Don't let your kids see you turn from their dad  whom they love dearly to a hoodlum (...as defined by society, and not necessarily right...) over some "in a hurry" b**ch and a foolish bratty kid... I bet everyone would calm down if ya called for the local security officer....   leroy

I know you want to hear that you would be justified in protecting yourself, and if that were the case you would be. However, when I responded to these types of situations I needed to determine was this mutual combat or an attack. To do that I had to talk with both people involved and the witnesses. What would the witnesses have seen? You throwing the first punch? Your situation is like a rage road incident; two willing participants. Chances are good one or both of you would have been arrested, had you pulled a gun or some other type weapon you almost certainly would have been arrested. You would have then let you attorney make your case to the DA or in court. At a high school football game or a Hockey game Police actions will be swift to remove the drama. There won’t be a lot of standing around and interviewing people unless a weapon is pulled or someone is seriously injured. I would have ignored him and walked away. If he attacked me I would have had to deal with that.   You have a responsibility to take care of your family. Going to jail or spending your family’s money on lawyers is not in the best interest of the people who depend on you.

1 - shouting at or verbally arguing with a reckless driver isn't going to change their behavior one bit. Might make you feel better but it can only lead to trouble. If the situation was truly dangerous and you or others narrowly escaped serious harm, you should have just called the police. And especially because there's always some police present at every high school football game. 2 - squaring off and proceeding to verbally argue or debate with one or more adversarial strangers, kids or otherwise, is just as wrong and pointless as #1. You just ignore them and walk away, avoiding the altercation, and only escalate to self defense if you are pursued to the point of having no practical way out or if the pursuers place you or your loved ones in fear of imminent bodily harm or death. If it were me I would have shook my head silently at the unsafe driver, saying nothing, or at most reporting it to local police or security. And if confronted by someone later I'd just dismiss them as unimportant and walk away. Life's too short and my desire to enjoy the game safely with my family and avoid any physical or legal trouble would far outweigh any desire to confront or scold bad drivers and overzealous defenders. Probably not what you wanted to hear but that's my $0.02.

Considering that over 1/3 of US homes have firearms, I hardly think knowledge of one existing in a home based on a sign indicating the resident's willingness to use violence would embolden a person to target that house. I would say it is more likely that a person would be deterred by a sign which suggest the occupants are willing to kill intruders. Nothing is 100%, of course. Just like putting a security alarm sign in your yard won't deter 100%, doesn't mean it isn't effective. Of course it is. I "prefer" having my XD Subbie with 13+1, but since I have to more discreet than IWB some of the time, the Kahr PM9 has been in my pocket daily for about 4 years now.   I could carry the XD majority of time really, but I'm a creature of habit, don't like to have to think about wardrobe each day, and the Kahr hides in everything I wear, even the occasional dress pants. And though the XD ain't bad at all in my nice TT Gunleather rig, still can't compare to the comfort of pocket carry with the Kahr in a StellarRigs kydex, especially with all the walking I do.   - OS

I'm pretty sure the operation of the sp/gp/srh is identical. After removing the grips, this is the next step for disassembly. Cock the hammer and the hammer strut will travel down. You should see a hole drilled in the strut. Insert mystery pin here. Pull trigger/ ride hammer forward, pin will catch on the mainspring strut. You can now remove the hammer strut subassembly.

  this should be the standard answer when people ask how it is living in TN.   I always laugh when there is the thread about someone from Maryland or Pennsylvania or whereever thinking of moving to TN.  They ask how Murfreesboro is, or we are looking at Brentwood,  or thinking of buying property on Norris Lake or west Knox.   Then the answers come in about how great the place is and how much the new guy and his family would love it.   Why encourage people to come here?   LOL   My standard answer is that this place is awful and I am trying my best to figure a way to move out.

I understand and realize the best course of action would have been to mind my own business but....I'm done with minding my own business.  If you're acting a fool and being stupid and it is affecting me, I'm going to call you out on it.   I firmly believe that stupidity and foolishness is becoming so common place in society because society stands by idly and watches from the side lines.  Is it my place to do so, probably not.  I believe it's all of our place to do so.   Think of this.  You're at he the hockey game.  Fellow spectator is yelling and screaming profanities at every play and person he sees.  You can tell everyone is annoyed to no end.  Security isn't doing anything about it.  So one guy in the crowd stands up and tells this guy to tone it down and keep it civil.  Everyone cheers this guy for doing so because he just did what everyone else was wanting to do but didn't have the guts to do.     If no one stands up to idiots when they are doing something that is detrimental to others around them, then who will?  The cops?  No offense but how reliable are they and where are they when you truly need one.  Society needs to police its own when it's something that can be handled without police intervention.  So many people rely on the cops to save them when all they need to do is start standing up for what they know is right.     Idiots prevail because good men no longer call them stupid.

So, the Amendment to the bill should have never passed the committee, and would have not even been a part of the FOPA had he not screwed us. I had the opportunity to train with Col. Dwight Mclemore this weekend. He is the authoer of several books, including Bowie and Big knife fighting systems, Bowie knife advanced techniques, the fighting tomahawk, and several others. He was a gentleman, a gracious host, and an amazing teacher. We trained on big knife fighting, double knife, hawk and knife, and discussed Gladiator and Viking armor, weapons and techniques. I use a shooting stick for all firearms hunting. I've been using one for years. It doubles as a walking stick in the dark woods and allows me to always have a steady shot.    Nothing illegal about using a bipod attached to your gun either.    This is the stick I use. I thought I would share my experience at Bud's today. My friend is getting married tomorrow so myself and our other friend threw him a bunch of cash to go purchase his first firearm.    We thought Buds would offer the best selection and I knew their prices would be competitive.    The store is amazing. The selection is fantastic and the prices were right where I expected them to be. My friend ended up buying a XD 9 Bi-tone for $469(maybe $479). Springfield is still giving away 3 free magazines so it was a hell of a deal. They also provided a free 30 minute range pass which we used.    The employees were very friendly and helpful. I warned my friend that gunshop employees can sometimes be full of crap but we didn't have that issue today. One clerk did try to push the Taurus but we quickly dismissed it and moved on.   The range is the nicest indoor range I have ever seen but it is overpriced. I wouldn't go back there to shoot. Their ammo prices were high but not stupid high(Bass Pro, Gander etc).   They had a crate full of Mosins for $119 I think. They had a really nice selection of 1911's and knives.   Overall it is a damn fine store and I'll definitely go back. 

Used one on my .243 last year for yotes. I had the 870 in my hands for close work, and the 243 was at the ready on the bipod. Convienient way of keeping it out of the dirt more than anything

Spent 3 hours today making .40 ammo and listening to Dream Theater. Listened to most of Images and Words, the 20th anniversary live album, Octavarium, and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. It's amazing how much ammo you can make during just one song... when it's 42 minutes long! :-D

I think he would have a better chance getting the NFA pecked away at with SBR's and suppressors first by challenging with them as specific items.  With the widespread use and sale of those two items, along with states that have no state level precondition to ownership, you could argue that the federal government has no legitimate need to regulate them as an NFA item, that it should be a states issue and the 10th Amendment applies.  The current Supreme Court tends to like those kinds of limited rulings that aren't too overreaching and dramatic.   We're probably a long ways away from having anything automatic being legal, even with this gun friendly Supreme Court.

I don't own one but have shot one several times. Definitely light weight and seems easy to carry. Currently carry a CM9 when I have to go small but could see carrying the G42. I find I can shoot the G42 fast and accurate. To me it handles like full size gun when it comes to shootability. But then again I always find an excuse to buy a new gun.

Sometimes in my opinion a the best safe is a good hidding place unless you are looking for fire protection too. Before I had a big safe for my guns I would put my pistols in their boxes and put them in the return air vent behind the filter. There are so many ways to hide stuff in your home where nobody will ever think to look. But you don't get the fire protection though.

I don't know why anyone would want to move here. The winters are long and rough, the summers are long and sweltering got, and let's not even get started on the humidity. The mosquitoes are the size of birds and the ticks range in size from pinhead to tennis ball. Fire ants and rattle snakes are abundant. Fall and spring don't actually exist. Well, we usually do have that month of constant rain where everything floods just between the snow and those long summer days. So unless you are looking for all of this while being surrounded by gun toting country folk I wouldn't bother.

Because they're stupid. They don't realize that their own stupidity is what caused the crap hole that they came from to become a crap hole.

We certainly have our problems down here but if it keeps the damnyankees out then they can publish all the garbage they want.

Pre court meetings can be a real eye opening experience as well!!   I have a family member going thru a divorce. It is amazing what some will say and do to bleed a man dry.

Very nice pictures! I've had a few invites over the years to hunt a few blinds in West TN and MS but something has always come up that prevented it from happening. One day I will get the offer again and will make it happen!

The 686 is very Python-ish in it's handling but is lighter than the M-27/M-28. Prior to the introduction of the 686/586 a very popular custom revolver set up was a S&W M-19 with a Colt Python barrel installation, it looked great, was affordable and handled well. IIRC it was called a SMOLT. As much as I love my S&W K & N frames I never took a serious liking to the L frame. I really like the GP-100 though, even though it doesn't;t look as good as a 686 or Python.   I will mention a couple of additional RUGER used gun's to seriously consider. A 4" Security Six or a Speed Six. They are somewhat collectable but still affordable and are the best looking RUGER DA wheel guns ever made.

Good point. I forget that because to me all dogs are inside animals. The heat of Tennessee is also cruel to a dog.

We got a (British /American ) yellow lab. Excellent dog all the way around exempt he sheds like crazy. Can't count how many vacuum cleaners we killed. I also am found to boxers and German Shepards. As far as training we knew he was going to be a big dog (105lbs) so he had to have proper training. I have been to the weekend training programs at petsmart with past dogs and it never advanced past the sit command. We found Bear Creek Kennels in Columbia. Trish use to be a judge for the dog shows. She has a training program where she takes a few dogs at a time. They actually stay with her for a few months. She takes out to her horse training facility and she works with them. We would go out on the weekends and see the dog and she would train us how to command the dog. When it was over the dog was awesome! Sit, stay, down, heel, etc. He would not jump on people. Plus he was trained around horses. Dog can take off running and I can sit him on command. Hold him at a sit toss the freebie and he will hold until I release him. She also has the weekend only classes in the horse arena. That was 4 years ago and we still have to work with him to keep him sharp but overall it was worth it.

Dobermans have been the best dogs I've had. They are extremely smart which makes then very easy to train. Mine are currently in a training program through Petco. Prior to owning the two that I have now, every dog I've had wasn't very loyal (i.e. would run out of the gate when it was opened and make you chase them around), but the dobermans have been the complete opposite. No matter what you decide, make sure you have an insurance company that won't drop you for having a large breed such as a German Shepherd.
