1. Great Weekend !! A balding white haired man from Naples, Florida walked into a jewelry store this past Friday evening with a beautiful, much younger gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring. The man said, 'No, I'd like to see something more special.' At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. 'Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000, the jeweler said. The lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, 'We'll take it.' The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the man stated, 'By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds, and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon.' On Monday morning, the jeweler angrily phoned the old man and said: 'There's no money in that account.' 'I know,' said the old man…. 'But let me tell you about MY WEEKEND!!!'

 2. Happy Mothers Day! For me, its 1 of 2 days in a year that is tough for me. My mother has been gone now for 12 years. Though I hated to go to the card section at Walmart on Saturday night when she was alive, what I wouldn't give to do that again! God surely gave me a great gift, for providing me a strong loving mother. Where would I be without her! Happy Mothers Day Mom! BTW since this is a gun forum, she and I took our concealed carry test together in the first wave of Tennessee Concealed Carry permit, and she beat me in the actual shooting hands down. She could shoot!

 5. It's made from 1084 carbon steel 5/32" thick. Total length is just over 10" with a blade length of about 5 1/2". It's a big knife with indigo blue dymondwood for scales and stainless steel pins and lanyard hole. The spine has file work from the handle to about 1 1/2" from the point. As you can see it is a drop point design. I acid etched this blade except for the edge which I protected and also gave it a bit of a design. This knife turned out terrific...it's one of my favorites. The handle is made for a big hand. It's thick but nicely contoured to fit the hand. I'll be making more of this blade design in the future. It's of good size and the shape lends itself to many different design opportunities.

 6. This is the second year without my Mom here to celebrate with.   My Mom passed away last year on May 6th...however, my siblings and I were so busy with the funeral and family that "Mother's Day" that year didn't really register; this year I feel it.   Here is something that helped me today that was posted by a friend of mine on FB...   Your Mother is always with you. She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well. She's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow; she is Christmas morning. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. She's the place you came from, your first home, and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space... not even death.

 10. I just read a story that CCI is adding capital equipment. In this economy manufacturers are leery of making capital equipment expenditures for a demand that will not stay high. Unless there is some political intervention; supplies will return. Now whether or not prices will return is anybody’s guess, if folks are willing to pay the price they won’t, unless stock is sitting on the shelves. The gun haters didn’t create this pricing and hording; gun owners did. The firearms market will have to straighten it out.

 11. Sure. My future bride and I had just rented a house together. One Saturday we'd been doing the party thing all day that 20 year olds do. About 9 that evening there's a knock at the door. She opens the door and 3 guys in ski masks rush in. Guy in front is a skinny little f^(% with some sort of piddly little automatic pistol. Probably some POS .25. Guy behind him has a single barrel shotgun. No idea what's going on with the guy in back. I came into the room and the guy in front says something like "where is it?". Well, being the 25 year old testosterone filled jackass I was at the time I head straight to the guy in front and proceed to grab handful of scraggly red beard and yank it out of his face. He pops off a round into the floor and I'm so damn drunk I just keep charging the three of them. They turn tail and run out the front door with me behind. After they disappear I walked across the street to the gas station and used the payphone to call the cops. It seems that the cops believed the previous tenants had been dealing  a little pot.   True story. I guess the lord does watch over fools.

 15. That is exactly why I got into my own business shortly after coming home from Service. I stated out in my garage , then got an Exxon Station and even though I was considered a dealer in my own business Exxon still had their hands into to much control of me so when my 2 year lease expired I went and rented a building later buying the building and later the lot next to it for parking and expanding my existing building. When I became unable to actually do physically manual labor I turned it over to my son and grand son and walked away and went fishing. My son worked for me for a few years and I taught him how to run the entire operation and then his son joined him and it again became a father and son operation and still is with employees now.

 17. For what it's worth and it's just my opinion, I'd not wast money on an inexpensive safe - I would wait until I had saved up enough to buy a good one (and while I was very happy with my Browning safe I'd probably go with Liberty).     A good safe costs money for a reason and you truly do get what you pay for and if you buy inexpensive and/or too small you'll end up regretting it.   Just food for thought.   Oh and you can't beat the Safe House (I bought mine from the Safe House in Nashville; I assume it's the same company as in Knoxville). :)

 18. I have a different view.   Here in the country I hear strange and unusual noises all the time. Sometimes it's the well pressure tank making sounds, sometimes an animal scrouging on the back deck or something in the basement that tipped over... I've had deer thumping on the side of the house getting acorns out of the bushes along the side of my house (that scared me!)   I go "hunting" for what made the noise as a reasonable person would. Most "hunters" carry a firearm with them when they're "hunting"

 25. 1st rule of deadly conflict:  Avoid it if you can.  (Avoid, Evade, Escape, Engage)  It's easier to survive if you don't place yourself in the path of bullets or bludgeoning trophies.   -If an intruder is approaching (or in the room with) my loved ones in our home, then the deadly conflict has already begun.  It can no longer be avoided.   -If an intruder is in the house, but isolated from myself and loved ones, and we have an exit, we will make a "tactical" retreat and observe from cover.   - might not suite everyone, but I am comfortable with it.

While I am very much an "under the radar" kind of guy, I could care less if I get made; I have a permit, don't knowingly violate gfz's and actually invest time and money to be proficient with my handguns. you'll be fine once you drink our Kool Aid

 34. Of course, IANAL but I doubt very highly anyone makes an issue with it. Aside from the possibility that it is department property (and even then I would be willing to bet money they would approve wholeheartedly) I can't see it being any kind of legal issue unless you try using it in a manner that would lead a reasonable person to believe you were acting in a LE capacity. I think that's an excellent way to remember your friend. Sorry for your loss.

 36. Well, lets see. Last time I was asked to provide proof of my high school education by providing a diploma I told the potential employer that I had not seen my diploma since about a day after I receive it. I hung it on the wall of my parents home and while I was in the military they sold our ranch and moved twice during the time I was out of the country and you are the first company that has requested to actually see a copy of my diploma. The man said no diploma no job. I said ok and I went to the high school I graduated from in 1966 to get a copy of my diploma. Guess what? The school I went to is no longer a high school but a middle school and I am told that all the records of graduates from William James High School had been relocated to the Dickson County High School. I drive to the Dickson County High School and ask them for a copy of my diploma. Guess what? They cannot find a record of me ever attending Dickson County School. I explain to them that back then it was White Bluff High School and school name was William James High School. Back when they began re arranging all of the school systems and making all these stupid school levels like Grammar, middle, Jr High and High Schools all the records from all the schools in the existing schools were moved to the main county High school for safe keeping and now they tell me they can't find a record of me attending a Dickson county High School or graduating and I said well , lets see if you can find my diploma for my lawyer. I also learned that every person in my graduating class was having the same problem and none had a copy of their  diploma because they didn't want to fight them. Well I love a good fight, especially when I can show a county just how stupid they are about their record keeping and the future of many peoples lives. My Lawyer contacted the Dickson county School Board by way of a written  request demanding that the Dickson County School system produce a copy of my Diploma and all of my school grades and records. He gave them 10 days. The 10 days came and went with no reply. I guess they thought I was going to go away like the others did that asked for theirs did. Nope , my lawyers next move was to get a court order served on the Dickson County School Board Superintendent  to provide me with a copy of my diploma and the judge only gave them 10 days also. We ended up in Court about a month later and they said they told the court that they had no records of my ever attending a Dickson County High School And the judge ask them if they could provide proof I did not attend a Dickson County High School? And they said if they have no record of my attending a Dickson County High school that should be proof enough. The judge did not accept that and he then requested that the Dickson County School board provide any and all records of the William James High School of White Bluff Tennessee since they are now the operators of said school in a middle school level. They ask for time and the judge gave the 30 days. In 30 days they came back to court and their attorney had to admit that the Dickson County School Board had either misplaced or destroyed all of the records from William James High School during the transition of the county's school reorganization program. The judge calmly looked at the attorney and said you and your school system have lost or misplaced the papers and records that could effect the outcome of hundreds or maybe thousands of High school graduates futures. Sir, that is unacceptable. He said this cases is in recess for 2 hours in which I will make a decision as to what course of action the court will take on this issue.  (Now remember this all began because 1 guy at 1 company said he would not employ me as a mechanic without a diploma)    Back in court the judge had made his decision. He issued a court order demanding that from that date with was April 10th 1976 to the year 2025 the Dickson County School System is required by law to provide to any applicant requesting a copy of their diploma that attending the William James High School between the years of 1950 and 1980 a Dickson County High School Graduation Diploma. 1980 was when all of the records from William James High School were transferred to the protection of the Dickson County School system for safe keeping during the school reorganization. I found out later that three of my class mates actually sued the Dickson County School System for money due to the damage they had experienced because they had been denied entry into higher education programs because they could not provide the grade point averages required to enter the college to further their educations once they learned they could receive diplomas.  Yea, I admit it, I'm a trouble maker............ :stir: :stir:

 41. For the last 14 years I have been traveling all over the world for work. I can not count the times that I run into Soldiers on their way to or back from combat. Every time that I get the opportunity I thank them. Sometimes by picking up their tabs at a food joint or buying them a beer, I always do what I can. The look of gratitude on the faces when I thank them for their service and for keeping my family safe is more heartwarming and rewarding than anything I can think of, More than once I have given up a first class ticket and taken their coach seats on flights May God bless all of you who have served our wonderful country!

 42. Sig has filed a lawsuit over the ATF decision regarding the muzzle brake on the MPX. The ATF classified the brake as a suppressor component and has determined that the MPX cannot be sold without a form 4. Sig and their clanking balls have decided not only to sue the ATF in an effort to force them to reverse their decision, but has also named Director B. Todd Jones directly as a defendent. This means that the ATF must respond within 21 days. I think I just became a Sig fanboy.    http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/04/foghorn/sig-sauer-sues-atf-calling-muzzle-brake-silencer/
Good point, but even with the patriot act by bush, Reagans machine gun ban and so forth no president has been more hostile to the constitution and our nation as Barack Hussein Obama.
Abraham Lincoln Theodore Roosevelt Woodrow Wilson Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Without these four presidents' actions while in office, Barack Obama would not have been possible. While their love of nation may be debated one way or another, their hostility to the Constitution is without doubt. So, who is more terrible, the one who does a thing or the ones who make it possible for a person to do that thing?

 45. Not a story about someone else's reloads but about a guy I met shooting his own at Norris. He had been having some problems with his AR so I offered to take a look. When you pulled the trigger it would not fire, almost like it was on safe. I looked down inside the receiver and there was a primer that was in the bottom. I didn't think anything about it and shook it out. I told him he had a primer under his trigger and that was causing the problem. Knowing brass primer pockets can get loose over time I asked how many times the brass had been reloaded. He said he had no clue but he has been using the same brass for a long time. Next I asked him how much powder he was using. His reply, I swear, was "to the top". I asked what he meant and he said he would fill the case to the top of the case mouth then seat the bullet. At first I thought he was joking but he was serious. Then I thought that maybe the measured charge came to the top so I asked how much it weighed and he said he doesn't weigh the powder, just fill the case up. I told him he is lucky he hasn't hurt himself and he acted like I had insulted him.   When I got there I had my wife throw a bunch of clays on a bank past the 100 yard line. As I was shooting I guess I hit a couple of this guys clays. Same guy got extremely upset and yelled at me about shooting his clays. I apologized and put a stack of clays on his bench. Then he had to complain about the walk out there. I was on my crutches that I use to walk and he said I had no clue what kind of inconvenience it was to have to walk 100 yards. I chuckled and left.

 47. I've joked repeatedly that Sig must have an entire department devoted to giving the ATF the finger. I'm not sure it's a joke anymore. I am seriously getting the impression that Sig has a hardon for the NFA and is going after the idiocy of the ATF's rulings pretty much full bore. When I refer to their clanking balls, I mean it. Sig is showing a hell of a lot more testicular fortitude than the NRA, GOA, SAF and other so called gun rights organizations by directly attacking the NFA. I got nothing but love for them and pray they have continued success against the ATF.
