Pardon my rudeness, but what I do or do not carry or leave in my vehicle is none of anyone's business but me and my wife.7 points
-
I don't "keep" anything in my vehicle. That never seemed like a smart idea to me. I have a gun in my vehicle when I'm in it, but it leaves WITH me when I leave it.6 points

I still don't get that. My gun is outside my house, in my car, yards and yards away from me. How exactly does that prepare ME? It prepares the sumbitch breaking into my vehicle FOR me... but it ain't preparing me for anything out there. And if I'm incapable of remembering to take a gun with me when I leave the house (Oh, crap, I forgot it again. Oh, well, I have this one in here anyway, so I'm good), that's not much of a level of "preparedness."4 points

Perhaps for folks who live in an apartment complex. My driveway is monitored by a camera and very well lit. I suppose someone might break into it, but I certainly don't look like I have anything expensive in my 10 year old truck. If someone were to break in and find it, I guess I'm out $400 and I'll just go buy another one. Either way, I'm not going to let animals affect my level of preparedness. I read this morning that Moms Demand Action presented Harris Teeter with a petition to change their policy and prohibit law-abiding citizens from carrying in their stores. Just like their parent company, Kroger, they told the mommies to go jump in the lake. :rofl:3 points

Right now. Why won't THP round them up like they did w the last group that camped out down town?? The downtown folks didn't stop commerce or lay on a public roadway. Am So sick of non productive crap by douchebags in batman shirts that don't have a job to be at in the morning. Per Ron White, u can't fix stupid.....2 points

The Patriot Act...hope you're joking. We need a lot less of that beacon of anti-freedom. I'm surprised nobody in the government has tried to coral them into a "free speech zone." Legally, they are in the wrong for being out on the highway, but the place, and the timing was to get them on the news for free media to promote their cause. The way government tires to regulate dissent through things like the Patriot Act and local laws is shameful at times. As long as they stay peaceful, I think it's in the public interest to let them go on. Someday that might be us out there protesting gun control laws or something else we would get worked up over.2 points

Bring it to Mike Dresner in Oak Ridge. Hell, I'll even drive. I like visiting him. Got back from a full days trip yesterday actually. Had him engrave my MP5 and SBR AR lower while I was there. He uses his CNC machine and it goes a great job.2 points

You must be scrawny, if a car hit me, there would be severe damage (to the car)! One of Newton's laws sure would be applied, Force=Mass x Acceleration. :rofl:2 points

Well this afternoon I decided I'd slip out and hunt a good plot that I have been leaving alone so far. I've been seeing a 10-11 point that's tall and wide on the camera over there so I decided to give it a shot since it was nice out. Just before dark a buck come in from my left and is broadside so I was seeing a tall rack. I kept waiting but he just refused to move any way but broadside and it was stating to get dark. Since he was the only tall racked deer that I'd seen on the camera I decjded it had to be him so I took the shot. I've not hunting with my AR since last year so my range habits were still with me so he got a double tap behind the shoulder. He went about 5 feet and dropped so I got on up and started walking towards him. The closer I got the more I realized it wasn't the buck I thought he was. He's no where near as wide as the other one so I'm kicking myself. This one would have made a nice buck next year guess I learned my lesson. On a positive note, it's meat in the freezer and gives me a decent deer to try a European mount out on.2 points

I finished this about a week ago. My instructor was YouTube and I had a great time making it. I am not looking for at a boys or good job, but I am looking for constructive criticism. If you are a knife maker that is close to Franklin, I would love to come buy and see your shop and possibly watch you work. If I need to pay to do this I will. The scales are wenge and the steel is a bar I had sitting in the garage. Thanks for looking.2 points

And Charlie Beckwith (the guy who founded Delta - the unit not the airline-) was hit with a 12.7mm round (the Russian .50 cal) in vietnam and survived....so what? Exactly WHERE did the NY bullet sponge get hit? And was the head wound a penetrating wound or a superficial glancing shot? Sorry, but I'm gonna side with Davison who worked counter terror in Northern Ireland vs the IRA (and the SAS and SBS shot a lot of Irishmen) vs an anecdotal story of some guy somewhere sometime who was shot somewhere with 9mm who did not die. Especially when that is EXACTLY what the SEAL contingent that "testified" at the FBI wound ballistics workshop in 87 said . They gave a "classified " briefing which pretty much said 9mm killed people dead when you hit them somewhere important. Peripheral hits don't do any good with any caliber. And I'm going to guess that the NY guy took a lot of hits in NON VITAL places. But holes in hearts , spines and brains are just that....HOLES in hearts spines and brains no matter what puts them there. And holes in hearts , spines and brains tends to make people lay down and die right now. Placement is far and away more important than bullet diameter given an adequate amount of penetration to hit vital structures. Next most important is punching multiple holes and disassembling those internal organs. Physics is physics and scientifically measurable data is just that...scientifically measurable.... and the difference in energy is MINUSCULE between .45 and 9 and the difference in size of hole is minuscule. As to anecdotal stories.....In the book "A Wayward Angel the Full Story of the Hells Angels" one of them was shot multiple times with .45, survived and actually got a tattoo that said ".45s aint sh!t ,17 holes , 4 creases"..... so ANYTHING can fail spectacularly if the shooter can't place the holes into important structures......2 points

I like the positive atmosphere in discussions. On other boards the posters get into pissing contests over miniscule details, devolving into personal attacks and kindergarden verbage. I do not post much, on any board, due to that reason. I appreciate TGO for the maturity, knowledge base and clean humor found here. I know there was a "purge" some time back with over the line posters and Iam appreciative of the effort of the mods.2 points

So many if you know I'm dedicated to the AK and have little care for AR's, but I was wanting a 308 platform and nothing in the AK world got me too excited. Came across an Aero M5 receiver set and so started assembling an AR in 308. Since its not really an AR, I could justify it. [emoji6] Anyway here it is. Ambush Tactical fluted barrel 16", Larue grip, knock off brake, Ergo F93 stock, PSA BCG. Still waiting on a proper length gas tube and the UTG rail is quite impressive. I know the UTG name doesn't instill confidence, but options are slim on the 308 and this thing is fantastic. Especially for the price.1 point

Two others. Both worked perfect. Have a new failzero In there now and it's literally perfect ejection. That AIM I got was just junk. I made a thread about it a while back even. Even has a guy join the Tgo community just to message me saying he had the same issues with his and was glad it wasn't just him1 point

Oh, yeah! SMKW is Disneyworld for us guys & they even have stuff the ladies like too. My dad started taking me there almost 30 years ago back when they were at their old location down the road. A lot of memories with that place. I also agree that their prices stay pretty competitive on most things.1 point

WOW! That is a nice one! It will have to go on my wish list though. Somewhere around the 351PD. lol Don't tell me you don't have a running list of wants that get rated and revised constantly as well.1 point

From the comments above, it sounds like it's a good owner with lousy employees and sometimes good prices. With shops like GnL around here with good owners AND good employees AND good prices, I won't be bothered with anything less.1 point

Well I suppose it could have been worse but do yourself a favor and get that knee checked out. And just because you weren't in a crosswalk doesn't give anyone the right to not pay attention and run you over like a dog....just sayin'.1 point

Dave, What is used to patch up a broken tine? Is it some sort of epoxy that is formed and color matched?1 point

Dang Lance, you runned over one! Just Kidding Buddy, nice buck. If you lived closer I'd fix that rack right up for ya! Dave1 point

FINALLY!!!First deer down of the season after 4.7 million hours invested lol. Can't post a pic because his rack is too big to get in the frame.... well, there's my hunting "He was <----> this big" story, but truth is he's a nice 7 pointer, biggest and coolest rack for me. He has crab claws on the main beams. Well, one had the tip broke off, but EXTREMELY happy today y'all! Pics when I get home. Here's the pictures, check out his crab claws. I think they are cool as hell. Like LukeE said, I could get it replaced at taxidermist, but he had to fight to break it so I'll do him justice and leave it as is. I would have liked to get a picture with it, but nobody to take it and didn't really have a great place to set the camera for a selfie. I'm sure I could have figured it out but I was too excited to think about anything else :)1 point

If anyone wants NEW steel ammo cans, Academy Sports deal is active. .50cal cans for $9.99 plus free shipping with orders over $39. They usually start their deals early, I am glad because really wanted a few new cans since used cans at the gun shows aren't much cheaper.1 point

wonder how long their backorder time might be? I never ordered anything from them before1 point

That would be a death sentence. Everyone knows 2 x .22 = .44 and while the .44 is still .45-1, it's still close enough to do some real damage. ;)1 point

I prefer there be a primative firearm season that limits firearm to lead bullet, open sights. Those others are merely modern firearms along with many of the current crop of modern "frontstuffers".1 point

The type 94 almost seems backwards to me. Seems it might make more sense to charge a an additional $20 in order to shoot a buck and not charge anything additional to hunt does. I'm betting as many if not more hunters would go for that on the chance that they might have to pass on a nice buck. It would also be more friendly to financially disadvantaged hunters who are just trying to put some meat on the table.1 point

NO!!!! We have a rifle season where "Centerfire" weapons are permitted. I have in the past and will in the future, push for a primitive season similar to PA. Sidelock Percussion and Sidelock Flint only. Move Inlines to the regular gun season! Dave1 point

Two things about your current path that I would watch for better results (I'm not necessarily offering an opinion on "juicing"). 1. As peejman mentioned, watch your sugar intake and make sure and juice with lower GI foods. Sugar will eventually wreek havoc on your weight loss goals. Juicing removes a lot of the fiber that tempers sugar uptake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index 2. Add a protein powder/source to your "meals." You want to lose fat, not muscle. Your body will burn both if it has to... Also, this will make you feel more full. Good luck.1 point
