  3. It’s Tennessee LEO’s that are doing it here. They shouldn’t need the Feds to tell them its wrong; the Tennessee legislature needs to follow suit and ban the practice.

  7.   No.  Apparently it's vaporware.  Should have been out a long time ago.  Regardless, the all plastic ones work just fine but since I base my operational kit on what the internet says I'll certainly perish in a tactical situation.

  8. They can confiscate anything they want if they are investigating a crime. The problem comes into play when they are asked to explain any RAS or PC that a crime was or is being committed. This is a black eye for law enforcement and as I said here before; you can lay this right at the feet of the Police Chiefs and Sheriffs that participate in it. Good cops don’t do this and good department heads don’t allow it.

  9. And where exactly does the shoulder start? I shoulder my guns over the meaty part of my chest about where my nipple is. Shouldering it over a bone gets painful pretty quick.

  10.       Hardly.  Wally Walks usually do not maim and disfigure.   You ought to try pulling the trigger on a new load in a brand new gun.  That you built.  Even worse, experience a hang fire when you do.  It sucks, and it puckers the butt big time.

  11. I had a friend who was retired LEO and approved numerous times, then one day a few months later he was inexplicably denied. He called and questioned, wondered and worried, but didn't get any answers until he filed the appeal form. He was subsequently told by the TBI that they "made a mistake" and were sorry, and he was instantly approved. Never told him what their mistake was, but at least they owned up to it.

  15. I was lucky to have adopted a beautiful baby boy beagle 15 years ago, he was just a little cute chubby one of six from the litter. I got him at the pound and he is a pure breed. Age caught up with him and today he couldn't take it anymore. The pic with the shirt was after his last surgery, the other one is from the rough life he had! :) Obie was his name and food was his game! This little guy got me through a lot in life and I am glad he crossed my path and brought me the joy and strength I needed. RIP little buddy!

  17. I live in Franklin and am not worried one bit about it becoming like Hickory Hollow.  This to me is nothing more than a statistical absolute.  The larger a city gets, the more crime it has.  Nowhere is immune to crime and I am sure in some ways, people here are an easy target because it is a nicer area, meaning that they are too oblivious to the real world around them.  When violent crime starts spiking, I will worry about it.

  20. I have always loved this and think it might fit here: Dogs In Heaven? An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and looked in, it was nice grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on. They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven" he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you." "What kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If he can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now." "Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road." So the old man and dog went on. They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "S'cuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?" "Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable" "You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere." "Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?" "No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in. We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final." The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven." "You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?" "That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

  24. I have three adult cats around 12 years of age and a labrador that is 6 years old; all of them are fixed and live inside. As crazy as this sounds, I really wish that my male cat had not be fixed because I would love to have one of his offspring. Sometimes you just get a special animal that you know that you could never replace, but having one of their offspring may be the closest you could ever get. That is just another little something to think about.

  28. I filed the appeal right then and there and they faxed it in for me. A little back story as to why it bugs me more that it should, Our dept. went to 9mm and I have the opportunity to buy my duty weapon from the vendor that the 9mm's were purchased from. $299 for a nearly new Glock 23 Gen 3 w/night sites and 3 mags but we only have till next Wed to get them before they hit the floor. Arrrrggggghhhhhhhh the wonders of governments. :)

  29. Yeah, I would grab a pair of plier and put some padding on it then squeeze each side to open the feed lips up some. Providing the feed lips do not hit the bolt I think it will be fine. There are a few other options, send it back and hope the next one is better or file the feed lips down/out some. I, personally, would have a hard time filing on a magazine that expensive though.

  30. Although we all know quite a bit about his life and the journey he made. it still will be incredible to watch.   Even watching the preview of his agonizing decision in the scene with the little boy, I felt so torn. I could not imagine being in Chris's position and confronting the reality of either side on that.   Shoot or not. Watching Cooper in that scene just makes me want to crawl in a hole and retreat from the world. I pray never having to make a decision like that.

  33.   The obvious solution is that you need a couple more .25s!  I only have one, myself, right now.  Mine is just a little Titan but I really like shooting it.  It is pretty much exactly like the very first handgun I ever owned (which was apparently 'lifted' from my mom's house at some point.)  For such little pistols, mine have proven both surprisingly accurate and reliable.

  43. Oh, the Termi. What a car. I had an 04 back when they were new. It was my daily driver for 6 years. I was running a Kennebell at 23lbs with a hair over 700HP at the wheels. A 700RWHP daily Driver. And no one really knew about the Terminators. Many a Viper, Vette, Camaro, you name it...rolled up and were stunned. Here she was out on The Dragon about 10 years ago. I'm all misty! And I agree the New GT is the best looking supercar I have ever seen.

  44.   The speed of sound changes with temperature as well as elevation. I have ammunition that I loaded in the summer that was subsonic. That same ammunition during the winter has a supersonic crack because of the cooler temperatures. I have started loading my ammunition to below 1,000 fps to make sure it will remain subsonic in the colder weather and even then some that are at 1,000 fps might crack from time to time depending on how cold it actually is. The speed of sound you listed is at sea level and 68 degrees. But when the temperature is 25 degrees the speed of sound is 1,079 fps. And at our elevation, ~1,000 feet, you can deduct another ~ 25 fps from that number.   This is also why things seem to sound louder in the winter. Sound travels so much better in the winter.   A lot of people cannot differentiate the difference between the sonic crack and the gun shot. Even suppressed a 223 seems really loud but a lot of it is because the sonic crack is bouncing back at you. It take 15-20 feet for the sonic crack to grow enough to be noticeable. This is why suppressors help those who are cleaning buildings. The bullets never go more than 15-20 feet so the sonic crack never develops. If you really want to hear how quiet your suppressor is shoot into a tree from ~10 feet. It will be loud but no where near as loud as the sonic crack of the bullet.   And sonic cracks are the same regardless of the caliber. A supersonic 22 is going to have a sonic crack as loud as a supersonic 223. Now the 223 might sound louder but that is because it spends more time above the speed of sound.   And there is an advantage to using a suppressor against live targets, especially with supersonic ammunition. If something is facing you, you fire and miss the target thinks the gunshot comes from the direction of the sonic crack. That is if a supersonic bullet passed by the right ear, even if they are facing the shooter, the crack sounds like it comes from the right because that is where the bullet passed. Or if a target is facing 90 degrees away and you fire in front of them the sonic crack will sound like it is right in front of them. I did not believe this until I tested it. No I did not have anyone shoot at me nor did I shoot at anyone else. My wife boards her horse and horses will generally run towards a gun shot to see what it is. So I shot a suppressed gun past them and they ran towards the bullet path rather than towards me. Subsonic is great but you can still hear where the shot came from within a certain distance (depending on caliber). With supersonic ammunition the sonic crack will likely mask the noise a suppressed gun makes when firing supersonic ammunition.   I bought a CMMG 16" barrel and initially chopped it to 10". I then welded a tube onto the barrel to bring it to 16"+. My suppressor slid down inside the tube and threaded onto the barrel. After my SBR paperwork came back I cut it to 4.25" and then screwed up the thread job so I cut it back again in order to thread it correctly. It is a dedicated 22lr gun so I do not mind altering some stuff if need be. I do plan on putting a folding stock on it at some point.   ALL ammunition will remain subsonic out of a 3.5" barrel. Even Stingers will remain subsonic. Stingers need barrel length to get to the velocity they claim and out of short barrels it will never get above the speed of sound. I chronographed them out of a 4.5" barrel and they would hover around 1,000 fps. But yeah, the 3.5" barrel will keep everything subsonic. I shoot a bunch of bulk pack and they are great out of that setup. And with my 30 caliber suppressor, rather than my 22 suppressor, all you hear is the action cycling and the hammer striking.

She belonged to one of my hospice patients and did not have any where to go after his passing. Family was going to take her to the pound. I COULD NOT see that happening. We were best friends until Dec 3 when she started acting weird and would not eat. Vet said she had liver cancer after a lot of tests. I still look for her everyday when I get home. You really can't beat a Weimy for a great pet. Thanks for starting this thread.
