  1. If it's not too much trouble I'd like for ya'll to take a second and say a few prayers for our servicemen and women abroad.  I've got two sons over there. One in the navy on his second deployment in the south china sea aboard the USS Stockdale DDG 106 and another on his third tour in the marines rescuing downed pilots in Iraq with the 2nd battalion 7th marine regiment 1st marine division

  3. First off just let me say that Willis really sucks. I had been cured of my knife addiction a long time ago. Then willis started offering all these autos and I relapsed pretty hard. While buying all these autos I kept drooling over some of these custom knives our own members were making. So when Sybo posted that he had a knife he needed to sell I jumped on it. The pics just do not do this knife justice. It is a fantastic looking knife. You can tell some real though went into the handle because it feels right when you hold it. It is really sharp. The back of both of my hands have no hair left. I can't tell you how pleased I am at how this turned out. It is a real work of art. And now for some crappy cell phone pics... 4. Went with my nephew this morning, these two birds flew across a creek we were set up next to and went straight to beating up on our jake decoy. Doubling up on those turkeys with my nephew will be a great memory for both of us.

  5. After looking at the recent posts of BRD, or black rifle disease I had a realization. I have a much older, but equally debilitating one, Wheel Gun Disease or WGD. Although I have owned many Smiths I am partial to Rugers. I love looking at the AR pics you guys have, but I wouldn't get rid of my revolvers for one. I have included pics of my Ruger Wheel Guns, or Sears Catalog edition of Gun Porn. Hope you enjoy.

  8. I will be driving from Clarksville to Louisville on the 20th of May for the first day of the exhibits at the NRA annual meeting. I had three buddies lined up to travel with me, but two have backed out. I'm offering a ride up there early in the morning and back late that night to anyone* that wants to go with and is reasonably close to my route of travel. Veterans from the Fort Campbell area are preferred. *Disclaimer you must not be a hipster liberal waste of space time vampire full time all time welfare recipient to ride in my truck. There will be a red blooded American bacon eating test to weed out any radical extremist muslims and vegans.

  16. I just finished reading Cyberstorm by Matthew Mather. It was free on my Kindle, so I gave it a quick read. I went to Amazon after reading it and was amazed to see that it got 4.5 stars.   Don't be tempted to read this book. I would give it two stars. The author knows almost nothing about survival.  It's set in NYC. The internet goes down and within a day, the power goes out. Then, the water goes off on day 5. Conveniently, the main character's best friend is a prepper who has a generator that runs on gasoline and diesel. He also has a .38 with a safety. The power goes out at the start of day two and the looting doesn't start until day 8. He makes a new friend who is a computer hacker who writes an app so cell phones can text each other over short distances without an internet connection. Somehow, thousands of New Yorkers are able to load this app without the internet and charge their cell phones by connecting to car batteries. When a bunch of thugs steal some of their stashed food as they are returning on the street, passersby are able to stop the violence by taking their pictures on a cell phone and threatening to send them to the police.    The book spends an agonizingly long time discussing the weaknesses of the power grid and internet and the government's inability to protect either, but after realizing that the author knew nothing about prepping, I didn't trust his information of those topics.    On second thought, I give it one star.

  35.     My wife's AR has a TRS-25, with the standard AR riser.  It was a package deal from PSA a year or two ago.  It's absolute co-witness and seems to be fine.  The PA red dot on my AR is lower 1/3 cowitness, which I like better.  The PA also has a bit better optics.  The view and dot are both more crisp.  Both rifles have flip-up rear sights with standard front sights.

  42. I just read that and was actually coming on here to post about it.  I am thoroughly bummed.  I think he was my favorite of his group/genre of Country music - even edging out the great Johnny Cash.  In fact, he was one of my favorite singers of any genre, period.  Loved his voice.  I got to see him in concert a few years back along with Willie Nelson and Ray Price on their 'Last of the Breed' tour.

  43.   More than one person in the thread has said that they don't think it was Glenn who got the bat because Maggie would have screamed.  The same probably would have been true of Sasha if Abraham were the one killed - after all, they were just talking about having babies a few hours earlier.  I swear, though, that I thought I DID hear a woman cry out right after the first hit with Lucille.  If it was Glenn then - given the physical condition Maggie was in - Maggie may well have let out a short cry and passed out.  Further, remember that we saw the whole thing from the point of view of the person who was getting their head bashed in.  Having one's grey matter turned into pate by a barbed-wire wrapped Louisville Slugger would probably play havoc with one's perceptions.  In other words, Maggie (or anyone else) might have been screaming her guts out and the person being beaten to death might not have even noticed.   I like Glenn's character.  I really do.  That said, of the options available at the time I actually hope it was Glenn who was killed because...well, I'll just say that I think that would be the death that would move the story forward in the best/most interesting manner.  Killing Abraham would not have the same gut-punch effect on the viewer (or probably even the majority of the group) that killing Glenn (or Darryl) would have - and I still think Darryl is one of the two best/most interesting characters on the show (Carl being the other - yeah, I meant 'Carl', not 'Carol', although I know a lot of folks will disagree.)  Aaron would be the obvious choice for killing a 'main' cast member without really killing a 'main' cast member but, again, would anyone really care all that much?  I guess it would be 'symbolic' in a way as he is the only long-term Alexandrian who is with the members of the group who are being threatened and as he was previously the guy who went out looking for other survivors and brought them back to Alexandria, including Rick's group but there wouldn't be much of a visceral/emotional reaction (on the part of the audience) to him buying it.  No spoiler here but I will say that the show has been sticking closer to the comic storyline, lately (not completely but more so) and if that trend continues Eugene has too much to contribute and his character has too much 'growing' left to do to cut his story line short.   I think that one of the clues as to who got the bat was the 'first person' view and the fact that we kept seeing from the first person view of one of the folks who were being held inside the train car - meaning I think it was one of that group who died.  That would mean it was Daryl, Glenn, Michonne, Sasha or Rosita.  I don't think Darryl got the bat because he had already been shot and was looking pretty bad.  Why 'make an example' of someone who looks like he just might not survive his wounds/infection, etc. anyhow?  I could be wrong, though.    Michonne could be 'the one', I guess.  The scene is reminiscent of when The Governor had her and Herschel on their knees outside the prison.  The Governor killed Herschel (with Michonne's sword) but she managed to get away.  It would kind of be a 'full circle' kind of thing if she were killed while in the same position - on her knees - by another psycho leader of an enemy group.  Of course, that might not be such a good choice for the storyline because it might be the straw that breaks Rick's sanity for good, even worse than when Lori died.   Rosita could be 'the one' but I don't think so.  As with Aaron, would her death really have that great an impact on the audience (well, it would for those of us who think she is mega-hot in that tied-up shirt and pigtails looking like a post-apocalyptic stripper whose gimmick is the militaristic version of a naughty schoolgirl but...)   Sasha could be 'it' and I do think there are some, possible clues that lean toward her.  For one, when Tyreese (her brother) was bitten and died they kept showing things from his 'first person' point of view.  It would make sense, then, to reflect that if Sasha - his sister - were killed.  Further, we had Abraham at the end of the previous episode talking about how it was scary letting anyone that close considering the world in which they lived.  That could have been a bit of fore-shadowing.  Of course, unless Abraham completely blacked out, I can't imagine him kneeling there and letting Sasha get her head bashed in without doing something regardless of the threats made by Negan.   So, that brings us back to Glenn.  His death would have a huge impact on the group as well as the audience.  Here is a guy whose main skill set at the first of the series was escaping - getting in and out of infested areas without getting bitten, etc.  He has dodged 'certain' death at least twice this season, alone.  He never killed a living human being until this season - and didn't he and Heath have a discussion about that very thing and something about there being a price to pay for doing so before they went to raid the Savior outpost?  Then the recurring theme leading up to the head bashing - and even Negan, himself said it - was all about paying a price for one's actions.  His death would be not only the ultimate example of paying that 'price' but would have a huge impact on Rick and Daryl as well as Maggie.  After all, Rick made the decision to raid the Saviors and start planned killing of them in the first place - which is what put Glenn on his knees in front of Negan.  Glenn also saved Rick's life when Rick first came to Atlanta.  Not only saved his life but was instrumental with re-uniting him with his family and really starting his entire post-apocalyptic journey.  That is pretty huge, then, if Glenn buys it and it is largely Rick's fault.  Further, despite their early clashes because of Darryl's rascism-by-osmosis because of Merle, pretty early on Darryl was willing to risk his life to chase the folks who kidnapped Glenn and get Glenn back.  Now, Glenn is in this predicament largely because Darryl went running off on his own and Glenn (along with Michonne, Sasha and Rosita) came out to try and talk some sense into him.  Darryl also drew (unplanned) first blood from the Saviors with that rocket launcher.  Further, if Negan knows that it was Maggie and Carol who killed his people at the meat packing plant (and why wouldn't he as the whole thing was discussed by the Saviors - his people - on their walkie-talkies?) he might see killing Glenn as a way to punish Maggie since he knows (due to Glenn's outburst when he threatened to kill Maggie) that the two of them are together.  Along with all of those 'negative' impacts, there would also be a chance to throw in a 'hope for the future' theme in that part of Glenn would live on in the baby he and Maggie have conceived (if Maggie and the baby survive.)   As far as Carol and Morgan swooping in and saving the day, I don't think that will happen.  I don't think the day is going to be saved.  I think Negan is going to do exactly what he said - kill one of them and force the rest of them to work for him.  I think he is going to be the 'big bad' for a long time to come, probably for the next, two seasons or so if not longer (assuming the show lasts that long.)

  47. Of course, the very same thing could be said for Christians.    Theologically, No. Their allegiance is to Jesus and not the Constitution.   Religiously, No. No other religion is accepted. Jesus said "I am -the- way, -the- truth and -the- light. As pastors love to point out, he didn't say one of many.    Scripturally, No. His allegiance is to Christianity, God's laws and church doctrine. I remember hearing numerous pastors preach about following God's law, even when it conflicts with the laws of the world. Kim Davis was an example of this, breaking the law because of what she believed.   Geographically*, No.  His allegiance is to Israel, for Yahweh is the God of Israel. Many Christians make a pilgrimage to the holy land every year, and a large portion of Christianity takes it's marching orders directly from The Vatican.    Socially, No. Christianity teaches to be in the world, but not of the world. That's a fairly clear directive that Christians should 'maintain their distance' so to speak.    Politically, No. Again, Christians are instructed to follow God's law above all others. When they vote to enact legislation based of the Bible, they are forcing their religious beliefs and morals onto everyone. While they haven't yet required people to pray the sinner's prayer or go to jail, forcing others to behave in accordance with your interpretation of religious right and wrong by making it law is conversion by force, no different than forcing someone to convert at gunpoint.    Domestically, No. Christians are instructed that adulterous wives, heretics, blasphemers, etc should be stoned to death. They are also allowed to keep slaves, but instructed to be good masters.    Intellectually, No. Christians cannot accept the Constitution because it does not follow God's laws. It is based on principles that can be found in the Bible, but can also be found in the texts used by a wide variety of religions and societies all the way back to Hammurabi's Code. Christians feel they must control the country by limiting everything not specifically spelled out in the Constitution in accordance with their religion.    Philosophically, No. Christianity does not allow freedom of religion, as it says it is the only way. Christians have fought numerous battles to have their religious symbols placed in government buildings.    Spiritually, No. The Pledge of Allegiance was originally written to say "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all". Christians were not okay with such a secular pledge and in 1954 managed to have the words "Under God" added to it.        *Geographically? How can anyone be a geographically good anything?  :bowrofl:

  48.   People avoid these topics because they are too sensitive and get hurt feelings, or they have hurt someones feelings and it came back and bit them somehow.   Agreeing to disagree is uncommon these days. Open political & religious discourse is what this country was founded on. If I say something its up to you to like it or not, You should be able to say that's not for me etc without me getting upset. The problem comes when these conversations go beyond polite discourse and turn very personal. Both sides can do this and sadly do too often.   I know what I believe and I know mostly why I believe it. I will listen to anything others say nicely, and I hope that they will do the same for me. Great progress has been made through this process. Sadly many children never learn this and now spend half their life with hurt feelings. Respect others just as you would want to be respected. We CAN live together peacefully, and learn greatly from each other if we try to.   Rant off... 0 warning points so far...
