  1. First to admit I know absolutely nothing about opening and setting up a range. But that design, with pistol ranges pointing inward to other ranges gave me a bit of a shiver. Just my first thought. Good luck in getting started.

  2. Actually that was some fine MOI (methods of instruction) being displayed by the instructor.   He Asked the PV1 what the problem was. He Explained to the PV1 what the problem was. He Showed the PV1 what the problem was.   Then he safety got the PV1 off the range for I expect to be some additional training.    Well Done!

  3. From what I have seen lately I don't think many drivers are worth a crap. Most of them are fooling around with their Iphone or their droid or whatever device of the day is. Put the *&^% thing down and pay attention. Use the left lane for passing then get your butt over, use your turn signals for the way you have decided to go. Know the difference in yield and merge. I think most drivers got their license at wally world on sale!!! I'm thru for now.

  11. Since multiple folks have mentioned the number of casualties in past attacks, let me just ask this: what is an acceptable number? You guys all good with the number that we've already lost? You good with 25 a year? 100 a year? 3500 in one year and then about 100 total in the 10 years after that? Why are we talking like any number is acceptable? We are talking about people's lives, right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12.   I have talked to a lot of people that don't understand the concept of consent.  They seem to believe that once you have been detained, then LEOs can pretty do anything they want.  They think if you refuse a cop, then you automatically go to jail (or at the very least get a ticket).  I have tried to educate them about their rights, but the idea persists.

  15. Yes the first AR I've owned. Been shooting uncle sam's version for 11 years though. It's mostly completed my gun collection. I no longer have any other guns I NEED for specific purposes.

  17. Geez, you guys are a bit harsh on the kid.  I guess nobody here had anything similar happen when they first picked up a gun.    It's called Basic Combat Training for a reason.  For all we know, this kid never touch a weapon in his life before the Army gave him one.  He's there to learn, and as DMark said, his Drill Sergeant is on top of it.  If he goes to a unit after Basic and AIT, and still has the same behavior, then there may well be a problem.  But until then, the Drill Sergeants have the lead in getting him up to speed.   Oh, and as far as all the "back in the day" syndrome goes of how much harder it was...yeah, it's fun to see how "soft" the Army has gotten, I suppose.  But the last 15 years have shown our troops are getting it done with the current training methods.

  18.   I also think the "cool factor" comes in when you have optics involved.  Red dots aren't a new thing anymore, and if you don't have one, it can seem like you aren't cool enough shooting next to the guy with an EoTech, or an Aimpoint micro.   Optics also let people think they are good to go right away, instead of focusing on the fundamentals.  I remember when my unit got enough Aimpoint's for everybody to have one, zeroing and qualifying became a chore, because people figured it would be easier with the cool toys and forgot the same fundamentals apply.  I would recommend all shooters learn the basics on iron sights, and when they are consistently hitting what they aim at, then they can add in an optic and go from there.

  20. Our son, who is finally back from Africa from deployment, came up with his wife and our brand new granddaughter on Wednesday. They where not here for 4 hours and the baby spiked a fever of 103.Off to the ER. Got admitted to Childrens. And she is still there..They think its a stomach virus. She is so tiny yet and it breaks my heart seeing her with a big ole IV and stuff. Son and daughter-in-law of course are worried to death. She isn't eating right yet, so another night in the hospital. We worry and it just plain sucks...She is soo sweet and right before she started getting a fever ,Gordon was just having a blast with her Looks like Grandpa Gordy needs a shave..lol

  21. Here are my last two builds. I favor the LMT or Rock River stand alone rear sights shown on these two rifles. They're the same good quality but the RRA unit is about 25% cheaper than the LMT. My AR's are set up for home defense and are zeroed at 25 yards with 55 grain Hornady TAP. I can still see well enough to score almost MOA groups at 100 yards from the bench with irons, so I don't see any reason to scope these guns just for 25 yard application. Suptayu, though. If you're using your AR for defensive purposes, heck with what anybody else thinks, go for what works best for you. This is a Palmetto State Armory build with added ALG ACT trigger and MagPul furniture. The rear sight is the LMT unit. This is a Spike's Tactical build of what I call my Short Rifle." I didn't want an ordinary carbine, so I merged a mid-length upper with the heavier government contour barrel and a standard A3 lower. MagPul furniture, RRA buttstock assembly and RRA rear sight, Geisselle SSA trigger. Testing the handling qualities of my "Short Rifle." It's a darn sweet handling rifle that I'm glad I built.

  42. My method, place an empty case in the shellholder, raise the ram all the way.  Screw the die in until it just touches the case.  Back out the seating adjuster, place a bullet in the case and adjust seating insert to your satisfaction.  Then screw the die in approximately 1/2 turn, more for a tighter crimp, not as much for less crimp.  I only take the flare out on 9mm ...

  43. Some guy will really appreciate all their hard work. My forecast? Some man who was just like any other man, now finds himself with a deathly ill wife and two two starving children in a post apocalyptic hell on earth. He happens upon this group of wonderfully stocked and prepared dipsheets and armed with a simple little revolver and his his freshly seared conscience, he slaughters this entire family. Mops up the blood, drags their retarded carcasses off to the woods about a 1/4 mile down and moves his sick and starving family right on in. Now, that might be a bit of silly fiction BUT, these people are beyond deluded. They have obviously never considered a REAL man's resolve when his family is on the brink of death because a real man that loves his family will strike the match that sets his soul to burn in exchange for their well being. Never underestimate a man that loves his family. He might be the best friend you've ever had but he stab you in the throat while you sleep before his family starves and dies.
