So much bad information! 1)  Full auto has it's purposes.  To be effective, it takes a lot more training that simply knowing where the 'go-fast' switch is.  Full-auto in the hands of a trained pro can be a wonder to behold.  Whether engaging a squad at 800 meters with a belt-fed or taking on several targets at 100 meters or less with a subgun or carbine, it is impossible to score multiple hits on multiple targets faster with any other weapon. 2) Training is everything.  Trigger control lets the user send the exact number of rounds needed downrange.  How long a magazine or belt lasts depends upon trigger control. 3)  Full-auto is extremely effective at area denial, intimidation, and suppression of multiple targets. 4)  Shotguns are useless past 100 meters.  The Saiga is not renowned for reliability.  The drums and large magazines are fragile and really only suited for range use.   If you really want to see examples of expert full-auto use, watch the top scorers at a submachine gun match.  Effective full-auto fire is not just hosing down an area.  Name another method of taking down three or four opponents in half a second at 100-800 meters (depending upon the weapon) without explosives?  Think Jerry Miculek fast, but at longer ranges. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTHc4H_i8DY   In WWI, machine gunning was developed into a science.  By WW2, squad automatic weapons had developed into a highly-trained infantry specialization.  Read accounts of infantry action from WW2 and Korea.  Notice how often the BAR gunners and machine gun team were who the others depended upon to hold a line or keep momentum in the assault.

Well tomorrow is the big day! I am moving back to Florida. My parents are entering their upper 80's and starting to have more medical issues. Da d is 87 and just finished chemo treatments for lung cancer. I found at yesterday he was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia but is doing pretty well. I had applied for a job transfer in there area. Normally it takes 6-8 months to even begin the process. I figured that would work out well time wise for my son who will be a senior this year. My transfer was accepted and approved in seven days! So, I'm going wife and son will be here for another year. Long story short, I have enjoyed meeting and trading with some of you, and enjoyed the comaraderie of this sight. I fully intend to continue causing trouble on here even if it is long distance.

I go back offshore in a few days and I should be bummed out, but I am actually excited, I Know when I get back this time I will able to carry any knife that I own legally!!!!!!

Like Chris said, no reason not make the officer's job a little easier. I do this by getting out of the car when pulled over. I mean, anything could happen when he walks up behind an unknown person. By being outside the car he knows what he's dealing with, so I'm removing some of that uncertainty. Then I move quickly towards his car. He's a busy guy. I don't want to wast his time. If I'm carrying, I'm always sure to lift my shirt up to show him where it is. I don't want the officer to get any surprises later. If for some reason it's not safe to get out of the car to help him out, then I wait in my car with the lights off. I don't want to hurt his keen low-light vision with my stupid dome light. When he asks for my DL and registration, I lunge for the glovebox to get it. Again, he's a busy guy so I don't want to waste his time.       Seriously though....what Chris said. It costs you nothing, speeds up the process, and makes their hard job a little easier. That can be the difference between getting a warning and getting a ticket.

There is no legal requirement for you to notify but many officers do appreciate it when told.

I try to make things as easy as possible for the officer when I get pulled over. I roll down my windows (all of them), turn on the interior lights, place both hands on the wheel and when the LEO asks provide both Lisc and HCP which are on the dash so I don't have to take my hands out of sight. I figure that's gotta be a tense moment for an officer... walking up on an unknown... anything I can do to make their life easier. The officers seem to be appreciative. It might not be necessary but it costs me nothing and makes their lives a little less tense, so why not.

Gun or no gun in the car, no, you don't have to notify.  I didn't notify when I was pulled over recently and I won't if I am again.  The officer that pulled me over never said a word.    I think you find the only ones that have an issue are the one's with the biggest ego's.  I am certainly not saying don't tell them if you want to, but I don't see the need.   

I think it's great that you can move close to your parents. Cherish every single moment you have with them. Hope the move goes smoothly for you and that the job transfer works out to your liking.

Hey guys, my father bought himself a shield last weekend after months of debate, and generally loves everything about it. He's going to pass on the Apex trigger and honestly I agree that stock it's already just fine for what it is. He would like to change out the sights however and that's where I'm needing some advice from those of you who have upgraded. What have you got, how do you like it? He's going back and forth between night sights and fiber optics, I seem to recall a company paints over FO with a glow paint, but can't recall who and no idea how effective they may be. Any feedback welcome, doesn't have to be from a shield as long as it's from a company that makes a model for it. Thanks guys!

I can't flippin' wait!! I have nice things (guns, guitars, and now my first pricey knife) but nothing I own stays a "safe queen." Every gun gets shot (a lot) every guitar gets played out, and I've been using my TGO knife like crazy. I like it more and more every time I use it. It feels purposeful. I've liked many other knives, but this is different. I can't wait for the Godfather buy... I think I'm gunna love it even MORE! Sweet pair o' skinners you got there, Mike! I love the maple! Some day, I want one done in flame maple and sprayed to match my favorite Les Paul!

I enjoy visiting Bell Buckle, but not so much when they are hosting events with large crowds. I can't seem to get in and out of Bell Buckle without an ice cram and fudge stop at Bluebird Antiques.

  Not a fan of Slurpass at all. I watched Metro evolve on his watch, and not for the better IMO. NOLA is a more fitting place for him. 

  Recall that a couple of years ago, Metro went on a recruiting drive up in the North for officers that had been laid off by their local city governments.  One of former Police Chief Ronal Serpas' good ideas (along with fixing his son's DUIs).   Most of those officers came from socialist...., oops I meant democrat controlled cities.  Their background & experience in those socialist (Dang there I go again - I mean democrat) controlled departments established in the mind of those transplanted officers that licensed armed citizens are a threat.   Count it as a training scar.

  I can remember my mother and grandmother canning corn, but they later switched to freezing.  A lot of people prefer the taste of frozen corn to canned, and the canning process is relatively long for corn.  Additionally, the recommended procedure is to use a pressure cooker, as corn is a low-acid vegetable.  Internet recipes for canning corn indicate that it needs to be processed for 85 minutes (depends on your pressure cooker's setup of course) for quarts, I think the long prep and processing time was what originally led my mother to freezing, then we discovered that we liked the frozen better.  The only reason I can think of for canning corn would be lack of freezer space.

Also, take a moment or two to make sure that when you upload pictures of your $2,000 EBR or $2,500 Wilson Combat that you haven't accidentally included GPS coordinates for everyone to see exactly where you live. Thieves are getting (somewhat) smarter.

Doesn't surprise me. While you probably should have looked it over before the purchase, I'm surprised an employee of the shot didn't inspect it before placing it on the shelf.
