Any of y’all can call me. Anytime. I’ve lost too many people that I care deeply about. Some here. Way too soon. There are a whole lot of reasons for that - and there aren’t any easy answers. It sucks. But the heart of the matter is if you need someone to listen, or someone to yell at, or someone to cry with - I’ll be there. Anytime.9 points

Yeah, it's amazing how many people on this forum can't understand this. I don't like it, but I understand it.4 points

Most certainly. Who’s going to go see a psychiatrist if it means having their home raided and personal property confiscated?4 points

This may not be the answer for everyone, but the Pastor at our church is an excellent counselor. I trust him fully and he'd be the first person I reached out to. Bonus: his son is our Asst. Pastor and he's finishing up his Psychology degree for this exact reason. Our church believes strongly in helping with mental health.4 points

Last night I sent a text to a former coworker. We're not close, but I like to check in with people now and then. A few minutes later I got a text from another number asking who I was. My initial thought was, maybe they've changed phone numbers or someone else found their phone. Sadly, this wasn't the case. The person texting me back was my coworkers wife, letting me know that he had committed suicide two weeks prior. There's a sorted history there that I won't get into, but what I will say is that it was completely unexpected. We're talking about a guy that I thought was a rock. I would describe him as a "manly man". Married, two kids, always into the dad jokes but took his work and life very seriously. A big 2a advocate, red blooded American type. Folks, this just goes to show that you never know what's going on in someones life. You don't know someone else's story, or what they've been through. Some people hide it better than others. For me, it tells me that I need to learn to have a bit more grace and make sure I check in more often with the people I care about (God being first and foremost). Make sure that you take the time to be with family and friends. Life is too short and fellowship is where it's at. No amount of "stuff" will ever fill the void. And if you are struggling, please seek help. There are 1001 reasons why you matter. I had the unfortunate task of informing all of his old coworkers (which i did gladly because I wasn't going to put that back on his wife) and it amazed me that people I thought only knew him in passing were gutted to find out what happened. A few of them even started talking to me about their own struggles with depression. Suicide isn't the answer.3 points

I live within 5 minutes of this place, its good, but not in my top 5 in this area. The Lampost, Cielito Lindo, Berts, The Patio, Donnas, The Beach in Tellico Plains, and Greenback Corner Market are some of my favorites.2 points

Anything that they shove up your Arse without due process should be un-constitutional but once it's in place it takes a lifetime to be heard. There is no reason in this world to think that any law will stop a determined individual from breaking it. Mentally ill people do not care about themselves so why would anyone think that they cared about them2 points

I have all my reps on speed dial and I send emails non stop. Heck I even mail letters certified so somebody has to sign for them. Like you said, they may not listen but I am going to shout.2 points

I posted them. If anything I have a CC w a reputable brand and have luckily only had to do one chargeback when I got duped on a back order that never showed up. I’ll never use a debit for anything online. Totally get the paying a couple bucks more for a reputable sites, there are however a lot of people that just dropship stuff to make $.50-1.00 in bulk with a crappy website and they try to make there money on add-ons like candy in the checkout for Home Depot.2 points

Pistol (not AR) used and both too young to legally obtain a firearm. So much for red flag or background checks helping there.2 points

The same thing happened with Bernie Sanders' votes, but that doesn't mean we just continue to fall back into the two party bs. If enough people get the message and take a stand, things will change, but if we just continue to roll over and play dead when things don't go as planned, then they will never change.2 points

An honest question then - who are the people in your life that you *would* trust? This is a thread on mental health - and we have shooting after shooting nationally where mental health is an issue that's brought right up front and center. I get it that so many of us are skeptical of "the government" being able to take away your guns and due process and all of that. I totally understand that. But who are the people you'd trust to ask, "are you okay? have you had thoughts about hurting yourself or someone else? would it be helpful for me to hold onto your guns for a minute?" I have had people's guns in my safe. I have a couple in there right now - for people in my life who I care deeply about - and for whom I was able to get past myself and ask them, "can I hold your guns for a minute." One friend may well be alive today because of it. It's probably worth going through that thought exercise - and asking both, "who are the people in my life whom I'd trust with my guns" and "who are the people in my life who would trust me with theirs." That second one might be a bigger circle than you think.2 points

The veneer of mental stability is a lot thinner than people are comfortable acknowledging. I say this as someone who has had to fight off "the grey" as as Jay Glazer calls it because it's part of my genetic code, apparently. Reach out to someone if you need that anchor point, from someone you trust, a stranger if needed, a professional if you have the time...pretend your life depends on it, because it might.2 points

If I ever did need some help, I’d have no idea where to go or who to trust. I damn sure wouldn’t call some .gov funded hotline, or whatever the place is affiliated with our current health insurance. I doubt I’m the only one who feels that way. Not very trusting at all. I wish I had a solution for how to make mental health services more attractive options for those who need them.2 points

I sent e-mails to both my state senator and representative about this. I made my voice heard. I can't say that they will listen, but what more can I do?1 point

I was late getting my feeders out last year but still had about 15 birds take up residence here for the summer until the Fall migration. When I see th bird on one of my 4 feeders I have up I will put up the other 4 I have. My problem last year was piss ants taking over the feeders and it was a constant fight to keep them away. My son in law finally found the nest and he poisoned the nest and that helped.1 point

While I agree with that in principle, I did it exactly that in 1992, voting for Ross Perot. All that did was pull enough conservative votes away from GOP George W. Bush to give Bill Clinton enough votes to win. That didn’t work out as planned to say the least!1 point

Vote for one of the other parties. Such as the libertarian party, if they could give us another decent candidate. There has always been more than two parties, just no one ever looks for them, so they get voted out by the time primaries role around, and then you're left with the choice of which is the better bad choice.1 point

red flag law. sounds like the same BS Hitler prob used in his heyday.Unfortunately most don't know about that, they're busy fighting over beer can labels. You want to talk about doors getting kicked in, this is the closest thing to making it perfectly legal.Imagine if all the mommies basement dwellers had a list of owners to call in on, and just made #### up... like scorned women in a divorce... cant make this bs up...1 point

Something that has occurred to me that most people may not consider. I have a fairly large collection. Some of which are considered rare collectibles and quite valuable. If I were to get "Red Flagged" and my guns taken, do you really think they would treat my guns as the valuables they are? Nope! They'd throw them into piles and boxes and haul them away like so much trash. Then only to be thrown in some evidence room/ locker, neglected and allowed to rust. Then say I win my case and my guns are returned. The scratches and damage to them will considerably affect their value. Will I have any recourse to sue the government for this loss? I really doubt it.1 point

I both understand and respect your feelings about the NRA. They got my money for a lifetime membership before they went off the rails. However, they are still the enemy of my enemy and that makes them my friend. For all that's wrong with them they do us more good than harm.1 point

All of the cable news networks are entertainment outlets aimed at a specific audience biases. None should be trusted at all for any reason. They wish not to disseminate truth or understanding. They simply want to keep your eyeballs glued to their screen and will say whatever it takes to accomplish that. It’s a good thing to understand that they’re all dying businesses.1 point

Carlson and Maddow both used this defense and won. They are more alike than they are different. A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit against Fox News after lawyers for the network argued that no "reasonable viewer" would take the network's primetime star Tucker Carlson seriously. https://www.businessinsider.com/fox-news-karen-mcdougal-case-tucker-carlson-2020-9?op=11 point

Of all the crazy stuff I have heard, fabric softener ! You know the chemicals in them will cause the primers to burn hotter. You really need to watch what people say here. Please be careful and limit the dryer on high to 30 minutes. Disclaimer: I'm being a smart ass, dont try this at home but if you do, video tape it for our entertainment upon your death.1 point
