was their dog which they confirmed, a very quick look around showed a huge gap in their fence which I pointed out to them and they thanked me for taking her in when I explained the situation. I was concerned about the gap because it was fairly large and clearly not a dug hole. A few hours later there was a young man outside doing what looked to be some manual labor around the area, hopefully fixing the hole. So there we are. Based in how quickly she adjusted from 'kicked dog' to total ham, her ability to walk well on a leash, and the fact that she was apparently house trained as she had no accidents here, plus seeing her with the owners makes me rethink a few things. She's young, outside on her own, and a large hairy man was trying to entice her inside with 1/2 a cheeseburger (what I had on hand, not my idea of "dog food") maybe she was just legitimately nervous. I don't know. One good thing, I know where she lives. Right behind and a few houses down from work. Doing a few welfare checks a week won't be hard. Under the right circumstances, I'm not above a dog napping, but for now I'm going to call this a hopefully happy ending. If and when there is a next time I see her on the street, there will be absolutely no hesitation, I'm grabbing her and taking her to the humane society. I am going back to the house tomorrow to suggest they chip their dog and get tags made. We'll see how that goes I guess. Thanks all for all the advice, I really appreciate you guys helping me out on this. Hopefully I can still feel good about the outcome as things move forward. As much as I'm nervous that this may not be the right call, she looked happy to see her people and they looked happy to see her. I'd feel like a real monkeydick if I deprived someone of their pet, regardless of whether or not I think she needs more baths. I'm crossing my fingers that this all works out ok for the pup, she deserves to be happy.2 points

Am I the only one who noticed that the S&W model 19 was the best all around gun in its day, and now the Glock model 19 is the best all around gun in its day? Something about that model 19, no mattet who makes it2 points
All in all, excellent considering a broken face. Better than I would have done, and probably better than most cops too.
This. A thousand times this. If what I've heard is correct, he had a broken eye orbit. I've actually had an orbital fracture, and I can promise you that immediately after it happened I was in no shape to put rounds on target.2 points

Umm, sorry, I wasn't aware he hit any bystanders. On another note, when you get in a shoutout and you're in fear for your life you can start judging folks on their marksmanship. I've been in a lot of gun fights. One in particular was very close. Not every round hit the intended target. Things are different than when you're shooting at paper in a controlled environment. Then again, what do I know. You armchair quarterbacks know everything and are the most awesome shooters ever.2 points

Yeah, I can't wait to see what he weighs, mainly because my wife said "Ohhhh he's only gonna be about 40-45 lbs max". I bet her that he would be 60-70, but my age is showing and I can't remember what I bet her LMAO! I know she would have died in a day or two had they not seen her. She was so scrawny, scared, and helpless. Trust me when I say, we did not need or want another dog, but we love her and glad to have her here with us!2 points

To the OP, my wife and I have gone through this several times. Over the past 8 years we scooped up at least 20 stray dogs. Some of them we were able to find the owner simply by keeping an eye on the classifieds (craigslist). We also register them at animal control in case the owner looks there. Of course, we've come across several dogs that had obviously been neglected. The last one like that I decided would not go back to the owner. The compromise was that we did register him to be adopted through the human society, and he found a wonderful family. The previous owners did not deserve this dog. I will say, I've had several strays that had kicked dog syndrome when taking them in, almost to where I felt they might not be adoptable. There was one in particular, a pit bull mix, who was so skiddish I couldn't get him to eat for almost two days. Once he warmed up he was an amazing dog. So affectionate and happy. It's like he understood. We found a great home for him out in Cadiz with a lovely older couple. I would recommend registering this dog with the humane society and foster her until they find a new home, if you can. Otherwise, put her up on craigslist or a local classified and SCREEN potential families. Don't be afraid to say no to scuzzy people. I've adopted out a whole buncha dogs this way. Some times it takes a little while, but it's better than knowing they're gonna be out to sleep.2 points

The G19 is about the perfect carry gun. I have my 23 with me today, which is the same thing in 40. Thought about carrying my 19 some, but the 23 is always out of the safe and easy to grab. If I only had one Glock, it would be a 192 points

This is a case of getting all the justice you can afford. The Judge that denied her pre-trial diversion is the same Judge that approved it for Ray Rice after he knocked his wife unconscious and dragged her into an elevator; he was charged with aggravated assault. Let’s review… no intent, no violence= no pretrial diversion; Intent, violence= pretrial diversion. So what’s the difference? Money. I’m sure the Baltimore Ravens could afford a better attorney. The entire black community is up in arms and protesting because a cop shot a criminal that had just robbed a store and assaulted the owner, while this poor woman is being railroaded by the system. Our society is truly is bad shape.2 points

About "remembering being mis-treated" (way to calm things down) I remember dropping my car off at a tire store late one night because I had hit something in the road - tire was wooshing air out, and I didn't want to drive home only to have to put the spare on the next morning to get it to a tire store. Needless to say, as I was looking for a key drop - and getting my stuff out of my car, I was visited by 5-8 of Nashville's finest - including cujo. cuffed, searched, talked to like I was a class A lowlife felon. I was treated like a criminal. It was humiliating, demeaning, etc. ... I'm pretty confident it had nothing to do with the color of my skin, and I also do not think that anyone of any color could've been treated much more roughly while being so ridiculously innocent and pure in their actions. I got over it,... and I still laugh about my buddy picking my up... after me being cuffed, hands jacked up behind my back and pushed forward until I was perpetually about to fall over onto cujo... - held like this for a long time... after all of this, my buddy swings in to the parking lot, hops out of the car and loudly asks (with all of the officers right there), "Man, ... what did you do this time?" ..."shut up and get back in the car."1 point

That happened Tuesday and they hadn't "added" that to their demonstrations/riots yet. Is this the first day the video came out? That might spark something but it's been 2 days after that confrontation. From the artical: Well he got what he asked for, literally. So what would any of us do in that situation? A crazy man pulling out a knife, walking towards you and telling you to shoot him knowing you have a gun? If the testimony is true that Michael Brown charged officer Darren Wilson, knowing Wilson had his gun drawn then there's another factor to consider, anyone not scared of a gun and comes at you anyway will kill you if he gets to you. That type of "I don't give a crap" mentality makes someone much more dangerous. That's just my opinion though but I think it makes sense, at least to me. By the way, someone comes at me with a knife and is close enough, I plan on shooting at their torso until they fall down.1 point

I have been in a few cases over the years were I exchanged gun fire with another person or two and when you have in coming all you can do in return is send out going in hopes that you strike your target before they strike theirs in some cases and yea, you do have a few rounds in that type of situation that may go astray but when you fighting for your life that is the farthest thought from your mind unless you do have enough time to get a look at what may be behind the person trying to kill you. At that point you might and I say might change or alter your technique and maybe you won't. #1 is you and or your family.................jmho1 point

Peace... Remington 700 action when ya start this... I would look for an older sporter in the meantime... Tou will need a long action (...30-06...) size to shoot that far... Remington 700s have been around a long time and there is lots of used stuff floatin around... There are more custom parts for the 700 than all the other rifle actions combined... leroy1 point

There is only one thing that beats a Glock 19: a Glock 23 with a 9mm barrel. If I were buying a Glock 19 I would find a used one with a serial number lower than a M-prefix unless I was able to buy a new one under the Blue Label Program for $450 new OTD.1 point

For me it's been mostly subsonic that's held my interest. Having a can in limbo I've been stocking up. Some of the hyper-super-velocitie stuff has been fun too. I bought some Eley Match awhile back and feel bad about it. I'll feel bad shooting it, I'd feel bad selling it, for over a year now it's been a little 50 round, $20.00 paperweight. one day I'll buck up, load two AR22 magazines and go through $20 of 22lr in 45 seconds. That'll be fun.1 point

They're cool little rifles. They're light, it folds, handy, reasonably accurate (easy 3-4" groups unsupported standing at 25-30 yards), it folds, ammo/mags are cheap and easy to get, it folds, and a lot of fun to shoot too. I got mine just as the panic was peaking, I got mine for MSRP from a good shop. I wouldn't spend the $600+ some are asking, it's not a $600 gun IMO. If you find one with lots of extra mags then that's different of course. I'd be patient and grab one when the price is right, your not missing all that much that any good PCC can't do except for fold in half.1 point

The video is misleading, but not wrong. It does instruct one to hand over the permit with your license, but it does not say you are required to do so. I can see why you have your question though. Some states require you to inform the officer at first contact if you possess a weapon, but not TN. In most cases it is probably a good idea to do so, but it is your option in TN.1 point

Fair enough, Omega. I do a lot of hunting in Africa so I tend to lean towards heavier calibers. The .270 has a great reputation, and I didn't realize it'd throw a 170gr bullet.... that puts it right up there with my .308. Still, I'm a big fan of 300gr bullets moving at 2700 fps out of a .375 H&H. Most animals drop to the shot... I'm getting old and tracking blood over hill and dale isn't as fun as it used to be. I like to hit em hard!1 point

He doesn't mind it, but he has the "Look! Squirrel!" mentality. So I enjoy the minute or so of cuddling while I can before he sees his brothers or my daughter and jumps down. A neighborhood cat hangs out on our front porch a lot, and he and Roman have become buds. When Roman started getting bigger, I hoped I wasn't going to go out one day and find him whooping that cat (or vise versa). But to this day, we will walk out and they are laying beside each other in the grass like they are getting sun tans  See?1 point

I can agree with part of what you stated but the last line, "we let them search and we deal with whatever comes" ? You have fun with that. I'm not saying that I'm running if someone comes to the door but that is not open ended. If I ever feel like I am about to be wrongfully detained and that unless I scoot things will get much worse then I'm outta here. Maybe our whole system isn't to the point of corruption that you described but having personally witnessed an officer stick a bag of dope in a handcuffed mans shirt pocket then pull it back out declaring what he'd just found, you must understand where my skeptisim comes from. Would the guy I speak of been just as well to have run? Maybe. I only point this out to make the point that there are situations that might warrant taking your chances. Also, I'm pretty sure when the others above questioned the constitutionality of the search it was based more on their doubt that the warrant should have ever been issued.1 point
