Before the habu would take off from Kadena. it was amazing that the local Japanese new roughly what time wheels up was and would gather at the end of the runway with cameras supporting lenses as big as your leg to get snapshots of the take off. I actually own a sr 71 Unobtainium piece that was made into a wristband by a former SR 71 machinist. Complete with the Lockheed Martin skunk works skunk in the center.7 points

Just got back from the mailbox with my IDPA Tactical Journal. Congratulations Justin Cooper. Very nice article. Now I can say "Yeah, I shot against him. He only beat me by 125 secs".2 points

No, it's not what you expect. So it's raining at my place, and I'm in charge of the little one today, so I improvised myself some pew pew. Best 5 shot group at 20 yards, shot with my Crosman m4-177 pellet gun, while sitting on my back porch with my 90lb Lab in my lap and my other pup rubbing against me like a cat. Pretty sure we need to work on my Lab's breath control to tighten these groups up some My wife got me this air rifle last year on my birthday as sort of a joke since I enjoy AR's so much. I like it, it's fun to feel like a kid again sometimes! Happy Saturday all!2 points

Kahrman is as dumbass, don't be like Kahrman. No matter how long you have been doing something, always pay or attention or you can make mistakes. Last season I could not get my muzzleloader to pattern very well. In the past I had no problem getting two inch groups at 80 yards, which is not bad for a muzzleloader. Last season I could not get my groups under 7-8" at 50yards. I hunted only in thick stuff where I had short shots. Didn't get a deer and at the end of muzzleloader season I put it back in the safe. Couple of weeks ago I getting all my deer rifles out and giving them a good cleaning. I grab the muzzleloader and realize it is still loaded from last season. There was not a primer but I did leave the powder and sabot in the barrel. I pull my preach plug and push the pellets and sabot out. Two pellets come out and when they hit the workbench each pellet broke in half. So I am sitting there wondering why there were 4 pellets in my gun. Then it hit me. I had been sighting in and hunting with 200 grains of powder instead of 100. I shoot 777 50/50 pellets. The box has compartments that are 5 deep and ten across. 50 compartments that hold 2 50 grain pellets each. I had used the pipe cleaner and picked up two pellets thinking it was one pellet. A magnum load is considered 150 grains and I was shooting 200 grains. No wonder I could not get it to pattern. Well this season I plan on going back to 100 grains and hopefully get my groups back down to a respectable size.1 point

How many of you would like to see the current no gun sign law penalty changed from this: (c) (1) It is an offense to possess a weapon in a building or on property that is properly posted in accordance with this section. (2) Possession of a weapon on posted property in violation of this section is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by fine only of five hundred dollars ($500). To something like this: (c) Possession of a weapon on posted property shall not be a criminal act but may subject the person to denial to the premises or removal from the premises. I would also add this sort of clause to the school property no gun law so that people with permits cannot be charged with a weapons charge but schools can still ask people to leave. In my opinion this is what the legislature should have done this year instead of spending the time on the silly no gun sign liability law that got in the news and also changing up the wording of the no gun signs. Is there a way that we can get the NRA and TFA to push for this next year at least for the posted property law and possibly for the school property gun law? I think it strikes a balance between keeping the good people with permits out of legal trouble and also schools and other property owners not losing the ability to ask people to leave. Missouri and Kansas basically have these sort of exceptions for carrying on school property and other posted property.1 point

Seeing if anyone else used Instagram. I don't get into many of the other apps but I do like it for searching tags especially for gun porn. I've recently been using the tag #tngunowners. Hoping maybe that could be a "thing" for some of us on there. And for those of you not on it give it a try. I've had it for a few years. Just search any tags you're looking for. Like if you want to search for Glock 19's search "#glock19" and so on. Lots of good pics.1 point

Actually, the LCR should fire 32acp reliably enough for target practice. The 32acp will be slightly hotter than 32s&w long. Sometimes you can find European 32acp ammo for $15/50. http://www.sgammo.com/product/32-auto-acp-ammo/1000-round-case-32-auto-73-grain-fmj-ammo-made-geco-hungary1 point

Well I can't comment on the cognitive reasoning ability of he person who managed to get himself run over but will agree with 50%'s allegation of a failed Darwin Award Candidate. But FWIW it was a real guy and there were pictures of people picking him up in their arms to carry him to safety. That said a lot about their understanding of basic first aid so all in all it was a bunch of people who wouldn't be making it in a non social welfare society. I don't believe any of those protestors have a clue what would happen to them in a true social collapse but I doubt most would fair well at all.1 point

I hope video taken by BLM is used to put the shooters in prison. Did the test dummy get destroyed? Because I know a real person would not stand in traffic like that and then be surprised they got ran over? Had to be a test dummy.1 point

I looked at them long enough. I pulled the trigger on one last weekend. I'm going to try and shoot it tomorrow and I'm already looking into after market triggers and springs along with a new charging handle. The 5 30 round mags get here Friday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

BTW, Mike's son, Matthew has taken the helm at Sipsey Street Irregulars, and so far doing an admirable job. (He is Army, and probably won't appreciate the naval metaphors!) By his own admission, he is less political than Mike, but is focused on the praxis type of posts, tactics and gear. He is perhaps more his father's son than even he realizes.1 point

Yes-ish. I only shoot 2 kinds of auto-loaders right now, 1911's and Glocks. The 43 will be just like all my other Glock triggers, keeps things simple. That was the only reason I got rid of the Cm9 in first place, too many triggers to master. If another company with better ergos made the selection Glock does, I'd own them. The one unicorn is the 10mm, gen 4 brought me back into the fold. I was completely Glock-less for about 3years after getting rid of my G3 17. 1911's are natural for me, no work to shoot or be comfortable, but they don't fit weight and size wise into my daily routine well. I've shot and tried the Sig 938, it's not a 1911, the safety is short and hard to click off like standard 1911 and lacks the grip safety. At this point, I have to at least "try" a 43. eta: I don't pocket carry, so the slightly larger profile doesn't apply. IWB only.1 point

The pf9 was not a good pistol. I have had several p32's and loved every one of them. I don't know if I could justify spending more on a p32 than I could buy a LCP for, and LCP's are cheap now.1 point

Sometimes I feel that I have to tippy-toe around with my words. These days the slightest little thing will set some people off. And I have been told that I am by several people, not here, because I may have sounded unsympathetic to the BLM movement. But mostly from the people on Facebook. I just love to torment them with my unabashed foul comments. Actually was told I was racist because I didn't vote for Barack there, and then found it was one of my less conservative neighbors who had said it. lol I love my neighborhood. lol1 point

You got to take on a lot more stupid, and a heavy progressive agenda. Then, everybody without an Obama bumper sticker is racist. It's the Democrats' favorite word, pretty much thrown at all non-Democrats.1 point

I wonder if you would feel the same if your wife was jutting in a car minding her own business and some guy came up and pointed at rifle directly at her. I talked to my neighbor some more and rifle was pointed directly at her. When she said it was not pointed at her she just meant that he did not have it shouldered with his hand on the trigger. Even though he was cradling the rifle in his arms, the muzzle was pointed right at her chest.1 point

.38 Military & Police. Serial number puts it at between 1948-1951. The range for those years was C1-C223998 so you can kinda guesstimate an exact year. That sorta looks like a 5" barrel. A fine looking revolver!1 point

I try to maintain a cool head in seeing some of these protest, counter protest, or whatever. But I must say this video physically sickens me. First the person getting hit. I've seen and heard that first hand. It's not pretty. Secondly, the crowd reaction was abominable. Expected in the high temper situations we see nowadays, but still nonetheless way out of control. Thirdly, the shooting at the lady who came back to help(?). That was uncalled for and totally evil. An action born of pure hatred and a quest for revenge. I won't pretend to say I understand all that has gone on within the African-American community, for I don't. All I do know is that the political machinations of the last 10-20 years have created a divide within this country and all its people that we may not recover from. I pray that is not the case. But back on point, this is the first I've heard of this incident, and I sort of live on the internet and news sites lately. Maybe the wrong ones, but all new to me. I am undeniably heartened by your analysis and observations on the incident. Yes I know this makes me sound like...well a racist. And how I hate that word. It has divided more people lately than the presidential race. I grew up in a rural area that was a hard core, traditional, old school democratic, and in a family that was the same. I won't lie to you or anyone else that I didn't get raised in an environment that used some pretty strong language against "people of color", (and that's another phrase I'm not happy with.) or have some attitudes that I've had to work hard to overcome. I believe I have. But I grew out of that, and have been totally dismayed by all the hatred that has been reborn recently. I don't have an answer, and probably shouldn't even comment on all this. But I'm so very happy to see people try and overcome the impulse reactions to violence against one another. Yes I know the video didn't show that. But reactions here do. And I have a little hope.1 point

Many departments do not want people who know anything about guns....they want social workers. As such they arm the disinterested and apathetic and turn them loose with predictable results..... The issue here is one of control by whoever was running this exercise. In the end SOMEONE has to be responsible for there being NO live ammo on scene and be responsible to make SURE that every single person with a firearm only has blanks in their mags. (Which goes back to no live ammo on scene). But it is not like this does not happen in the military too.... http://kitup.military.com/2011/09/why-we-spot-check-our-magazines-before-during-and-after-blank-fire-training.html http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/795506/posts http://www.safety.marines.mil/Portals/92/Lessons%20Learned/Blank%20Fire%20LL_20140211.pdf1 point

My wife and I have this unspoken understanding. I don't comment on how much fabric she buys or new sewing/embroidery machine from time to time and she doesn't comment on my ammo and gun purchases. It has worked for years. It helps that we are both fairly cheap when it comes to spending money or it could run us into the poor house. For those that don't think it is a fair trade off, I'm pretty sure she is ahead of me on spending but not as much as she use to be since we moved to a free state.1 point

Smith & Wesson gives $500,000 to fight Massachusetts assault rifle ban. Sig Sauer donated $100,000. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/aug/04/smith-wesson-massachusetts-assault-rifles-ban-contribution That a good thing. Though I doubt it will do much good. They should have put that money towards a move to another state. If I were a state legislator here I would push for giving S&W and any other gun manufacturer’s free property, and tax breaks.1 point
