Saw this coming from a mile way. Was planning on placing my resignation on Thursday to give them two weeks to hire a semi decent replacement. Well they beat me to the punch. Where not too happy when I outline the faults with the management and the awful record of employment selection. But now they have their wish with getting rid of the last original. Good thing I have another opportunity lined up, and am grateful for it. But I cannot wait to walk in there tomorrow, drop off my shirts and walk out with my binder full of sales leads and plans. And when they ask me "whats in there and what are you taking", I will tell new the "manager" my sales and customers that will not be going to your store. Oddly enough. I feel great. I never said no, covered shifts at locations that where over 100 miles round trip and havent had a vacation in three years. Hell, I will go shooting tomorrow to celebrate. And enjoy my last day of fall break.2 points

Indeed. Burning bridges is rarely a good idea. Going out of your way to be a dick isn't exactly classy, especially to your Grandma. :o Amen. I'm making sure my parents get their SS check. They money they paid in was pissed away a long time ago. I have no expectation of SS or Medicare if/when the day comes I can afford to stop working.2 points

The idea that the money you contribute to SS or the unemployment system goes into an account just for you is entirely false. The money you and I are forced to pay into the system is being used to pay benefits to current recipients, and massive amounts of beuracratic overhead. The money current recipients paid in was squandered long ago, and they should've been keeping a better watch on their elected representatives at that time to fix the damage before it got to this point. The government has no business in the retirement planning industry; if for no other reason than as we can all see they're pretty terrible at it. Stealing from one to give to another is wrong, even if the recipient was at one point robbed themselves. As for it being easy to save of you're not paying taxes or scamming the system, I'm sure it is. That has nothing to do with folks who are playing by the rules but not saving money. That's nobody's fault but their own.2 points

Thanks for your reply. After posting this I did some more research and found this: From 1879 to 1884 Winchester bought breech loading double barrel hammer shotguns from a number of English Gun makers. These shotguns were imported, marked and sold by Winchester through a store maintained by Winchester in New York City. These shotguns were chambered in 10 and 12 gauge, and advertised and marked as "Match Gun", "Class A", "B", "C" and "D". The total of all types sold was approximately 10,000. The English Gun makers were W.C. Scott & Sons, Richard Rodman, C.G. Bonehill and W.C. McEntree.2 points

As far back as '04, I was amazed at the number of Japanese that flew in to the Bardstown Bourbon Festival! No telling the Japan market growth in the last 10 years! On that trip we toured the Buffalo Trace distillery. Our tour guide slipped us a couple of "Japanese Market Only" gold plated Blanton's stoppers. They must pay a heck of a premium to merit such fancy Blanton's stoppers! The value of gold since then may have stopped this Japan perk? Japan stopper on the right. Sure enjoy your posts Mike.357!1 point

The issue is from the top down in fast food places. Look at Chick-fil-a or In-a-out burger where from the very top they stress good customer service. But both places seem to hire a better class of people too.1 point

I have them for my G19 & G17. They are great for shooting lead bullets. But they have much tighter tolerances than the OEM barrels. Not all factory ammo will seat in them...Golden Saber comes to mind. So...for reliability's sake...try and match your ammo to the barrel with any aftermarket unit. I personally would not use them for self defense. Glock OEM barrels are made to work...LW are fine for plinking. :2cents:1 point

If SS were like other social programs where the gov. steals money from you to give to others with zero chance of you ever seeing a dime of it again unless you get yourself in bad financial shape, I would agree with you. But it's not, the gov. steals our money with the promise that they will be good stewards and return that money in payments after reaching a certain age. Unless you are some sort of minister or one of the other few exceptions, you have NO choice, we're forced to pay into the savings/retirement program and would be swept off to jail quickly if caught not paying in so to belittle anyone wishing to receive their forced savings seems like BS to me. The only way to keep the program in any sort of "good" health is to move the age of eligibility back a handful of years or so but I don't think I'm okay with that. I'm thinking that my generation is going to need to be the generations that "took it on the chin" in order to spare our children and grandchildren from the madness and theft that is SS. If we keep paying out at the same rate that SS has always been paid then it will bankrupt SS. My plan only works if my generation lets them bankrupt the SS system and then refuses to allow them to start over. If we don't do both of those things then we're dooming our children and grandchildren to be bullied and stolen from the same as we have been. Like Mike, I'd gladly refuse any and all SS benefits if they would return all monies paid in to date so that I could invest on my own but where I differ I think is that I would be willing to keep paying into SS as it is bankrupted so long as I knew that once it crumbled, it would stay crumbled.1 point

Would someone please explain why anyone would shop at a pawn shop, for guns or anything else? I have been to several dozen of all different sizes and in numerous cities / states. Every single one had almost nothing but used stuff that was in terrible condition, and every item was priced at or even above the cost of the same thing brand new from a traditional retailer. At first I assumed it was just a starting price for negotiations, but on at least 6 times that I attempted to negotiate the clerks indicated their prices were firm and they looked at me like I was crazy. In at least 3 of the shops I tried to reason "but your item is used and worn, and look at this on my phone showing the same thing brand new for less at another store"... only to have the clerks say "but you are not in a retail store, this is a pawn shop" as if that somehow explained why I should pay more. I understand how they take advantage of people that need cash quick, or that want a loan with bad credit, and if those customers know what they are giving up due to their desperation then it's their business. But for the pawn shop to then attempt to sell overpriced junk to cash-rich customers that know better is crazy. So I've always assumed it must be those same ignorant or desperate customers paying top dollar for junk, likely funded by trading away what little of value they have left. I just can't see how else these shops stay in business. Sure, I hear the occasional stories of how someone scored a mint unfired WWII german luger complete with the dead nazi officer still attached for only $127 at their local pawn shop, but I've yet to ever see or get a single deal myself, and I do keep looking once in awhile. The closest I have come to a deal lately is Kwik Kash Pawn in Lebanon where they do transfers for $15.1 point

I'm fine with them shutting down SS if they give me my money back. That money was taken from me, not as tax revenue, but as a "forced" savings plan. I don't give a rat's ass that they squandered the money. It wasn't their money. And, how the hell can somebody be a leach when they are living off their OWN money? If the government had followed your advice, there wouldn't be a problem with SS because they would never have tapped the damn fund. They don't get to go back on the deal now.1 point

funny story. (and a bit off topic). i worked for berry's for several years. this was 15-20 years ago. at that time i was in my mid twenties, and was given dave's book by my father. i had no debt, but my dad thought it was a good read so i read it. several months later dave spoke at our church. i had the opportunity to have lunch with him afterward (my father was the pastor) and asked why he didn't mention pawn shops as a good way to save money on purchased items. his response was that he had never met a pawn broker that he trusted. i mentioned berry's to him and told him that i thought they would advertise if he would allow them to. the retail business of the pawn shop increased substantially with that advertising. pretty cool (at least i think so). now back to your regularly scheduled programming.1 point

A bit of a drive also but the one in Athens can do it and I've never had to wait more than 15 mins sitting in a chair. When my wife did hers they did all the paper work and out the door in ten minutes with a number to call and a address for prints. I called the number in the parking lot and drove about five minutes down the road and she did the prints.1 point

If you're working full time and unable to save, you're not living within your means. Sorry. I agree, we should help folks who fall on though times; when we choose to, and not through the government. The .gov stealing my money through the tax system to give it to someone else is not helping the less fortunate, it is theft. Help should be (and is) available to people through a large variety of charities that rely on voluntary donations from people, and a lot of those donations would be a lot larger if we weren't already forced to 'give' to the less fortunate by way of government thuggery. By my logic, folks on SS are leaches because they depend on the government to retire. Yes. That is correct. I'm sorry you chose not to save money or decided to quit working at 60 years old, but it's not my job/ duty/ obligation to support you for a decision you made just like I didn't expect anyone to come swooping to my rescue when I quit my job. I really wouldn't feel bad at all if the government stopped sending out checks to everyone other than employees who actually show up and work tomorrow; and those employees should get nervous because a large portion of the beuracracy would be unnecessary with no more entitlement programs. "Oh, but what about the so-and-so group who depend on those checks?" Private charities will fill the gap. Will it ever happen? Nope. Not a chance. Too many people are too comfortable with big daddy government there to hold their hand, or they get scared when they see the hard times that will have to come before things can be fixed. We'll never see the US Federal government shrink down anywhere near what it truly should be, but just because it won't happen doesn't mean that it shouldn't.1 point

Any 38 or 357 can be modified to take moon clips, some Performance Center S&W's come like that. I can kinda see the caliber consolidation but not really a factor to me. Maybe more of a factor to LE depts, etc. Able to issue single ammo for duty sidearms and backup. Im also betting that if you compare the two, (.38spl+P and 9mm+P) with similar weight bullets both out of a revolver with a 2" barrel, that velocity will be very close.1 point

It was a trap, he knew if you came back in that door he could very easily had you arrested on bull#### charges while smiling the entire time and the simpleton workers there would have backed him up. There was a reason he kept pushing you to come inside, if he really wanted to fight he could have came outside but he was "protected" inside. The way to have done if you just had to go in was to calmly ask for him with your phone recording in your hand and let him dig his grave but never once do anything but stand there and smile. But plain and simple, tough boy was laying a trap for you.1 point

I read it! One of THE best books I have ever read on World War II. Imagine being a man who considered being a Lutheran minister but decided to fly for German Airlines. Then you realize that the German Airlines was the Luftwaffe. Franz Stigler was an excellent pilot with 17 kills (real kills) but when he came upon a B-17 shot up so bad that he could see through the plane from the bullet and cannon holes. The B-17 was running on 3 engines accept one would catch fire and they would have to shut it down to "cool off". Stigler had a full load of ammo and could have sent the B-17 down easily. Most of the crew was dead or wounded. He then remembered what he was taught in flight school. "Whatever you do in this war, you will have to answer to a Higher Call" .......................what a great read!1 point

Do me a favor and keep me posted on how the crossbow hunting goes (range, effectiveness, etc). The reason for my curiousity is, I'm trying to think through some things but im thinking about trying to set up hunting opportunities for disabled vets. It would be a lot of work because I'd have to prep a lot of property in order to have enough locations that I could give as many opportunities as I'd like to. I've got plenty of people that would be willing to go out on the hunts with them if there were enough interest to need to be multiple places at once. I'm trying to think through all possible disabilities so that I can make provisions and not have to turn anyone away. I'm not sure that I could even get everything ready in time for next season due to the costs and labor involved. Maybe I can get at least enough done by next season to be able to take 5-6 guys out just to give it a trial run. I'm sure a standard compound bow would be out of the question for some of these guys hence the interest in the crossbow.1 point

Yep, remember there was another episode (in Season 4 I think... or maybe 3?) where Carl and Rick had a run-in/meeting with him. He was in that town all by himself, and recounted how he didn't have the nads to pop his walker/wife, which ended up causing the death of his son. And yea, Jericho was awesome, and he was great in that, too. I keep trying to get other folks to watch that series. It's all on Netflix now.1 point

Just teach your children that political correctness is for politicians only and not to be used by anyone out side of Government and when their teachers at school try to teach it have your child ask them if they are a teacher or a politician? I only have one grandson left in school and this is the truth. He is now in third grade and his teacher began talking about something the President said about how the people needed to learn more about other peoples origins and learn to accept other nationalities without prejudice. I could not believe that my grandson raised his hand and when the teacher called on him he stood up and asked her if she was a politician because she sounded like one. She sent him to the office and his parents were. First mistake was sending him to office instead of answering his question and second mistake was calling my son and his wife to the school. The principal spoke to his parents first and told them what question he asked the teacher. My son asked the principal what the teacher was discussing that made him ask the question. When the principal told him my son said that he was not going to apologize for his sons question because the teacher was trying to teach children what the Government is trying to brainwash children into believing it is right in it's immigration polices are and that he did not believe they were right either. The Principal said he was going to send my grandson home 3 days for being disrespectful to the teacher and my son said that's fine and you can explain your teaching practices to News Channel 5 Investigates and any other news networks he could get to come out. Needless to say the principal left the room and was gone for about 10 minutes and when he came back in his office he sad the issue had been resolved and my grandson was going back to class. That was about a month ago and their has been no more issues about it and his report card he got a B grade for that grade period in that class. I told my son not to let them teach him the PC BS and since my grandson has a very high IQ and he knows PC BS when he hears it. If not he will do like he did that day and raise his hand and ask questions. There are a few teachers that have been replaced in his school and it was because of their teaching beliefs and teaching formats from what has been learned by parents...... :cheers:1 point
