The manufacturer issues an “upgrade notice” (or whatever they called them in the past), the lawsuits are paid, and the belief that a gun can’t fire without pulling the trigger is still safe. Three people stood there and watched this happen. I have no doubt they know what happened. But I have serious doubts we will ever hear the story from them.3 points

I was playing around with a feature but decided to go ahead and offer it to Benefactors, Vendors, and Moderators as a perk. You can do when you view your profile now. You're limited to a 64KB photo, which should be sufficient if you do a little editing of your pics offline before trying to upload them.2 points

Well I finally sat down and did some financial planning. Looks like next year I can retire at 54 and live comfortably for about 11 minutes.2 points

On the Ranger station broadcast "net call, net call......another tourist has afforded us the opportunity for tender Bison burgers tonight, they taste great so don't be late! Tight green shorts are optional"2 points

Sounds more to me like the Rangers just wanted to make a point. Why is it that when bears get habituated to people they go out of their way to retrain their fear of people and not much effort was made to save this animal. Even if the herd didn't eventually take it in, I am sure there are more than a few sanctuaries it could have been moved to. No, they just wanted to make a point and get some media exposure about this problem, and it is a problem, and since Bison have become so plentiful, well...2 points

Get the rubberized cork gasket sheet stock from O'Reilleys auto parts. Then chamfer a 38 brass to sharp edge. Tap base with mallet to cut. Do 3 or 4 and then push out of case using a bamboo skewer stick through primer hole. That is basically what I did and it worked great. Now I just use #4 blanks from Home Depot without any media. The concussion puts them on the ground where you can step on them.2 points

Yea, definitely appreciate the effort put forth to keep us sharing and arguing about important and totally stupid subjects. Keep up the good work, we will be right here even if it means staring at the maintenance screen while you get it running the way you want it.2 points

I picked up a Kimber Mountain Ascent in 308. The Mountain Ascent is the lightest production bolt action big game rifle available today. It weighs 5lbs 5ozs. It is really light. It has a kevlar/carbon fiber stock. The barrel is luted. The bolt is spiral fluted with the bolt handle hollowed out to remove more weight. Have not shot it yet. I have to figure out what glass to put on it. I can't decide if I want a silver scope to match or a black scope for the contrast. Here are a couple of pics.2 points

Saw this post earlier on The Firearm Blog... http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/05/17/movie-magic-magpul-moe-handguard-muzzle-device/ The thing that really cracked me up, though, was this brilliant comment but one of the peanut gallery:1 point

I want to see this crappy movie just because of the modified weaver 360 kneeling comment AND the hand guard.1 point

After the problems with mine, I looked for how to change mine and never could find it. I am on my phone though. Just got it changed though through your announcement link at the top of the page.1 point

Thanks. I am a bit of a dog freak so it fits me. It isn't my Golden, but looks just like mine did.1 point

To each his own, pay what it's worth to you. I have plenty of what ever cal. I shoot. If I see anything at a good price I buy it. If it's on the high side I pass on it. I'm at a point now if I want shoot I get ammo out of the safe and don't worry about having to replace it a.s.a.p. and it's a good feeling.1 point
-
That's the crux I guess for me. It isn't about the money. I prefer to shoot 22's over 223 or most centerfires regardless of the cost. I don't buy from gougers as I don't shoot HV or the most common ammo you find at walmart, etc. I stick with standard velocity for my suppressors so it is usually a bit higher anyway and I can buy it online in bulk. I shoot some centerfire, but mostly benchrest type shooting. I am not a tactitool kind of guy so even my AR's are bench guns for varmints.1 point

My suggestion is a better way of doing this. Post numbers are not concrete; they can change depending on moderator actions taken in a thread or if a thread is split apart.1 point

My day started with a visit to TGO around 6:15AM right about which time the forum decided to puke because of a corrupt search index. I worked on that until I absolutely had to walk out the door and head to my job, and then worked on it a bit more for another hour or so between meetings, to get it back online. At one point I literally had to completely obliterate the forum database and restore it from a backup I took right before the outage occurred (premonition???) and even then it looked it it wasn't going to come back online. We've only been around since 2007 and have 25,000+ members and several million posts and private messages. All of which flashed before my eyes a few times while trying like hell to get it to work again. But hey! Here we are! Go, technology! I swear I might become Amish and swear this stuff off one of these days. Until then, there's beer. How was your day?1 point

Playing devil's advocate: Let's completely suspend disbelief say something mechanical actually did fail and there was absolutely NO human error on the part of the guy with the gun. What happens next? Do they throw the department's armorer under the bus for letting the gun get in a state of disrepair? Do they ban SAO/striker-fired weapons due to the inherent danger of having the hammer/striker already cocked?1 point

I bet he was holstering and something made its way into the trigger guard, perhaps even his finger.1 point

The investigation will look into finding out what circumstances surrounded the weapon discharge. It is unknown if he was touching the weapon at the time it went off. What you wanna bet he was touching the weapon when it went off. I wish the officer a speedy recovery, but this type of statement simply feeds into the anti-gun narrative that "guns just go off killing people"...ie it's the evil tool that's dangerous, not the tool fiddling with the gun... 14 years as an officer...Sometimes it's a matter of familiarity breeding complacency...1 point

Great looking knife. If the pics give the 'true' color I like that orange G10. In the pic, it looks to have sort of a brownish or 'burnt' orange look more than what I usually think of as 'blaze orange'.. Almost looks like some kind of exotic wood.1 point

Not a good idea to try that without heat. Heat will help to soften it so that the pop isn't violent and will help to keep the paint from cracking if it isn't already.1 point

Okay, now that I know I was indeed viewing in the mobile version, I'm definitely going to have to disagree in the differences. With TT I get a tab selection to allow me to view: Trending, Subforums, Timeline (most recent posts), Unread, Subscribed, and my favorite, Participated. In the various sections I get a preview of the last viewed post in all the threads, and if there are any pictures in the OP, it shows that too in the preview. I also like their notification feature that tells me the specific notification and which forum it came from with a swipe. Also, on my TT home page I can quickly switch between various forums with one touch. And as you mentioned, the ability to embed pics directly off the phone. So in all I've found TT very useful for me. YMMV.1 point

Have you tried the Aguila Colibri.22? This is a primer-only load that is easier to find and cheaper than CB caps. Very low pressure and has worked well in the antique .22s.1 point

Yup, quickly accurate on COM to 150 yards or more with just cheek weld with iron sights, plenty of velocity with 5.56 out of 10.5" barrel or even shorter with softpoints or other expanding bullets, with 20-30 quick chances too. :) Can do it for 'bout same price as a Glock, so if stolen it's not the worst financial blow. Also, can legally carry it outside the vehicle in TN in normal times if necessary, and do it quite gray man if you keep it in something like this: Here's mine, lives in the above racquet case behind the seat in my toy truck: - OS1 point
