Took this picture this morning as I was getting to work. Was on the phone with my wife letting her know I had got to work OK and said something about the pond being froze. She said get a picture. I only had minutes to get to my desk and clocked in, so I took 2 pictures barely paying attention and this is what came out. I believe I am going to have it framed. I couldn't have got a better picture had I tried.8 points

Folks, here's my "primitive" hunting gear for my traditional hunts. The rifle is a .75 cal (12 ga) cut down Brown Bess Musket. It patterns number 5 shot in an awesome manner. I Squirrel and Rabbit hunt with it. I only Squirrel hunt in my Native kit. Plus I'm a Native Reenactor and I love it!!!! Dave5 points

My guard, posted and on duty, he gets cold, ice hanging off of him and he stands his post every day. 5 points

For what it's worth, when I make code changes to the site, I test the ever loving shit out of them across platforms and devices. Windows with Firefox Windows with Chrome Windows with MSIE (bleh) Mac with Firefox Mac with Chrome Mac with Safari (bleh) iPhone Android Tablet What I don't do is turn my monitors on their head. That practice will most certainly not change.4 points

Last year LWRC debuted their PDW at SHOT. I ordered one pretty quickly and have been waiting on them and the ATF. I wanted to do something cool with it since I had seen Modern Outfitters do some really cool stuff. The form 3 cleared today and they finished the coating process. Hope you like .....2 points

Congrats on your success and recent acquisitions. I've worked on literally thousands of guns, and find that almost anything can be made to function reliably given enough effort and attention. Many times its just a proper cleaning and lube, sometimes different ammo or a repair. But I wouldn't classify a Sig 1911 or PK380 as problematic, those guns run all day long. Try your luck with a Jennings, Lorcin, Bryco, or some of the really old junk guns and see how well you can do. They are still doable but more of a challenge, especially after some idiot has been at them with a dremel or worse.2 points

Spoke with three different Sheriffs about this bill today, they say it is DOA as far as they are concerned. These are three that have their heads on straight too, Sheriff's Association is out against it. Main concern is Billy Bob would think he is off duty LE... That carries a lot of weight in LP. Legislators might get caught drinking and driving with a gun in their car, they (legislators) will do as the Association wishes.2 points

I'm gonna load the powder and primers tomarrow in some brass and do some test firing :ugh: . Mainly hoping for good functioning/cycling right now. I'll worry about accuracy later on. I think I'm gonna test them in my Ruger P94 since it's built like a tank. I'll load them lightly and at the minumum load as I can . Like I mentioned , I'm all new to this so I'm taking baby steps.2 points

Just a reminder to the Genny users please make sure your connection to the main powerline id disconnected so the electricity can't back feed, as a former Line clearance tree trimmer, and the father of a Supervisor at Wolf Tree I thank you. We had a lot of problem with this working an Ice Storm in Arkansas back in 2001 I had a couple of my guys put in the hospital due to a genny back feed. so lets keep the guys tring to get your power back on safe :2cents: :)2 points

Ha! When I told my wife I wanted to try and make some paracord stuff, she said, "Oh, you mean macrame? I have a book on it around here somewhere." I lost my interest.2 points

Hopefully this bad weather has allowed every member of TGO to contact the appropriate representatives and organizations opposing this ban. I have lost count of the emails sent and voicemails left. I also have letters ready to be mailed tomorrow. If you do not stand up and speak then you are part of the problem. I can guarantee you the anti-gun folks are out in force and making sure their voices are heard. With record sales of guns and ammunition over the last few years the pro-gun voice should be loud, strong and be roaring in our representatives ears. If every gun owner will speak up that voice will be heard. For those who are afraid to put your name in an email, to a phone call or in a letter, You have already lost.2 points

I am constantly sending emails. As you stated, I hear many rant, rave and complain but have never contacted anyone or voiced their opinion. It's sad when a very small percentage of people can create this change. Time people get off their ass and take a stand. My wife just laughs when we both send emails. She says bring on the circling helicopters at least they will know how we feel.2 points

I shoveled ice off my driveway while the sun was out, but I didn't have fun. Note to self: Never shovel ice off your driveway and then come in and sit for an hour.1 point

Hey I heard someone a loooooooong time ago say you were supposed to learn at least 1 thing a day. I could learn several and still not know as much as most people. I hope everyone has a chance to get out and find some, be careful for snakes that time of year. I remember that where you would find them would be shady and would grow ferns was a good place. They are well camo'ed and are easy to walk by or on. Once you find one look real close in the area, they grow from spores and I would think they would be pretty close.1 point

Well, they shut down BNA all day today too. We just bought some other tickets and going to come into Birmingham and drive up. Weather was awesome out here, but this turned into a rather expensive trip due to the incidentals.1 point

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I understood that it's a pretty common practice throughout Western Europe. I've heard a few rumors about agencies in this country looking at it as well. Right up there with Progressives little device that attaches to your car's computer and records Everything about your driving from the time you start the engine until you park.1 point

Being an adult that doesn't like to pay 'stupid taxes' anymore, I stayed home today. They closed the office, so I had to work from home. They supposedly declared a state of emergency up here over a foot of snow. We have food (Bread and Milk Oh My!) and power.1 point

if you like a higher proofed Bourbon try Larceny. It is fairly new. It is a 92 proof wheated bourbon. People seem to like it a lot.1 point

I won't speak against buying in bulk, but the 100' lengths at Walmart are satisfactory. I used some of it to tie a tree that was growing crooked and four months later in all kinds of weather, it's still holding.1 point

I was checking out the top 11 9mm list and saw the P-38. My buddy bought a P1 a few years back and when we go shooting, it's the one he shoots. He likes it the best out of all his handguns and he has a lot brand-name stuff in the safe to choose from. If you're looking for shooter and "duty-grade" all steel 9mm, may be worth checking out.1 point

I've copied the sample letter below that they posted with their video and I'm not sure if their letter is the best approach to take. What do you think? It seems to me that the BAFTE's response would be something to the effect of, "thanks for reminding us that the M193 ammo will defeat the armor as well. We'll be sure to add it to the list." I know they would have a harder time trying to regulate that ammo since it doesn't meet the normal AP description but it seems to be just their next step if they are able to do this to the M855 ammo. To whom it may concern, I am writing to voice my strong opposition to the proposed change to current law that would make it illegal to manufacture, import or sell on the open market M855 / SS109 ammunition. The claimed purpose of this change is to “protect the lives and safety of law enforcement officers from the threat posed by ammunition capable of penetrating a protective vest when fired from a handgun”. As the Technical Branch well knows, all rifle ammunition of a common caliber such as .223 / 5.56 is capable of penetrating threat level IIA and IIIA body armor regardless of the firearm that is used to fire it. M855 / SS109 is no more of a threat to law enforcement than M193 or Horandy VMAX loads are. It’s also worth noting that rifle caliber pistols are rarely used in violent crime, their usage is a statistical zero for all practical purposes, which further begs the question as to why this proposed rule change is being considered. Banning the availability of affordable surplus ammunition under the false pretense that it’s in the name of officer safety is a clear violation of our 2nd Amendment rights. Thank you for your time and consideration, FULL NAME CITY / STATE1 point
