  1. I'm turning 70 and got the lifetime permit this month... call me an optimist.

  2. Three and a half years ago I met up with a member here on the board and took a puppy home. My daughter was was turning seven and the puppy was meant to be her gift. Bandit was one of the best things that ever happened to our family. I have shared several pictures of her here on the board and the progress of her life. In short she is a spoiled, highly intelligent black lab. Bandit has been trained by vocal and hand signals. She understand basic commands such as sit and stay. Advanced commands such as come to 'here,' go to 'there,' 'jump' and 'up(beg.)' The obvious, 'speak' and 'paw.' She is also bell trained, catches frisbees, fetches, and the like. She sleeps in the bed and her best friend is a cat. I think I counted something like twenty commands she understands, in addition to general desires. Overall, she is a damn good dog. I cannot for the life of me imagine what it would be like without her. So late last year I changed careers, and became a service plumber, as opposed to a Dispatch Manager for the same plumbing company. It was one of the best things I have ever done. Yesterday I got a call to go to a local pet supply chain Feeders Supply. In the process of diagnosing the issue, I was granted access to the Humane Society's onsite kennel/adoption center. Directly in my eyes when I enter, I met a black lab pup. 4 months old. Her first day at this shelter. One day out from being spayed. She had a white chin and a white star on her chest, just like bandit does. I texted the wife immediately. The puppy was on a medical hold, as her file hadn't been updated for her rabies shot. I asked for a hold, and a phone call, and woke up early this morning to take Bandit to meet the puppy. Ensuring that they would both mesh was of utmost importance for both. I got the call this morning en route to the shelter that the medical for the puppy had come in, and she was ready for adoption. I was twenty minutes away. The shelter and the pet supply store were both more than accommodating, allowing us the use of leashes, collars and tethers (which we did purchase at the end,) to see how the two would get along. Bandit is a 70lb lab, and the puppy is approximately 15 to 20lbs. Look at those paws, she will be huge. She came home, and she knew, even yesterday after I spent over and hour with her, and she remembered me this morning, she had a home. Her name is Brigand. And with some work and effort, she and Bandit will be one hell of a dangerous duo.

  4. Gunsmithing Services View Advert Hey guys, many of you know me here but I've had a lot of folks inquire about services or see something and not know that I offered that. My biz name is a little misleading I apologize for that. I'm a full service gunsmithing shop that does 99% labor type work. I moved my shop to Oliver Springs a little over a year ago. Things are running great so I wanted to throw this out there in case you need anything I can provide. First and foremost I will work on almost anything. I have been working on guns for 35 years now. Started off at my grandfather's pawn shop back in the early 80s. I moved to Oak Ridge in 2008 and opened Law Enforcement Sales early 2010 and have been steady smithing since. Since inception I have had a 07/02 manufacturing license for both title 1 and title 2 firearms. Began heavily on the LE side but my customer base has grown more than I could have ever imagined and I now do way more work for the general public. Little about me, I have been a commissioned law enforcement officer since 2001, worked 7 years as a SC State Constable working all over the state. I am currently serving as a Sergeant with the Anderson County Sheriff's Department which I joined in 2008 and have been an active Reserve Deputy with them since. I am also a VP at Wells Fargo bank working in their securities/loss area as a Software Engineer. I've compile a list of things I usually work on but again, the sky is the limit. I will 100% be upfront if there is a job I am not comfortable with. I have not done everything but I have found I tend to get the more difficult jobs around the area none of the other smiths want to deal with. I feel my prices are very competitive and I always charge what a job is worth not what my time invested is. Services Sales Affiliated with most the industries distributors. I don't do much retail because of TN's sales tax it's currently impossible to compete with the internet. I want you guys to get the best price you can but I do have those customers who want to buy from me and I don't mind helping search something down and getting it. I am a East TN SilencerCo SPEQ dealer. They offer great prices to LE, Military, First Responders (EMS, etc.). Call for special pricing. They offer a couple times per year this discount to Veterans too. Transfers Title 1 transfers - $20 INCLUDEDs TBI background. Custom machine a new hammer and recoil assembly. My conversions do not use that ugly recoil rod that most do that has to protrude through the middle of the rear stock. Everything is internal. MACs UZIs VK59s List could go on and on .... ALL of the above can also be machined to post sample select fire status for LE agencies Refinishing Parkerizing Cerakote Duracoat At the moment I do not do cammo patterns. 5. Theater or not the 'ban' was obviously a big, middle finger from the Obast**d administration to gun owners, hunters and all the other 'clingers' His Highness so despised as they went out the door. If the regulation had been needed and meaningful why wouldn't they had put it in place two, four or even eight years ago? Personally, I think that every time an Obama regulation gets cancelled or repealed an angel gets its wings.

  6. Will she be keeping her Tennessee driver's license and have an address of permanent residence in Tennessee? Car registered in Tennessee? I really see this as no different than a person who lives in Tennessee but travels for extended periods of time for work out of state. Until you establish residency in the other state, obtain a driver's license there, set up a permanent address there, you are not a resident of that state. As always, I am not an attorney. I'd ask one.

  7. I went and it was a great experience even though we didn't get in. I got in line at 3:30 and the line was a mile long. At 6:30 I was told by a MNPD officer that no one else was being let in, which was a not true. I was still about 4 blocks away so I went ahead and left. I saw only a hand full of protesters, they were mostly getting laughed at. The protesters were way too outnumbered to get rowdy. I will say that listening to Trump's speech on the radio it is refreshing to hear the president talk about doing great things. These last 8 years it seemed that every time the president spoke I was losing a right or having to pay a tax. I just hope that Trump gives his all to accomplish the things that he is setting out to do.

  8. I'm thinking an old Marlin Super Goose 10 would be more than adequate. The entire weapons system with ammo should only cost a few hundred bucks in startup and a coupla bucks per shot after that.

  10. I was there and did get in. Got in line about 1:30 and we just barley made it in. He came on stage about 5 min after we found a seat. There were a few hundred empty seats 300 or so but only because they couldn't get the people through security fast enough. It was a lot of fun. Went with my son and his friend who are big supporters. Was a good speech. Spanked the media's be-hind pretty good a couple of times. Crowd was pretty revved up. Minimal issues other than some 20 somethings who thought they could cut the line as we got close to the door. My son and his friend are good sized boys and we weren't having any of it. They moved on around the back of the line after a few words and serious looks were exchanged. It was cold and long and my foot is paying for it today, but it was a good time.

  13. Usually not possible unless you become a AL resident for at least 1 year.

  14. I believe David is correct. In 2011 I moved to FL and for some reason I was convinced I was required to immediately stop carrying. I realized later than until you establish residency in a new state your TN permit is still valid. Think about it, how would the state of TN have any idea where your daughter is? She'll be fine using her carry permit while she is there.

  18. My Son in law is into fly fishing and he catches a lot of trout on the Caney river in Carthage. Well, let me rephrase that. He use to love fly fishing a lot. Then I introduced him into bass fishing and my daughter has told me I ruined her husband andshe never gets trout for supper any more. She says he's alway bass fishing and releasing them back in the lake............

  19. Tried packing a 6P years ago and it would always find a way to turn itself on. Pocket carry and on the belt in a kydex comp-TAC gave me the same results. After the Fight at Night class I wanted to try a little more lumens so I cut a couple of rings for my lights and so far problem solved. That is Mr. Pickle modeling the light. Now the lights are only temp on with the button and no twist to stay on.

  20. outside diameter 1.0 inch , inside diameter .88 inch and a thickness .115/.120 will stop the cap just a little before it activates and gives minimum slack for the temp on button

  22. Basically, he fabricated a ring that goes between the tail cap and the body of the flashlight so that the tail cap cannot be screwed down far enough to activate the "constant ON" state of the light. It's the shiny silver piece in his photo. The 6P is like many lights where you have a Constant On feature that is activated by tightening the cap, deactivated by loosening the cap, and a Momentary On that is activated by a pressure switch on the tailcap.

  23. Tennessee's Governor does NOT support such bills. The NRA is only interested in access to the Speakers, if you want bills to pass, you must have different legislators who will elect different Speakers who will stand up to the governor. To do that you must turn out the incumbents.

  24. I am very familiar with Tellico Plains, so I know exactly where you are talking about! I haven't done any fly fishing there yet, but quite a bit of kayaking! I would love to get out to Colorado and fish in the next couple of years, that's gotta be amazing. I usually release the browns, but the rainbows end up my stomach. Love some trout! 26. Doctrine has fallen off as much as the tools. Air Defense has had their advancements and employment, but at the higher support levels. Patriot batteries are actually the most deployed units in the Army from what I heard in a symposium talk from the Army's Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations earlier in the week. Another GWOT tool, C-RAM (land version of the phalanx system), is great for fixed sites like large bases and how the Israeli's employ it for Iron Dome...but isn't feasible as an enabler for brigade down to company levels where troops need air defense again. After the Iraq invasion we pretty much ignored any kind of planning and tactical consideration of enemy air assets. I'd hope the Army got back to it as part of full spectrum ops, but I doubt the skill set has been built back up to match the current threat. In combating off the shelf drones, the tech for target tracking is there to put something like a 240 and it into a system that can target and engage drones. That system could be put onto a few vehicles for every maneuverer company and operated by an attached ADA team or cross-trained with infantry or other combat arms units. It won't be a 100% solution, but could help close the gap some.

  27. We were on the East side of Rochester from RefferMac and remember digging out our 500 foot drive after a storm like they are recovering from. I remember driving home from work a couple of times that I had to roll the drivers side window down so I could see the telephone poles to be sure I stayed on the road because of blowing snow. Don't really miss it. May have been fun when I was in my 30s but that was along time ago, even did some cross country skiing back then. Never got into snowmobiles, seem to be two kinds, drive in circles in the fields or drive from bar to bar. Neither did much for me. Much prefer my Winters down here. But that is just the bonus for being able to move back to the USA.

  28. Yes,got in line at 3PM and did not realize it was a mile long as you could not see because it was wrapped around a couple streets. When we did all see at 5PM we were not even close only a couple people left. At 6:30 we were still a block away and trying to figure out the math with the RNC Ticket Giveaway. So if 10 thousand already in and another 7-8 thousand still in line did they just give tickets to anyone asking instead of a cut off? We could see a few extra to make up for empty protester seats but no cutoff? Never got near it but got to meet a lot of great like minded people so kind of made up for it. Seen a large amount of Pro Trump Hispanics there, and on leaving a small handful of protesters. Got home cold and tired and watched Nashville CH 2 News and true to form headlines Two Thousand Protesters and a couple hundred waiting in line with tickets. Local Fake News.

  35. Now is definitely the time to stock up. It's plentiful and prices are low, even without crazy-good deals like this one. Considering where we were a year or two ago, the $0.30'ish /rd on the WolfGold over at Sportsmans is still pretty dang good. A hair over $0.30 http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/wolf-gold-223-remington-55-grain-fmj-1000-rounds?a=1581231 Double up and get it for a hair under $0.30 http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/wolf-gold-223-remington-fmj-55-grain-2000-rounds?a=2119684 Even the non-member price is pretty good compared to what we have been seeing over the last 3 years. They usually have a free shipping code floating around too.

  36. JAB, what I have seen with vacuum packed jerky is if it isn't clean break crispy dry when you vacuum pack it it will pull any liquid out of the meat. The first time it happened to me I took a couple of good smells and then took a very small bite. It didn't kill me and I ate the rest just fine. I just looked like I did when I pulled the trigger on my first reload. I was as far away from my pistol as I could physically be and still touch the trigger. The guy shooting next me laughed and said he did the same thing on shooting his first reload Mark
