A guy walked into a crowded bar, waving his 1911 Colt pistol and yelled, "I have a .45 Colt with an eight shot magazine, and I want to know who's been screwing my wife?" A voice from the back of the room called out... "You'll need more ammo!"9 points

Thousands showed up.....thousands of flags were flying.....the street was lined on both sides for miles.....over 800 Patriot Guard Riders. I'm sure everyone had a lump in their throat when the procession drove by. I know mine did. Rest in peace Sgt. David Allen Wyatt. Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice representing our country. Edited to include a video. This is the area I was at. Northgate Mall. The Patriot Guard Riders were amazing. The crowd you see on both sides of the road continued for the entire 18 or so miles where practical. Another thing is how quiet and respectful it was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i83pWp9RVgM7 points

Words can't describe how proud I am of my older brother. I get misty eyed just thinking about it. My brother has been through hell and back while in the Army. Just 48 hours after enlisting in the FL National Guard he was told he would be going on a 9-10 month deployment to Africa. During his 2nd tour in Iraq his Humvee drove over an IED and he was the only one in the vehicle to survive. Despite that, he recently decided to serve our country again my joining the guard. He was supposed to be my best man at my wedding in October but won't be able to join. I'm just proud to call him my brother and I wanted to share. http://www.baynews9.com/content/news/baynews9/news/article.html/content/news/articles/bn9/2015/7/23/soldier_deployment_f.html#.VbF7VPLGlQI.mailto7 points

Companies who stake their grip bushings should be forced to watch several repeat showings of The Sound of Music with Arabic over-dubbing as penance.6 points

The wife and I took our kids out today. I wanted the kids (9,11 and 17) to be part of this and hopefully gain some understanding of the sacrifice that others are making to give them such a good life. We were on the road side for about 3 hours today and the turn out was amazing but honestly, it was not at all surprising. I new that this town would turn out to show respect. Tuesday I will take the kids back out for Naval officer Randall Smith's funeral.4 points

What a bunch pu00ies our military must look like in the worlds eyes. Reckon what would happen to a fella who approached an Israeli military office of any kind? It's a big slap in the face, that's all it is.4 points

Well no matter what. Find a place to park and one of us will come get you. If it's too far to walk I'd be happy to pick you up.4 points

After having the stamp for almost a year, I finally, FINALLY got my first sbr build done. I got derailed from this build several times by house renovations and various other life events. All I need now is a CMT bcg. I forgot to put the charging handle in the rifle before I took the pictures as well. Oh well, you guys get the idea. As you can see, this is my TGO lower set that we have had for what, almost 2 years now? Parts used are: VLTOR imod stock kit CMMG lower build kit w/o fcg Geissele sd3g trigger Tango down bg-17 grip (love it) SLR Rifleworks 10" solo ultra lite hg SLR Rifleworks sentry 7 adjustable gas block Rainier Arms 10.5" select 5.56 barrel Eotech xps2 Im sure some of you notice the YHM Phantom QD muzzle brake on the end of the barrel. Just a hint of things to come shortly! Needless to say I cant WAIT to shoot it and get the gas block tuned. This thing should run like a sewing machine. Anyways on to the pics. Sorry for the lack luster cell phone pics. Im by no means a photographer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

So I've finally broke down and got a Glock. I've always been a 1911 fan boy but after having numerous folks twist my ear about the reliability, I decided to purchase my first Glock a G27 gen 4. I haven't got to shoot it yet, but I did make a new holster for it.2 points

I straddle the light and the dark. I love both! I will say Glocks are a boringly reliable though. I still love my 1911s too. A Springer GI resides on my side of the bed. My Glock 17 resides on my wife's side. She loved it so much back in 1990, that I gave it to her. Another reason I gave it to her, was to keep me from trading it off.2 points

Friday and the weekend is covered by "gang related" shootings that kill far more people but they never make the national news because it doesn't fit the agenda.2 points

This morning I stood guard at the recruiting center in Paris, TN. Made contact with the leaders of the guard duty, whom are in a group called the Oathkeepers (for which, I am not a member), I told them I'd do the duty Friday morning (today). Duty was simple was sitting out front of the center. The guard leaders requested that long guns not be seen, but whatever I had in my truck was fine. I had my AR-15 with three 30-round magazines available. I do have my permit to carry and carry concealed with my shirt over my Glock 17. As the office opened, I met with the Army recruiters, a SGT and SSG both with combat patches, one with a CIB. The SGT has the CIB but hasn't put it on, he also has a Purple Heart. They expressed their appreciation for me and told me to make myself at home. While at my station, a man in a truck drove up and got out with a bottle of cold water and thanked me for what I was doing. When the recruiters departed, I left since I was not going to be there to guard an empty building, I am there to protect the recruiters. I did not have any negative feedback or comments while I stood guard.2 points

1. Yes, but sometimes a grip bushing will be staked which would make the change tricky or even unwise to attempt. It's probably not, but I'd email/call Springfield and ask them if you're not sure. Brownells even sells a specific tool for the job...http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/power-tools-accessories/drill-bits/grip-bushing-staker-sku080644000-696-2869.aspx 2. Pretty easy if it's not staked. Be careful if you use a screwdriver to loosen/tighten the bushings. Some bushing notches are shallow and it's easy for a screwdriver to slip off. Again, Brownells sells a specific tool for the job...http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/screwdrivers-sets/magna-tip-bits/magna-tip-reg-1911-auto-bushing-driver-trade-bits-prod493.aspx Be careful not to over tighten and use blue loctite. Good luck! 3. Beats me. :shrug:2 points

Silencershop will begin offering a dealer program on 8/3. You'll be able to buy from a link to their website and the item will be shipped to your dealer of choice (if they participate). They have not shared the price list yet but I am excited to be able to offer the diverse selection more easily than I have in the past. They will have to collect sales tax but I am hopeful with their volume that they may be able to beat the current distributor's pricing. If the margin allows it may be an opportunity to buy from them and pick from their large selection and still save a few bucks in the process. I will share more when I know more just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Thank you!2 points

Looks like MTEMC started installing smart meters, said they sent out prior notice via mail and phone calls... Obviously not. They will be returning on Monday to remove mine :) If you have an implant of some sort, you may want to call them and tell them to skip your place before they put it in.1 point

I dunno, I ride the fence. On one hand, I don't like NOBODY telling me what to do. On the other hand, it seems extremely careless. As I posted earlier.....these things are computer controlled .....God knows a computer never malfunctioned and did something you didn't want it to. Suppose whatever keeps the copter oriented has a brain fart and shifts 90 degrees all the sudden? No sir, I don't think they should tell you not to do it, and I don't think people SHOULD be doing it. It's a shame common sense isn't wide spread, then this wouldn't be an issue.1 point

My wife and I will be at that one also sir. :up:1 point

A lot of the newer stuff coming out from Tooth and Nail recently is good. Icon for Hire, The Letter Black, Thousand Foot Krutch. Then of course you have the bands that have receive recognitions such as Skillet, POD and Switchfoot. A lot of folks discount some really good music because of the labels.1 point

The FAA will certainly have a problem with it. Federal regulations won't allow for the weaponization of any private flying vehicle. I guess they want that to be the sole domain of corporate members of the military-industrial complex :) That said, as I watched I found myself humming Alice's Restaurant, 'And the Sargent came over, pinned a medal on me, sent me down the hall, said, "You're our boy."'1 point

I believe the Loaded models use set screws and not standard screws. Make sure to use a good Allen wrench. On using blue Loctite, make a little puddle on a piece of plastic and dip your screws in it. DO NOT put several drops on your screws!!! They're never going to come out if you do.1 point
-
Use a proper screwdriver. One that is hollow ground and fits the slot perfectly. The slanted one from Walmart will bugger up your screws and bushings.1 point
-
Even if the current bushings are staked, all you need is a good flat blade screwdriver to remove them and install the new ones. :)1 point

The L.A. Times article that DaveTN linked, above, stated that: and that: So the guy didn't own the townhouse, his fiance did. Therefore, the police entered HER house and took a few hundred thousand dollars worth of property, which even they admit was not illegal, from HER home - apparently without her knowledge or consent. And a lot of folks are, apparently, not only okay with that but think it was the right thing to do? Wow.1 point

I don't know, it can be said that being armed is incidental to standing guard at the recruiting station. Either way, there is no way any LEO is going to interfere with them; the backlash would be swift and brutal. It sucks that it takes and incident such as this to bring some of these lame policies to light though. Edit: I meant to add, I don't think its good for us to criticize them for their choice of weapons and their add-ons, they at least took it upon themselves to get up there and do something. Maybe we need to contact them and bring them into the fold, then maybe they will either equip their weapons more proficiently or let us know why that's the way the like them. I have two bipods, I used them on and off for a bit early on, not because they were cool, but because every place I shot at had nothing to support my rifle for those long shots. I have since purchased bags, slings and even a lead sled so they go unused. I did notice one of them actually had a 300Blk, he showed the mag and he had some of what looked like Hornady 125gr SST in it.1 point

Theres just something inherently bad ass about that rig. It's like if Quigly did have much use for a revolver, thats how it would be decked out. I imagine it's tough finding holsters though? IWB probably next to impossible :D ...1 point

As I understand it the biggest use of sidearms in the military are special forces missions (unclear how often) and military police in some circumstances. And I am ok with that. What should simply be allowed is that all soldiers, after completing basic training and being moved to duty, should be allowed to carry a pistol. Their own would be fine. Issued would be fine. I don't care what it is or where it came from, but they should simply be allowed the choice of doing this. And that should over-ride 100% of all state laws until such time as their discharge.1 point
