He's actually just banning products from one set of oligarchs who are not his boon buddies. I got real busy and wasn't on here regularly for a few months and then noticed that several members are....uh, missing.

Answer it this way. "Hey mac, I got rid of the bodies, but there is a lot of blood, what should I do?"

I am not looking for increased profit margins. I pulled my ad down the second I heard, not so I can jack the price up but to keep someone from buying it for $1,200 and then taking advantage of panic buyers because of the situation. If I wanted to I could have already sold it for more than $1,200 but I will not sell it right now and if I ever do it will be long after the panic has settled down.

Finally talked Dad into getting his TN HCP by buying him the class for Father's day.  He took the class on the 6th, filled out the paperwork on the 7th and got his HCP yesterday (the 21st) in the mail!   Seemed like a pretty speedy turn-around time to me!  Thought I'd share.

Well, already own two Berettas, no harm to buy more.  I would like to have one that has Tennessee stamped on the side.  Good move Beretta.      Pssst....Sig, you need to catch up and build a factory between Knoxville and Chattanooga! 

I'm just surprised it took so long, as a former MD resident I don't know why anyone would operate a business in that state let alone a firearms business. Beretta had a nice shotgun range in Greenbelt that they gave to the county.    I escaped MD for the same reasons, so greatful to live in TN.

But if you are not familiar with fitting you can end up with a dangerous gun. Also, replacing the hammer and trigger often requires a new thumb safety to be fitted. And it is quite possible the current sear may not play well with the new hammer and trigger. And if not then you have to buy a new sear which often requires a new thumb safety. Or the new hammer may cause the thumb safety to not function correctly. Or the new hammer and trigger might work without any additional parts but it is very unlikely.

I used to hand all junk calls off to my 3 year old..  He knew enough words to keep them talking (sometimes for a very long time), but nothing coherent enough to give them any info.  He loved the attention, and they rarely called twice.

Who knows, maybe they will let us buy parts direct? I wouldnt mind five or six blemished mags. Or a few other parts .

Hell yea... Even though i'm sure the liberals in Maryland don't care, probably see it as a victory for them. They don't care about the people who will loose their job, just their political anti-gun agenda. That's what gets me is that some dolts still believe the democrats and liberals stand up for the little guy BS. That's okay, Tennessee will gladly have them and those good employees who wish to move here and escape socialism. There will be plenty of new jobs for Tennesseans also.

are you asking about CMP and NRA High Power Service Rifle matches?  if so, yes there is a good presence of those in the mid-state area.

If you can afford $40 grand for a TV with clarity so clear you'll be able to see the future, why not? After all, people buying these right now are putting them in the $10 million homes, which could also be considered excessive. I ain't gonna lie, if I ever won the lottery, I'd have something like that. 

When I was a kid in Atlanta, Old Sarge's Army Navy Surplus had a big footlocker of dummy grenades for $1/each.  Pineapples, baseballs, even some potato mashers.   Those things were standard issue for war games in our neighborhood.    Funny, back then my dad would take me and my friends up there on Saturday to spend our allowance on all that stuff.  Today, I'm sure that after the SWAT team got done responding, they'd probably arrest our parents and send the lot of us kids into the foster system.    It's a shame.  Our kids today sure aren't any better for it.

The best model for a gun shop / range I PERSONALLY have ever ran across is Range USA in Memphis. They had a very good sandwich shop in the building and on Fridays and Saturdays they did a date night. I think it was around $40-$45 for two meals, a lane rental and two boxes of ammo. My wife and I loved it and they were busy every weekend.

I would think a business model that could work for a LGS is to leverage the e-commerce and FFL requirement by owning the transfer business. With the internet offering unlimited selection, why be the showroom for someone else's sale. Become the showroom for the net, reduce your inventory costs of guns and focus on items like ammo and accessories while informing the public on their internet options. Lots of folks have no idea they can "order a gun". And if the transfer fee is less than the tax on the gun, its a win-win

I have been dealing with my aged Mother breaking a hip, and then her passing away, took a month from one to the next. Let me say this, a Freedom of Information request has been made, asking for all communication relative to the issue from Gibbon's Office to the Administration and the Legislative side pertinent to the facts. What recourse we take at that point will be determined by the quality of the information received, or not... However the facts we do have are incontrovertible, there would have been no need to change the HCP card, and if the DHS decided to, their contract with the printer precluded any up-charge for doing so.  The spurious "Fiscal Note" was ginned up, there was no "ploicy" in effect to require a change of the cards. We will see if someone's hard drive malfunctions...   Of note, when the vote relative to this issue did come before the Finance Committee, Sargent had a pain, and had to leave for a "bathroom break" and was not available to vote on the issue in his own committee...

This topic is always a little tricky. As someone who spent several years working for his Father's local small business, I'm well aware of the blood, sweat, and tears that often goes into being an owner/operator. There is no shortage of those with who think they can simply open a business and become successful. We saw a bunch of this when every Joe Schmo with a few extra dollars or decent credit decided to open a gun store during the last couple Obama scares. They saw everyone else making money, and allowed the dollar signs to muddy their thought process. You can't expect to open a successful, long-lasting gun shop (or any other type of business) if you can't be competitive with the more established shops in the area. This has been especially true during the last several years when the vast majority of potential customers have been forced to spend more wisely. Times are continually changing, and everyone will be forced to continually adapt. We were hearing many similar argument as the likes of Wal-Mart, Target, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. were putting many mom & pop stores out of business at alarming rates. In the end, most of us rarely step foot in the mom & pop shops who've managed to hang on. Those who've survived are either in locations which make it more convenient, or they've learned to adapt. The internet is here to stay, and it will continue to change the way a majority will buy and sell. Those who don't learn to adapt will suffer. While the Internet will likely have a similar affect on local businesses as Wal-Mart and Lowe's, we will learn to evolve just the same. While some local gun shops will likely be forced to close, others will learn to adapt. Bud's is a perfect example. They just happened to have enough foresight to stay ahead of the curve. They have brick & mortar shops, as well as a thriving online presence. If I'm not mistaken, they are actually in the process of opening other brick & mortar locations. I'm actually surprised at least one of the shops in this area hasn't had followed suit. I highly doubt we'll ever be without our fair share of local shops. I live in Springfield, and there are nearly a dozen gun shops within a 30 minute or so drive. Extend that drive a few extra minutes, and the amount of available shops will likely at least double. Frankly, for multiple reasons, most of them aren't worth visiting. Many of them could close today, and most of us would see no negative impact. It sucks to see someone lose their business, but unfortunately that's the nature of the beast. My father started his moving company before the Internet was being used by everyone. Once every Tom, Dick, and Harry with a pickup truck and no overhead started advertising for free on websites like Craigslist, he began to see a big decrease in business. Most potential customers wanted to be moved as cheaply as possible, and he could no longer compete. He was able to see the writing on the wall, and decided sell the company. The buyer was even less prepared to compete, and the business closed for good. It's sad, but that's the way it works.

This ^^^   Sadly the days where I trust strangers even enough to borrow my phone are long gone. Very few people don't have phones these days, and my neighbors generally have the same people over all the time. A stranger would be talked to as such and as far as coming in the house uninvited, I guess I'll say, hopefully my dog stops them before he gets all the way in, for all our sakes. I'd just assume call the cops to help this person in need of assistance out.

I probably would have called the cops and had him checked out.  If nothing else, he probably wouldn't come back unless he was really meant to be there.  I also have a big dog so I don't think he would have tried to come in, but I also probably wouldn't have even considered letting him use my phone if he was suspicious at all.

Ever spend some time at the range, watch folks shoot, move, etc, and in your mind figure out who you could travel with, and who would only be useful to give yourself a little extra getaway time?

I hate to hear of the peace of any couple being broken. For the sake of the happiness of your marriage, I would gladly relieve you of these items that are causing so much strife.
