What David does on here is nothing but well intended and he does more for this gun community than most of us do here in a lifetime. If anyone says anything negative about him,. You will hear from me.. and you are not going to like it.. I might even get banned for it.7 points

While there may be some hiccups in the supply chain with the conflict over there going on, keep in mind that those hiccups occur even when there are no problems going on ... it's Russia after all ;), If there is a shortage or price hikes it will be completely American consumer driven, much like the .22 shortage has been.2 points

Each family must decide where the line is drawn and how they will act. Every member must understand the possible consequences, should it come to that. At that point, the possible losses resulting from both action and inaction are great. Pray it will never come to that, but that is how you teach children exactly what responsibility is. Is it right to teach your children to comply with every whim of authority? Is it right to teach them to "...Crouch down and lick the hands which feed..." them? If they will take your guns, next they take your God/personal belief system. That is a historical fact.2 points

Sanctions won't involve ammo. I'm calling it right now (praying I'm right :D). This will just be another panic. Even in the worst case scenario, Ukraine and Romania are still producing steel case ammo. They can increase that production if it means more $$$ for them. Bulgaria and Bosnia are producing brass 7.62x39 as well, so you should always be able to get boxer primed, re loadable ammo. Most of the 5.45 and 7.62x54Rmm surplus comes from Ukraine anyway, so how would that be affected? Oh yeah, by everyone starting rumors and buying up every single round of commie ammo they see. We are our own worst enemies.2 points

I think you misunderstand; at least you misunderstand me. I don't think anyone and I know I'm not saying that our desire for and action regarding constitutional authority should be based on our personal economic situation. There is, however, an economic reality here and that's all I'm trying to point out. Before you or I or anyone decides to pledge our lives, our fortunes or our sacred honor on a course of action we (and anyone who depends on us financially such as our spouses and children) had better count that economic cost and be truly sure we are doing the right thing..2 points

For sure. Debt just makes unemployment an acute situation. You can cut off cable, you can eat Ramen, in extremis, you can even do without the electricity but if there are people demanding 2-3k (or more) from you every month, that income is essential. If you owe on your car, loss of that will reduce your options for finding new employment drastically. If you have no debt, that 3-6 month emergency fund is a whole different ballgame.2 points

The Academy in question has issues. Not that long ago I posted about the sporting goods counter not answering the phone because they were BSing. How do I know? Because I called as I stood there and watched how they acted when my call rang at their counter.2 points

I an tell you authoritatively that if I see any ammo that David makes available to our members so that they and their kids can actually shoot for sale anywhere, we're going to have a big issue! David and I have had this conversation multiple times. He makes this ammo available to our members so that kids can continue to learn to shoot. And, I'd encourage you to think about that a little bit. If you're hoarding all your ammo and not getting out and shooting - who's teaching your kids to be responsible gun owners? Shooters can be gone in a generation if we don't support it at home and support the programs like the Boy Scouts that teach kids to shoot. I have ammo set aside, but I also have a deal with all of my friends - that if they're not going to teach their kids how to handle a firearm, then just ask and I'll be happy to teach them how to safely interact with one. And, if I use my last round of .22LR doing that - that's okay.2 points

If I went to a gun show and saw .22 ammo for sale with a sign that said 'reserved for <some group of people>' I'd be asking how to become part of that group and thank that vendor for taking care of his supporters. What happens at these ammo counters in the backs of stores is not the same thing.2 points

+1,000 There are some that no matter what happens they must have day to day drama to make it through the day. They constantly bitch about anybody and everything just to make themselves feel better. I guess because they are so miserable in their own skin that they must try to make everyone else around them feel the same way. Integrity in a business is what makes a great business. If you lie, cheat or steal, like CTD and now Academy, to get ahead then you should not be in business. And if you are one of whose who thinks it is OK to lie, steal or just be an underhanded crook to get ahead then you don't deserve anything but a 8x10 cell for the rest of your life. That brings me to something I have said over and over again. David, DLM37015, has more integrity in his little finger than 99% of the businesses operating these days. He is honest, knowledgeable and does right by his customers 100% of the time. And not only when people are watching but when no one would even know. I have seen him make a problem right even when it wasn't his problem in the first place. And why does he do this?, because he cares about his customers and considers most of them friends. And this sense of feeling welcome by David, as well as being taken care of, is what makes his customers come back. We are all exclusive members of a club called "TGO" so if he wants to pass a deal on to the members here so be it. Plenty of businesses, like Sams and Costco, do it so no one should be condemning David for trying to take care of our community. I promise you will not meet a nicer guy to do business with and he consistently has the best prices anywhere. I have known David for about 8 years now and have never heard or met a customer of his that was unhappy.2 points

I've never really struggled peeling a banana from the stem and i'm not eating an apple core and seeds. I have heard and tried peeling a banana that way, it doesn't always work that good. Maybe monkeys have been doing it wrong for a million years and it took us humans to do it right. :)2 points

Stoked, Christmas in March ! Seen Jeff Quinn had one for his 480 Alaskan, was only right to have one for my 454. So I emailed Bob Mernickle out in Nevada. Less than 24 hours he mails me back with info. I call and Bobs wife answers, transfers me to Bob. Order is placed. 4-6 week turn around but it was closer to 4. Great service and product. All I can say wow, this thing is bad ass. Happy, happy happy.1 point

I was raised in a christian home, but don't go to church as I should. But I'm still a believer, and am sick and tired of all the atheist, and gay marriage crap. This whole thing kills me because her brother seen some dude drag her off to the woodline. He did nothing to stop it and he was 16-17 at the time (gun, stick, ballbat ect) but call 911. I think he is just as guilty and may be involved in some way. I promise you this..as a teen ager if I seen someone drag my sister to the woods, I would have done everything I could (terminal hematoma here) to intervene or stop it. 911 would be called after the fact. But to stand around like a little pus**, and let that happen to his sister speaks volumes for his manhood! A similar thing happened to my Daughter in Laws little cousin. Jackie Beard was picking blackberries in her yard when a jerk, who's name I refuse to say, abducted her, raped her and killed her. That piece of s*** is in prison smiling with his bunk mate and could care less about it. These crimes are not punished harsh enough nor fast enough...it's sickening. Rant off... I think it's a very valid option, and the one most likely to keep you alive the longest. You'd have a 33+% chance of getting away with it... my guess the chances you'd survive an armed stand off with the police are very low... sub 10%. I've said it before, I'm half surprised legislators who voted for this law haven't ended up swing for a lamp post already. I'd say it's unlikely that legislators here in TN would fair as well if they passed a law outlawing firearms and then had public servants go around talking about door to door confiscation on the local airwaves. Fact is we only have a very small police force here in TN, somewhere around 15,000 post certified officers for 6.5 million people. And after the first attack on a legislator my guess is the vast majority of those officers will be guarding said politicians who support gun control.1 point

You missed one... Or you can resist with violence before they show up on your doorstep. Take the fight to the tyrants and their henchmen in their homes and in the streets, like they would do to you. Not that I'm suggesting anybody do that... but it's a valid option at that point.1 point

L. C. Smith was one of the "top tier" side by side shotgun companies... Right up there with Lefever and Parker... When i was a boy, i had the opportunity to handle several L C Smiths that my dad's brothers used for bird hunting... They are a high quality shotgun; and some of them are rare... They all are becoming collector's items because of their age alone... The shotguns i saw as a boy were old some 55 or 60 years ago... The L C Smith was to the side by side shotgun fancier what the Winchester Model 97 was to the pump shotgun man... They were viewed as "one of the best"... Check out this listing over at Collector's Firearms (...a real good source for pricing...) to get an idea of what an L C Smith is about: http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/side-by-side-shotguns/ For mechanical and condition questions i would recommend talking to Bob over at Predator Custom Shop in Knoxville... He has seen and fixed plenty of them... I'll end this little note by sayin that if ya have an L C Smith, there are plenty of "pinhook" traders that would like ta trade you out of it by lowballing the price and dissing the condition; or worse yet, tellin ya that it is a "dangerous damascus barrel" and shouldnt be shot... To which i say a hearty "baloney"....... The truth is that they are tryin to steal it from ya to turn around and sell it to a collector or hold onto it for their collection.... Up into the thirties, damascus barrels were no big deal; as ya could buy black powder shotgun (...rifle, and pistol....) ammunition...Black powder loads sat right alongside the newfangled "smokeless" ammo; and lots of old timers thought the black powder loads were beter... If i had a good lookin (...or even a "well used", lovingly cared for...) L C Smith, damascus or fluid steel barrel; i would hold on to it; but that's just me --- i tend to do those things... If i wuz interested in shootin it on special occasions and showin it off on beautiful fall days; i would have someone like Bob check out the barrels and i would load some lightly loaded black powder loads for it... As ya can see, im a great L C Smith (...and old shotgun...) admirer myself... We have a great fluid steel 1887 Remington side hammer that i reload black powder loads for that my son used to use for CAS... This old gun is probably in the neighborhood of 100 years old; and it shoots like a dream and locks up like a bank vault... There's nothin greater than the throaty "kaboom" from a good black powder shotgun blast and the great cloud of white smoke is outta sight... There's nothin like it... It is what "real" old time shotgun shootin is all about... Hope this helps a bit... leroy1 point

For my job I have shipped all kinds of stuff all over North America. Using all of the major carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.) and several trucking companies for larger freight. I have horror stories about all of them. Also, my current Post Office is wonderful and I've never had even the smallest of problems from them. But since this is a funny USPS stories thread.......... The USPS was a client of mine for engineering services about 10 years ago or so. They had a very specific way that everything had to be done, specified down to the smallest detail. One of these things was that all correspondence, including all of our engineering reports, had to be sent by USPS. Fair enough. Another thing that was very specific and inflexible was our schedule for submitting the reports - we "X" days after receiving our authorization to proceed for our reports to be delivered. You can see where this is going..... We did our thing, sent off our reports via USPS Express Mail (the guaranteed delivery service they offer) addressed to USPS Headquarters. The due date came and our reports didn't arrive. Heated phone call from our USPS contact about how we didn't fulfill the terms of our contract. Not going to get any further work (was a multi year, multi facility contract). So I gave them the tracking info and they tried to track the package down. The reports disappeared en route. Just gone. Tracked into one facility, never tracked out. They supposedly searched the facility high and low, the package had just disappeared. Never was found.1 point

I do, but I will not post it. I have an open complaint with the corp office and I am giving them a chance to fix the situation. If he is fired, it would be useless to post his name. If nothing happens then I won't go back and it really doesn't matter to me anymore.1 point

No we don’t; their ammo is junk and so are their guns. Claiming stuff is good just because it is cheap is what got us in this mess. I may have to buy foreign made TV’s and computers, but I sure don’t have to buy foreign made guns or ammo.1 point

A part of me is quite jealous of Russia right now. Despite the fact I hate communism and their restrictive way of life, they have a real leader. Putin has balls. Putin speaks, people listen. Putin wants something done….it gets done. IF we had us a red-blooded freedom loving american like that, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today. This whole debacle is disturbing. When the wall fell everyone thought the bear was done for. I look for the return of the Soviets to mark the end of us. Scoff but it ain't like it's beyond the realm of possibility. They for damn sure have the capability.1 point

Live by the sword, die by the sword....this is the stupidest argument people can try to leverage against another. If I carry a gun, I could get shot? If I DON'T carry a gun I could get shot. Ok. Just ate an apple the way it was shown. If you start from the bottom as shown and then eat your way up, you can eat the entire thing and it isn't weird. The "core" gets "mixed" in with the "meat" of the apple and it is in no way weird. The whole thing was easily edible and as a bonus the seeds are probably really good for you anyway. Off to look for a banana!1 point

You're right. 99% of police in this country are comprising their morals by violating their oath and enforcing unconstitutional laws. I don't see why you're all picking on this guy. By the logic exhibited here you should be cursing every LEO you see, because at some point he likely enforced a law which could be interpreted as unconstitutional in regard to 2nd Amendment rights.
