Picked her up this afternoon! Didn't have a chance to do some good photo's yet, but even the bad one's make it look pretty decent. I have to admit, it is even better than I expected. The stock is incredible in person. I think I need medium instead of high rings, but I'll see how it goes. Now to just get out and shoot it. The build specs are: Action: Stiller Precision 2500x RBLP Barrel: Shilen Ratchet .900 Stock: Lidgard in Paduak Trigger: Flavio Fare' Tuner: Harrell Scope: Sightron SIII 10-50x60mm Gunsmith: Richard Gorham Action Bedding: Tom Meredith Rest: Arnold Machine Killough Shooting Sports is where I bought all of the components and they did the ammo testing.6 points

Nothing that this asshat says any more surprises me. He shocks me at times with his pure audacity, but he doesn't surprise me with the content of his words.4 points

What about the comments about it being a dangerous weapon and how many of them are on the street? That seemed out of place to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

So, dislocated my shoulder earlier this week. I got lost in a bad part of town. There was a big group of thugs getting ready to attack this young woman. Well, of course I couldn't sit back and watch that happen, so I cleaned house. Then, while finding my way home I came across a grizzly bear getting ready to eat two small kids and I had to save them and dislocated my shoulder while pulling the bears teeth out. Well, at least that's the official story. The truth - the cat pissed me off. I threw a hand towel at him and my shoulder dislocated. Aging sucks - really it sucks!3 points

At his dog and pony show on gun control last night, Dear Leader accused Americans of being paranoid about government takeovers, as were our revolutionary founders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk9l3brCenI I can only paraphrase Patrick Henry's quote before the House of Burgesses in 1765 against Britain's abusive policies: "If this be treason [conspiracy], make the most of it."3 points

That gun sure would look good with a UTG scope on it. Maybe an NC Star red dot.3 points

Best laid plans always go to crap when bullets start flying. Do not overthink the scenarios, especially since they will change immediatly, you can be asleep, they can come in through windows, etc. A generic plan will work, get somewhere out of the line of fire, have a rally point and quick access to your gun. My family's plan is my wife grabs the baby and runs to the back closet with some guns and I get some guns and shoot homies in the face Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk3 points

It's good to war game and come up with a general reaction plan, but trying to get super specific is counterproductive. Just identify priorities of work and what primary role one serves; for example, I'm primarily responsible for physical defense, while my wife is responsible for securing and evacuating the children. A scenario may occur where those roles need to be reversed, but at least we have identified what the priorities are so we can focus on those no matter the circumstances. It isn't like a movie, and no plan survives first contact with the enemy. Just identify what the priorities are, who is generally responsible for what, and have an evacuation plan as well as a link up plan.3 points

No way I'd want/trust that. Theres been people modding AK triggers like that for years. It's reckless. The rifle ONLY needs to fire when pressed. Anything else is just dangerous.2 points

I would think 4 people attacking would be better than 1 person attacking and 3 moving to cover (which likely doesn't exist in your home). Women can and should attack just as you would. Even throwing the first thing they find in their hands into an attackers face would buy you time to draw and shoot. Remember that loosing a home invasion fight likely is worse for women than men. I don't have a daughter, but I'd much rather my son be murdered in a violent counter attack attempting to save his family than get raped and then get murdered without any opposition. Teach your kids to be vicious warriors and fight dirty. If the 15 year old can't help attack she should be on her phone to 911 as it is likely already glued to her hand while moving to a trauma kit. But that's just me. In the end it's your family and I think you are doing great just having a weaponized mind and keeping defensive tools in easy reach.1 point

If you think 300 rounds is a large number in a single visit, then you haven't been to the range with a lot of TGOers. :) You'll be fine. If you were shooting north of a 1,000 between cleanings, then it might make a difference.1 point
-
Yep. Accident waiting to happen. Wait until a stressful situation occurs and all the years of learned muscle memory to let off the trigger kicks in and bam another round downrange whether you wanted to or not.1 point

fire, chemically speaking, is actually a reaction that produces only water and carbon dioxide as "residue". Other "residue" isn't from the fire, its left over from the fuel. Not that this helps any in practice, but the fault is the fuel, not the fire.1 point

My kids are little, having them run a couple blocks isn't realistic. The neighbor's driveway puts the physical barrier of a tree line and a house between them and our house.1 point

Lol! All true. I know the sayings "different strokes for different folks" and "it takes all kinds", but at some point there needs to come a time where we can admit something is just crap, lol!1 point

Coming from a manufacturing background... it's not uncommon, EVERYTHING is JIT (just in time) these days. Thank Dell for being so successful. From big to small companies, everything is cut to the bone in the name of profits. Especially if they're a small, hand-made manuf. company... they likely only have a day or two's worth of leather on the floor, also. I work(ed) in the printing biz, and rather than get paper in-stock and on the floor, we waited for the delivery truck daily, juggling jobs and priorities, to the detriment of production efficiency, because we wouldn't get the paper for that job until.... AND this was our 'house sheet', not some exotic custom hand-crafted paper. Of course we'd use the paper eventually, but rather than tie up credit @ our supplier, we'll move things around until we get that paper on tomorrow's truck. To make matters worse, 'cold' paper fresh off the truck runs very different than one that's been on your floor acclimatizing for 24-hours (affects final quality of the product we had to ship, and impacted efficiency).True story. Baffled me daily. It's one of the reasons some folks have taken to stocking up on food in their own homes for emergency preparedness (while I don't mean specifically those w/ buckets of freeze-dried staples in their closets, they've read the same information): most grocery stores have at best, 12-24 hours worth of supply on-site. I've lived through several blizzards where you're holed up for 2-3 days before you can exit your dwelling! It's just something I do every fall in preparation. For some folks, the concept of not being able to drive to Kroger's for a quart of milk is preposterous! Just-In-Time. It's the new way of doing things (until it fails spectacularly, but that's a conversation for a different forum here! :D ) - K1 point

If there is proof of a 'conspiracy' to violate the law and the rights of citizens, then all involved should be charged criminally if possible. If not they should be personally liable for all costs related to this. If these guys can't be charged under state law, we need to press the legislature to add criminal penalties to violating part 39-17-13xx. We can get charged with a felony for mistakenly walking onto school property, or mistakenly getting too close to a school soccer game in a public park, but government officials can conspiracy to deny us rights granted under the state constitution and not face criminal charges is obscene.1 point

I can shoot sub MOA groups with a sub MOA rifle and the correct ammo at 100m. That is a true test of the capabilities. A sub MOA rifle at 1000m though, I have roughly a 40% chance of getting a first round hit (based on history). This is due to varying winds over the course of a kilometer. There is absolutely no way to accurately account for it, which is why a spotter utilizes trace. I've been on a 1000m range, where the instructors popped smoke grenades every 200m. The wind was different at each distance, sometimes going the opposite direction as wind at different distances. The best one can do is make a call based on the mirage and guesstimate based on experience. But he'll never get it correct the first time; at least not often. The only way to judge the performance of a rifle at that distance is if you have a kilometer long vacuum.1 point

Well it's one thing to get caught carrying past a sign with the gun secured on your person, it's a whole different deal to leave it lying around where a child can get ahold of it. I suspect he'd still be in hot water even if the place wasn't posted.1 point

I'm really glad this was resolved. He's a cool guy If it hadn't, at least he and his son could get jobs as shade trees.1 point

I'm almost positive after waiting all this time, I messed up! On the screen where you pick product type/model/etc and then at bottom you put "Trust Name" I didn't include the city and state! Edit: I was thinking nervously that the city and state that are engraved under my trust name were supposed to be in the Licensee/Permittee box along as part of my trust name. But the top of my trust states "The ##### Trust" but not city or state. I just checked with John Wells and he said I did it correctly WHEW!! Thanks for the help John!1 point

haha I was wearing a UK t-shirt the day we closed on the house here in Tn. The previous owner couldn't wait to hand me the key to my new home. It was a BRIGHT ORANGE KEY WITH A "T" in the middle of it. He told me I wasn't getting in the house with being a Tennessee fan. :) I do have some UT stuff though, my family all lives in Sevierville, so they always give me UT stuff for Christmas trying to convert me. :)1 point

Welcome aboard. You headed south when you left Kentucky, so you did good. BTW, those UK t-shirts will come in handy for cleaning guns. :D1 point

well 15 calendar days is up on the 6th... so we will know shortly , what happened or what to do next. FFL said he will hold guns for me no problem until I can get this figured out.... Mrs. already saying "just give up and get money back"... but told her of importance of her learning to protect herself if I ever die and don't comeback again... Had her watch The movie " the Perfect Guy" where he stalks the crap out of the lady only after a few dates... she said "maybe we should get the gun thing handled" LOL1 point
