I debated on whether to post this or not, but here goes. This is not to imply that folks on here act irresponsibly but rather offer up an option to counteract those that do. The video may not make sense until the end so be sure to watch all of it. [media]https://youtu.be/JMs7dkdO4YY[media] Saving one dog will not change the world, but for that one dog the world will be forever changed. My wife and I help foster rescued dogs and it has been a joy to help dogs find a new home. Along the way three have found a permanent home with us. :) Don't think you can only get "older" dogs through a rescue group. Right now we are fostering a rescued female that was pregnant until her 3 pups get adopted. The last 8 weeks have been an amazing journey from seeing their birth until now. We are guessing they will be ready to adopt in about another week since they were so small at birth. (Mom only weighs about 8 lbs.) Here's a photo of them several weeks ago. So in closing, please consider adopting a rescued dog that needs a second chance at life. :) Here's the rescue group we volunteer with. http://proverbs1210rescue.org8 points

So, some of you saw my feeble attempt at getting some video with a cheap quadcopter I bought to play with. My flying wasn't pretty, but the video wasn't terrible (meaning quality of image) considering the cost. However, it did teach me one thing, and that is simply, Quad's are awesome. Fast forward a month and my lack of self control has me a new quad that is simply amazing. This is only my second attempt at making a video by editing video segments and adding audio, but I think it turned out pretty well. This quad has a camera attached that will shoot in 4k and take 12MB pictures. It is also night and day easier to fly. A couple of things I learned along the way for anyone interested. While cheap quad's are great for learning, the are very difficult to fly in a steady fashion. You will get better with them, but they will never allow you to get great video. You can get a cheap quad for $60 or less that will let you learn the basics, but you will quickly want to upgrade after you start playing with them. There is some pretty amazing technology out there now. I purchased the latest DJI Phantom 3 which is the quad you see them show a lot on TV. It's kind of like the AR/Glock of the Quad world. When you hear of an accident with a quad, no matter what one it was, they show a picture of a Phantom. If anyone is interested in learning a bit more, I would be glad to discuss it. First, a pic of the quad. A pic from about 400ft above my friends house. A pic of the Natchez Parkway Bridge And last, the video I did. Not terrible for my third flight and 2nd video ever made. It was all filmed this morning. https://youtu.be/ACswd_D1ofc6 points

By all means, if that's me talking about committing a crime, then the admin can send me a pm. I know you have no idea who I am. I don't really care if you ever do. I have had dozens of TGO members under my roof, shoot at my house, and come learn blacksmithing in my shop. I would give a stranger the shirt of my back and the food off my plate to help them. But I was raised different than most. I was raised that your word means something, you take your hat off at the table, you call people Sir and Ma'am, and you don't desecrate a flag. If someone insults my wife or my mother they will either apologize or I will most likely put them in the hospital. If I catch someone beating a dog, horse, etc, I am going to return the favor. If I catch someone beating a woman or a child I'm going to kill them. And I'll stand before a judge, jury and Almighty God and say the same thing. You don't insult people, you don't hurt those who can't defend themsleves, you don't lie, cheat or steal. Burning a flag was your question, but your intent was to start a fight. That's fine by me. I've been around far to long to fight on the internet. I don't really care if you agree or disagree with my values. But it pays to remember that some people live by the law of what's right or wrong, not what some paid off judge decides. I'll gladly face any consequences for my actions, and answer for them. But I'll die knowing I stood for something and didn't compromise my values for some piece of garbage who thinks torching a flag is perfectly ok. It also pays to remember that carrying a gun doesn't automatically make you a badass. There are those that will make you eat that gun, holster and all.5 points

Their actions still have consequences. It may not be from the government, but if I go to jail for stomping the hell out of some moron burning a flag, I'm ok with that. If you think I need a mental evaluation that's fine. The Marine Corps gave me one when I was Honorably Discharged and dint find anything wrong. Unlike what Mama may have told you, Violence does solve problems. This country would be a hell of a lot better place to live if assholes still got their guts stomped out for being idiots. Instead we pander to them, forcing our already overloaded courts to make decesion on whether something such as flag burning is covered by the 1st amendment. I said it before and I'll say it again. I take burning or stomping that flag as a personal insult, both to myself, to my best friend and his widow and orphans, and to every American who has been brought home draped under it. I am a violent person when I need to be, what's right is right, what's wrong is wrong. No matter what the government says4 points

This thread seems extremely useless. Closing it down and making note that so far I'm not seeing much firearms related content from the OP, but rather content intended to incite discord. Not a good thing for me to be making note of. Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk3 points

I would rather have Spots by my side to help me solve any problem than most others. He is not dangerous unless there is a need to be. Funny how you talk about how flag burning is free speech yet when someone says something you don't like you say he should be committed. He has made no threats towards you so who are you to say he needs to be committed? As much as you seem to dislike Spots for what he has said you doing the exact same thing. As I said their are consequences for everyone involved. If someone burns a flag and their ass gets beat then, right or wrong, that is a consequence. The person doing the beating will likely find themselves in jail for doing it and that is their consequence. If getting an ass beating is worth it to burn the flag then so be it. And if going to jail is worth beating the flag burners ass then so be it. The only person that can determine if it is worth it is the person suffering the consequences.3 points

Really? You want to hide behind a code of conduct? I’m not a moderator, don’t like to see threads locked, and didn’t sleep at a Holiday Inn last night, but I’m pretty sure that reopening a topic that has been locked and calling someone a mental case because you don’t like their comments is also a violation. This didn’t turn into a cop bashing thread as you hoped, but went another direction. There are more Patriots here than cops so good luck with the results. You reopened this topic for drama; you got it. I don’t think anyone has said anything yet to require the locking of this thread. As David once said he tends to let people look like fools rather than close a thread; that is what is happening right now.3 points

Talking about committing a crime would be a direct statement or threat. If you mean where Spots said "if I go to jail for stomping the hell out of some moron burning a flag, I'm ok with that.", that really isn't a threat/admission of guilt. It's more of a hypothetical. It seems like you're kinda being passive aggressive and wanting to start verbal disagreements, which is ok. Totally ok. But if you're going to go down a road, make sure you are choosing the right path. You're talking about a veteran. You're saying some pretty not nice things to him. Sure, there's some attitude from time to time on here. Yes, the men can be a bit catty and argumentative. But I bet they would all stick up for Spots in a heart beat. Especially to a newb like you. Take a chill pill and get some rest. You'll feel better in the morning.3 points

And while people think they can say anything they want under the guise of "freedom of speech" I will say they cannot. The protections afforded someone under the First Amendment is only there to protect the individual from the government, it does not protect them from another private party. Because I am not a government agency I can limit people's right to free speech on my property. If I don't like what you are saying I do not have to listen to it and can tell someone to either quit or leave my property. No one has the right to say whatever they want whenever they want, especially on private property. And one must realize that even though they may be allowed to say what they want under the guise of "free speech" there are consequences for what they say, both good and bad, and there should be. One must weigh the consequences to determine if the personal reward of saying what they want outweighs the risks. For most people the risks are far too great to speak their mind most of the time. Everyone weighs those decisions every day and just because someone may have a right to say something does not mean they will not suffer the consequences for what they chose to say. Just because someone has the right to say something does not mean they are exempt from the consequences and if those consequences break the law then they will have to deal with their own set of consequences for their actions. I can guarantee there is not a single person on this board who speaks their mind 100% of the time without weighing the consequences.3 points

I'm a Marine vet, and support free speech. Free speech is great. Call me whatever you want, insult vets, cops , and everyone else etc. But everytime you step on that flag all I can see is you stepping on the one who draped my best friends coffin, and that was handed to a 22 yr old widow in front of their two children. So yeah, I'm probably gonna get a little emotional and bust somebodies skull if they stomp that flag. Like I said I would die for that flag. Going to jail for it ain't shit. Oh. And I support gay married couples right to protect their pot plants with full auto, suppressed 10" AR-15's and drink 64 Oz big gulp sodas.3 points

A Lonely Man on a Beach A man washed up on a beach after a shipwreck. Only a sheep and a sheepdog were washed-up with him. After looking around, he realized that they were stranded on a deserted island. After being there awhile, he got into the habit of taking his two animal companions to the beach every evening to watch the sunset. One particular evening, the sky was a fiery red with beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle - a perfect night for romance. As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the lonely man. Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it. The sheepdog, ever-protective of the sheep, growled fiercely until the man took his arm from around the sheep. After that, the three of them continued to enjoy the sunsets together, but there was no more cuddling. A few weeks passed-by and, lo and behold, there was another shipwreck. The only survivor was Hillary Clinton. That evening, the man brought Hillary to the evening beach ritual. It was another beautiful evening - red sky, cirrus clouds, a warm and gentle breeze - perfect for a night of romance. Pretty soon, the man started to get those feelings again. He fought the urges as long as he could but he finally gave-in and leaned over to Hillary and told her he hadn't had sex for months. Hillary batted her eyelashes and asked if there was anything she could do for him. He said, 'Take the dog for a walk .'2 points

The last couple of dogs we have gotten have been older dogs whose owners have passed or had to give them up. Apparently no one wants an old dog and most are just put down. My wife has made it her mission to adopt older dogs and make their last years as good as possible. We have spent a fortune on some of them, but it has been worth it.2 points

I also 100% support spots kicking the shit out someone over it. I don't agree with it, but I wouldn't do more than tell him to GTFO of dodge while I talk to the cops either. ;) Guess that makes me a big ole hypocrite doesn't it.2 points

Of all the capricious conversations which transpire here in the TGO chat room, candles came up. I like my room to smell like pie, so much like real pie that I want to lick my walls and every other surface in the room. Gunpowdered scented candles came up, and I found this site called ManCans. Anyone hear of it or get candles from them? Some sents they offer: NY Style Pizza Dirt Gun Powder http://man-cans.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=60/1 point

A former neighbor had to deal with that. Her dad died and she had to take his dog. The dog went from living with an old man who never left home to living with a busy family who never were home. That poor dog cried and cried for weeks until they found another person to take it. As for rescue dogs, I guess we have the exception. I've had shelter critters my whole life and this one has been a PITA since day 1. Massive separation anxiety, massively anti-social with other dogs, clearly abused as a puppy, ... generally a neurotic mess. She's mostly manageable now, after lots of work and some help from Cesar Milan's books. She'll be 14 this summer. We tried to re-home her after she bit my son the 2nd time (on his forehead, stitches required), but were treated quite poorly by the rescue groups we contacted. More training of both the kids and the dog (and my inability to have her put down) have helped, but there are still occasional bumps in the road. When she passes I think it'll be a while before we get another dog. I'm kinda over it at this point, and that bugs me. I want my kids to grow up with pets they can love, not a dog they have to be somewhat wary of.1 point

A Springfield loaded is on my short list, nice gun! As far as grip, I sort of had the same problem with my Kimber Pro Raptor grips, thick and slick. They looked so awesome on the pistol I was hesitant to change them out but. function is more important to me than looks, sooooo. I ordered a set of VZ grips with the aggressive texture. They are much thinner than the wood factory grips, and I'm here to tell ya, even if your hands are covered in KY jelly for some odd reason, the pistol will never "slip" out of your hand! If you ever shoot an IDPA match in the rain, they just paid for themselves. The draw back of those aggressive texture grips is CCW on a belt holster with no under shirt. It will eat you raw in short order.1 point

Anybody should be able to burn the flag as a form of speech. I'm 99.9% sure I'll disagree with how they choose to convey their point, but they have the right to light it up as a means to do so if they choose. Should they ask me if they think its a good idea, I'd tell them to do a quick risk assessment with regards to what could happen. If someone wants to get physical as a response to flag burning, I have no sympathy for them when terms like assault and battery are read aloud in court as charges against them. Big boy rules apply on both sides of this philosophical debate. For myself, I have too much respect for freedom of speech to want flag burning to be illegal, and too much discipline to be goaded into a response towards those burning the flag.1 point

Dolomite states it perfectly. Talking about flag burning and not expecting some threatening statements from veterans is ridiculous. OP you where looking for trouble on this post and have only made it worse with mental health insults. If you are serious at all it speaks to the severe lack of principles and personal values in today's society. Just because the law protects what you say does not make it right. The westboro church people come to mind. Used to be a saying "There's a time and place for everything" but if you pick that time at the wrong place it can get your as# kicked. When did fighting for something you believe in give you mental health issues?1 point

Left lane drivers obstructing traffic are my pet peeve. In the state I was in it was a violation and I wrote it many times. I believe people obstructing traffic cause more accidents than speeders. It’s a violation in Tennessee also. So...if you are stacking cars up behind you; move to the right, and use a turn signal as you get out of everyone’s way. Think how much friendlier and safer the world would be if people used common sense and courtesy while driving.1 point

Hi, I have a micro compact loaded Springer and had the same issue with the slide stop. Its "normal" in 1911's... but the fix is simple. A small dimple needs to be filed on the slide stop so that the plunger has something to slide into. Any 1911 gunsmith can do it, either free or dirt cheap. You would think the manufacturers would mod the slidestop from the get go... but they don't. What works for me on those 1911's that I haven't fixed yet was a simple "thin" guitar pick. Plenty of them available here in TN !! Slide it between the plunger and the slide stop and the stop slips into position fast, with no "idiot marks" on the gun. Just my "2 cents" this morning. hope it helps. Edited to add a pic1 point

But If I use my turn signal I can't type out that text message while I'm turning.1 point

I will say I find it amusing that you believe I should be committed to a mental hospital. You have never sat around the fire and drank coffee with me, broke bread at my table, worked with me in the shop, or even met me face to face. You draw this conclusion from 3 post, that basically say I would be violent to protect an American flag from being desecrated. You talk of freedom then suggest I be locked away for my opinion. I have no criminal record, no speeding tickets, I left the Marines Corps with an RE-1A (recommended for renlistment) code on my DD-214, with not even a bad counseling in 5 years. Interesting1 point

I can do with my hands what a Taser could do (stop the attack), if I couldn’t they would probably take the Taser and use it on me. I’ll take an azz whipping before I pull a gun over people fighting. (I just don’t buy into the “They could die” nonsense and neither would most juries.) If I were being threatened by thugs that were truly a threat I have no problem with pulling a gun; shooting them would depend on their actions. I have never been tasered or tasered anyone. But I have used mace more times than I can count. I have had grown bad azz men sit down and cry, and I have had them act like I was spraying water on them. To me it’s a tool for dog attacks. Nothing wrong with going through these scenarios in your mind; everyone should do it, especially if they are carrying a gun. Every scenario must be very specific though; otherwise there are too many options. Protecting yourself and your family includes staying out of prison or financially devastating your family.1 point

And if you attack someone for burning a flag, understand that you will likely be arrested for assault, which you will deserve. As you say, actions have consequences. People who burn or otherwise desecrate the American flag are pathetic attention-seeking vermin who are trying to elicit an angry response. Why play into their hands and give them what they want? Now, if you realize that attacking a flag-burner constitutes assault, but you consider the penalty for assault a worthwhile price to pay for administering a beatdown to said flag-burner...well, that's why we have freedom of choice. I highly recommend you walk the route you intend to take so as to better familiarize yourself with the task and then develop a required equipment list. I would keep your get home bag as simple as possible in order to minimize weight and there by minimize the time impact of the trip. Essentials to me are as follows: Bag with good shoulder straps and a hip belt. Waterproof mechanism such as a trash bag if the bag itself is not waterproof. Footgear based on season, terrain covered, and weight carried. These do not have to be boots. One extra pair of socks to rotate out when the other pair has dried. Hat. Platypus for water. Water purification tablets. GORP of your own recipe equal to 4000 calories +\- based on your own needs. Headlamp if travelling off road. One set spare batteries for headlamp. Minimal first aid products in order to control blisters, monkey butt, joint inflammation, and chaffing. Small roll bathroom tissue. One pair Frogg Toggs. The expressed purpose should be to walk without delay to your residence and then recover as needed for follow on actions. Your feet may very well be in a very bad way at the end of this in addition to very serious joint stiffness/pain/swelling. I would stock your home to allow for expedient recovery.1 point

They didn’t get the County discount, and no County funds were used. So all this is about the fact that they may have used County computers during working hours to make the contacts? Who hasn’t done that at one time or another? Is it a violation to be on the net on those computers? RCSO has some big problems but I doubt this is one of them. If they were violating tax laws; they need to deal with that. But then there will be a bunch of people caught up in the investigation. I find it interesting that we watched a video of Deputies embellish a K9 hit on a car for PC to search and the Sherriff approved their actions. But we are supposed to be upset because the Sherriff’s family is involved in a business with the jail, or some Deputies bought some ammo on-line. Some people’s priorities are messed up.1 point
