Instead of drug testing, how about we cut taxes, repeal onerous laws and regulations, eliminate various departments and/or agencies, enforce existing immigration laws etc...? Basically, how about we just shrink the size of government and eliminate all the handouts? If government wasn't involved, things would probably be cheap enough that non-freeloaders wouldn't need assistance in the first place. We have some 40 plus million on food stamps alone. It would get pretty expensive doing a monthly drug test on that number of people. I don't want to pay for that, nor do I want to increase the size of government further, which is what implementing such a program would do. Anyway, such a policy/law would never be passed at the federal level, but neither would my proposal. Since I am debating two things that won't happen, I would rather have the one that eliminated all the handouts and shrank the government.6 points

I think it's an exception if you set it off with a non-922r compliant SIG brace equipped AK pistol fired from the shoulder that's 26" OAL with a vertical forward grip and a bootlace tied to the trigger guard. - OS6 points

Oldogy... I like this one... Recently, i've changed my approach on the hog ring and piercing thing... I used to smile and act like it wasn't there...Now, i take a close look at it like it's a problem and is hurtin the wearer; then i politely ask if they need it removed... I always tell 'em that i have my pliers in my fishing tackle box and that i'll be glad to get the hook out... Strangely, i've had no takers, but plenty of polite "no's"... Its great to watch the reaction... leroy, "...hook removal jhadist..." and old time fisherman...4 points

So what happens after they fail a drug test? They lose all their benefits, right? No food, no home, no medical, nothing. What do they do then? Rob, steal, etc... Then they go to prison and we still wind up paying for them. The problem is the institution and what it has become, three, four generations living on the dole and knowing all the ins and outs. If the system were overhauled to be beneficial, it would enable these folk to empower themselves and better themselves. As it is now, the system IS a career choice.4 points

This area is about as safe and safe gets. Stay out of the Antioch/Nolensville road (north of old hickory) it's rough Cool Springs/Franklin is where we spend 80-90 percent of our restaurant/shopping. Downtown/midtown offer some great food options that are not to be missed, but it can be a pain to get down there sometimes.3 points

Didn't FL try this, passed the law but then the courts ruled it was an unconstitutional search? I'm sorry, but if you want your government hand out, you need to piss in the cup. Don't want to get drug tested, then don't take the money. The real problem is that we have families that are 2 or 3 generations on welfare. No one in the family has ever had a job, just lived off the government tit. I say, in addition to drug tests, if you are not on disability, then limit the time you can draw welfare. Max of a couple of years, regardless of the number of kids you pop out. I have an aunt, that when she was younger told her family that she was going to have another kid just so she could stay on welfare longer. Since her first had just turned 16, she had another, then another just to keep from working. This same aunt would buy an item, like a curling iron, put her old one in the box and seal it back up then return it for a refund.3 points

Debtor's prison? Indentured servitude? I'm only kinda serious. I think welfare as a government service should be dissolved and given to private entities to manage... specifically churches.3 points

I too have a "pee in a cup" job. I wouldn't be opposed to drug testing and birth control for welfare recipients.3 points

This whole "empty chamber carry" thing usually done by someone who is more afraid of the gun they carry than they are of the bad guys. And that is to some degree the fault of all the "you are more likely to be killed by a gun if you have one in the home " crowd. The average person (especially those in urban areas) knows little about guns other than what they see and hear on TV. So people who know LITTLE about guns and even LESS about how fast REAL street crime happens decide they want to get a HCP but they are so afraid that the gun might "go off" they carry with an empty chamber. My question is do they only load 5 rounds in their six shot double action revolver so they have to pull the trigger TWICE to get it to go off? It is NOT logical. Ask any of the empty chamber carriers WHY they do it and the answer is EMOTIONAL....NOT logical. I've been working a full time job in the shooting industry for over 15 years and been teaching HCP classes the same amount of time and working as a travelling instructor, attending and presenting at some of the biggest conferences in the country for the last 8 years....and in ALL that time and travel I have yet to meet a SINGLE SERIOUS GUN CARRIER who carries with an empty chamber. And there is a reason for that. The people who KNOW how fast things can go from "hey man, do you have a cigarette" to "give up yo' wallet Mother F-er" know that empty chamber carry is stupid practice that can get you killed. Now for those of you who say "well that is how we carried them in the army back in the day " ....maybe so...but that doesn't in ANY way mean that was the best practice...it just means the army doctrine for carrying a 1911 was "officially" to carry with an empty chamber for safety. I then ask those guys how much pistol training did you get AFTER you did BASIC? Any ? No? Unless you were in a VERY specialized unit, or were an MP you didn'ty carry loaded pistols in any kind of capacity on a regular basis....so people take that to mean that "if the army did it that way it was right". No...if the army did it, it was for a reason and that reason is RARELY because it is the best practice for FIGHTING. It is simply an effort to keep UNTRAINED personnel from shooting themselves and others accidentally because they cannot grasp the concept of not using the trigger as a place to rest their finger . Once those same people deployed to a combat zone the general practice was to say "to hell with the regulations" and carry it loaded and the safety on when outside the wire.....why? Because racking the slide took too long to bring the weapon into a usable condition. In my "day job" I sell holsters and ammo and all manner of other accessories. I had an old guy (clearly in his 60s or 70s) call about a "defective" Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster for his "old military .45". He said it would not "fit". He said the thumb snap would not snap. I finally figured out WHY and asked him ...Sir, are you trying to holster that pistol with the hammer down or with it cocked? He said "What kind of idiot carries it cocked?" I asked if he had a round in the chamber and he again asked what kind of idiot carries that with a "bullet" in the chamber.....He informed me that he was a korean war vet and that "no one" carries a round in the chamber. I told him that Glaco designs their 1911 holsters to be carried with the hammer cocked, round chambered and safety on. THAT is why his gun would not fit.If the hammer was down the thumbsnap was not long enough to wrap around the hammer.... If he simply cocked the hammer it would fit..... He was dumbfounded because apparently since that is how the army did it (empty chamber) in 1950 that was the pinnacle of small arms TTPs.... Another pet peeve is the folks who simply parrot what other uninformed folks have told them about the Israelis carrying with an empty chamber and that they have some of the best counter terror folks in the world so if they do it then it must be OK.....well their CT units carry with loaded chambers...it is the " 2 year conscripts " that carry empty chamber and that started largely because in 1948 when Isreal became a country of their own for the first time since the late Old Testament times they had a hodge podge of foreign guns all with different features and different safety mechanisms. How to train people to use all this differnt stuff? Have them leave the safeties OFF and leave the chamber unloaded....that will work for EVERY TYPE of pistol no matter who made it or where and it is easier to have people do that than to invest the time into training them in good gunhandling practices...... So for all those carrying empty chamber....ask yourself this question.....how do guns go off? The trigger has to be pulled. So if we habituate ourselves to keeping our finger off the trigger until the muzzle is pointed at the target and we don't carelessly handle the pistol and when we are not handling it we have it in a holster that covers the trigger guard then it is nigh unto impossible for it to go off accidentally......AND it will work RIGHT NOW in an emergency situation when you pull it out without having to take the time to involve the other hand to make it functional. Carry how you want....but empty chamber carry is like emptying your car gas tank when you get where you are going so that the car doesn't catch on fire.....a ridiculous practice born of fear and emotion not education and logic.3 points

I was able to take the VP9 out today at lunch to Everything Weapons range in Franklin. From the very first magazine, one ragged hole after another, I couldn't be happier with gun! It ran perfect, all it needs now is more mags, some trijicon h.d.'s and more ammo! I've been looking for a 9mm to start taking some classes with and I believe i've found it.2 points

Based on what you described you likely want to live southwest of town within 10 miles (east or west) of the I-65 corridor, likely south of 840. That will put you... 1. Close to Spring Hill 2. Close to Owl Hollow / CHMR outdoor range 3. Close to Strategic Edge in Chapel Hill 4. Close to Cool Springs for shopping, dining 5. Quick access to SR-840 to hit Rutherford Co if needed Basically somewhere in this area: Or you might try Fairview which is still reasonably close to Spring Hill thanks to SR-840, but further away from all of the other things I listed.2 points

Some guy will really appreciate all their hard work. My forecast? Some man who was just like any other man, now finds himself with a deathly ill wife and two two starving children in a post apocalyptic hell on earth. He happens upon this group of wonderfully stocked and prepared dipsheets and armed with a simple little revolver and his his freshly seared conscience, he slaughters this entire family. Mops up the blood, drags their retarded carcasses off to the woods about a 1/4 mile down and moves his sick and starving family right on in. Now, that might be a bit of silly fiction BUT, these people are beyond deluded. They have obviously never considered a REAL man's resolve when his family is on the brink of death because a real man that loves his family will strike the match that sets his soul to burn in exchange for their well being. Never underestimate a man that loves his family. He might be the best friend you've ever had but he stab you in the throat while you sleep before his family starves and dies.2 points

It's interesting how times, values, and opinions change. As stated above... many years ago, being on the "dole" was considered disgraceful. A man worked for a living. Any job, no matter how menial, was better than no job and being a debtor. People were proud of the work they did. I think a lot of that was because at that time, most of the work was done with one's hands. At the end of the day, there was some physical thing that was accomplished that one could be proud of. Now, lots of people spend the majority of their work day pecking away at a keyboard. The physical manifestation of their labor has been lost. Their reward for good work is typically more work. People deal with stupid rules, stupid bosses, stupid meetings, and feel no more valuable than a number in that spreadsheet they've been working on all day. The lack of anything tangible makes it much more difficult to take pride in your work. Pride (to the point of narcissism) is one of the "7 Deadly Sins", but a lack of pride seems to be more of a problem in modern society.1 point

It's hard to tell with the naked eye, but a 9mm isn't straight-walled, like most pistol rounds. They are tapered from .394" at the rim to .380 at the case mouth (when properly crimped). I've had success with reloads as wide as .383" at the case mouth and as narrow as .379". When I start reloading a new caliber, I find a brand of ammo that all my guns like and use those measurements as a starting point when I first setup my dies. That always gets me in the ballpark the fastest.1 point

The only time I've actually NEEDED one was when forming cases. Sometimes the shoulder may not set back far enough or the neck may be too thick. Otherwise, when reloading factory brass, a full-length resize takes care of it.1 point

And, so it begins. But just to elaborate, no one will be required to take the mark until the antichrist actually comes to light and obommer ain't it. When the antichrist gains power, he will be very popular, make all the "right" decisions, and everyone that is here at that time will believe he will solve all the world problems. And according to the Bible (God's Word and plan) if you are a Christian, a true Christian, then you won't be here when he comes to power.1 point

Sort of. 1350 says LEO can't carry off-duty in schools during regular school hours unless they immediately notify the principal (or aother admin if principal isn't available). If this bill passes, we'd have to do the same. I suppose after hours parent-teacher meetings would be OK, but that's sort of splitting hairs about "regular school hours".1 point

Any 870 isn't bad but the best ones are the older wing masters or any Police Magnum. These were all metal whereas the express models have some polymer parts. Similar to the differences between the mossberg 500 and 590. I'm not sure your intended purpose but a 20" barrel with rifle sights most likely has a rifled bore for slugs1 point

I don't know a whole lot about 870's, but the Express is their lower end. I'd like to find an old Wingmaster riot gun.1 point

I think it would be very hard for anyone to out shoot a quality, modern handgun. Put any of mine on a rest vs. my hand and the gun wins. Hands down-- :surrender: With that said, one may fit me better than you. Therefor, i may shoot particular gun better. It's no the gun. It's our hands or skills/ability/training. :popcorn:1 point

My land had a TVA powerline going through it so trees are a premium, I planted quite a few but many just didn't take for one reason or another. Here are a few things I learned: Select a good site, enough sun/shade and drainage depending on tree Test your soil and check what the tree requires before planting like PH and nutrients etc. Buy your trees from someone that grows them here in TN, I use a guy out in Joelton, good prices and all home grown. Buy enough trees, some need pollinators others will self pollinate. Plant in early winter, while tree is dormant. Use mulch around the base to hold moisture but don't cover the bark. Put a cage around the tree until tall enough, deer ate all the leaves off my apple trees. Stake the tree down, they need a bit of support until they take root, you can use the cage if cage is well supported. Fertilize when advised, test soil yearly to make sure it still has what the tree needs. Use those watering bags that water for an extended period of time until tree matures and takes root. Like I said, some of mine did not make it due to failure of me to follow these steps. And since I don't get to my land all the time, it took a year before I found out the tree did not make it. I had a nice 10'-15' apple tree already there, but the power company, (not TVA) cut it down when they ran a new line along the road. They replaced it with a new one but that one is not looking good. An other think you may look into are Black and Blue Berry bushes, I planted those as well and some are doing good.1 point
