Many thanks to Dolomite for the firearms related item that he gave to me as a gift...and paid to ship it to me! Really made me feel good that there was a fellow gun enthusiast, that freely gave something, and didn't expect anything in return! Just proves that there still are some generous people, that will do something nice for someone else, just to do it without any personal profit motive. Thank you Dolomite...and if we're ever at one of my lunch places, at the same time, lunch is on me. Here's wishing you and yours the very best for the New Year ahead of us. Sidewinder4 points

I apologize in advance, since this sounds like I'm splitting hairs, but this is 100% the fault of CT citizens: First, they elected these buffoons to office and second, the gun owners in that line are not there against their will, there's UHaul trucks in CT too. I'd like to think we just have better sense at the poll than CT, but I mostly believe that we are just more like-minded here in TN. We're lucky to have fewer hand-wringing ninnies than they have. If you find yourself in unsavory company, you run them off or you leave. Those poor gunowners up there that didn't move when they law was passed bent over and took it, voluntarily.3 points

After a lot of looking, I've finally got my hands on a 'Dream Rifle' I've wanted one for ages, but never been in a position to be able to buy or trade into a good condition Savage '99. I've seen & handled many, but they were never as good as I was led to believe, or crazy expensive. Every time Gregg posted a photo of his, I wept a little with envy. I now own my very own! It's a 1946 model 99EG in .300Savage & I couldn't be happier!2 points

TDR and KKing...thank you both for the comments you made. I appreciate them. I was in no way trying to argue or convert you, and I think you know this; but just wanted to be perfectly clear about it. This was a good open discussion on something that I really believe others might ask about, just as I myself was curious about it. So we accomplished something good.2 points

Guess what? Won me a BNIB Glock 19 Gen 3 on a raffle! Never won anything in my entire life except a few "free" tickets buying instant lottery scratch offs now and then. Been waiting my entire life for Dick Clark and Ed McMan to show up on my door step! Already have a nice Glock 19 Gen 3, with True Glow TFO sights, a Talon grip, a 3-1/2 pound trigger, the hole plug for the handle and my "Infidel" slide plate cover, so... Made a nice down payment for a Glock 26 and now to dress that one up too.2 points

Just watching the news, and can you believe it, there's a snowstorm in the northern states. Surely it's the end of civilization as we know it. And all those poor inconvenienced people they just interviewed on CBS. Oh the humanity. What a bunch of wussies we've become.1 point

Just seen this newsflash, Magpul made good on their promise: http://www.magpul.com/move January 2, 2014 Contact: Duane Liptak, Director of Product Management and Marketing Tel: 303-828-3460x170 Email: dliptak@magpul.com Magpul Industries Announces Plans for Relocation Company Is Moving Operations to Wyoming and Texas Magpul Industries announced today that it is relocating its operations to Wyoming and Texas. The company is relocating manufacturing, distribution and shipping operations to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Magpul is leasing a 58,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility during the construction of a 100,000 square foot build-to-suit facility in the Cheyenne Business Parkway. The Wyoming relocation is being completed with support from Governor Matt Mead, the Wyoming Business Council and Cheyenne LEADS. Magpul is moving its corporate headquarters to Texas. Three North Central Texas sites are under final consideration, and the transition to the Texas headquarters will begin as soon as the facility is selected. The Texas relocation is being accomplished with support from Governor Rick Perry and the Texas Economic Development Corporation. “Magpul made the decision to relocate in March 2013 and has proceeded on an aggressive but deliberate path†says Doug Smith, Chief Operating Officer for Magpul Industries. “These dual moves will be carried out in a manner that ensures our operations and supply chain will not be interrupted and our loyal customers will not be affected.†The company began a nationwide search for a new base of operations after legislation was enacted in Colorado that dramatically limits the sale of firearms accessories – the core of Magpul’s business. Magpul plans on initially transitioning 92% of its current workforce outside of Colorado within 12-16 months and will maintain only limited operations in Colorado. "Moving operations to states that support our culture of individual liberties and personal responsibility is important,†says Richard Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive Officer for Magpul Industries. “This relocation will also improve business operations and logistics as we utilize the strengths of Texas and Wyoming in our expansion.†About Magpul Founded in 1999, Magpul was launched to manufacture an innovative device to aid in the manipulation of rifle magazines while reloading under stress. The company’s name comes from the original product called the Magpul. Over the last decade Magpul has continued to grow and develop into additional product areas using much the same mission and process with a focus on innovation, creativity, and efficiency. I think you are probably on to something but I don't think you are giving yourself and the mods enough credit. It helps that there are decent knowledgeable folks that are willing to help here but I think the way issues are handled as well as what is and is not allowed goes a long ways in keeping people drawn to this sight.1 point

It's an odd thing, really. Kentucky has always had comparatively lax firearms restrictions in relation to Tennessee and many other states, and I think that has led to a certain amount of complacency among the people. Tennesseans have had to fight hard for things like the HCP and the ability to carry firearms in restaurants that serve alcohol, so I think we're more appreciative of those things here and as a result are more engaged in furthering our rights and protecting the ones we already have. I think that may be part of why the Kentucky gun forums aren't all that active.1 point

No game here today. Had hog jowls, black eyed peas, jalapeno cornbread, and fried potatoes, most of which was cooked in cornbread. Pretty dang good! On another note, I had always heard that Grandpa Jones was quite the butthead in real life.1 point

Crossville is a nice enough town but there's just not much there. It's a quiet little town. Being on the plateau, it's generally a little cooler in the summer but they get more ice and snow in the winter.1 point

Believe me after 4 sons, the only true birth control is abstinence, tubal ligation, or Vasectomy. We have close to 20 pairs of those crocs. The kids crocs rarely match they wear them anyway. Getting married, getting old, sure didn't work either. Headaches, bad back, I'm asleep, and other lame excuses didn't work either. Wanting a baby girl was like pouring gasoline on the fire.1 point

Go to your local Sherwin Williams and ask for the hardener for Prolane-T. There is one off of Broadway near the 40 exit/entrance. Duracoat is Prolane-T just with a different label. It is also a lot cheaper than Duracoat but you do have to buy larger quantities.1 point
